The Progression’s new elliptical heatsinks ensure optimum heat dissipation at full rated power, increased in the M550 Mono Amplifier to 550 watts into 8 ohms, doubling into 4 ohms and doubling again into 2 ohms. Similarly, the Progression S350 Stereo Amplifier outputs 350 watts per channel into 8 ohms, doubling respectively. Advancements to input stage topology improve signal-to-noise ratio, channel separation and bandwidth— especially high-frequency response—while the revised output stage incorporates new power transistors employed in the Relentless for greater power handling. Super Rail topology—simple in description but complex in execution—provides exceptional headroom for ideal output stage operation, where both amplifiers employ 48 output transistors powered by a nearly 2,000 VA power supply transformer and 100,000 microfarads of power supply storage capacitance. And of course, the iconic face of the D’Agostino power meters, inspired by the elegant faces of classic Swiss watches, continues with the Progression series. So while measurements like greater power and even lower crossover distortion matter, the proof of these combined advancements is expressed by improved dynamic impact, tonal richness, spatial integrity and instrumental timbre.
