We made it to 100! This is no small feat in the magazine publishing world. We’ve been at it now since late-1999 and we’ve evolved as the industry has. The scene has changed so much since those early days that it’s fun to look back more than a decade ago to see what was considered hot. So we went digging through the archives to pull out some of the best examples of the styles that were a reflection of the time period. A huge thank you is due to all those who have subscribed, picked up DUB at their local newsstands, advertised or simply followed us over the years. We really do put in a lot of hard work with our small crew each and every day to remain the original automotive lifestyles magazine! We’ve also jam packed No. 100 with some great reads…

AUTONEWSWIRE AUTOMOTIVE NEWS LAMBORGHINI CENTENARIO ROADSTER Lamborghini recently announced that it’ll be offering a roadster version of its Centenario Coupe that was unveiled in Geneva. Only 20 units will be available and it’s practically identical to the coupe version, with a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 770 hp and rear-wheel steering on the AWD exotic. For a tighter turning circle, the rear tires turn in at low speeds in the opposite direction of the steering angle. But at high speeds, those rear tires turn in the same direction as the front steering angle for better stability. Adding to the Centenario’s handling skills is its Lamborghini Dynamic Steering and magnetorheological suspension.

RAM REBEL TRX COULD BE THE RAPTOR KILLER The Ford Raptor could soon be having a serious competitor thanks to Dodge and their addition of the Hellcat engine in Ram’s Rebel TRX concept. The powerful truck uses a detuned version of the Hellcat’s 707 hp 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, which still produces a monstrous 575 dirt-kickin’ ponies. It’s also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an off-road-ready 4WD system, allowing it to hit the trails like a beast. They’ve beefed up the suspension and added 37” off-road tires to handle any terrain. And in the looks department, it’s all business with its taller hood for the supercharger, 5” side-exit exhaust pipes and 6” wider track. Inside, there’s suede seating, six-point harnesses, action camera mount and nylon door pulls. Dodge is trying to compete with the Raptor, but even though the concept has more power and better equipment, it’ll be crazy expensive...but you could always build your own! 26

opo from TS Designs is an industry icon, so when he needed to complete the sound system of his son’s new Ford Mustang, Jeremiah Mayeda of Al & Ed’s Autosound South Bay stepped up to the plate to complete the install. “He just dropped it off and said for us to do our thing,” Mayeda recalls. Like all of Topo’s other builds, the Mustang features a wide body, big wheels and a custom interior and just needed a sound system to complement it.

As for the audio enhancements, Mayeda and his shop concentrated on a clean build to match the Mustang while showcasing their creativity and style. “We’re known for customizing out-of-the-box systems,” he describes. “Audio was the most important part of this build and Kenwood was the equipment supplier we wanted from day one. They’re one of the most recognized names in the 12 volt community and their products have the high end style and performance we needed to complete this build on an already amazing looking car!”

WE’RE KNOWN FOR CUSTOMIZING OUT-OF-THEBOX SYSTEMS. AUDIO WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS BUILD AND KENWOOD WAS THE EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER WE WANTED FROM DAY ONE.

According to Mayeda, the highlight of the system is definitely the custom trunk that boasts two powerful 10” eXcelon XR-W1004 subwoofers. There’s also a set of eXcelon 7” 2-way XR-1800P component speakers up front and back, along with eXcelon XR4004 and XR600-1 amplifiers powering it all. Although pros at installs, Mayeda did admit to running into one minor problem with this particular system. “It was more a technical problem that we had to figure out,” he says. “We found out that all of the Mustangs that have the EcoBoost motors have an active noise

cancellation mic that simulates the sound of the exhaust through the speakers when the gas pedal is pressed and the RPM’s are increased. The mic would cause the sound that was amplified to rumble when you step on the gas pedal, we found the location of the module and simply unplugged the mic.” But other than that, the install was a cinch and the result was exactly what everyone wanted - a loud system to match its loud exterior. “This Mustang as far as visual style blows away most builds of its kind! It is functional and a perfect fit to complete the overall look and performance.”

t’s a typical sunny Southern California day in Hollywood, CA and we’re getting ready to shoot comedian Kevin Hart for his second DUB cover. He’s as animated as he is on-screen, taking to Facebook Live and Snapchat for his legions of fans. As he goes into each of his rides, he jokes with his crew and answers questions live for those admiring his collection. In fact, Hart has come a long way in the past five years since we last featured him. The comedian and actor has starred in a vast amount of movies and is now one of Hollywood’s top earning actors. He’s recently ventured out into the business world with a stake in Tommy John underwear and is always growing his Hartbeat Productions. The last time we spoke to him, his goal was to get to a “mogul stage.” And although it might seem as if he’s achieved mogul status, the comedian thinks he has a long way to go.

“No, I’m not there yet,” he admits. “Nowhere near where I want to be. I’m making amazing steps in the right direction, but there’s still more that needs to be done. It’s a very complex word and just as you get closer to it, you realize just how much more you can do. Right now, my business mind is catching up to my entertainment mind.” With laser-focused eyes on the prize, Hart attributes his success thus far to his hard work and dedication, something his mom instilled in him. “It was beat in my head not to do things without finishing them,” he adds. Not only does that hold true to his career, but also his fleet. As an automotive connoisseur, Hart has amassed quite an impressive collection of rides that vary from fine exotics to restored classics and represent different stages and achievements in his career. His crown jewel is his 1967 Mustang he calls Eleanor, which took almost two years to complete. It’s his longest and most comprehensive restoration to date and he’s still doing small tweaks to it. “That one’s done up from top to bottom and has all the bells and whistles,” he notes. “But come to think of it, I did one bad thing; I can’t drive stick so I made it automatic…don’t laugh at me.”

For his 32nd birthday, he gifted himself a 1966 Pontiac GTO that has also been upgraded over the years and now rolls on Forgiato wheels, fuel injection, navigation, power windows and a custom sound system. He calls her “Tre Deuce” for obvious reasons. In 2012, he purchased his Mercedes-Benz SLS, which he calls “Black Out.” “It was my very first big car purchase, I wasn’t in debt and could afford to splurge and treat myself so I did,” he says. “It’s a representation of my hard work paying off.” “White Lightning” is what he affectionately calls his Ferrari 458 which has been his dream car since he was a kid. “I’d always tell myself that at some time in my career, I’d get a Ferrari. As a kid you would always see cars and say ‘I can’t wait to get that,’ and for me that was the Ferrari. It just sticks with me because it was my childhood love.” MAGAZINE 2016

Hart’s crown jewel is his 1967 Ford Mustang he calls “Eleanor” which took almost 2 years to complete.

“The Sprinter was something that I got after I got a DUI and I was like, ‘You know drinking and driving is just stupid.’ It’s something that people don’t think about and you don’t realize how dumb it is until you get caught doing it and realize the lives you put in danger. It serves as my mobile command center - if I’m tired or if I ever put myself in a situation where I can’t drive I’ll always have the driver and Sprinter available. It makes me be a lot more responsible.” He also has a G63, which is more like his daily driver, as well as a special G65 that he brought to the shoot. “It’s fast and as you can see I love fast cars,” he explains. “That V12 is something that’s limited and there weren’t too many of them in the States when I purchased it and that’s why I got it. It’s more of a collector’s item. It has a ridiculous system in it!”

And finally there’s his Jeep Wrangler which was gifted to him by the “Plastic Cup Boyz” after the success of his massive “What Now?” comedy tour. It was actually on track to become one of the biggest comedy tours ever and he’s one of the few comedians to ever fill a stadium. “I call her ‘Jeep Nasty’ and she’s heavily modified. It’s a Rubicon and was a gift from my guys after our ‘What Now?’ tour that broke so many records, they surprised me with it at the Lincoln Financial Field.” With a large fleet of rides, Hart admits that he gives them all love, but has a few that get extra. He likes to keep low mileage on his old schools and Ferrari, while driving the Jeep, G-Wagons and Sprinter more while doing his everyday tasks. “I’m blessed enough to be in a position of having a rotation of rides and can obtain a hobby like this I can actually afford,” he admits.

For all of his automotive needs, Hart goes to his boys at Stealth Motorworks in Van Nuys, CA. Owner Chris Mills has been friends with Hart for the last 20 years and he’s been helping with his car collection for the last four years. “The most challenging build was the 1967 Eleanor Mustang that was built from the ground up at Stealth Motorworks,” he confesses. “Nothing in it is stock and everything on it was replaced with high-performance products and custom-built parts, powered by a 650 hp, 427 all-aluminum engine, custom-built for this car. The handling is tight with front and rear independent suspension system. This car is a true beast with nothing but the best on it.” As a car lover, Hart has seen a lot of vehicles that Mills has had over the years and admires his taste in customizations, allowing him to design his cars the way Mills would do his own. “It’s great working with Kevin because not only is he a mega superstar but he is a down to earth personal friend so that just makes business run smooth with us because of the trust factor that we have built through the years.”

For his next big purchase, Hart’s all about making an investment and is thinking of going with an original Gullwing or rebuilding a Chevy Chevelle like he did his Mustang. “I’m looking for something that will hold its value over time,” he mentions. “Not sure if I’ll go the collectors route or will build something from the ground up again.” But right now, Hart is busy enjoying all of his rides that he gives equal attention to whenever he’s in town or on a break from his ridiculously busy schedule. Currently, he’s filming the Jumanji remake with Dwayne Johnson and will be filming the Intouchables after the new year, which will be Hart’s attempt at something more serious. “I want to challenge myself and do some drama, but you don’t rush that. It happens when it’s supposed to. I just want to show that I can wear many hats if given the chance. And if people don’t give you the chances, you have to be strong enough to take them.” 76

Besides his movie career, Hart also has a music one as his alter ego “Chocolate Droppa,” who will be releasing an album soon. “He’s a character who has goals of taking the rap world by storm,” he describes. “In his mind, he’s the best rapper to ever do it. For me, it’s just a way to poke fun at the rap game and I have a lot of fun doing it. You just have to mix it up and keep things fresh.” Which is just one reason why he’s taken an investor role in the Tommy John underwear line and is excited to take the brand to the next level. “I didn’t want just another celebrity deal with this,” he details. “When I do something, I believe in it and this is real. It’s me in the position of ownership.” And if his career is any testament to how he’ll grow the brand, then it seems everyone who’s anyone will be trading in their Calvin Kleins for some Tommy John pieces!

t’s hard to believe that rapper Fetty Wap has been in the hip-hop game for just over three years. But he only became interested in music in 2013, starting off as a rapper, but later deciding to diversify his talents as a singer. His single “Trap Queen,” which was uploaded on Soundcloud in 2014, is what placed the up-and-coming rapper on our radars in 2015, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2015, and solidified him a record deal with 300 Entertainment. Then his “679” and “My Way” singles made him a force to be reckoned with, while his self-titled debut album came in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 that same year. Now a little more than a year later, Fetty Wap is back with his sophomore effort King Zoo (based off his Zoo Gang), which he details will contain a whole new side of Fetty. “It’s going to be a lot different, with more feeling into it,” he mentions. “I really sat down and took my time with the music. It’s more mature than the first album and definitely has a different sound than what people hear from me. It’s still a party sound, but in a more mature Fetty Wap way.” But don’t think he’s totally wandered away from his “ignorant R&B” sound that he refers to his music as being; he just twisted it up a bit to create something new that he thinks all will enjoy. And if they don’t, oh well… 86

“If it don’t work, it don’t work,” he explains. “I don’t regret anything. All I can do is make music that I think is good. Can’t really worry about much else. I’m always thinking of my fans and make music for them. So if they don’t like it, at least I tried.” But despite his fairly laid back attitude toward the potential reception of the upcoming album, Fetty does admit that he did feel some pressure to bang out another platinum piece to follow up the commercial success of the first one. 88

“Yeah, I had a lot more pressure,” the 25-year-old confesses. “When I heard the album went platinum, I was like, ‘Damn, now I gotta go hard.’ You gotta try to do it again. But I can’t try, just gotta do it. That’s what comes with the game. You either get better or you let it get to you. I’m not going to let it get to me. Going to go out and do it hard. Can’t let myself go wrong. ” So far, he’s proving just how hard he’s willing to go and his latest joint will prove

that. And if it doesn’t, maybe his vast car collection will. Since signing a deal, his success has allowed him the opportunity to collect an impressive fleet. Totaling 27 rides, Fetty Wap’s love of cars is definitely growing with each check he gets. “I like speed, horsepower and torque,” he reveals about the type of vehicles he prefers.

For the shoot, Fetty chose to showcase a few of his favorite Benzes – an AMG GLE63 S, CLS63 AMG and C63 AMG. “I love AMGs. The CLS63 was my first and ever since then I only wanted to get those rides,” he adds. Right now his favorite is the GLE63 S because he likes how it “drives and handles like a race car.” “It’s all black and that’s hard to find stock. Usually you have to get it customized to look like that. I love it so much that I actually took it on tour with me.” As for the rest of his garage, he has a lot more BMWs and a Ferrari 458 Italia. But the one dream ride that he’s looking to add fairly soon is a LaFerrari. “It’s a lot easier to get now than two years ago,” he admits about his dream ride becoming a reality. “I’ll be getting it very soon when the timing is right.” We’re guessing that’s going to be after he finds out his King Zoo has gone platinum like his first!

eith McGill’s car collection doesn’t look like many of his peers. Instead of buying countless exotics and luxury vehicles, the Oakland Raiders cornerback prefers the import scene, opting for high performance tuner vehicles. Having grown up in Southern California during The Fast and Furious days, McGill took a liking to the performance-centered automotive niche at a young age and has grown his passion for it over the years. “After watching that first race between Paul Walker and Vin Diesel in the first The Fast and Furious is what did it for me,” he explains. “I was just hooked from there.” Before he went to school in Utah and got drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2014, McGill was able to get up close and personal with his passion by working at Road Race Engineering in Santa Fe Springs, CA, which in turn provided him the skills and knowledge needed to build up his own WRX and RX-7, as well as his Nissan GT-R that was shown at last year’s SEMA Show. Instead of opting for a Liberty Walk or Rocket Bunny kit as so many usually do, McGill went with something totally different – an Aimgain GT Widebody Kit, which is anything but ordinary. The kit, which comprises of a front bumper, front lip, side step, rear bumper, rear spoilers, wide

front and rear fenders plus a unique trunk spoiler that all combine to create a wide body beast! To fill up the space in the wheel wells, color-matched Rotiform wheels were added and pull off the aggressive Stormtrooper MAGAZINE 2016

façade perfectly! A complete GT-R Air Lift Performance suspension package minimizes the gap from the wheel to the body, while an Air Lift Performance 3H digital air management system controls it all. “I was the first with the Aimgain kit,” he admits. “I like the way it looks from the rear. The rear fender flares actually wrap around the backside of the car like a kit from Liberty Walk or a Rocket Bunny one, but it looks more flush.”

Although he had done some work on it before (primarily under the hood and a few carbon fiber pieces), the GT-R was totally transformed once it was destined to appear at SEMA. And even though some might think it’s completely done, McGill details that there are small tweaks he’ll make later. “No build is ever finished. You’re constantly changing something since you don’t want to pull up to a car show with the same work. You’re always trying to change something, but for the most part, it’s done.” 100

Despite his busy schedule during the season, McGill still tries to make it out to shows and meets whenever he has the chance to display the GT-R. “I have a great support system and if I can’t make it, then one of my guys will take it and represent,” he says. “I try to get the GT-R to as many shows and meets as possible and definitely don’t garage it. I drive my car a lot, almost daily. I don’t just want to park it because that’s not why I built it. I want to enjoy my ride and I definitely do that.”

And when he takes it himself, he’s not the kind of guy that’s flashy about it. He usually just drops it off and then wanders off so that people can enjoy the car and not his NFL status. “I don’t show up in Raiders gear or anything,” he laughs. “I definitely separate myself from football and my hobby. Football is my job and the car scene is what brings me peace of mind, so I enjoy separating the two.” Although McGill is only two years into his professional football career, he’s already thinking ahead and his future goals. “I want to own my own shop one day. Football is what I’m doing now to support myself financially for the future. I’m just getting my name out there, which is why I go to as many shows and meets as I can. I want to get it out there that I know what I’m doing and have knowledge of the industry. I’m out to show that I have a unique way to do things and get people to understand the way I build cars.” 102

few weeks before the start of the 2016-2017 NFL season, Akeem Ayers received shocking news after he was dismissed from the LA Rams during pre-season. It was no secret that the L.A. native and former UCLA Bruin standout player was excited to be back home playing in the city he grew up in, so when he got the news, he was disappointed but took it in stride. It wasn’t long before the Indianapolis Colts made public their decision to pick up the Super Bowl Champion outside linebacker and add him to their roster. “It really doesn’t matter what team I’m on,” he confesses. “I just set out to do better this year and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.” Before this season started, Ayers sought out to come back in the best shape he’s ever been in so that he can have one of his best years thus far. He focused more on his diet and trained differently, adding that instead of his usual weight lifting routine, he mixed it up to do more agility work so that he can increase his quickness on the field. And even though he originally thought he’d be working toward his best for the Rams, he’s still bringing the same game plan with the Colts. “My goals haven’t changed and I’m still out to be a productive player,” he says. “I’m going to be a team player and just do the best I can even though I’m with a different team.” But Ayers also admits that he’s not shaken up by the whole ordeal and that the Colts actually fit his skill set better. “This team has different schemes that better suit what I do best, so I fit in perfectly with what they do here.”

There’s no doubt that Ayers has passion for the game – something that’s been with him seen his college days at UCLA. Football wasn’t always his plan he admits. But when he hit high school, he realized his talents and wanted to see how far it could take him. “When you enjoy doing something, it’s not hard to go out and really do it if you want it that bad,” he details. “It’s not a chore and you don’t feel forced. It just comes natural to you and you want to do your best because you love doing it. Because I didn’t have to force myself, it made it easier to really commit and dedicate myself to get to where I am now.” That dedication has allowed the 27-yearold to play in the NFL for the past seven seasons and has been able to acquire a few of his dream rides. His Rolls-Royce Phantom is the vehicle he’s always wanted and he finally pulled the trigger on the lavish ride two years ago. The Phantom is his car of choice when he wants to feel regal, choosing his Dodge Challenger SRT8 when he feels the need for some American muscle and opting for his Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG when it’s all business. 114

“My favorite is the Benz because it’s different from my other cars, which are all blacked out,” he describes. This one is matte white with black wheels and black accents.” But all of his whips have one thing in common – Asanti Wheels. “I feel like they have something for every type of car and I like that they have such a large variety to choose from.” Other mods he usually adds include wraps, sound systems and accents, admitting that he can never really leave them completely stock. Right now, there’s only one ride that’s missing in Ayers’ fleet – a McLaren, which he says he wants in a bright, bold color. Although he’s not trying to make any big car purchases any time soon, he does admit that his next car will definitely be his new dream ride.

But until then, he’ll be grinding it out on the field every game day for the Colts, despite almost playing for his hometown team. “Yeah I was excited about it – who wouldn’t want to go back home and play, but everything happens for a reason,” he says. “But I’m just excited to play football in general. I’m happy to have the opportunity and grateful to still be in the NFL, playing for a great team.” 116

How did the idea for the shop come about? Kenny: Our very first shop was Drop Zone in 1999. That was the point where people/ friends kept asking me to work on their cars. We also teamed up with a local painter, and that was where it all began. That was during our Lowrider days - hydros, rims, paint and paintbrush was all you needed. To make our shop a reality, we took the last $10,000 we had in our personal savings and got a warehouse, tools, inventory and business cards.

How long did it take for you to set up shop? What challenges were there? Kenny: As Drop Zone, it only took about a week. Unfortunately, the partnership between us and the painter had its challenges and the business relationship had to be terminated. From there itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s evolved over the years to different shops, including Drop Zone from 1999-2003, B & C Industries from 2003-2010 and I-95 Motorsports from 2010 to present. But weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve been in the auto customizing industry now for 17 years.

How have you grown as a business over the years? How has your shop’s work/ skills/services grown since you first started? Kenny: We have grown as a business in many areas, we use to just work on cars. Now we’re car builders. We do frame-off restorations. We’re the Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington of S. Florida. We have also learned the business nature of being a shop owner. That it is in fact better to do it yourself than to look for a partner. What’s your shop’s speciality? What are you guys known for? Kenny: Our speciality is frame-off restorations. Being fabricators is our true skill and we are known for being top builders of the vehicle known as the donk - 1971-1976 Chevy Caprices or Impalas.

What’s been your craziest request from a customer or most wild build and what was done to it? Kenny: We put an air ride system in a Hummer limo. There was a lot of fabrication done to the suspension of the dual axle 40 foot beast. The outcome was that it was the only Hummer limo with air ride suspension and it could do front/back/side to side/ pancake. What are you most proud of about your shop? Kenny: I am most proud of the standards we put into our builds. We are known for doing it one way – “the right way.” Our mantra towards customizing is, “You get what you pay for.” How many builds do you have in the shop at any given time? Kenny: We usually have anywhere from 1520 builds going on at the shop. Some are quick jobs and some builds can last up to two years.

Any notable celebrity clients? Kenny: Celebrity clients include: Al Harris, Jerome James, Marquis Daniels, Jason Pierre Paul, John Brown. They are all sports celebrities. Half the time, we don’t even know who they are until a relationship is developed and they end up telling us. Because, all our customers are treated equal whether you are a regular Joe off the streets or a celebrity. Prices nor quality of work does not change regardless of status. What does the future of the shop hold? Kenny: I can’t predict the future but my wife and I live by the slogan, “You never know who is going to walk through our door.” But, we hope for a reality car builders series one day. We have done a few pilots for people just waiting to see the response. You never know with this industry. How do you compare yourselves to other shops? Kenny: We don’t compare ourselves to other shops due to the fact we know the quality of product that they use. As well as the fact that if you go visit other shops, they usually only do one thing there and subcontract the rest of the work, which makes the car go from shop to shop. We are known for being a one-stop shop. You don’t have to worry about coming to see your car and it not being there. This is why we compare ourselves to car builders Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington ‘cause they are true car builders, not just a shop. Can you predict any customizing trends we should look out for in the future? Kenny: Chrome is starting to become a thing of the past. I see a lot more powder coating, painting, gold plating, anodizing, wrapping, etc. of rims.

Kenny: I own: • 2003 Ford F-150 that has been completely converted to a 2003 Lincoln Navigator front and rear. e love Texas so much that we did two shows in the Lone Star state this year - Dallas back in May and Houston on Sunday, July 17th at the Houston NRG Center. The city’s car culture brought some heat, as hundreds of customs, exotics and more were on display. But this year’s LFTD & LVLD scene was huge, with 4x4s and lifted trucks and Jeeps everywhere you turned! 713 Motoring was holding it down for H-town, taking home “Best Retail Shop Booth,” while Specialty Forged came out strong and brought their A-game with all their rigs and wheels. Other wheel companies that represented at the show included Forgiato, Lexani, Savini and Giovanna, showcasing their newest wheel styles along with some of the baddest whips in Texas! And Houston native Slim Thug came out with a few of his rides and went home with some trophies. The concert stage was also on fire, with performances by 50 Cent and the G-Unit, Fat Joe, O.T. Genasis, Plies, Young Greatness, Ro James, Desiigner, Lil Twon, T-Wayne, GT Garza, Trill Sammy and Dice Soho, Kirko Bangz and XO, Blushhh Music, and Fat Pimp and Lil Ronny. INDUSTRY INSIDER CELEB CONNECT What was your road to success like? As an account executive for Clear Channel Radio (now iHeartMedia), I used that as a platform to network and make contacts with companies. My time there was also used to organically build relationships in music and entertainment. Actually, that is where I met Kevin Hart. After a couple years there I had built a decent list of brands that I had good relationships with and was recruited to work at an advertising agency. There, I continued to pursue my goal of continuing to grow. I developed more contacts and more relationships to a point where I was able to move to a larger agency. At this agency, I started to connect dots for the talent I knew and the brands that I worked with. It always seemed to be a large disconnect between brands and talent. My goal was to bridge that gap. Once I felt like my relationships were solid enough on both ends, I decided it was time to pursue my ultimate goal of managing talent and athletes full time. I started BAA Management more than three years ago.

Best part of the job? What about the most challenging? Best part? I would say seeing the success of your clients. If they’re successful it’s a guarantee you’ll be successful! Most challenging? I would say the lack of rest! Most nights I sleep about 4-5 hours!

What do you look for in clients? Great question. My goal, when I decided to start my management company, was to work with clients that I genuinely liked. As a manager, you’re involved in your client’s day to day life, which lots of times included their personal life. So beyond them being hard working and marketable, I would say that we genuinely have to like each other!

How have you grown your business over the years? I learned a very simple rule a long time ago. If I wanted to grow my business, I would have to take every client I have and grow their brand. Having to find new clients every month or year would be nearly impossible. So once I started a relationship with someone I would have to make an impact in their life, day in day out! How do you foster your talent? Every person has their strengths and weaknesses! Similar to any athlete or entertainer. My job is to play to their strengths. Find out what they’re great at and what their passions are and pursue it! What’s it like representing Kevin Hart? Working with Kevin on his marketing over the years has been a blessing! Kevin is one of those guys that you want to work your ass off for. He’s genuinely one of the great guys in the industry and all of his success was earned. When all is said and done, he’ll go down as one of the best to ever do it. So to say I had the opportunity to be a small part of it is amazing!

hen we got the call from Toyota that they were partnering with popular Mexican singer Julión Álvarez on his first U.S. Tour and they wanted to customize a 2016 Toyota Tundra for him, we were more than up to the challenge – despite only having 48 hours to get it all ready! We turned to one of our long time build partners, Ramses Sanchez, of Hot Spot Fab as we knew he would be able to perform the work within the limited time. “Generally, I ask for a full business day just to install the lift,” he describes. “Once I received the truck, the parts started to slowly trickle in. The final day also had to fit in the presentation at DUB and filming with Myles Kovacs.” With basic instructions on what Álvarez wanted on his truck, it was up to Sanchez to come up with the best modifications that would complement the design of the Tundra, mentioning that the winch wasn’t part of the original build specs. “But it was a perfect fit for the front bumper,” he says. “I also measured the front bumper and decided to install an LED bar just to add more lighting to the front end and catch the attention of fans when on display” GEAR: TOYOTA TUNDRA

Sanchez worked tirelessly for 48 hours to make sure he didn’t miss an important deadline. He finished up in the DUB Garage on filming day with a lifted and totally customized Tundra, while still wearing the same clothes from 2 days prior. It was all worth it because Álvarez was beyond excited when he first saw his new Tundra before his concert in Houston, TX. “You could just feel the energy from a happy truck owner when it’s authentic,” he describes. “I can tell you from more than 18 years of truck building experience that the truck surpassed his expectations. Everything he asked for was delivered with some extra DUB flavor poured on top. The trademark smile of his was from ear to ear when the blindfold was removed.” “Our partnership with DUB developed into a win-win solution to our goal of customizing the Toyota Tundra to perfectly complement Julion’s style,” commented Tyler McBride, Toyota’s engagement marketing manager. “Their work on the Tundra creates a dynamic experience for our fans wherever the Tundra has been part of our activation. Fans have really found it to be cool and emblematic of Julión Álvarez’ music.”

Although all of the parts were meticulously chosen, for Sanchez, the most important part to any vehicle is the choice of wheels and tires. “That is truly what completes all builds and is always the most critiqued.” For this build, the Tundra received a perfect pairing of TIS wheels and Nitto Trail Grappler tires, with all the accessories together making it an awesome truck of superstar status!

So when the opportunity arose for his charity to be involved with Velocity’s new “The Lifted Life” TV show, Miller and his go-to shop, Five R Trucks, jumped at the chance to be featured. To start the build, the Ford Raptor was donated by Magnum Truck Gear, an Innovative Creations Inc. company and a brand partner of “The Lifted Life.” “We were talking about needing to get a truck donated and they said that they had a promotional truck they were about to retire that they’d love to donate to us,” explains Joel Spicola, Executive Producer for show. “We’re always looking to give back,” adds Nick Marshall, Brand Marketing Manager/ Website Manager for Innovative Creations Inc. and Magnum Truck Gear. “When talking with Five R Trucks on a few ideas they had mentioned a charity build with Von Miller’s Charity Von’s Vision. The catch was they needed a truck and wanted a Ford. I knew we were getting ready to decommission our 2013 Ford Raptor from our marketing fleet and thought this might be a good fit. I made sure it was a vehicle they would be interested in using and went to see if we could donate it. Bob Wolf, the owner of Magnum Truck Gear/Innovative Creations Inc., did not hesitate in offering the Raptor.” “I really wanted a truck that was true to me and my Texas roots - tactical but sleek,” Miller says. “It felt great that so many people came together on this project to help my foundation.” Once the Raptor was secured, it was now time to turn it into a charity-worthy rig that would help the foundation’s mission. According to Spicola, the vision for the truck was to display Miller’s signature and jersey number throughout the vehicle, an idea that was given by Nick Chin at American Force Wheels. “He went on to say that he’d be able to do this on a one-of-a-kind, custom-made American Force wheels for the

IT FELT GREAT THAT SO MANY PEOPLE CAME TOGETHER ON THIS PROJECT TO HELP MY FOUNDATION.” truck,” he says. “So we took Nick’s idea and ran with it and asked our other partners who had donated parts for this build, that could potentially be customized, if they would do the same thing.” Those custom American Force wheels feature Miller’s signature and jersey number engraved into the spoke, while R1 Concepts provided a custom brake rotor with his number 58 as well. Magnum Truck Gear provided a custom grille and bumpers, with the grille including his signature, jersey number and the letters “V” and “M” cut out in the center that lights up.

Although the build didn’t encounter any challenges (despite the fact that Five R only had five days to build it), trying to work and film Miller at the beginning of the 2016 NFL season proved to be a challenge. But Spicola and his production team managed to make it work and when the big reveal was done on film, Miller absolutely loved it. “He’s a huge truck enthusiast already and owns a Raptor, he loved it so much he said he might just buy it himself,” he mentions. “The truck came out even better than we could have imagined. All of the builds that we do on “The Lifted Life” TV show are off the charts, and this build was no different.”

Now the truck is being used as a charity rig, eventually going up for auction in early 2017, with the net proceeds of the sale going to Von’s Vision Foundation. “We are extremely grateful for the outcome,” Marshall adds. “A lot of great companies have jumped on board and the time put in by Five R and “The Lifted Life.” The truck is truly one-of-a-kind with Von’s mark on it. We are hoping when the custom Raptor hits the auction block it will deliver great help to Von’s charity, which is helping the more than 27,000 low-income students in the Denver Public School System who need some level of vision correction.” “These guys killed it!” Miller adds. “The truck turned out perfect. It was cool to see how they incorporated my signature and number into the design.”
