Congratulations December Graduates!
East Texas Baptist University presented 132 graduates with degrees during two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 11, in Baker Chapel of the Rogers Spiritual Life Center. ETBU President J. Blair
Blackburn presided over the ceremony as 83 students received undergraduate degrees and 49 received graduate degrees. Read more about Commencement.
Christmas on the Hill
ETBU hosted its annual Christmas on the Hill, a special evening with the telling of the Christmas Story by Dr. Blackburn and activities for students, faculty, and staff. Christmas on the Hill featured Christmas caroling, a gingerbread house decorating competition, ornament decorating, a hot chocolate bar, yummy Christmas cookies, photos with Santa Claus, and even a visit from some of Santa's reindeer! ETBU Student Engagement gifted 250 free Christmas on the Hill mugs to commemorate the occasion for ETBU students.
ETBU Honors University Donors during Legacy 1912 Luncheon
East Texas Baptist University welcomed ETBC and ETBU retirees, Legacy of 1912 Society Members, and Endowed Scholarship Donors to campus Wednesday, November 10, for the annual Legacy of 1912 Society Chapel and Luncheon with students. The Legacy of 1912 Society is comprised of alumni and friends who, through thoughtful estate planning and other forms of planned giving, ensure that resources will be available to support ETBU far into the future. During the luncheon, the University celebrated those who choose to give, so ETBU students can continue to pursue the God-given calling on their lives. Attendees were encouraged with a message from Dr. David Dykes, Pastor Emeritus at Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler and current Interim Pastor at Mobberly Baptist Church, Longview. Alumni Spotlight: Kyle Jackson
Kyle Jackson ('06) would have started a church plant wherever God led him. As it turns out, God was leading him to Lago Mar, a beautiful, planned community surrounding crystal-clear lakes, not unlike a vacation destination. Legacy Students: Hannah and Sarah Resendez
Meet our Legacy Students, Hannah and Sarah Resendez from San Salvador, El Salvador. Honors students with adjacent rooms in Linebery Hall this semester, Hannah is a senior Christian Studies major while Sarah is a freshman majoring in Humanities with a concentration in Law and Society. Hannah and Sarah are the daughters of Erik ('96) and Susan (Holt) Resendez ('09), who are the founders and executive directors of Hope 4 El Salvador, an organization that works to bring the hope of Christ to El Salvador. We are so grateful to have Hannah and Sarah here on the Hill, and we are thrilled to hear how their family lives out the Great Commission.

62 Graduating Seniors Receive ETBU Ring during Ring Blessing Ceremony East Texas Baptist University honored 62 graduating seniors with the presentation of their official ETBU Class Ring. The Ring Blessing was held Wednesday, November 17, for the December graduates of 2021. Inspired by Deuteronomy 6, the Class Ring allows ETBU Alumni to carry and display the love of Christ. Read More.
East Texas Baptist University Theatre Showcases Graduate Preparedness The ETBU School of Communication and Performing Arts took the stage November 18-19 for their productions of "Sylvia" by A.R. Gurney and "Any Body for Tea?" by C.B. Gilford. Two ETBU graduating seniors directed the shows to simulate Texas UIL One Act Play competitions and prepare them for their future careers. Read More.
