Jack Kelly enjoys nothing more than being outdoors with his feet in the water and a rod and reel in hand. But when he began experiencing chronic knee pain, Jack thought his fishing days were over. “I started falling fairly frequently in the stream, or would get knocked off balance in the surf,” Jack said. After meeting with his orthopedic surgeon, it was decided that Jack should have bilateral (both knees) knee replacement at Dosher Memorial Hospital. “I knew that at Dosher, I wasn’t getting just any old knees off of a shelf,” Jack said. “They customfit my new knees to my body.” Amazingly, Jack was able to stand up and shuffle around the room just hours after surgery. And he was happy to have done
both knees at the same time. “When both knees were done, they were done,” Jack explained. “I didn’t have to go through the procedure a second time.” Jack also used Dosher for his physical therapy. “I came to Dosher three days a week and did my physical therapy for the next 10 weeks,” Jack said. “And those folks did an incredible job.” With two new knees, Jack was able to get back to life, and that meant back to fishing. “I’ve been in a trout stream since then,” Jack said. “There is no pain, and there is no more instability.” “There is no doubt in my mind that the success that I experienced was due to the quality care provided by the Dosher staff,” Jack said. “I wouldn’t want my knees replaced anywhere else.”
