The settling of Georgia by the English along its southern coast left many footprints that recount the history of the 13th British Colony. First, we stop at the Hofwyl Plantation which overlooks the marshlands of the Altamaha River, and was once the center of rice cultivation. Continuing to St Simons, one of the barrier islands of Georgia, we have lunch in the village at Barbara Jean’s before meeting our local guide. See the site of the “Battle of Bloody Marsh” where Oglethorpe stopped the Spanish from invading the colony, before heading to the Fort Frederica National Monument which preserves the archaeological remnants of a fort and town built by James Oglethorpe between 1736 and 1748 to protect the southern boundary. DAY 3: The morning we board a ferry for the cruise to Nova Scotia, or “New Scotland” and the pride of the Maritime Provinces. We arrive in Digby, known for its scallop fishing, and enjoy a special luncheon at the elegant Pines Resort. Our journey takes us along the famed Evangeline Trail immortalized in Longfellow’s epic poem of two people separated by the turbulent times, and becomes alive as we visit Grand Pre, a memorial to the native French-speaking people who were deported to the Louisiana Territory as the British rule of the country began. DAY 9: This morning is a special treat as we make our way to the village of Bar Harbor, which lies at the entrance of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, the largest rock-based island on the Atlantic Coast. The beauty of the sea, mountains, lakes, and woodlands have painted this region into a summer paradise. We will tour this natural wonderland, seeing granite cliffs rising from the ocean, peaks bare at their summits, more varieties of wildflowers than can be counted, and Cadillac Mountain, the highest point along the Atlantic coast of the USA, rising 1530 feet above sea level. DAY 6: Today is certainly the most spectacular day of the entire tour, as our motorcoach follows the famed Cabot Trail in a circle of Cape Breton Island, with the mountains meeting the water and forming the ruggedly magnificent coastline! The climbing road up “Old Smoky” offers breath-taking vistas of the surrounding seacoast as we travel along one of the most scenic and beautiful highways in North America! A local guide will provide information, history, and interesting narration all along the way. Next, we board the ETHAN ALLEN II for a delightful luncheon cruise on Lake Champlain, and the foliage should be spectacular. Lunch is a treat at the Dutch Valley Restaurant with a meal of local foods. In Dover, we visit the Warther Museum, where Master Carver Ernest Warther presents a display of hand-carved wonders. Using only his knife, file, and native ingenuity, he has carved the history of steam locomotives, ivory collections of Great Events in American History, and being a great admirer of Abraham Lincoln, at the age of 80 carved an 8 foot ebony and ivory replica of the Lincoln Funeral Train. During its short history, New Echota was the site of the first Indian language newspaper office, a court case which carried to the U.S. Supreme Court, one of the earliest experiments in national self-government by an Indian tribe, the signing of a treaty which relinquished Cherokee claims to lands east of the Mississippi River, and the assembly of Indians for removal west on the infamous Trail of Tears. FINAL PAYMENT for multiday bus tours, is due 45 days prior to departure date unless otherwise noted. For cruises and trips involving airfare, final payment is due 60 days before departure.

ALTERATIONS: Excursions Unlimited by Kelly Tours reserves the right to alter or vary the trip’s itinerary to ensure that quality standards are provided. This would only happen in an exceptional situation and an equal replacement will be substituted for alterations.

LUGGAGE SERVICE on overnight tours is limited to one bag per person. You may also bring a small carry-on for which you are responsible. Try not to overpack. Trips involving air travel require payment for luggage at the airport on certain airlines (at this time, count on $25.00 – $35.00 per bag each way). The luggage must weigh less than 50 pounds, or the airlines will charge an overweight fee.
MULTI-DAY CANCELLATION POLICY: On multi-day ground trips, there is no cancellation penalty if a trip is cancelled before the final payment due date. There is a 50% cancellation penalty if a trip is cancelled 44-30 days prior to trip departure. There is a 100% cancellation penalty if a trip is cancelled within 30 days of trip departure. On trips involving flights or cruises, deposits are refundable 95 days or more prior to departure minus any vendor deposits which are unrecoverable

Tour prices with airfare included are subject to change based on flight availability and airport of departure. Airline checked baggage fees are not included.
DAY TRIP CANCELLATION POLICY: Day trip payments are transferable, but non-refundable minus the cost of shows or event tickets.
