Babies & Preschoolers

Events for the littlest library-goers focus on building a solid reading foundation with songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and learning activities. Baby & Toddler Storytime, Weekly 20 minutes of simple stories and fingerplays for infants to 3-year-olds, with a grown-up. Meet in the Youth Services area. Every Wednesday 10:15a Preschool Storytime, Weekly 30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays for 3-to-5year-olds. Grown-ups may attend or may treat this as a first independent activity for their preschoolers. Meet in the Youth Services area. Every Wednesday 11:15a Special Halloween Storytimes with Costume Parades Join us for Halloween-themed storytimes; both will be followed by a costume Trick-or-Treat parade through the library! Designed for school-aged kids and their grownups, these events range from arts and crafts to games, movies, learning, and interactive fun. Kids under 8 must be with an adult.

Arthur Zar’s Amazing Zebras Join us as we hunt for hidden letters in zebra stripes! Local author and illustrator, Amy Lucas-Peroceski, reads the story of Aurthur Zar’s Amazing Zebras, then create your own zebra drawings with help from the artists. September 22 10:30-11:30a Green Room

Crafts include watercolor painting, papermaking, shrinkydinks, and zentangle drawing! Recommended for kids in kindergarten to 5th grade. October 13 10:30a-12:00p Green Room Creation Craze! Drop in anytime and create at the library! We will have a variety of craft and art supplies for kids to use. A few sample crafts will be available for those that want a project to do or just let your creativity flow. For kindergarten to 5th grade. Come early to watch Zootopia at 10:15! November 10 1:00-1:45p Green Room 2:00-2:45p Green Room Learn to Code with Ozobots Ozobots are tiny robots that you can code using colored markers. Learn the basics of how they work and how to make them do what you want with this introductory course. We will be giving away an author signed copy of the graphic novel “Secret Coders” by Gene Luen Yang. For kids in grades 1-5 that are new to using Ozobots. November 17 11:00a Gold Room

Noon Year’s Eve Kids want to party like it’s 2019 too! Kids 2nd grade and younger are invited to celebrate the coming New Year at noon instead of midnight!
