Trip Advisor’s number one island sits in the Caribbean as an offshore haven near a gorgeous barrier reef and is rapidly becoming one of the hottest markets in the world. It has trumped traditional tropical destinations in many Americans’ travel plans, turning vacationers into partial and full-time residents. The island, Belize’s Ambergis Caye, is home to the quiet town of San Pedro, where Bill Gates sips his morning coffee on his mega yacht offshore and where Leonardo diCaprio and Bradley Cooper go for morning jogs. Nestled between Mexico and Guatemala, Belize is a rapidly growing Central American country with a rich history. “The mainland offers the lush jungle, the rivers, the culture and the people,” described Daniel Hartin, Managing Partner at Sandy Point Real Estate Ambergris Caye. He went on to describe the melding of Mexican, Mayan and Spanish cultures that influenced what Ambergris Caye is today, a location nicknamed “the Rolex of the Caribbean.” There are a collection of exclusive luxury resort communities on the island, many being managed by Sandy Point Real Estate. He went on to chronicle Belize’s significant increase in travel accessibility, saying, "Just this year, Southwest Airlines flights to Belize has brought more than one thousand additional visitors per week." Undoubtedly, Belize is quickly becoming both a tourist destination and investment property. From the tropical surroundings to the vibrant culture and friendly atmosphere, it’s no wonder Ambergris Caye is the place Madonna longs for in her song “La Isla Bonita”, singing “I fell in love with San Pedro, warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me…”
