Sancton Wood

Last term, Sancton Wood welcomed guest speakers from across a wide and varied range of professions to attend their first ever Careers Convention at the Senior School. Drawing on the school’s network they were able to offer talks on 19 different career options from Artificial Intelligence to Medicine, Finance to Filmmaking. InvestIN and Magoo Giles from Knightsbridge School also gave keynote speeches.

Not only did the experts give context to how students’ learning is applied practically in industry, but they were a huge source of inspiration for them when considering their own career paths. The students were highly engaged and asked brilliant questions.

It was an incredible day and another step towards ensuring that their students are fully equipped and ready to take on the next steps in their bright futures.

The school began by participating in the Hour of Code, the world’s biggest coding event, and then continued working on programming skills during some weeks after the event. This was followed by the European Cyber-security Month, where we explored topics of cyber-security, digital citizenship and “netiquete” through a variety of activities. Tinkercad came next, an online 3D design platform, where we learnt how to create and manipulate 3D objects, as well as export them and prepare them for 3D printing. The students love learning about cutting edge technology.
