Celebration of Life It is with great sadness that I tell you that one of our ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter’s original Industry Partners and owner of The Houston Showroom, John L. Broderick, passed away on Saturday, the 21st of May 2016. After returning from Vietnam in 1970 where he proudly served as a Captain in the US Marine Corps., John began working at Suniland Furniture in their carpet department. From there, John began his 45-year career in the industry. Together, John and Kendra opened The Houston Showroom 30 years ago to serve the design community in a unique setting. Today, The Houston Showroom is enjoying their new home at The Design Center of Houston where they look forward to continued success as an Industry Partner. Following a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, a memorial service celebrating his life was conducted on the 1st of June, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, where the Rev. Martin J. Bastian, Vice Rector officiated. In loving memory of John, a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Captain and Commodore, direct memorial contributions to The ELISSA Endowment at the Galveston Historical Foundation, to benefit the Tall Ship ELISSA. Donations may be addressed to Galveston Historical Foundation, c/o The ELISSA Endowment, 2228 Broadway, Galveston, Texas 77550. Donations may also be made online at www.galvestonhistory.org, or by calling Development Officer Judy Wilkie at (409) 765-3407. John was a dedicated Industry Partner, and friend to many in our chapter. We will all miss him, and we send our deepest condolences to his wife Kendra and their family.
