Last year’s forecast for Monterey Auto-Madness Week was “more cars, more money, more buyers, more sellers, more car shows, more exhibits, and of course, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. More, more, more… But, this year, it’s different. The Pebble Beach Concours has always extended an invitation to a particular “marque” (or marques) that will be showcased in addition to various year-continent-feature classes. This year’s selection is “duPont”. This, indeed, is an extraordinary honor for this writer and one that will long be remembered by many members of my family and, hopefully, the collector car enthusiast family as well. Look for a dozen or so examples of the best offerings from the duPont Motorcar Company in our special marque class. There are only about 31-33 known examples left in the world today. They all feature stunning coachwork, late 20’s technical and mechanical breakthroughs, top-shelf engineering and fabulous motoring performance. I look forward to seeing you on the “green” on Sunday, August 16th. Look for my 1929 duPont LeMans 4-place Speedster! Of course, the Monterey Auto Week is about more than a single marque’s display on Sunday. To go to every event would be impossible. To go to most events would, at the very least, be exhausting. The prices are by no means inexpensive, but all are worth the “investment”. Contrary to the world of potato chips and spices, Pebble Beach and the related auctions, shows, receptions, etc. are packing MORE into the special week of Auto-madness. The government regulations in the consumer products world call the empty space in your latest purchase of chips, pepper, Slim Jims or Old Spice deodorant, “slack fill”. In the sensitive world of toilet tissue, it’s called “de-sheeting”. Conclusion: in the world of classic, luxury and exotic car show days, weekends, and weeks, you are getting MORE not less. Two McLaren 570S Prototypes at Dimmitt Automotive It's the first model in McLaren's highly anticipated Sport Series, and while it hasn't been released for sale just yet, Dimmitt Automotive Group in St. Petersburg, Florida is anticipating a waiting list at least a year long. There are currently two prototypes of this powerful daily driver on display at Dimmitt Automotive Group, one in Blade Silver and the other in Ventura Orange. The Blade Silver example was first introduced to the dealership April 18, during their monthly Cars & Coffee After Party, and the Orange arrived just this past weekend. The two are both stunning, and it's difficult to compare one with the other.

Lamborghini Aventador SV Sold Out Those who were hoping to own an Aventador SV are going to have to begin searching our website for listings, because all 600 planned for production have been sold. The production numbers were only released April 20, just slightly over a month ago, but a June 1 Autovisie article on Telegraaf.nl tells us that each has found a home.
An importer reportedly filled Autovisie in on the details, letting them know that 200 are planned for delivery to North and South America, 200 to the Asian-Pacific market and the last 200 for Europe. More at: blog.dupontregistry.com/dupont-features

Porsche Finishes Production on the 918 Spyder It seems as though it's over just as quickly as it all began: after 21 months of production time, Porsche has rolled the last 918 Spyder off of the line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. This news comes to us in a press release issued June 19 by Porsche.

Porsche has long been renowned for its impressive abilities in crafting powerful and sleek cars for the road and the track, but a few of their production models stand out far beyond the rest for their ability to conquer both. From 1986-89, the 959 reigned supreme in the world of luxury performance cars. Its twin-turbocharged flat six engine was capable of reaching 195 mph, making it the fastest car of its time. But it wasn't until nearly 20 years later that another supercar came from the marque: the Carrera GT.
With a call back to their history and a strong gaze on the future, Porsche Design has unveiled their latest timepiece for men: the Chrontimer Series 1. Though based on the first Porsche timepiece ever created, a design from Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972, these timepieces have been developed entirely independently by the marque's design house. His principals of design were optimal readability, technical perfection, highest quality materials and puristic design with a focus on function, and each of those has been fully imbued in this new line. Spike's Tactical Gurkha RPV by Terradyne Armored A collaboration between famed firearm manufacturer Spike’s Tactical and Terradyne Armored Vehicles is one that will undoubtedly result in something jaw-dropping. Recently, the two companies did, in fact, team up for a special edition Gurkha RPV. When Spike reached out to Terradyne to build a Gurkha RPV Civilian Edition they knew that the end result would be nothing short of a monster. The final RPV build is created around the Gurkha RPV Civilian Edition and consists of a blacked out exterior with matte black paint, 40.5″ Michelin XZL tires, 2 + 3 seating configuration and GPS navigation, and it’s powered by a 6.7-liter V8 turbo diesel engine. And, because it is the special Spike’s Tactical Edition, it includes some upgrades specific to the company, including a towing package, front winch, IR lights and an LED light bar package by Rigid Industries. 2013 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 SUPER SNAKE. If you are a true mustang addict, this should be the centerpiece of your collection. While the “normal” Super Snake had to make due with 850 hp, the Hole Shot package retailed for $22,995 and makes over 900 hp. Starting with four giant camshafts, the package adds long tube headers and high flow cats. The crank pulley is overdriven 10% to slow down the accessories. A twin disc clutch and Torsen differential are added to cope with the power. This package also includes all components from the Anti-Hop kit which replaces all control arms, adds full sub frames, a tunnel brace, welded axle tubes, and a surge tank for the differential, and chrome moly axle shafts. Before delivery the car was dyno tuned to dial in the computer to the cams and exhaust. The paint is a deep candy red with the Super Snake decal package in silver. Matte black forged 20” wheels. n 1965 Carroll Shelby was in a race against the clock to produce 100 completed 427 ‘Compe on Cobras’ to qualify as an FIA GT class manufacturer. Falling short of the requirement, Shelby put the project on hold. 50 years a er the original project began, the Carroll Shelby Trust has elected to complete the remaining 34 Compe on Chassis big block Cobras. Building the cars from scratch and sold as true race cars, these Shelby 427 ‘Compe on Cobras’ are a complete vehicle including an Iron 427 FE side-oiler engine. The CSX3000 series Cobra was built closely to the GT class specs used by Shelby American to compete for the 1966 FIA World Championship. The original style details are carried throughout the vehicle including the hand rolled aluminum body, cast iron bell housing and rear end, top loader manual transmission, original style Gurling disk brakes, and Koni coil over shocks. Each of the 34 remaining 427 ‘Compe on Cobras’ come with an MSO signed by Carroll Shelby lis ng it as a 1965 Shelby Cobra.
