What is Focus Night? What is Focus Night? Focus Night is your opportunity to meet some of the largest and most interesting engineering companies in Denmark. Focus Night is held at the university in the evening, making it easy for you to attend after the dayâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s studies.

you will be able to ask the questions you may have for the company. After the presentations and question sessions have ended there will be a free dinner during which, you will have the opportunity to network with the representatives from the companies.

Organization of Focus Nights Each Focus Night has a specific theme, which focuses on a certain area of engineering. Normally one Focus Night has participation of between two and four companies who want to meet engineering students and newly graduates. At the Focus Night you will have the possibility to attend two presentations of one hour each. There will be a question session at the end of each presentation, where

Why you should attend Focus Night offers a great opportunity for you to explore and network with leading companies within the diverse fields of engineering, making the events highly relevant, no matter how far you are in your studies. Furthermore, they are a great source for finding a student job, internship or company partner for a project.

Focus Night On Tour What is Focus Night “On Tour”? Focus Night “On Tour” offers you a chance to visit a company’s worksite and experience the work environment up close. This yields a better understanding of the routines of the company, which is not as apparent from the regular Focus Nights. Where is it held? This year’s Focus Nights On Tour will be held at five different companies. Ramboll, COWI, Aalborg Portland and

RTX are in Aalborg. While Martin Professional is in Aarhus, for this night there is arranged bus transportation from Fibigerstræde 11, Aalborg Ø. These companies will organize a tour at their workplace, giving you a unique opportunity for networking and experiencing what could possibly be your future workplace. Be sure to sign up quickly, as there is a limited number of spots for these events.

Vestas Vestas is made up of 21,900 employees of 86 nationalities. We have an eclectic mix of experience and skill, working together to make Vestas’ mission a reality. This is what makes us a truly great company to work for. Vestas development facilities is located in Aarhus. Among others, it is divided into 3 areas, Mechanical, Electrical and Control. These areas work closely together but have different responsibilities. Mechanical Mechanical engineering is responsible for the mechanical design of the Nacelle, tower and the drivetrain. The needed skills in the daily work are within structural design (casted, welded and composites), material science, cooling, heat transfer, gear transmission, lubrication and drive control. The daily work covers analysis of new concepts, interaction, alignment and knowledge sharing with colleagues. Project work on new turbines, patent filing, FE, fatigue- and extreme analysis, working with general development tools, but we also develop our own development tools in order to be able to create even more innovative products than our competitors. Electrical Electrical engineering, are developing all the electrical parts of the turbine and the infrastructure around the turbine in order to design power plants. We are working on both HV equipment,

auxiliary systems, converter HW, converter control and the overall electrical power plant control. We are responsible for designing leading functionality and performance and at the same time reducing the cost so we together with the other engineering areas are designing product with the best value possible for our customers. We have a very high level of technical commitment and involved with Universities worldwide to push our technology projects forward. Control The development of larger and larger turbines with high focus on cost effective components has resulted in turbines with long, slim, flexible blades and tall, flexible towers, requiring control systems with qualities that are comparable with that required for mission-critical control in industries such as aerospace or automotive. During the last years, Vestas has been developing the next generation of control system technology and a high fidelity turbine simulation environment, designed to handle these challenges, with capabilities that will be an essential component for the future vision of promoting more “intelligent” wind turbines.
