#WeAreASID As our new year begins, I would like to say thank you to our past president, Letecia Haywood, and all of the committee chairs and volunteers that contributed to the successful events last year. The year culmi-
President-Elect Dennis McNabb, FASID 713-805-3710 president-elect@txgc.asid.org

at Ferguson’s. I was totally impressed by the creative costumes. I will definitely have to work on mine for next year. Thank you Designer Floors and Ferguson’s. At our annual meeting, we reinforced our theme for the year, #WeAreASID. The 2016 board members and committee chairs were introduced, and we had a very successful committee sign up. Sandy Gordon, the Chair of the National Board of ASID was
Communications Director Saima Seyar, ASID 713-529-8899 communications@txgc.asid.org
our guest speaker and gave an overview of all the programs that ASID National has developed for our members. Check out their website, www.ASID.org, to see all the tools that are available to you. Most recently, they have added ASID Academy which offers online CEU’s. Thank you to Beth Lindsay, Stephanie Samper, and Walker Zanger for organizing and hosting this special evening.
Professional Development Director Suly Weissman, Allied ASID 713-294-7758 professionaldevelopment@txgc.asid.org
We have a lot to look forward to this year and yes, we do need more volunteers to make it all happen. The ASID Holiday Show House in the Woodlands is open December 5-6, 10-13, 17-20. There is a speed selling event December 16th. Leadership training will be held for the board and committee chairs in January. I
Membership Director Judy Bonica, Industry Partner of ASID 281-202-9235 membership@txgc.asid.org
will be attending the Presidents Forum in January. Our Industry Partner Members are hosting “For the Love of Design” on February 11th at the Bell Tower on 34th. This event will feature a large product expo, and will be followed by an evening of entertainment and dancing with plenty of food, drink, and drawings for prizes.
At-Large Director Larry Boykin, Industry Partner of ASID 713-937-0126 At-large@txgc.asid.org
Our big event for the spring will be Student Career Day on April 1. The Committee chairs, Kevin Hamby and Shasta Swift, are hard at work with their committee, but still need volunteers to help with many areas. Please be a part of this important day for our students – they are our future.
Student Representative Christina Rougerie 713-557-1773 studentrep@txgc.asid.org
Remember, WE ARE ASID. It takes all of us to make our chapter successful. It is my hope that our chapter can help our members develop their skills, enhance their businesses and contribute to our community. Committees and committee chair contacts are posted on our website, www.asidtgcc.org .

2015 ASID TGCC Ruby Award Winners By Shawna Roorda, NCIDQ, ASID, RID The 2015 ASID Ruby Design Awards was the largest Awards event that our Chapter has held in 40 years. The awards drew an astonishing 298 total entries, and a sold out black tie Gala at The House of Blues set the tone for an exciting event. The room glowed with beautiful candlelight, and an intermission allowed members to mix and mingle in between awards. Emcee Letecia Ellis-Haywood recognized members from the last 40 years who have been bestowed the title of Fellow, Chapter Medalists, and Industry Partner Merit Award recipients. As well to commemorate the 40th Anniversary, Past Presidents provided quotes that played over the duration of the night speaking to how ASID has impacted their lives. At the end of the Awards ceremony, an energetic crowd closed out the night with dancing. Winners were featured in the October issue of Modern Luxury Interiors Texas as well as the Fall issue of Houston Design Resources. The November issue of Modern Luxury Houston had a write up about the event as well, along with a few photos. Be sure to keep an eye out for additional coverage in the January issue of Modern Luxury Interiors. Event photography by Clay Bailey of Kaiser Photography. A big thank you to the hardworking committee that put this monumental event together - Chairs Crystal Reeves, Dan Pedersen, and Miguelina Veras, and then members Kendra Garrett, Brooke Bowman, Desiree Guillory, Robina Shepherd, Marilyn Vrana, Adrian Laday, Natalie Koelsch, and our then President Letecia Ellis-Haywood and President Elect Martha Lurie. This successful event would not have been possible without you!
