CHESSINGTON SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 21/06/2024 Everyonevalued • Everydayanopportunity • Everymomentfocusedonsuccess

Dear Parents, carers and all in the Chessington community

I have been blown away by our students this week, we have truly lived and breathed our values of Everyone valued, Every day an opportunity and Every moment focused on success. Through all of the activities these have shone through, Diversity week, the last of the Year 11 GCSE exams, Sports Day and Year 7&8 End of Year exams I continue to be very proud of our students, their effort and energy for these events, which at times have challenged them, whether it was a viewpoint, a tricky exam or competing in the 800m has been nothing short of excellent I have also witnessed some incredible support for each other

I know that Year 9’s will continue to be focused next week for their exams and our prefects will be ready to welcome our new Year 7 parents and students for their induction evening on Thursday and I am very much looking forward to our Year 11’s Prom on Friday evening and Hampton Court Golf Club

I will leave you with thoughts from Ms Jacob and Mrs Rowden who have been instrumental in the creation and organisation of these events.

Have a lovely weekend

Wilson

DIVERSITY WEEK

It has been a vibrant and colourful week at Chessington School as we celebrate our first Diversity Week. My huge thanks for supporting us in embracing the week and showing the importance of being an inclusive community, where our students feel accepted and welcome

Our Diversity Ambassadors have done a fantastic job in raising awareness, through the lunch time Pride Stall and Cake Sale, and it has been wonderful to see so many students proudly wearing their Pride badges

Many important conversations have taken place this week between staff and students in their lessons and in their tutor time, but it has also been a real learning experience for us also; I have learnt so much about our incredibly diverse student and staff body through the comments written for our reception display and I look forward to celebrating and embracing our differences in the next school year

We are currently accepting donations of books in good condition and of a suitable age range (11-16). If you have books that fit this description that you are happy to donate, please bring them to our Main Reception before the end of the summer term. We thank you in advance for any donations you are able to make

MRS HIGGINS

A massive thank you to Mrs Higgins for all of her work on exams so far. Each year 11 student has sat an average of 16 exams, with many more still to come for our Year 7 - Year 9 cohort. Mrs Higgins has handled and packaged over 3000 exam papers with the help over her brilliant team of invigilators over the last 6 weeks. This has been a massive job and certainly could not be done without her - thank you!
