Designed in 1895 by the legendary East Coast architect Stanford White, the 10,000-square-foot, two-story home with wraparound, columned verandas, evokes a feeling of another era. It’s also one of the most prestigious addresses in the U.S. “It’s a very private social scene, with parties and cultural events, galleries, the best shopping,” says Don Winkler who, with partner Robyn Griffin, sells ultra-high-end homes and condos almost exclusively within Naples’ relative small city limits. “We have CEOs of major companies who have second and third homes here, and they know they can live here quietly and confidentially.” Winkler and Griffin, who work under the John R. Wood, REALTORS umbrella, allow that Naples, like pretty much every other community in America, went through a real estate slump, even in the realm of multi-million-dollar homes. “In most instances, properties sat on the market with very few showings,” Don says. “Most of us who had been in the market for awhile kind of sat on the sidelines.
