AMLACTIN Designing magic. AmLactin was formulated to be as close to a prescription cream and lotion as it could be, and still be purchased without doctors’ orders. It’s for people with very dry skin, looking to ease the pain on the quest for softer, more beautiful skin. The opportunity was to communicate the rational benefits of serious relief and the emotional appeal of “magic in a bottle,” which is what loyal users believe. The design challenge was to present packaging between pharmaceutical bland and beauty goddess extremism. The solution found inspiration in the idea of apothecary chic, appealing to symbolism and intuition to communicate efficacy with an emotional appeal.
