As this brochure goes to print we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as a community. DSHA has implemented a health and safety plan approved by the Milwaukee Health Department and will continue to abide by any regulations in order to protect the health and safety of all members of our community—including our Summer Cool participants. Camp enrollment for 2021 will be limited to allow social distancing in each classroom or meeting space. Any other health department requirements in effect during summer 2021 will be enforced.

Did you know there is a science behind the art of cursive writing? Research shows cursive writing stimulates brain synapses and synchronicity between both sides of the brain. This camp will introduce the lost art of cursive handwriting to not only help campers improve their handwriting but improve brain activity as well. Escape Room: Dasher Edition
Escape Rooms are a type of physical adventure game in which a group of people are locked in a room and have to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit. Fabric Fun
Tie dye, puffy paint, and fabric markers, oh my! Each day, you’ll design and decorate a piece of clothing including socks, hats, and more. Everyone loves getting mail! Getting a homemade card is even more special! Let’s create cards for every occasion, including birthday greetings, Christmas cards, thank you notes, get well wishes, and more. We’ll take a “field trip” to the Art Gallery here at DSHA and talk to our artist in residence Sr. Karlyn Cauley, SDS, DS ’61, who makes beautiful greeting cards for a living! Manners Matter
Manners are important in everyday life to be successful socially and later, professionally. This fun, interactive camp will teach essential manners and social skills to help our campers become more confident in any situation. June 28-July 2 | 9-11 a.m. | $50

Outdoor Fun!
Scavenger hunts, huge games of tag, kickball, mini Olympics, and more! Join us for some good ol’ outdoor fun while making new friends and soaking up some vitamin D. If the Wisconsin weather doesn’t want to be our friend, no worries, we’ll take the fun inside to our wonderful gym to play and explore. Get a jump start on fractions. Campers will begin each day with a story and then see how fractions are part of that story and are part of everyday life! We LOVE our pets! Here’s a camp where you can learn about furry and feathered friends. Whether you have a pet or wish you did, we can learn about the health benefits of having an animal in your home, why breeds look and behave so differently, and how to keep them happy and healthy! Our Catholic faith is full of role models to help us live in God’s beautiful world—they’re called SAINTS. Let’s learn about some of them as we read stories of their lives, learn where and when they lived, and make some saint-related crafts, prayer cards, and rosaries. Science and Math of Cooking
How do milk, sugar, and salt turn into ice cream? What does gluten do to bread? How does milkfat affect the taste of cheese? Explore the science behind these and other popular foods through hands-on experiments. After a week of measuring, cooking, and testing, you will leave with delicious recipes, mental math tricks, and plenty of fun food facts to impress your family and friends! The rainbows of broken colors and shapes in bright, beautiful stained glass are like puzzles of light. Truly a sight to behold. With easy and safe techniques girls can bring that beauty home as they create their own mini masterpieces. Writing for the Stage
Great theatre begins with the story. This camp is for girls interested in theatre or writing in general. We will read excerpts from different play genres, watch parts of successful productions, and write your own short plays. Rev up for the new school year! Spend five glorious days at DSHA in this fantastic introduction to your first year. Forensics Boot Camp
Extemporaneous speaking, dramatic interpretation, poetry, prose, and more! Suitable for seasoned competitors or beginners entering high school, this camp is designed to prepare you for the 2021-22 forensics season. In a fun, supportive atmosphere, you will build on your strengths to refine your communication skills and learn the art of effective delivery. Other areas of focus will include voice and breath control, peer coaching, and using mindfulness to gain a competitive edge. Leadership Boot Camp
Leadership is a big part of being a Dasher and this boot camp will get you in shape to be a leader at DSHA. This day-long experience will build a connection within the class of 2025 as well as a sense of community while inspiring students to be leaders from their first day at DSHA. Group activities focused on teamwork, critical thinking, and real-life scenarios combined with fun ice breakers will prepare freshmen to make an immediate impact at DSHA. FAQ | Community Theatre Works, Summer 2021 Edition Is space limited? 20 campers may register for each level — reserve your spot today! Who will teach the camps? The DSHA Theatre faculty and staff will lead the camps, along with high school theatre students as assistants. DSHA Theatre Faculty and Producing Director Amanda Marsala will run production aspects of the workshop; DSHA Director of Theater, Choir, & Liturgical Music Zach Ziegler will direct acting and singing instruction; and choreographer Christal Wagner will assist with dancing and movement instruction. Are boys able to participate? CTW is open to both boys and girls in grades 5-8. Do I need to audition? No auditions are required, and prior experience is not needed. Will there be space for high school students or adults this year? CTW is traditionally available for both high school students and community adults. Due to limited space and to maintain social distancing, CTW will be reserved for grades 5-8 this summer. 38

Meet the Summer Cool Staff Our Summer Cool staff is comprised of DSHA coaches, staff, current students, and alumnae, each dedicated to sharing their expertise and love for DSHA with a community of future Dashers. The camp faculty will be led by Summer Cool Administrator and Dean of Student Affairs Ruby Brock, DSHA ’92,, assisted by Summer Cool Coordinator Tess Zukowski, DSHA ’13.. All staff members are professional educators or college students focusing on education and communications. They look forward to working together to bring the most positive, safe, and exciting experience to our campers. 39

Payment is due in full at the time of registration. All camps are located at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School unless otherwise noted. DSHA is conveniently situated near Wauwatosa and Brookfield, in the Mayfair neighborhood at 4257 N. 100th Street, Milwaukee. DSHA reserves the right to cancel any camp for any reason, including low enrollment, and full refunds will be made for camps cancelled by DSHA. Prior to May 15th, withdrawals are eligible for a refund of the camp fee, minus a $10 withdrawal fee. After May 15th, no refunds for camp withdrawals will be made without a medical excuse. Camp registrations are non-transferable. If a camp is cancelled for low enrollment, campers will be given the opportunity to enroll in another camp and only pay the difference in fees or receive a refund. Daily attendance is encouraged and expected for the continuity of camps. Campers should be dropped off and picked up for their camps within 15 minutes of the start and end times of their camp. To ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, students must be in a registered camp session if they wish to remain on campus during Summer Cool hours.
