Marty Donald was the guitarist and primary songwriter in’ The Lucksmiths’, luminaries of the 1990s/2000s Melbourne indie scene. Renowned for their lyrical wit, they won critical acclaim and a loyal fan base across the world. Marty moved to the hills with his partner and son in 2008, shortly before The Lucksmiths wound things up. A few years later he formed ‘Last Leaves’ with former bandmates Mark Monnone and Louis Richter, along with fellow hills denizen Noah Symons. Their debut album Other towns than ours was released in 2017; they are currently working on a follow-up. He is also a keen birder, decent cook, and longsuffering St Kilda fan.
