Good evening and a warm welcome to all supporters as well as all players and coaches of St Johnstone for tonight’s Park's Motor Group SWPL2 clash. It’s a really exciting night for the girls to be able to play on Tannadice. They have worked hard all season and this is a nice reward for them after all their hard work. We hope there is plenty of people who come along to support. St Johnstone are a very difficult side to play against and have caused problems, not just for ourselves, but picked up a lot of points since Grant came in. Both teams will try and play so it should be a good match to watch. Losing to Boroughmuir was disappointing for everyone but we can’t be too hard on them as it’s been an unbelievable season. We don’t get too high or carried away when we win so we certainly won’t be getting too down on ourselves after a defeat. Overall the season has been brilliant. Our goal was to win the league so to do this with so many games to spare is amazing. The girls deserve all the plaudits they get as it is them that has put the work in and done the job. To lift the trophy at Tannadice is exciting and for a few girls in the squad who are United fans will be a dream come true for them so it’s going to be an exciting night. Finally I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in some capacity whether it be a supporter from close or afar, the staff who do an amazing job and don’t get as much praise as they deserve, the sponsors who continually invest in the squad, and the players who have to juggle work with football. Without all these it would not be possible for a night like tonight. I hope you all enjoy the game and hang around for photos with the players and trophy after it.

Graeme

Good evening and welcome everyone to tonight’s Park’s Motor Group SWPL2 match against St Johnstone. On behalf of everyone at Dundee United Women’s Football Club we would like to welcome you to Tannadice Park to watch what will be a very exciting match. This is an incredible opportunity to be able to play at Tannadice against a tough St Johnstone side, it is always a competitive and lively match when we play each other and this will be our fourth encounter with them this season. To add to the experience, when the game has ended we will be presented with the Park’s Motor Group SWPL 2 trophy which we won on the 20th of March. We were on the bus through to Kilmarnock when we got the news that we had won the league before we had even played our game thanks to St Johnstone defeating Glasgow. It will be great to lift the trophy in front of our amazing supporters and also our way of saying thank you for your continued support throughout this season. For a few of the girls in the team this will be our second time playing at Tannadice which we are incredibly grateful for and for others this will be their first but each and every one of us are very excited about the occasion. We have had an incredible season as a team, unfortunately we had our first defeat in twentytwo league games against Boroughmuir Thistle. We were all gutted that we had broke our unbeaten run but we can’t let that ruin all our hard work throughout the season. As a team we have to move on from it and look forward to playing our last two games and finish the season on a high. Enjoy the game,

Megan

Sunday 13th March Regional Performance Centre, Dundee 1.00pm It was a fantastic start for United just five minutes in as Tammy Harkin’s cross found Danni McGinley; despite her shot hitting the crossbar Robyn Smith reacted first to head home her tenth goal of the season.

With the points all but wrapped up by half time, the second half turned into a drab affair as the visitors failed to create any opportunities while United kept possession well.

Four goals at a sunny Rugby Park ended a perfect day for everyone involved with Dundee United as the Scottish Women’s Premier League Two championship was confirmed.

The lead was doubled on the half hour mark and it was another Tammy Harkin special from the edge of the box that completed a fantastic team move.

Sunday 27th March New Tinto Park, Glasgow 12.00pm

An own goal, Robyn Smith and Rachel Todd made sure of the points at New Tinto Park against a disappointing Glasgow side. Despite the win, there was worry as Lauren Perry was forced off with an injury in the first half.

A minute later Jade McLaren headed wide before Smith also failed to find the target.

Midfielder Cassie Cowper stepped in and kept a clean sheet as she didn’t have any shots on target to face.

Three minutes into the half Tammy Harkin hit a 25 yard effort that hit the crossbar then the back of Andrews before finding the back of the net.

It was a very dire start to the game as both sides struggled to break each other down; the first chance coming in the 22nd minute as Cara Henderson headed wide for the hosts. Five minutes later United were unfortunate not to take the lead when Robyn Smith saw her effort pushed on to the post by Katie Andrews.

The second half bore the fruit United deserved as three goals in nine minutes saw United ahead.

It was only another three minutes before the lead was doubled; good work in the midfield resulting in McGinley playing Smith through to roll the ball under Andrews. The points were all but sealed in the 57th minute as Rachel Todd swept home a Smith ball after excellent work by United.

On the half hour mark they were dealt a massive blow when Lauren Perry went down injured and despite treatment, she was unable to continue. Back up Caroline Nachman was unavailable with midfielder Cassie Cowper having to take the gloves.

With twenty minutes to go, Foote could have added a fourth but her strike was weak and easily held by Andrews.

Despite the blow, United looked the most likely to go ahead. Danni McGinley created space for herself on the edge of the box but her shot was pushed onto the crossbar by Andrews.

Subs Georgie Robb and Steffi Simson saw themselves denied in injury time by Andrews but the points were secured, with Cassie Cowper keeping a clean sheet in her 55 minute spell as stand in keeper.

Despite having an outfield player in goal, United weren’t really threatened by the hosts as Taylor Davis fired well over.

Erin Ross opened the scoring early on with Danni McGinley double, Nyla Murphy’s first goal and Tammy Harkin’s second half hat trick seeing the side hit the 100+ mark for goals scored this season. Danni McGinley almost grabbed an early opener but saw her initial effort saved before firing the rebound over the bar. In the ninth minute Erin Ross went one better; Nyla Murphy’s cross wasn’t cleared and the midfielder was on hand to rifle home her second goal of the season.

was Harkin that grabbed it with a cross that flew into the back of the net. Two minutes later Harkin found the net again; rifling home her second to make it four without reply. Not even sixty seconds after this Nyla Murphy had grabbed her first United goal as she slotted McGinley’s pass into the bottom corner. Sub Georgie Robb almost got her first goal when she sent Rachel Todd’s cut back over the bar in the 71st minute. Todd was involved again three minutes later when she was brought down in the box; McGinley stepped up again to net her second penalty of the afternoon.

The side struggled to break down a Stirling side following this as the next opportunity came after the half hour mark when Rebecca McMillan was fouled inside the box. ’ This season has seen a number of players involved across our 28 games in Park’s Motor Group SWPL2, SWPL Cup and Scottish Women’s Cup competitions, leading to our success in the SWPL2. Clara Laing Appearances: 0 (2) Goals: 0 Clara is our second Academy graduate, having made her debut against Queen’s Park in September. Shee spent time on loan at Montrose, winning the Championship North.

Danni McGinley Appearances: 26 Goals: 27 Averaging more than a goal a game in all competitions, Danni is the league’s top goalscorer as well as having the most assists in the team.

Caroline Nachman Appearances: 2 Clean Sheets: 1 Caroline returned to the club for her second spell late last year and has been called into action recently with Lauren Perry’s injury.

Georgie Robb Appearances: 5 (12) Goals: 0 Georgie has steadily improved over the course of the season with a run of starts in the last few games showing her potential.

Steffi Simson Appearances: 7 (10) Goals: 2 Steffi can play both up front or on the wing and has netted twice this season against Stirling University and Hibernian in the SWPL Cup.
