GREETINGS FROM DST IJAH B. Hey there Club Secretaries and Treasurers!  ♫Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la♫. The Christmas Season is here already and I’m extremely excited! I’d like to extend my congratulations to all the Key Clubbers who received awards at their school’s Award/ Prize Giving Ceremony. It is extremely great to see that we are not only excelling in giving tremendous service to our home, school and community but we are also excelling in our studies. Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy is to have the real spirit of Christmas. May this Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright new year. So the Christmas season is finally here!  Being a part of this wonderful organization Christmas must mean something different to you, that is, instead of waiting to see which gifts you'll get, you are thinking about how you can make a difference in someone’s. DISTRICT POSITIONS In order to run for any position on the District or International Board, you must have served at least ONE year on your club executive board i.e. you must have served as a club President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer or Bulletin Editor. The Candidacy Forms and additional documents are due on or by Saturday December 14, 2013. Documents One Should Have If They Wish To Vie For A District or International Office:  A letter of endorsement from their home club - signed by their Faculty Advisor and club president.  A letter of consent and endorsement from their schools - signed by their Principal (or in the absence of their principal, their Vice principal).  A letter of consent from their parent or guardian. This should be accompanied by copy of your parent’s/ guardian’s driver’s licenses or identification card signed and stamped by a Justice of Peace.  A letter of endorsement from their sponsoring Kiwanis Club - signed by their Kiwanian Advisor.  A signed copy of the respective Service Agreement Form.  A signed copy of the Candidacy Form.  Must have a valid passport and visa that will not be expired before July 2015. (If you will be running for the position of District Governor or any International Position).

DISTRICT LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE (DCON) 2014 District Leadership and Educational Conference will be held at the Moneague College, St. Ann on Friday March 7, 2014 – Sunday March 9, 2014. The costs and deadlines are as follow:  Early Bird: $7,500 – In order to qualify for the early bird payment, the full sum of $7,500 or a sum of $4,000 MUST be paid on or by Friday January 17, 2014. If one chooses to pay the $4,000, the balance must be paid by Friday February 7, 2014.  Regular - $9,000 – This is due on or by Friday February 7, 2014.  Onsite - $10, 000 – After Friday February 7, 2014, the cost is $10,000. Please note: Persons who register onsite is not guaranteed a room. So it is advised that you aim either for the early bird or regular fee. You should have received the DCON forms in an email I sent on November 23rd. Please ensure that you issue these forms to club members who are interested in going to DCON before you go off on Christmas Break.

PREFERRED CHARITIES Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals In 1997, Key Club made Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals a preferred charity for its members to support. Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital.

Key Club members, like you, can support the March of Dimes each semester: in the fall, raise awareness by hosting programs throughout November for Prematurity Awareness Month and in the spring, raise funds by participating in March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest annual fundraiser.

NOTICES DISTRICT EDUCATIONAL AND LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (DCON 2014) Early bird fee for DCON is due on or by January 17, 2014. The full payment of $7,500 or a payment of $4000 can be made to be qualified for the early bird fee.

MONTHLY REPORT FORMS (HARDCOPIES) The deadline for submission of the hard copies of the monthly report forms from April – November 2013 have passed. If you have not yet submitted them please contact me immediately.

VISAS TO ATTEND KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2014

DISTRICT POSITIONS (2014 - 2015) Those persons wishing to run for district positions should fill out the necessary forms and have the necessary documents ready to be submitted on or by Saturday December 14, 2013.

If one wishes to obtain a US Visa via the district they must notify DA Navara or Gov. Chevon no later than Friday December 20, 2013 because the deadline for VISA interviews is January 31, 2014.
