Hank Robinson of Hanro Productions found his calling as a metal fabricator after serving more than a decade in the United States Army and has been putting his newfound skills to work on numerous custom rigs for both his personal and trucks associated with the Warrior Built Foundation, including his eye-catching Ford F-150! The Fallen Hero Jeep Project takes an ordinary JK and turns it into a tribute vehicle for LeAnn Chapman’s late husband, who she lost in Iraq. The project was a collaboration between Starwood Motors and Keg Media, further demonstrating Robbie’s commitment to those in the military.

FLASHBACK We’ve dedicated the pages of this issue to feature some of the hottest trucks and Jeeps that not only make a statement, but are tied someway to those serving in our military. But that doesn’t mean we forgot about past builds that do the same, which is why we’ve compiled this special Flashback! A.R.E. / LEVEL 7 2011 TOYOTA TUNDRA If the apocalypse ever happened or flesh-eating zombies preying on helpless survivors became a reality, then the Level 7 Toyota Tundra (first featured in DUB Magazine) is the vehicle you’d want to have at your disposal. Built by JR Posadas, the rugged off-road beast is made to sustain and tackle any environment and overcome practically any obstacle in its way. Posadas used his military background as a starting point when designing the Tundra and wanted to create something that had never been done before, while still building a functional vehicle. It was one of the original trucks we featured that inspired us to launch LFTD& LVLD.

We take a look back at some of our favorite trucks and Jeeps.

LEVEL 7 TACOMA Under the guidance of JR Posadas, Chris Pate was able to build his own Level 7 Tacoma that was meant to be a reflection of his personality and his time in the military as a member of the Marine Corps Infantry given he started the build while still in active duty. According to Pate, he “wanted it to have a tactical and aggressive look as well as be able to clean up sexy for the shows.” Keep a look out for his latest creation...it’s a Juggernaut of a build.

CHRIS KYLE LEGEND JEEPS Chris Kyle’s memory lives strong with two Jeeps that Complete Customs built for the late Navy Seal by his wife. The Jeeps – The Legend and Frog Jeep – were built to bring awareness to the foundation and keep Chris’ spirit alive.

PROJECT JARHEAD FORD DUALLY We often forget that the price of freedom for Americans was paid by the service of so many military men and women who voluntarily fought to defend our country. Damon Flippo of Flippobilt Customs out of Glendale, AZ (as well as former Rigid Industriesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; marketing/race coordinator) wanted to remind those he encountered out in the open road while paying tribute to those serving in the United States Marine Corps. He came up with a specially themed 2011 Ford F-350 Dually that represented his love, respect and honor for his father, grandfather, uncles, friends, himself and all those who have served this country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

JEEP JK RAWDAWG Staff Sergeant Richard White has been in the Army for countless years and has served three tours of duty during his enlistment. Since being around off-road vehicles while in the service, he’s always had an appreciation for such machinery that could traverse deserts and more. It’s these types of vehicles that he spends months training in and some have even protected him in hostile territory, which is why he knew building a Jeep would help him with his Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

he first line of defense in any operation is critical to its success. That initial strike can deliver the debilitating blow or create an impenetrable boundary to all that dare to oppose. Whether in legit combat situations or simply tackling tough terrain, off-road vehicles are only as formidable as their armor. In particular, a vehicle’s bumpers can make or break a rig’s ability to maintain its structure, ultimately protecting those in the cab. Originating in Dallas, Texas, in 1999, Road Armor began as a company dedicated to constructing the industry’s best pound-for-pound bumpers. In 2007, the company pivoted their

branding efforts and focused on highlighting their unrivaled quality and American pride. To further showcase their production prowess, Road Armor built a pair of purpose-built vehicles complete with military specs, incorporating equipment that would stand up to any mission. Road Armor’s most recent build is the Operator F-150, built in collaboration with the Green Beret Foundation and actual operators with legit field experience. In the planning phase of the build, the Road Armor team gave the brave soldiers full creative control of the build as they strived for authenticity. “We allowed them to be realistic,” explains Road Armor’s

Creative Director, Andon Sawyer. “We wanted their input on what a vehicle would need for a realistic mission. What type of capabilities would it have?” The F-150 was fortified with Road Armor Stealth front and rear winch bumpers and a custom roof-mounted assault rack built inhouse by Road Armor. The one-off rack provides effective mounting solutions for the tools and accessories a true operator would require while deployed. The recovery accessories are attached via Road Armor’s Otis clamps, a sheet metal-style clamp that attaches to the tube. Starwood Motors assisted the build significantly, completely wiring

the vehicle and installing most of the equipment. Starwood also coated the Ford in Kevlar to further protect the rig from the harsh elements. It’s worth noting that the bumpers, although stout, are not as heavy as you would imagine and that’s due to the unique manufacturing process. “We take a lot of time to process and adjust the bumper so it’s assembled with the fewest pieces possible,” Sawyer explains. “Some of our competitors are welding together 30 different pieces to make a bumper, and ours is more like six with more complex geometry.”

Needless to say, adding such a considerable amount of equipment certainly adds weight, but this was equalized by virtue of a Whipple Twin Screw supercharger breathing through a MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust. With 500 horses under the hood, the F-150 certainly has the

capability to deliver its occupants to safety. The result of the Green Beret Foundation’s collaboration with Road Armor on this F-150 is a combat-ready vehicle that is equipped for battle and also pays homage to those brave men and women, who fight for Americans everywhere.

Another of Road Armor’s duty-focused utility vehicles is a Jeep that’s also inspired by the Green Berets. But this Wrangler Rubicon was built with a different purpose than the F-150. “This vehicle was inspired by the spirit of the Green Berets and what they said would be the ultimate Jeep for a light duty tactical mission,” Sawyer mentions. “This Jeep was built to get in between narrow spaces, over obstacles and up mountains to get to a lookout point.” This rugged Wrangler was fortified with a host of Road Armor products, including their signature rocker panel armor that actually bolts to the pinch seam as opposed to relying on holes drilled in sheet metal. This means that the addition of the armor literally adds a tactical advantage with enhanced overall strength to the body of the vehicle. In addition, Road Armor fenders and bumpers were incorporated in the build, and the exterior was finished in a Kevlar hue inspired by the Green Beret’s signature green tone. 60

To provide the ultimate tactical advantage, a 6.4-liter Hemi engine was swapped into the Rubicon, providing it the ability to maneuver in and out of sticky situations in a hurry. Raceline 17â&#x20AC;? beadlock wheels wrapped in Maxxis 40â&#x20AC;? tires fit nicely under the Rubicon thanks to a TERAFLEX long arm suspension system with FOX Racing 2.0 coilovers. This setup also allows the Jeep to traverse terrain most vehicles would struggle with considerably. Of course, the Rubicon is equipped with all the necessary recovery gear to escape even the most dire of situations, including a WARN Zeon 10,000-lb winch. To keep the team on-course, a Lowrance HDS-7m GPS and Cobra CB radio were incorporate, too. With an initial objective to create vehicles that accurately represent the requirements of real life combat situations, Road Armor has certainly succeeded in their mission. In collaboration with the Green Beret Foundation and help from Starwood Motors, Road Armor has created a dynamic duo of tactical rigs that would be worthy of any operation.

n today’s political climate, symbolic tributes to law enforcement are few and far between. The folks at Skyjacker Suspension set out to shift that sentiment by building a vehicle that displays true appreciation and support to our everyday heroes in blue. The build began as a design concept in Skyjacker’s marketing department. The Skyjacker family has close ties with law enforcement, so the build made perfect sense. “We wanted a fully capable vehicle that reflected law enforcement and was a tribute to what they do,” says Lee McGuire, Director of Marketing at Skyjacker. As the idea snowballed, Ford Motor Company and even Matchbox, got on board, which surely bolstered the momentum. The Skyjacker team wanted to ensure that the truck was authentic, so they involved actual police officers in the build. Guidance from the West Monroe Police Department and Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office ensured the additions were credible and insight from companies like Whelen, Glock and 5.11 Tactical proved it was legit. The Ford F-350 Super Duty was chosen as the base vehicle because at the time, it was a fresh platform to showcase their applicable products.

The Super Duty was the beneficiary of a plethora of premium products and it was all constructed in-house by Skyjacker. To beef up the body, a host of Fab Fours products were incorporated, including a front winch bumper, rear bumper and roof rack. Bushwacker pocket-style fender flares give the truck a more pronounced stature on all four corners and the bed is topped with an ARE camper shell. Inside, the bed is a TruckVault two-drawer storage management system housing numerous Glock firearms and 5.11 Tactical accessories. Inside the cab, the seats are wrapped in Katzkin leather and a LUND police console sits front and center with a LUND gun rack close by.

The unmistakable upgrade on this tribute rig is the sophisticated suspension system from Skyjacker. The 8.5” lift kit features their new variable rate coil spring design, LeDuc Series coilovers in front and BlackMAX shocks out back. The lift also incorporates heavy-duty DOM tubular adjustable upper and lower control arms. “This four-link design enables us to keep the factory alignment specs throughout the suspension cycle,” McGuire says. Under those massive fenders is a set of 20” American Force FacePlate wheels wrapped in 40” Nitto Trail Grappler tires.

A police-themed vinyl wrap was also added that injects a bit more attitude into the build. To top it off, an abundance of Rigid and Whelen lighting products are prominently featured. “It lights up like a Christmas tree,” McGuire proclaims. “And the sPOD unit we installed also gives us the flexibility to run them in different flashing patterns – the kids really love that.” In addition to the love and appreciation the vehicle has received from law enforcement, their families and vehicle lovers alike, the partnership with Matchbox is unquestionably exciting. The famous toy car maker has produced a model that accurately depicts the real-life truck. “Matchbox worked with us to refine the graphics on the build and did a mold from scratch of the new 2017 truck with the aftermarket accessories,” McGuire says. “We worked very closely with their designer to get such an accurate mold of the truck.” With thousands of the toys being produced, people across the world will be able to have their own Policethemed F-350, just on a slightly smaller scale.

METALLIC MEMORIAL Hank Robinson of Hanro Productions engraved a brand new F-150 and the result was the most unique vehicle tribute ever!

etal can be cold, rigid and unforgiving. However, in the hands of a skilled craftsman it can also be quite malleable and transformed dramatically. In that respect, the attraction of working with metal to a soldier makes a lot of sense. After tours in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan, including hundreds of live-action combat missions, Henry “Hank” Robinson found himself back stateside, bewildered as he adjusted to a civilian life given the past decade consisted of the United States Army and little else. Unfortunately, locating gainful employment became a cumbersome task. Thankfully, with the help from the GI Bill, Hank attended welding school and fell in love with metal, and more importantly, the manipulation of it. After working as a welder for some time, he stumbled upon his true passion when it was suggested that Hank attempt something different. “I was making a steel mini-surfboard for my son and the instructor told me to write my name on it with the Dremel [machine],” he says. “That’s when I began engraving.” A Dremel is a rotary power tool that can perform a multitude of household and hobby tasks with its vast array of available extensions - yet it’s a machine not usually synonymous with automotive customization. After the simple act of engraving his name on a piece of metal, a light bulb went off in Hank’s head as he was instantly attracted to this uncharted art form. This newfound infatuation for manipulating metal spawned a respectable side hustle at first, customizing Yeti tumblers, small home décor pieces and automotive parts.

After dabbling in truck hoods, motorcycle fenders and even bed covers, Hank decided to challenge himself with his biggest job to date an entire vehicle he would dub “Freedom Blues.” He yearned to create something that not only showcased his craft, but also highlighted both fallen soldiers and those still battling today. “I really just wanted to pay homage to my era of war fighters and honor the fallen everywhere I go,” Hank proclaims. The decision to virtually tattoo the body of a brand new truck wasn’t an easy one as it was equal parts expensive and permanent. The next step in the process was to completely break down the new Ford F-150 to be properly prepped for paint. FX Auto Body of Avondale, AZ, laid down an attractive House of Kolors hue: Stratton Blue with a matte clear over top. Hank began the project in the rear, starting his artwork on the tailgate. What’s important to note is that there are no stencils laid on the truck and no other machines were used to create the extravagant engravings; everything is done free hand by Hank. 98

Even though Hank had a rough idea of where certain images would be placed, the application was truly freestyle. The images depicted were a combination of representations of his experiences, personal photos and a few submitted via social media that echoed his vision. Like a tattoo, engraving the body of a new truck is a lifelong commitment, which was Hank’s intention. “My philosophy is that it’s pretty much the same as a tattoo; it’s on you forever, ” he explains. “I wanted to do the memorial so it could be forever - a permanent thing.” The permanency of the engraving is far more impressive than graphics printed on a wrap that can be easily discarded. This technique ensures the truck will always embody the initial intention regardless of who owns it. In total, the engraving process took just under 900 total hours, a feat Hank completed live at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas to the amazement of show attendees. 100

In addition to the artwork, Hank’s 2016 F-150 was also the recipient of some of the top equipment in the industry. The truck, which Hank has dubbed the “H150,” received an altitude adjustment via a McGaughy’s 6.5” lift kit, while perched under the fenders is a set of 22x14 American Force wheels wrapped in 35” Nitto Trail Grappler tires. Fab Fours Vengeance Series front and rear bumpers keep the truck protected while a Fab Fours roof rack provides additional storage and lighting options above. Inside, the truck is about as ’Merica as it can get with a custom American Flag headliner and airbrushed American Flag graphics in the door jams. On top of the pure skill and ingenuity, there’s also an entrepreneurial aspect to Hank’s path that is certainly commendable. He took his passion and turned it into a career, creating himself a cozy niche that will no doubt be fruitful. Today, in addition to being the owner and operator of Hanro Studios, Hank is also an official Dremel Maker and brand ambassador for the Dremel brand, traveling the world displaying his talents. As for what the future holds, it’s safe to say more completely customized trucks are in Hank’s future!

s an avid motorcycle and off-road enthusiast, Marine Corps First Sergeant Nick Hamm wanted to start something that would involve his motorsports passion with helping fellow combat veterans and wounded warriors, so he came up with the Warrior Built Foundation. For him, automotive customization was a form of therapy that helped him transition back into civilian life after the military, and he wanted to share this with others like him. “I saw the positive things that came out of that project and the brotherhood it developed,” he details. “I had my own demons I was working thru...but I didn’t see any organization out there that was right for me or offered the type of recreational activities I was in either.” The Warrior Built Foundation seeks to honor the service and sacrifice of combat veterans and wounded service members who served our country so bravely by providing them with recreational and vocational opportunities – a mission that Hank of Hanro Studios Engraving felt aligned with his own motivations to help fellow servicemen and women. 112

According to Hamm, he and Hank connected through social media after he saw the amazing engraving work Hank did. After asking Hank to do some work on a few of the Foundation’s projects, they immediately clicked given both are combat veterans. “I invited Hank to the Baja 500 to be on our chase crew and experience that adventure with other combat veteran,” Nick says. For Hank, it was a true brotherhood right from the start. “It was a foundation that wasn’t just about getting money, but helping combat veterans in any way possible,” he says. Since his involvement with the foundation, Hank has seen it grow over the years, helping more and more veterans than he could ever imagine. Not only does it help provide therapeutic avenues, but it also creates a support system these veterans so desperately need to feel as if they are living a normal life after being in the military for so many years. The Foundation has organized various BBQs, shows and outings for its veterans, allowing them to feel the same sort of camaraderie they felt while in service. “[The Foundation] is about getting combat veterans together and having a good time and supporting each other,” Hank admits. “The way the Warrior Built Foundation has helped me is really the camaraderie of getting together with combat veterans and being able to talk about anything and knowing they will never see me as less of a person. It’s a special bond that can’t be broken.”

The Warrior Built Foundation has truly changed the lives of combat veterans and Hank plans to be involved in any way he can for the foreseeable future. “We have been through alot together and continue to have each other’s back. I look forward to the future and hope I can help out in more ways to get more combat Veterans involved with the foundation. And the Foundation helps veterans pursue their own desires to enter and compete in different types of action sports and races like the Baja 1000 thanks to having Monster Energy as a partner. “We also offer things like music therapy, welding and photography classes,” Nick explains.” We even have a small gym in our facility and a lounge upstairs for weekly PTSD counseling groups. It’s basically a club house for combat veterans to get involved in so many different forms of therapy and for them to meet fellow veterans who are like minded.”

The memoir that preceded it, “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History,” sold more than a million copies and was on the The New York Times “Best Seller” list for 40 weeks.

Needless to say, Kyle’s bravery and patriotism pulled on the heartstrings of many. Although he passed in 2013, Kyle’s name still lives on through his foundation. In the wake of tragedy, The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation was formed to preserve this American hero’s legacy and bolster the families of military personnel and first responders. In 2015, The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation partnered with Complete Customs of McKinney, Texas to build tribute vehicles – two Wranglers (which were on the cover of Issue 9) and one Yukon – to increase awareness for the foundation’s cause. The GMC was eventually raffled to support the foundation and the Jeeps are displayed at different events across the United States.

The chief designer for the builds was Robbie Bryant of Keg Media. For 2016, Keg Media and Complete Customs partnered up again for a build that would take the customization and creativity to another level. Known for his outstanding automotive renderings, Bryant set out to create a tribute vehicle unlike any other. “I had this vision in my head,” Bryant explains. “I wanted to build a Jeep to look like something you’d see on top of a mountain in fresh snow.” The next step was to transform Bryant’s vision into a reality and Complete Customs was up for the assignment.

The Arctic Frog began as a stock 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, but little of the factory components still remain. The Rubicon was completely transformed into a one-of-a-kind, off-road rig. The list of upgrades is virtually endless beginning with the exaggerated exterior. For starters, the Jeep features Fab Fours body armor, including the sinister, one-piece GRUMPER grille and bumper combo. The Fab Fours ViCowl was also incorporated providing windshield protection, additional lighting options and shot of serious attitude. Aggressive Fab Fours fenders were added and the Jeep was completely covered in Kryptek Yeti Camoliner. And as impressive as the body modifications are, it’s what’s underneath that makes this Rubicon so special. The Jeep was treated to a full Icon Vehicle Dynamics coilover suspension and tramples terrain via 150M1-A1-SA Mattracks. This track system features 16” tread width, independent offset rocker arm internal suspension and boasts a ground contact surface area of up to 26 square feet. Ultimately, the Mattracks provide the Arctic Frog with the ability to scale obstacles that tires would simply never stand a chance against. To aid in propelling this massive monstrosity, a Sprintex twin screw supercharger was added providing over 50% more horsepower and almost 30% more torque than stock. Upon completion, the Arctic Frog made its debut at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas and was unveiled to Chris’s wife, Taya Kyle, in the KEG Media booth. Since its debut at SEMA, the Arctic Frog has traveled the country increasing awareness for the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation and keeping Chris Kyle’s spirit alive and well.

veryday, while we go on about our lives, there’s a man or woman in uniform serving our country and protecting our freedom somewhere in the world. But this fact gets overlooked on a daily basis, which is why we need to show our appreciation to those who sacrifice their lives for our freedom day in and day out not just on specific holidays throughout the year. We are truly blessed to have these brave men and women fighting for our country, so it’s equally rewarding when we hear of one of them getting blessed tenfold. Take for instance Justin Jarvis, the winner of KEG Media’s 2015 SEMA “Dream Truck Build” giveaway. The 26-year-old E-5 Army Sergeant is stationed at Ft. Hood, TX, (currently doing a tour in Kuwait) and is an avid truck enthusiast. When he’s not on base or performing his various military duties, Jarvis is doing something to his truck. “My hobbies include working on my truck, cleaning it and going to all kinds of shows and fundraisers to meet other truck guys,” he mentions. “I love off-roading and can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in customized vehicles, because honestly, who likes stock?”

Although we are the blessed ones for having Jarvis fight for our nation, it was Jarvis who ended up being blessed from the customization gods, winning one of the most coveted prizes in the industry. The “Dream Truck Build” not only covered all parts and labor, but also flew him to Las Vegas for SEMA and gave him free swag – which is why he’s nicknamed his 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Lonestar Edition #Blessed. After a random selection of entries, Keg Media chose the 7-year active military service member based on his passion for trucks and the industry, his service, and philanthropic work for other veterans. “We did a random selection of 25 people before I chose the winner,” owner of Keg Media Robbie Bryant admits. “Then I personally called each one to learn more about them. Justin’s story was a great one; he was just a nice, genuine guy. He wanted to build his truck to take to events and promote issues that are important for veterans. It was great working with him and I can honestly say I’ve made a lifelong friend!” In fact, just a year before, Jarvis ended up in a bad accident that nearly took his life and wrecked his prized 2011 Ford F-150, which he spent 30K of his hard earned money to fix up. After buying the Ram with the insurance money, he was complacent with it being stock. But all that would chance thanks to Keg Media.

“I thought I would never own something that fancy again,” he says. “I couldn’t believe how lucky I was when Robbie called me the first time to tell me I had made the cut of the top 25 candidates. I was honestly amazed that I won the giveaway!” Thanks to the support from the industry, Robbie was able to secure a laundry list of some the biggest and best brands, making sure the winner of the contest would have a top-notch build. While Keg Media would provide the rendering of the vehicle, Complete Customs would turn it into a reality using parts and accessories from the likes of American Force Wheels, Toyo Tires, Bulletproof Suspension, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Fusion Bumpers, plainANsimple, Gibson Exhaust, Roadwire leather, Rack Works and Kicker – just to name a few. Even though the sponsors were already lined up, Robbie wanted to make this truck a reflection of Jarvis and collaborated with him on the design. “I told him that I wanted a nice, rich royal bluelooking color incorporated and I was sent a bunch of new American Force wheel designs to choose from, which was a hard decision; there were just so many! Then Eric from ECD Customs called me to get some info on the exterior design, but I gave him free reign on the wrap and love what he came up with.” According to Robbie, it’s the wrap that really gets the truck attention thanks to its American Flag-inspired graphics that screams with pride for the nation Jarvis fights for.

Once the Dodge was shipped to Complete Customs for the two-month makeover, Jarvis was anxious to see the end result, which he says was even better than the initial call from Robbie announcing his contest victory. “Walking over to Central Hall at SEMA had to be the most anxious feeling I’ve ever felt,” he details. “I was in complete shock of how it all turned out! It was better than expected and more than I could ever dream of. It was truly an amazing moment for me.” Since then, Jarvis has amassed quite a social media following of admirers of the build and of his own commitment to our nation and veterans. He’s been to several shows, where he’s taken home many awards, in addition to getting to know amazing people in the industry all because of a social media contest he was at first hesitant to enter. “I feel I owe Robbie so much and I’ll never be able to repay him for the gift he’s given me. He has truly made two of my goals become a reality – building a SEMA vehicle and having it published in print.”

2015 JEEP WRANGLER JK “FALLEN HERO JEEP PROJECT”

eAnn Chapman is the proud Gold Star Wife of SPC Stephen Downing II, who so courageously fought for our nation before he was killed in Iraq in October 2004. Losing her husband and the father of her two children was the ultimate sacrifice. Life would never be the same for the Downing family, but time has healed deep wounds while her heart will forever hold the memory of her late husband. As life went on, LeAnn and her family were able to purchase their dream rig – a Jeep Wrangler – that they envisioned big things for, but due to financial restraints, would never actually get to build. Little did she know that her son’s interest in off-road vehicles - especially Starwood Motors’ creations on social media - would lead to a oncein-a-lifetime opportunity for the family. “He was in love with the Kevlar-painted Jeeps,” she describes. “He would tell me how they’re scratch and dent proof and one day I just decided to send a quick Facebook message to Starwood Motors out of curiosity of what the Kevlar paint was.” After casual chats back and forth with Jordan Hail, head of business development for Starwood Motors, LeAnn explained that although they’d love to feature it on their new Jeep they plan on using for military homecomings, parades and the like, they’d never be able to actually afford their Kevlar paint. Instead, they’d most likely opt for a wrap that would feature the Folds of Honor organization (in addition to Gold Star Teen Adventures) they supported, which

provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled servicemembers. That’s when Jordan directed her to Robbie Bryant of Keg Media and the “Fallen Hero Jeep Project” was born. “Within a couple of days, [Robbie] presented an idea that would blow my mind and heart,” she explains. “He had rounded up enough people to sponsor the facelift on the Jeep and send it to SEMA. In less than two weeks my baby was on a trailer and headed to Dallas!” 149

According to LeAnn, Robbie’s rendering perfectly honored her late husband while at the same time paid tribute to all those who have lost their lives serving our country. It only took one draft for LeAnn to fall in love with everything he created. Since the family’s fascination with the Kevlar exterior started it all, Starwood Motors offered to sponsor the matte Army green exterior. “The Jeep is coated in their signature Military Green finish complete with gloss black graphics,” Robbie explains. “The entire process was done at Starwood Motors, starting with removing the factory paint down to bare metal. Once that part is complete, the vehicle is prepped, primed and sprayed with the finish, focusing on consistent texture throughout each panel. After the main coating has cured, the vehicle is prepped once again for the custom graphics you see on the final product.”

To get the Jeep looking on point, Aries Automotive collaborated with a host of their armor/protection and lighting products to the JK’s edgy exterior. In fact, they designed and built a whole line of new products specifically for this build that were hand delivered to Starwood Motors as they came off the production line, LeAnn admits. To set off its stance, a 6” Skyjacker coilover lift kit gives it clearance to fit 38” tall Interco Sniper LTs that were fitted to a set of GRID OffRoad GF0 2-piece forged wheels. Thanks to Robbie and Jordan taking care of everything from start to finish, LeAnn and her family were gifted with a show-stopping Jeep that amazes people on the daily. “She is a beauty and there is nothing like her anywhere here in Indiana,” she gushes. “We are in love with everything about the Jeep; it was more than we deserve and more than we could have ever dreamed up on our own.” Now the family uses the Wrangler to bring awareness for the Folds of Honor foundation and wheels it proudly to honor their own fallen hero.

WINDOW TINT HAS EVOLVED SO WHY SETTLE?

t’s a fair assumption to think that most of you reading this are very particular about your vehicle. Whether it’s your performance mods, the wheels you chose or the sound system you had installed, every part was probably selected to be part of the overall picture you had in your mind from the start. Once your vehicle is looking, and sounding, exactly how you want it, why would you consider treating window tint as an afterthought settling with whatever the local shop carried? Still not convinced? Here are three things to consider before you get your vehicle tinted. Do you only want the look or do you want performance too? Just like the varying degrees of quality of the other parts on your vehicle, there are numerous levels of window tint quality and performance. You need to determine if you only want the look of tinted windows or if you actually would like some noticeable heat and UV rejection as well. An inexpensive film might make your windows look the way you want (temporarily), but reject

nearly no heat. The top quality nano-ceramic films available, like DUB IR, give you both the desired look and significant heat and UV rejecting performance. Even if you’re only concerned with darker windows, DUB IR will never turn brown or purple over time like many low quality films. How experienced is the installer? Many of the modifications done to a vehicle can be done by individuals with a range of skill levels without the risk of something terrible happening. However, window tint is different. An experienced installer can make all the difference between you have a great looking tint job that you can be proud of or an eyesore not worthy of your ride. A good installer can make an even average window tint look great based on the quality of their installation. Likewise, an inexperienced installer can take the best window film available and get a substandard result based on flaws in the installation. To have a tint job that will last and that you can be proud of, you would want a great installer using a high quality film.

Who is standing behind the product and installation? Just like any other mods for your vehicle there can be situations where a window tint will fail and need to be replaced. The company standing behind the film that was installed and the shop that did the installation are crucial. A quality window tint job should come with a warranty card from the manufacturer that spells out the terms of the warranty and the process to get something corrected if there is ever an issue. If a shop does not tell you what brand of window tint is being installed or provide you with a warranty card, that should be a red flag to look elsewhere for your installation. We hope that these three basic questions help you to make a more informed decision the next time you get your vehicle tinted. Don’t look at tint as an afterthought. he Showoff Custom Truck & Car Show jumped off June 1st to the 3rd in the spacious Brazoria County Fairgrounds in Angleton, TX (one hour from Houston). Now in its second year, the show was started by Kyle “Pickle” Garza and hosted by Texas Garage, featured more than 250 custom trucks and brought in more than 800 spectators. The show’s soundtrack was provided by DJ Paul all weekend, while fun games and contests - like the milk chug, tire toss and truck limbo - provided some extra fun! he Scrapin the Coast car and truck show went down on the weekend of June 23-25 at The Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in the beautiful city of Biloxi, right next to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. As the South’s largest car, truck and bike show, this year’s event was one of the most anticipated in the area. What started off as a small show in 2002, has grown into one of the industry’s top events to be at if you love all things automotive! More than 20,000 custom car fanatics enjoyed the weekend’s festivities despite a tropical storm.
