A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR This is a birthday of sorts, a harkening of a new beginning and a new chapter, not only for me personally but also for the entire CV Luxury team. The triumph of this first issue does not rest solely on the shoulders of any one person, but rather this group of creative spirits who came together with one common goal; the desire to make something that no one else has ever attempted to do in the Valley. I could have never started this endeavor without my friends and partners, Donna Kaczmarski and Eddie Melikian. Without their support and belief in this product, CV Luxury would not have been possible. Between Donna’s optimism and Eddie’s attention to detail, I know that we have a winning combination. They have become more than just business associates but rather family, a family which I have chosen carefully and you will come to appreciate as well. Along the way I have made new friends in old acquaintances. Bree Wilber, a kindred spirit, who can translate the vision of the magazine with such ease and dexterity that I find myself pondering how exactly she can see what is in my head before I ever actually go to say it. Lauren Wilson, whose out of the box philosophies on style and life in general make me giddy with excitement. Ruthie Inocencio, who with one flick of her wrist, can deliver magic on any given day, especially on Sunday’s. And finally, Ciara Norton, whose lyrical writing takes every piece from drab to fab in less than 15 minutes. If there is one thing I have learned during this process, it’s that it is not about the work you do, but rather the company you keep. It is this group of people that make up CV Luxury, and I am so honored to share everyday with them. It is with great pride and excitment that we kick-off the New Year with our first edition. Within this issue you will find inspiration to change up your life, your appearance and even your wardrobe. So, take some time, sit down, relax and redefine yourself this New Year. Who knows what you may discover.

A SOCIAL AFFAIR BMW AND PORSCHE WEST COAST DEBUT
The Grand Opening of Fresno BWM and Porsche took place on October 16 and 17. Over 500 people were in attendance as the dealership showcased some of its latest models of sport and luxury vehicles. The event was catered by International Catering; meticulously appointed with black and white accents throughout and large feathered center pieces. It was a truly fabulous evening as the dealership kicked-off the new year.

A SOCIAL AFFAIR SAINT AGNES FASHION SHOW
This year the Saint Agnes Women’s Club presented a Las Vegas themed fashion and entertainment event featuring several local boutiques and department stores including Eleganza, Patrick James and She She. Proceeds from various silent auction items went to the Holy Cross Center for Women, located in downtown Fresno. For more than 28 years the Center has been a refuge for homeless and underserved women and their children. Each day the Center welcomes an average of 130 women and their children, providing daytime shelter and counseling. For more information regarding the services provided by the Holy Cross Center for Women, please contact the Foundation office at Saint Agnes Medical Center (559) 450-2040.

BLACK, WHITE & BRIGHT ALL OVER WITH LAUREN K.T. WILSON
may seem a tad ambitious to start planning exactly what we’ll be wearing come spring, but it never hurts to get a jump on things. After all, it was way back in September when designers showcased their spring collections on the illustrious catwalks. Fashion editors everywhere were all a twitter, (pun intended), instagraming images before they even set foot back in their office to pen their favorite pieces and which looks synthesized across all four fashion capitals. Now, here we are in January, after months of trend anticipation, and the department store merchandising teams are hard at work. Resort collections are beginning to drop, windows are being impeccably styled, and the lure of heated showrooms is beckoning us inside to investigate the pieces we’ve only seen in the pages of our favorite magazines.

FASHION CHANGES, BUT STYLE ENDURES. - COCO CHANEL

Ladies, I have to be honest with you; as you can probably tell, fashion makes me giddy. I look forward to seeing my favorite designers’ interpretations of the seasons. There are few things in life that spark a serotonin rush quite like the idea of finally getting to see in person their newest shoes, bags, clothes and other wearable art. But, of course it’s January. Winter is in full effect and as thrilling as the prospect is to finally be face-to-face with some of those amazing pieces, reluctantly I have to admit, I get cold easily. That being said, with all the pretty popping up, I’d like to think that where there is a will… there is definitely a way to incorporate a few into our winter wardrobe. So, while some of the more prevalent looks seen across the board were amazing sheer chiffons, complete color shifts from bold to pastel, and even the trend that won’t let go of its 15 minutes, crop tops. There are innumerable ways to update your look that will leave you dressed for the elements while feeling pretty and modern at the same time. Now, the jackpot question in advance. When thinking about the spring runway trends, which can we incorporate now? So, from our fashion notebook to yours, here are a few of the latest and greatest that will keep you warm through winter and always in style!

EVERY YEAR WE MAKE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS. THEY ARE PROMISES WE MAKE TO OURSELVES INTENDED TO IMPROVE OUR LIVES. THIS TRADITION GOES BACK THOUSANDS OF YEARS TO THE BABYLONIAN TIMES WHEN PROMISES WERE MADE TO THE GODS FOR WELLBEING AND FORTUNE. UNFORTUNATELY STUDIES SHOW THAT ONLY 10-12% OF PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY ACHIEVE THEIR NEW YEAR’S GOALS, AS THEY SHOULD BE A LIFESTYLE AND BEHAVIOR CHANGE. Chad was excited to get home that night because we had plans to attend the Fresno State versus Boise State football game. I was pretty excited too, for obvious other reasons. But, I had a couple of fun ways to reveal the exciting news to him up my sleeve. One of which included giving him a Fresno State athletic-branded onesie. he home Ivette Ibarra built with her husband is a true testament to their love for each other and their family. It is a place where memories have been created and shared, where lavish parties and gatherings have transpired; and if it were not for the family
that resides here, none of it would really matter. Welcoming and gracious is how I would describe its architecture and its lady of the house, the charming and refined, Ivette Ibarra. Her unique outlook on life and family is a breath of fresh air in this monumental home. She built it for her family. Amongst the paintings, the drapes and the marble sits a photographic journal of her family which is proudly displayed; a collection of snapshots commemorating special events and holidays.

When I chatted with Ivette it became clear how dedicated she is to her husband and children. She designed the kitchen to be a centerpiece for the home, a place where her family could gather and exchange stories from the day. “The kitchen is by far my favorite room,” Ivette said. “It is the place where all the action happens. It’s where everyone gathers around and shares whatever is happening in their lives and the place where we spend the most time together. I love this room because it allows us to enjoy each other, which is really what makes each day so special.” Ivette is no stranger to her kitchen. She prepares breakfast and dinner each day for her family. “One of my favorite meals to prepare is something I used to make for the children when they were younger,” Ivette said. “It’s called gallo pinto which is white rice with organic beans from Nicaragua. The reason why it is our favorite meal is because I grew up eating gallo pinto and my kids grew up eating gallo pinto as well; and to this point, it is our favorite meal.” To prepare the gallo pinto, you must first boil white rice and then boil the same quantity of beans separately. To get the original gallo pinto taste you need organic Nicaraguan beans. Then, you slice a quarter of an onion into small pieces and you place them together with virgin olive oil in a pan. We go to the extreme to make people feel like they are in their own home. We enjoy making our guest feel comfortable and welcomed, as though they are part of our family.” The home itself is simply captivating, from its double staircase and oversized fireplace, to the classic fresco reliefs and art. The visual stimulation is ever present, from the foyer and great room to the sumptuous master bathroom. However, amongst all these treasures I was most taken by one thing, Ivette.
