Depending on knots and splicing, the breaking load may decrease by 20 to 50 %. Splice your ropes as often as you can, and thimble them especially if they are in contact with metallic parts.

Mixed (rope/lead) mooring lines

To prolong your ropes lifetime and keep their mechanical characteristics, use mooring compensators to prevent abrasion and strain. During wintering, rinse out your ropes in fresh water and let them dry before stowing them. A second anchoring is highly recommended to face strong gusts.

Flexible braided polyester, ideal for lightweight anchors and grapnels. Can replace the chain of a standard anchor for second anchoring. Features a galvanised thimble. Ø mm

Chainplates or turnbuckle ? - Most sailing boats are equipped with chainplates to fasten the forestay to the stem fitting. Chainplates come with several holes which facilitates the adjustment of the standing rigging. The use of chainplates also allows to position the tack point as low as possible. - The turnbuckle version allows for more accurate rigging adjustments. However, the tack point will have to be positionned slightly higher depending on the turnbuckle size.

Which jib reefing size for my boat ? Plastimo proposes 4 models to fit all sailboats from 4 to 13 metres. While the boat length is important, you must also consider the forestay diameter and the headsail size. For example, in the case of a 6-metre boat, the 406 model will offer the best compromise. However, if the headsail size is much larger than the maximum sail area recommended, selecting a 609 model is a better option.

Each assembly operation requires the utmost care and attention, such as the setting of the Torlon® balls in the 316L stainless steel cages.

811 jib reefing The 811 drum cheeks swivel through 360°, ensuring safe manoeuvres through a regular feeding of the tiller rope. The drum core is manufatured from highly resistant aluminium combining performance and lightweight features. 1012 and 1213 jib reefing The 1012 and 1213 sheet feeders are manufactured from fibreglass IXEF. The drum core and the halyard swivel are constructed from highly-resistant machine-cut aluminium. They are equipped with Torlon® ball bearings ensuring optimum efficiency even under a heavy strain. They can be installed either on the deck or in the chain locker. The 1012T and 1213T jib reefing systems are designed for easy installation with polyacetal quickcoupling sleeves. Winches Self-tailing winches The new self-tailing winches with spring loaded disk adapt automatically to even the thinnest ropes and, if overloading occurs, they release the line to avoid excess force on the self-tailing arm. Traveller control system The control system is connected to a traveller on a closed circuit and ensures efficient control and a clean layout. The system uses a self tailing pulley which operates in both direction with a textile “gripping” system that is efficient even if the circuit is not under strain and causes no wear in the rope. A clutch pin sets the direction in which the traveller moves, or allows for it to be locked in the required position. The power ratio obtainable with a normal (250 mm) handle is 8 to 1, which is much better than a tackle can offer ; moreover, this system has a very limited size and weight. Materials : it is made of hard black anodised aluminium, central rod and ball bearing of AISI 316 stainless steel. A 10 mm line is strongly recommended. Description

Vents Vents Plastimo solar vent is a fully self-powered equipment developed to ensure permanent air flow inside the boat all year round, to prevent condensation and moisture in the cabin. The solar vent features two elements : a solar cell on a 132 x 132 mm panel and the ventilation fan which includes a motor and a rechargeable battery.
