Paint Partner

AMBROSE DESIGN & CONSTRUCT

Meet Dulux Paint and Acratex Coatings Partner – luxury home builders Ambrose Design & Construct.

Ambrose Design & Construct relies on premium Dulux Paint, Dulux Acratex Coatings and Exsulite Cladding to build new luxury homes and deliver high end renovations.

This family-owned business has built many dream homes for clients across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. These delighted homeowners spread the word through their networks, and news of Ambrose’s stellar reputation caused demand to soar in the last few years.

“We started working on two or three builds at a time, before it quickly jumped to 15 per year over a short space of time,” explains founder and Managing Director, Lee Ambrose. “We have since evolved and moved further into the luxury space, with most of our new builds in the $1.5 to $3 million price category. We’re laser focused on delivering quality builds and first-class customer experiences, so we’ve recently limited the number of projects to about eight per year.”

Award Winners

Winner of multiple Master Builder Awards in the New Home category, as well as several Training Awards, Ambrose has a tight-knit team united in their passion for quality workmanship and superior finishes.

That’s why Ambrose Design & Construct officially partnered with Dulux in February 2024, with full project support provided by Dulux Business Development Manager, Tina Shuart.

Premium – inside & out

“We wanted to ensure we were offering our clients a premium selection across their internal and external surfaces and exterior substrates,” Lee explains.

“When we’re establishing commercial partnerships, quality is the most important factor. Dulux are the leader in their field, so they were the best choice. As a bonus, aligning with their brand strengthens our own.”

Internal walls on all Ambrose Design & Construct homes are prepared and primed with one coat of Dulux Professional Acrylic Sealer Undercoat. Two coats of Dulux Wash&Wear® delivers premium washable finishes with exceptional stain resistance.

For the home’s exterior, the rendered façades are achieved with a 3-Step Dulux Acratex system, producing a highly durable finish with the application of Dulux Acratex AcraShield Advance as a topcoat. The finish has excellent UV resistance, is easy to maintain and is available in thousands of Dulux colours.

“Our clients meet with our Interior Designer to browse through Dulux colour samples and charts,” Lee explains. “As a custom builder of luxury homes, we find a way to capture our client’s vision and make it happen. If we have a non-standard coatings request, such as a textured finish, we will contact Tina to ask for her recommendations and advice. Dulux always has a product that will achieve the intended finish.”

Exsulite cladding & Dulux Acratex coating

Exsulite cladding system is also regularly selected for the external cladding. This fully integrated lightweight facade system creates a weatherproof, thermal efficient building envelope which is then coated in a Dulux

Acratex coating system that incorporates texture as well as Dulux colour in a protective finish that will look great for longer.

“I wasn’t aware that Dulux offered a cladding system, but I was keen to trial it. Exsulite is a high-quality product at a good price point, so we’ve now incorporated it on all our builds.”

The future looks bright for this up-and-coming Queensland builder, with Dulux bringing its industry-leading finishes to every Ambrose Design & Construct home.

“We’re super excited about this partnership with Dulux, because we’re leveraging our combined capabilities to deliver show-stopping homes.”

just got better. The best

Dulux Wash&Wear® handles life's messes, thanks to a superior washable finish that can be wiped clean again and again.

The ultimate choice for interior walls

Dulux Wash&Wear® has reinforced its position as the leading paint designed to help walls look freshly painted for longer. The new formula has improved washability, stain and scrub resistance, and is very low VOC <5g/L, making it the ultimate choice for interior walls

The technology we invented, reinvented

The latest 101 Barrier Technology® is an advanced formulation that forms a tightly interlocking paint film. It creates a hard wearing barrier that most stains can't penetrate. Only Wash&Wear® has 101 Barrier Technology, which allows you to wipe away most common marks, and stains with a wet cloth.

Redefining washable

Dulux Wash&Wear® Low Sheen is the pioneer of washable broadwall paint and shows superior stain resistance across a wider range of common stains.

Here's the proof

Low Sheen Features & Benefits:

 Hard wearing finish that lasts

 Superior washability & stain resistance

 Mould & mildew resistant technology

 Easy to keep clean

 101 Barrier Technology

 Very low VOC <5g/L

Washable & matt

Flatter and more washable than ever

Dulux Wash&Wear® Matt is now flatter and more washable than ever, meaning it keeps the walls looking freshly painted for longer.

Dulux Wash&Wear® Matt provides a stylish, matt finish without compromising on washability or durability. By minimising light reflection, the sophisticated matt finish provides a subtle sheen, hides surface imperfections and softens the effect of glare making it ideal for rooms with large windows or in hallways. It's made with the latest 101 Barrier Technology, so you can wipe away most common marks and stains with a wet cloth and your walls will look freshly painted for years

The smooth, hard-wearing film formed by new Dulux Wash&Wear® Matt prevents most marks from penetrating the surface. Most marks will easily wipe off with a wet cloth. Conventional matt paints have a rough and porous surface that allows marks to permanently stain the coating.

Superior mar resistance in dark colours

Dulux Wash&Wear® now has anti-marring technology in our Extra Bright base. This means even walls painted in dark colours show less marring, and keep looking fresher for longer.

Uplifting and soothing mid-tones and neutrals are

predicted to be a major interior

design trend in 2025.

The forecast for the upcoming year’s colour trends sees uplifting and soothing colours come to the fore within our homes and commercial spaces as a response to recent periods of uncertainty.

Distilled into three distinct palettes Still, Recollect and Emerge demonstrate how colours with warm, brown undertones play an important role in evoking a sense of nurture and positivity.

In 2025, Dulux predicts that rich burgundies and wine hues will become more prominent throughout residential interior design, alongside an increased use of green including olive, sage and yellow-greens.

Led by the Dulux Colour Team, comprising of Colour and Communications Manager Andrea Lucena-Orr, Colour Manager Lauren Treloar, Davina Harper, Senior Brand Manager Colour (NZ) and Colour Forecaster Stylist Bree Leech, the annual Dulux Colour Forecast is based on year-round research into the latest global and local trends that are predicted to influence Australian interior design and how we live.

“During times of instability, such as the current costof-living crisis and ongoing overseas conflicts, reduced consumer sentiment tends to see colour trends shift less dramatically. However, colour can be a powerful antedote to lift spirits and provide a sense of comfort and warmth, which is evident with this year’s colour palettes," Lucena-Orr explains.

“These shifts have informed the three Colour Forecast palette trends for 2025 in a way that’s relevant for Australian interiors.”

STILL

The Dulux Still palette has an instantly calming effect that can create a soothing and comforting environment. Encouraging a deeper connection with nature, the palette is likely to prove popular with home enthusiasts as it features warm neutrals combined with muted darker tones.Warm grey subtly emerges as an accent against yellow based neutrals and greens, blending with greyed off and serene cool blues.

EMERGE

An uplifting palette of soft and mid-tone hues, Dulux Emerge has a feel-good energy and is filled with soft greens, mauves and a deep red to bring joy without overwhelming a space.

“Dulux Emerge embodies individuality, inclusivity, collaboration and empathy, reflecting an expressive and eclectic style that celebrates connection,” Treloar explains.

Evoking a sense of cautious optimism, the Dulux Emerge palette is a balanced curation of warm muted hues including biscuit yellow, warm orange-based pinks, greyed off lilacs and a hint of brown and light grey blue.

Dulux Emerge works with soft rounded forms and expressive decor collections that ignite feelings of joy and optimism. Fabrics like boucle, velvet and suede set a cosy mood, while largescale terrazzo brings a bold and textured statement to floors and countertops.

RECOLLECT

Dulux Recollect is a moodier palette that evokes a sense of nostalgia, reflection and sophistication. Yellow-based greens and deep olive shades, including Dulux Zingiber and Dulux Olive Blend, are paired alongside rich wine shades ranging from grape to plum, such as Dulux Plum Sauce and Dulux Grapeshot, which feature as key colours for both walls and accessories.

Lucena-Orr adds that Dulux Plum Sauce is an emerging colour direction we’ll be seeing more of in 2025.

“It’s grounded yet adds a level of sophistication and a feeling of cosiness we’re searching for.”

As a response to the economic downturn, Dulux Recollect reflects an appreciation for classic design and a desire to seek out unique vintage pieces that tell their own story. Dark timbers, coloured glass, rich coloured fabrics like crushed velvet and chenille will compliment this colour palette and evoke a feeling of opulence.
