Message
from
Today, over a million Filipinos in the UAE join our compatriots all over the globe in celebrating 125 years of Philippine independence and nationhood.
Our forefathers won the freedom our nation enjoys to this day, through hard work, perseverance and sacrifices. They were willing to lay down their lives and give everything because their vision of a free and prosperous nation was not for themselves but for their children and for the future generation, which made possible the birth of our country, the Philippines. These are encapsulated in the concise formulation of the theme for this year›s celebration: «Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
This theme closely mirrors the heroism that the Filipinos in the UAE exhibit to this day. The first wave of Filipinos that stepped into UAE soil came here to work braved the uncertainties, the pain of being away from their loved ones, strengthened by the thought of being able to provide a better future for their families back home. Thus, they wrote the beginning of the narrative of the Filipino people that helped build the foundations of this nation fifty-two years ago. Now, we are a million strong, the third largest expatriate population in the UAE by all accounts, found in all levels in all sectors in the UAE, continuing to help shape the future of this nation not only economically, but also as an integral part of the multicultural fabric of this country.
Not only in numbers are we Filipinos growing, but in going around the various emirates and meeting our countrymen, I meet and come across kababayans who, armed with the same perseverance and faith of our forefathers, have progressed in life and have gone on to also help others. Countless stories of kababayans with humble beginnings as a worker in the UAE that eventually become CEOs, entrepreneurs, business owners. This is the narrative we Filipinos are weaving in the UAE, stories of triumph over adversities in life, because of our people›s tenacity, love of family, and faith in God.
Perhaps following the same trajectory, the story of the friendly relations between the Philippines and the UAE is also growing, expanding and moving towards previously uncharted territories such as space cooperation, artificial intelligence, defense and soon, into climate change, renewable energy, and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), being finalized and negotiated.
You, the Filipinos in the UAE, are my co-Ambassadors that are working on ways to bring the Philippines and the UAE closer together, by introducing to this country, its people and the 200+ nationalities that reside in this country, our culture, heritage, our food, the beauty of our natural resources, our warmth as a people. In doing so, you are continuing the work of our forefathers, in writing the future of a strong, prosperous and free Philippine republic.
The Migrant Workers Office – Dubai and Northern Emirates joins the Filipino nation in the commemoration of the 125th Independence Day and Nationhood of the Republic of the Philippines on the 12th of June 2023. Carrying the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan (Freedom. Future. History),” we pay tribute to our forebears who gallantly fought for our freedom and honor them by living in unity towards building a strong and remarkable future that holds ties with and unceasingly pays respect to the history of our hard-earned independence.
The past years have been challenging and lives have been lost during the COVID19- pandemic just as how our ancestors sacrificed their lives to bring back our independence, but I must commend our civil servants, particularly those in the Migrant Workers Offices, who continued to deliver services despite threats on their physical and mental health living up with their mandate to protect the rights and promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos; More importantly, I pay utmost respect to our modern-day heroes, the Overseas Filipino Workers, for their resounding drive and dexterity to survive and keep on working for the future of their families back home. Together, we have weathered the storm.
We also call on our Overseas Filipino Workers and co-workers in the civil service to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and sacrifice and continue living as fitting example of Filipinos who value freedom at the highest esteem and always honor our ancestors who brought us the liberty that we truly deserve.
Warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations on the momentous occasion of the 125th Independence Day celebration of OFWs here in the UAE. This is a time of great pride and reflection as we commemorate the remarkable journey of the Filipino people and their unwavering spirit.

“Many of us today are struggling. But I believe that with our strong faith we can survive and overcome everything for the sake of our loved ones,». The teaching of our parents is that in the midst of trials, let›s not forget to pray and be thankful for the protection we have achieved in the midst of events,” Every time I talk someone in the Philippines I always say this “If you have loved ones who work abroad, please make sure to always check with them and ask them how they have been. It’s difficult to be alone to earn a living in a foreign country. Make sure to make them feel loved all the time.”

Online travel agencies have undoubtedly revolutionized the way we plan and book our trips. Their convenience and vast array of options make them a popular choice for many travellers. However, there is still value in keeping the traditional approach to travel planning and incorporating social media into the mix. This combination can provide a more personalized and tailored service to clients.
While online travel agencies offer a wide range of destinations, flights, and accommodations, they may lack the personal touch and individualized recommendations that can make a trip truly exceptional. By embracing the traditional way of travel planning, travel agents can build relationships with clients, understand their preferences, and curate personalized itineraries that cater to their specific needs and desires.
Incorporating social media into the travel planning process allows travel agents to go beyond the transactional aspect and connect with clients on a more personal level. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter provide opportunities to engage in real-time conversations, share travel tips, showcase unique experiences, and create a sense of community among travellers. Clients can reach out directly to the travel agent through these channels, fostering a more interactive and personalized relationship.
Moreover, social media platforms enable travel agents to gather insights about clients› interests, preferences, and travel aspirations. By monitoring their social media activities, agents can gain a deeper understanding of their clients and tailor their recommendations accordingly. This data-driven approach allows for a more targeted and personalized service, ensuring that clients receive recommendations and offers that align with their travel style.
Another advantage of utilizing social media is the ability to provide instant updates, travel alerts, and real-time assistance. Travel agents can proactively communicate with clients through direct messages, comments, or private groups, ensuring that they stay informed and supported throughout their journey. This level of engagement and responsiveness adds a layer of personalized service that online travel agencies may struggle to match.
In conclusion, while online travel agencies
offer convenience and a wide range of options, blending the traditional approach to travel planning with the utilization of social media allows travel agents to provide a more personalized, tailored, and interactive service to clients. By building relationships, understanding preferences, and leveraging social media platforms, travel agents can create memorable and customized travel experiences that cater to the unique needs and desires of their clients.
