Remembering Kaye A. Pearson On March 21, 2009 the boating world lost a great man, Kaye Pearson, a man of integrity and great inspiration that was at the helm of the effort to transport Florida and the American recreational marine industry to unprecedented global leadership. I had the opportunity to speak with the one person who knows him better than anyone, his beloved wife Cheri who shared the best of life with Kaye. I cannot find better words than hers.
Alan, Many people have recently told me the Kaye frequently used the word "Spectacular". That was his favorite way of describing almost anything he was passionate about. I have found that it is also the one word that I would use to describe most of his life, SPECTACULAR! The things that he was able to do in his life, most people only dream of doing.

On a note I received from Andrew Doole, the Senior V.P. at Show Management he used a quote from Winston Churchill to describe what Kaye meant to him. Andrew said, "Never has one man done so much for so many". I truly believe that. I have always known Kaye was an extraordinary man to me, our families, employees, friends or acquaintances...but the outpouring of admiration so many have expressed for him has been amazing. He really did touch so many people in so many ways.
The quote that I spoke of from George Carlin that Kaye absolutely lived by was "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...holy sh*t...what a ride!" That is how I am getting through the worst time of my life; by knowing that he completely enjoyed his life and I was able ride with him for a while. His passion for all of life was contagious. I believe that is why he was so successful in so many ways.

A Word About Security Marine-related theft is a quickly growing threat to boat owners and their ability to protect their property, secure proper insurance and afford the premiums. As many as 27,000 boats are stolen annually, according to the International Association of Marine Investigators... Here is the latest from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission- Division of Law Enforcement; Marine-related theft is a growing problem in Florida. This chart illustrates the trend of thefts throughout the year and gives a three-year comparison.
Tracking Device Leads Florida Sheriff's Department To Stolen Boat Within 60 Minutes Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA) . A 35-foot Fountain equipped with the Nav-Tracker 2.0 wireless boat location and GPS tracking system from Paradox Marine helped the Broward County, Florida Sheriff's Department recover the $200,000 boat within 54 minutes on Saturday (January 3). Boat owner Alberto Verdesi had installed the Nav-Tracker system in October. About 6 am ET on Saturday morning, Nav-Tracker sent a text message to Verdesi's cell phone that his boat was on the move without his permission and where it was headed. He called the Broward Sheriff's Department, which dispatched a helicopter to locate the boat. When the helicopter flew over the location, the thieves ran off, but the $200,000 boat was recovered in good shape.
Paradox Marine Receives US Coast Guard Medal For Help With Stolen Boat Recovery Nav-Tracker 2.0 Located Stolen Boat In The Bahamas, Recovered By Coast Guard 12 Hours Later Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA) . Wireless boat security systems supplier Paradox Marine has received a medal from the US Coast Guard in recognition of its innovative product, the NAV-TRACKER 2.0 GPS Tracking System. The system helped the Coast Guard recover a stolen boat in the Bahamas last September 17. A 34-foot Contender equipped with the Paradox Marine Nav-Tracker 2.0 GPS tracking system, stolen from Marsh Harbor in the Bahamas, was located by the system and recovered in the vicinity by the US Coast Guard about 12 hours later. When a Nav-Tracker 2.0 transmitter is mounted discreetly on a boat, a wireless geo-fence. with a 500-meter range is created. If a boat is moved outside
of this fence, Nav-Tracker 2.0 uses Inmarsat based GPS satellite technology to monitor a boat s location and notify up to 10 people by email and/or text message every 15 minutes with the latitude/longitude, speed and heading. he Meisman family of Tarpon Springs on the West Coast of Florida started Quality T-Tops, a marine aluminum fabrication business in 1995. Dave Meisman, his wife Trish, along with their then teenage sons Kevin and Travis, put together a team of welders and began producing custom aluminum work out of a 9,000 square foot building on the Anclote River. T-Tops, the aluminum framed, canvas topped sunshades that mount over traditional center consoles, were, and still are, one of their most popular items. “In our first year we built T-Tops and some other good sized items for a mostly local crowd,” Dave said. Dave and Travis Meisman working closely with the area’s veteran fishermen, designed and crafted what would be the first towerboats to fish the waters of Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. Quality T-Tops, now with over 35,000 square feet to work from, has now become the largest aluminum fabricator in West Florida offering not just welding but canvas work, fiberglass fabrication, and rigging services. Custom boat companies such as Intrepid, Jupiter, Gause, and Cooper have most of their factory aluminum work done by the Meisman family business and the list of clients grows every day. Dave says, “When we started this company we did work on about 50 boats a year. Now we do about 500. We have built tops or towers for sportfishing boats up to 72 feet long and excursion vessels much larger while they sat in the water out back,” Today console towers have supplanted TTops and the number one product requested by the boaters and fishermen. “We still do a lot of T-Tops, leaning posts, marlin towers, and poling platforms but the console towers have edged them all out as our biggest sellers in the last few years,” Travis explained. This is apparent with a visit to the facility where, among other large aluminum parts, rows of glistening new silver console tower frames are lined up in various stages of construction or installation. Dozens of boats from 15 feet to 35 feet line the interior of the massive building and a dozen more are outside or tied up to the docks out back. Teams of helmeted welders, wire riggers, pipe benders, canvas artisans, and others are busy working just about everywhere you look. So where do they go next? “We are guided solely by the needs of the fishing and boating community. Whatever the next big thing is, we’ll be there making what they want,” Dave says. And the future of this family business? With a proud look on his face Dave Meisman states, “Travis and Kevin have done a great job and essentially run the show now. Trish and I still help with some of the day to day operations but we have stepped back a little bit. The boys are quite capable of handling the operation themselves.”

The garage houses a Yamaha 1300 WaveRunner, diving equipment, fishing poles and a storm anchor.Telescopic outriggers support a custom awning that attaches to the Masthead electronic EQP tower. KVH mini-M satellite phone and TV, Furuno 250 KW 95nm ARPA radar, Airmar weather station, a 150-decibel twin trumpet air horn, Wi-Fi, cell phone and two VHF radio antennas. The entire aft deck floor lifts hydraulically for access to the engine room, which also houses two A/C cold water chillers, a 750-gallon-a-day water maker, a generator, a seastrainer, emergency stern/bow thrusters and anchor and windlass controls. Computer and telephone connections facilitate engine maintenance and diagnostics. “It has all the features of a large yacht, compressed into a high-performance boat,” said Capt. James Misiak, who consulted on the vessel. “It’s like traveling with a three-bedroom condo,” added Knight. “There is no comparison to any other performance boat; the handling is smooth as a baby’s bottom. As a designer and builder, Nils is fabulous.”

35 ft. Falcon Interceptor - People gather any where this boat shows up as it looks like a Top secret Navy experimental weapon. One of the fastest home away from home you will find. There has been well over $400,000 spent building this all aluminum boat. $100,000 was spent this past winter on fresh 2400 hp installed by the Nortec dealer in Canada that will push this boat over the 115 MPH mark. All new Nor-Tech 4000 Supercat Roadster. Having produced over 80 3600 Supercats between 2003 and 2008, it was time to give those owners something new so that they could move up. Although the 4300 and now 4400 Supercat and Roadster have been available the 12’ beam was a deterrent to some buyers. When it came time for a new model we looked to our customers to come up with a wish list of features they wanted. In addition we took a look at features that would convince someone to buy a cat in the first place. What we found was that in addition to speed and handling, recreational boaters really appreciate having a comfortable sun lounge, six person cockpit, room to move around In the cockpit, easy access to the head and cabin, a dash that can accommodate a large screen GPS, a safe way to swim off the transom without stepping on the drives and props and finally a 10’9” beam to make trailering easier. The 4000 has an answer for all of those needs in a package that offers impeccable styling. The all new cockpit is 18” longer and wider than the 3600 providing plenty of room for the passengers to move about when necessary.
From the cockpit you can access the padded sun lounge. The clever design is recessed so as not to spoil the lines and image of a high performance cat and also provides a measure of safety for the occupants. Continuing aft there are molded swim steps for boarding and while tying up. The bustle completely shields the drives and props for improved safety for swimming. The newly styled helm and dash continues to offer the dual steering option yet can house up to a 15” GPS screen in the middle for precise navigation at speed. Flanking the dash are two cabin access doors which are larger than previous models. On the port side is a head compartment with a porta-potti and sink. To starboard is the cabin side with a bench seat and a large bunk. Of course all of these features had to be wrapped up in the latest in exterior styling and performance.
