Get to Know Alumna Dr. Leah (Chiles) Grant ('05) For Dr. Leah (Chiles) Grant ('05), ETBU was the perfect fit. The close-knit community and small class sizes provided Dr. Grant the environment she was looking for in a University. "I grew up 45 minutes away from ETBU, but I had never heard of the school until my youth pastor mentioned it to me," Dr. Grant said. "Coming from a high school the size of ETBU appealed to me and it allowed me to be close to family." According to Dr. Grant, she was a bit worried that she was at a disadvantage entering medical school because she graduated from a smaller institution, but was grateful for her preparedness for the rigors of medical study through the excellent education of the ETBU Science Department. "When I began my coursework, I was relieved to discover that I was not at a disadvantage at all," Dr. Grant said. "In fact, I realized I received just as good of an education, if not better, because of the smaller class sizes and my professors' availability outside of class." Today, Dr. Grants works as a urologist in Paris, Texas, and loves using her gifts to serve others through medicine.
"Being a physician is such a rewarding field," Dr. Grant said. "I enjoy being able to help people in their time of need, and I am grateful for the education I have received that allows me to succeed in this profession."
