Look to the Growing Edge by Gary Gach Around 25 years ago, George Gach, a relative of mine in the Twin Cities area, gave me a subscription to a new periodical for my birthday: The Edge. Back then, he knew me as the black sheep of the family — into esoteric “New Age” things like meditation, Buddhism, Tai Chi and astrology. At the time, I was thrilled. Beyond the “shock of recognition,” I was encouraged by the fellowship of kindred spirits, all engaged in the One Work. For its 26th anniversary, I wish to add my humble voice to the ongoing celebration by recalling what The Edge has meant to me over the years. Right off, there’s a familiar, simple, common sense of an edge as a tool of power. Something that slices could mean vanquishing enemies, or simply, opening something up. Everyone needs an edge of power. For some, it might come in the form of a bankroll; for others, a badge; for an opera singer, it’s a voice. For me, it’s being able to pause, breathe, and locate myself within a bigger frame of reference, and live accordingly for my own well-being and that of others. The edge of The Edge, if you will, is a divine ability to be open to a diversity of paths. I believe this has kept it on the cutting edge for a quarter century. Certainly, no single, ideal reader is expected to adopt all the creative, spiritual, healing skills featured in The Edge. Instead, in its democratic inclusivity The Edge helps its readers discover, define and refine their own way. FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY On the path I’ve paved for myself, I’ve been honing my personal Zen mindfulness “edge.” It’s been nearly 50 years now since I embarked, but I’m still but a snail at the base of a great mountain, progressing slowly, slowly…inch by inch. The Edge provides me with food for the journey. The support of knowing I’m not alone is liberating. I know if I want to become enlightened like the Buddha, I can use all the help I can get.

As a spiritual practice, I read each issue cover-to-cover, just to learn of all the technicians of the sacred performing miracles in the world every day. This in itself is a therapeutic experience for me. It makes me glad to realize all there is I have yet to learn. And, in seeing a spectrum arrayed all in one place, my intuition and creativity is nourished as I intuit vital interconnections between nutrition and yoga; clairvoyance and shamanism; holy guidance and holistic health. Another precious trait that gives The Edge its edge is its support of ways of knowing and being which are different from the entrenched worldview. As editor and co-publisher Tim Miejan has observed, “What was groundbreaking in 1992 is now the foundational bedrock for experiential processes [today].” I’d like to invite you now to please take a few big steps back with me. Here we can witness the biggest edge of all: being on the crest of a wave of a rising tide. The Edge’s persistent trailblazing confirms the presence of one of the great, open secrets of our times. Scholars call it the rise of “the Nones” — people who say “I’m spiritual, but not religious.” Yet, this emergent edge within society is still unchartered territory oceanic in scope. As this reflective movement branches out into various sectors of society, we can see sprouts cropping up in various sectors. In education, more and more schools are offering their kids mindfulness as an early introduction to an essential curriculum for life-long learning. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is no less important than intellectual intelligence (IQ). It’s an essential survival skill for coping in a crazy world steeped in mindless violence. In medicine, we see a growing acceptance of complementary modes of treatment (formerly called “alternative”), such as, energy work, movement arts, and mind-body integration. More and more organizations are incorporating contemplative practices into the work environment. For instance, when I visited my publisher, Sounds True, in Colorado this spring, I was pleased to

see not only physical spaces for reflection and wellness, but moreover, a community that infuses its communications with mindfulness. In a word, they practice the spirituality that they publish. Likewise, more and more companies are redefining their bottom line as being triple: welfare of people and the planet alongside profit. Despite what I hear in the media, I fear the U.S. economy is facing a perilous decline, yet pockets of resilience are, at the same time, springing up. The Edge is a model of such. It demonstrates the viability of local economics creating community for full-spectrum benefits. It networks not only seekers along the Path, but also links people to contractors and car repair shops. In so doing, this allows a vibrant community to grow organically into greater complexity and scale. GRASSROOTS If I may, I’d like to cap this tribute with an even broader bird’s-eye view. We’re now coming to see all these examples as part of the greatest social movement in history. Leaderless, unnamed, and bottom-up, it’s made up of 1-2 million grassroots initiatives committed to the health of the planet and society. Often unknown to each other, The Edge offers them opportunities to connect and interconnect with each other. Swimming in this mighty current, each issue of The Edge gives me a chance to pause, look around, and see who’s swimming alongside me. For the next 26 years, let’s all look to the growing edge, and thrive. a GARY GACH, 50 years ago in Los Angeles, was the opening speaker inaugurating the First Gathering of the Tribes for a Human Be-In. His work has since been published in hundreds of magazines and journals, including BuddhaDharma, Common Ground, Kyoto Journal, Lilipoh, The New Yorker, Tricycle, Whole Earth Review, and Yoga Journal. Open Your Heart to the Hungry, Homeless Open Your Heart, which has been targeting donations to help hungry and homeless Minnesotans since 1986, is currently responding to an urgent need in downtown Minneapolis. This was recently released by Open Your Heart’s executive director, Ed Murphy: “In recent weeks a camp of homeless women, men and children has emerged and grown near downtown Minneapolis. This morning Open Your Heart visited the camp and counted 49 tents and many other makeshift sites. With an estimated population of at least 100, there has been only one portable toilet. Needless to say this is a very unhealthy and inhumane situation. The good news is that there are a number of public and private agencies, including the Mpls police that are working to ensure that there are some positive short- and long-term outcomes, including housing and shelter placement. Unfortunately, there is a severe shortage of available shelter beds and long-term housing is also in short supply. “Open Your Heart’s mission is to ensure that the most basic needs of food and shelter are available for the poorest and most vulnerable among us. So we are working with the local community in ensuring that as long as the camp is open, the most basic needs of adequate food, hygiene, showers, and toilets are available. We have partnered with the non-profit American Indian Community Development Corporation, and have provided immediate funding for daily availability of food for those in the camp. “As most of the camp residents are Native Americans we are especially happy to be able to partner with an agency that serves this community with such respect and decency. We are also working to ensure that a hygiene center is established that will provide adequate showers, toilets, health care, etc. Of course, an encampment in the middle of the city is not a long term solution, but we are a crisis agency and hundreds of Minnesotans with little choice but to camp outside is a crisis. If you’d like to help, please make a donation at www.oyh.org/donate/ and mention “Homeless Camp Fund” in the comments box. One hundred percent will be spent on emergency supplies and equipment. We hope that this crisis is resolved soon, but until it is, we are very concerned of the day to day needs of those living there. ” For more information on Open Your Heart, visit www.oyh.org. a 8   W W W. Benedictine Center events: How Food nurtures the Soul Dr. Norman Wirzba, professor of theology and ecology at Duke University Divinity School, is coming to St. Paul’s Monastery in Maplewood to make several presentations at the Benedictine Center. These presentations will focus on “food” and show how eating is “a profoundly spiritual act.” According to Sam Rahberg, director of the local center, “Dr. Wirzba has told us we will learn that what we eat and how we eat — both individually and collectively — reflect our gratitude, our stewardship, our generosity, our joy and our love. What we do with food is an extension of our relationship with others and with God.” Dr. Wirzba’s presentations are as follows: • A Day of Service and reflection: Friday, Oct. 19, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After Dr. Wirzba’s

presentation, participants will go to Fresh Earth Farms in Hastings and visit the Christian Community Cupboard in Oakdale, where they will get involved in transforming food from the soil to meals on the table. • A Celebration of Food and Community ” Friday, Oct. 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. At 5:30: Enjoy a potluck and share your story (donate a canned item). From 7 to 8:30: Stay to hear Dr. Wirzba explain how food is a manifestation of God’s love ($25 suggested donation). • A Retreat: “Do This in Remembrance of Me,” October 19-21. Your weekend will include prayer and cooking, learning more about gratitude and the importance of sharing more and wasting less ($100 for commuters; $175 shared room; $225 for single room). Dr. Wirzba pursues research

and teaching interests in theology, philosophy, ecology and agrarian and environmental studies. He lectures frequently and is the author of six books, most recently Way of Love: Recovering the Heart of Christianity, from Nature to Creation. “The world,” he writes, “…is the visual, fragrant, audible, touchable and testable manifestation of God’s love, the place where God’s desire that others be and be well finds earthly expression.” To register for these opportunities, go online to www.benedictinecenter. org, call 651.777.7251 or email benedictinecenter@ stpaulsmonastery.org. The Benedictine Center, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters at St. Paul’s Monastery, is located at 2675 Benet Road in Maplewood. a

September Horoscope: Think! MERCURIAL MESSAGES THROUGH THE ZODIAC

by Heather Roan Robbins Let’s use our brains this month. Mercury is direct, joining the sun in its own mentally active sign of Virgo on September 5, and industrious Saturn turns direct after a long retrograde on September 6 — and our minds are off to the races. Mercury trines electrical Uranus and Saturn on September 7, and it’s time to put plans into action and get the word out. A very active Mercury can stir up anxiety unless we give our minds a good place to exercise. So, if nerves arise, harness that energy for good use solving problems and learning fresh material. When our minds rev this fast, it’s easy to use our head as an escape pod and shift out of our heart, a process which can be particularly tricky after September 10-12 as Venus enters introverted Scorpio while Mars enters abstract Aquarius. Strong emotions can activate unconscious material, and it may feel easier to stay in our minds than explore our feelings. We have to stay conscious about our shadows to keep them from running the show, and because this passion holds clues to the source of our energy. Let’s work on mind-heart balance. September 18, direct a feisty, energized Mars-Uranus square carefully. Luckily the Sun and Mercury enter diplomatic Libra September 21-22, bring fresh creativity and help us soften our words.

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 19)…Dive right into the work as the month begins; get organized and connect with those who work for and with you. Tend to health concerns, healthy lifestyles, and pay kind attention to beloveds and coworkers mid-month. Practice your listening skills. Let that conversation deepen after September 21. Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)…Don’t get thrown by the nervy buzz. Let your natural sense of poetry flow as the month begins, and bring it to children of the creative process and children of the heart and body. Unconscious jealousy or envy can send mixed signals mid-month; keep lines of communication open and clear. Gemini (May 21-June 20)…September is a potential-filled roller coaster; stay calm and on point. Pick up threads of dropped projects. Scintillate, but don’t pass superficially over other’s deep pain. Keep that heart open. Watch for misunderstandings mid-month as Mercury opposes Neptune. Take your ideas public after September 22. Cancer (June 21-July 22)…Invest in your community as September begins; clean-up misunderstandings and reconnect. Check in 1 0  W W W. E D G E M A G A Z I N E . N E T

with siblings. Soften your defenses, but stay out of the line of fire mid-month; sidestep strong emotional torque and work towards your goals. Compassion furthers; remind people who forget. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)…Reassess your financial priorities. Decide what you care enough about to be a source of bounty for you and a resource for others. Check in with relatives and take gentle leadership within the family. Stay flexible mid-month; no need to fight, just witness and reserve judgment. Shine after the fall equinox. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)…Be ready to roll. Don’t waste time second-guessing; jump in, get the word out, update your website and make work overtures. Mid-month, let waves of anxiety pass through and get back on track. Plant your crops before the equinox; relax and tend your crops afterwards. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)…Your life may appear relatively quiet, but your inner world is active. Make an appointment with your muse and give room for your dreams, for creative vision. But you may be challenged in practicality; find a balance between impulse spending and withholding and gently take care of needs. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)…Learn vicariously this month; keep lines of communication open and support others’ projects; let them take point; this way, you empower them and benefit with less risk. Deepen those connections by being trustworthy mid-month. Exercise your natural talent for only speaking when it matters. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)…Career opportunities abound if you stay on track.

It’s vital that you neither talk over others nor forget to speak clearly, without charge, and raise the gaze to farther horizons. Mid-month, if people get strange behind-the-scenes, don’t take it personally; just shine light on it and let in fresh air. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan.19)…You may return to the site of an old battle, but don’t get stuck in the past. Look backwards for wisdom to bring into the future as new chapters start. Tend connections with education, foreign countries, people from faraway; broaden your horizon. After the equinox, reconnect with isolated friends. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)…Tend your relationship to other people’s resources; whether borrowing, lending, or advising, keep it clean and calm. Your intuition may be active but muddied mid-month; take notes, but check your facts. Avoid confusion at work; make sure everyone’s on the same page. Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)…Make your partners (work or love) look good, and you’ll look good; keep the conversation fluid and adaptable. Take moments of spiritual retreat mid-month; the deeper you go inside, the busier you can be and still stay sane. Feel curiosity arise about faraway places, but keep the work focus close to home. a HEATHER ROAN ROBBINS is a heart-centered and choice-oriented astrologer, palmist and ceremonialist with 30+ years’ experience. Quick and Easy, Saucy Cheesy! FOOD FIRST

by Nutrition Julie This is one of the easy “go-to” recipes in my family. There are very few ingredients and you can either make it ahead of time and bake it later or make and bake all at once. Sorry my vegan friends, this one has some cheese! It’s easy and yummy even without the cheese, though if you want to give it a try. There are a lot of “anti-bean” messages out there these days, but I love the plant protein and fiber and find it to be a delicious and inexpensive way to feed my family. Give it a try and see what you think! Serve with a side salad and fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden.

POBLANO RAPIDO

4 poblano peppers, washed, halved and seeded (make sure to select goodsized peppers that serve as a “boat” for the other ingredients 4 15.5-oz. cans of black beans, rinsed and drained 4 10-oz. cans of red or green enchilada sauce 8 oz. shredded Mexican blend cheese Place the 4 halved poblano peppers in a 9x13 glass pan (8 halves total). Spread the rinsed and drained beans, divided equally, into the halved peppers. Pour enchilada sauce over all peppers equally. Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and bake at 375°F for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown. Like most people, I’ve always been more sure of what I don’t want than what I do. When I realized I was no longer an agnostic, I decided to move into Christianity. When I decided that Christianity no longer felt authentic, I left the church. What replaces religion? What replaces the structure and doctrine that one has lived by for years? I think many people would agree with me that there doesn’t seem to be a next obvious step. Instead of making another decision about my spirituality, I found myself…just waiting. Waiting for what I wasn’t sure. I became a student of metaphysics by accident. My waiting involved reading and I somehow found my way to channeled literature. I’m not even sure how that happened. An article here, an internet show there, and I had accumulated enough resources to start to get curious. That’s when The Collective came to me. I think they were waiting, too. Waiting for the right time when I would be willing to embrace things I never believed before. On April 9, 2016, I witnessed a UFO in the skies above my home in Greenville, Wisc. I just looked out a window and there it was. Silent and brilliant and full of meaning. It hung there for hours, and when I finally went to bed, it was still right where it first appeared, just patiently waiting. A past-life regression, a trip to Sedona, and four psychics later, I was a channel. The Collective has since told me that they weren’t in the ship I saw that night. They don’t dwell in ships, nor do they dwell in bodies. They are discarnate energy from the various star systems that have interacted with the Earth from the beginning. The ship was sent as a sign. Which is similar to my role as channel. The message is from them, I’m just the means of delivering it. I didn’t worry much at the beginning about what to call them. Their messages at that time were primarily just for me and I was learning rapidly that I needed to pay attention, record the channels, and study their teaching for myself before I would ever feel comfortable delivering their messages to others. They spoke of love, and joy, and integrity, and compassion. They told me things about myself that helped me understand why I am as I am and that I’ve always had a choice to be otherwise. They taught me about responsibility and freedom and I wanted desperately to be worthy of the messages that they delivered. It was a tumultuous time filled with awe and fear and a tremendous feeling of being blessed beyond measure. When I was ready to go public, I asked them what to call them…and nothing came. Repeated requests

were met with general statements about the connectivity of all that is. They would say that we are all aspects of the Creator, a Collective of energy, but still no name was given. I finally asked their permission to call them “The Collective” and I’ll never forget their response: “That is an excellent name, for it is what we are. We are a Collective of energies that have known all of you from the beginning. We are intricately connected to you and you are intricately connected to us. The names have been given in the past for the comfort of human beings. Now is a time when you need to realize you are not really the names you have given yourselves, and we are not really the names you have given us. Our message has a frequency and that frequency will be recognized by those we are here to teach.” In one of the first messages I ever channeled for public consumption, The Collective stated that they were here for the “remembering,” the time that would follow 2012 when the Earth would be fully immersed in 5th-dimensional energy. The time when we, as the human race, would begin to realize more fully who and what we are. That time is obviously now and The Collective is here to help us move into a greater measure of our own divinity. We are being enlivened in this energy to see the contrast in the world around us and begin to make choices that are more in line with the divine aspects of our nature. To remember what we already know as divine beings and begin to transform our world. We’ve been together for a while now, getting to know each other and doing our work. They tell me I’ve always known them and so have you. They came to me, and for me, on that night in 2016, and they have come to you, and for you, as well. The Collective is here to deliver a fresh, powerful, and candid message that empowers each of us to fully become what we have always been — divine. “We are here for the way-showers. The ones who will be ready when the entirety of the human race awakens to who they really are.” — The Collective a KELLY THEBO is a leading channel and spiritual teacher. Reconnecting to our Family of Origin A PLEIADIAN MESSAGE

by Christine Day

Beloved ones, we greet you. You are being sent many greetings from the galactic community that currently exists within your resident Universe. There is an accelerated interaction and activity between many of you and the galactic groups that reside within your Universe. These new expanded energies, which anchored at the end of July from the second repositioning of the sun, have heralded in a new phase, a transition of community on Earth. At the moment the sun repositioned, there was the “opening up” of a telepathic path of connection between Earth and the rest of the Universe. Through this pathway, a new potential has arisen for the fulfillment of a destiny of “sacred communion” to be made manifest throughout the Universe. An aspect of the prophecy of the “New Dawning” is for the recommencement of an active communion to open up and flow between all life force groups in the Universe, including planet Earth. This developed communion is to be birthed now and be supported by those of you who have a destiny to play this role, while simultaneously fulfilling an important aspect of your mission. By you playing this essential role, of reestablishing connection to your neighbors off planet, this destiny of communion within the full universe can be realized. This is the time for you to accelerate your development and to form a more expanded community base between other life force groups in the Universe. Through you consciously re-entering and anchoring this community connection, you can hold this base, a platform for others to follow. FAMILY OF ORIGIN Many of you have already been reunited to your Family of Origin off planet on some level. Now is the time to consciously reach outwards to develop further connections. What is essential for all of you to understand is that no human being originated from planet Earth. Each one of you has originated initially off planet. There may be a distinct inner knowing that you simply feel, see or sense that you have a Family of Origin. You may not have any details of what group you belong to, yet you may be drawn upwards to the stars with a longing within your heart for this reunion. Know that you can trust this feeling of longing within your heart to be authentic. This feeling is the beginning of a quickening within your heart cells and this is the time for reconnection. Your mind might want to dismiss these feelings, however, remember that your mind totally 1 4   W W W. E D G E M A G A Z I N E . N E T

misunderstands all that exists beyond the illusion of your 3rd dimensional world. These fleeting moments of remembering that open up to you, or that contain this deep longing, “a knowing, a sense” that you can’t quite grasp with your consciousness, will grow. These feelings come from the promptings of your heart that you can always trust. These activations come from your own multidimensional Higher Self, designed to gently reunite you to that aspect of coming home to family. This reconnection holds a key factor to your own unfolding to Self. Understand that all is being orchestrated perfectly, in the right timing. You will find that this initial opening of your connection to your Family of Origin will become further active within as you consciously choose to open and engage with your awareness. You can simply bring your consciousness outwards, calling forward your Family of Origin to you. ANCHORING LIGHT This is a time of great import for your planet. Through the energetic acceleration and movement of a conscious reconnection to other arenas of community that exist off planet, your Earth is being energetically launched within the Universe. Your planet is anchoring new forms of light, shifting its multidimensional frequency and being resurrected as it is reorganizing itself. The internal magnetic core of your Earth has been reconfigured to play a vastly different role in readiness to fulfill its full potential within the Universal community. There is a profound movement opening up within its framework, and this new flow is transforming the original framework to carry and fulfill Earth’s multidimensional potential. Many of you have been unearthed — set free of your earthly bonds of illusion throughout this year for the express purpose of assisting in holding an energetic overview within this new brilliance that is free flowing and anchoring on your planet now. Through this latest happening on your planet, you have been moved, aligned deeper into the higher multidimensional realms of expression. You have been given access through your heart to a vast opening of light, which is designed expressly to expand your possibility of a higher communion within the galactic community. The telepathic centers within your brain have undergone transformation in readiness for a deeper ability to communicate within the communion base that is utilized within the Universe. Within this next phase of awakening

are defined energies that support you in a reconnection to your Higher Self. An essential part of your enlightenment process is the deepening reconnection to your Family of Origin off planet. As you access even a glimpse of your Family frequency, you are nourished by the love from your heritage. The cells of your body are fed by the frequency of the love, which is extended to you from them. This is your heritage that you are reconnecting with, an essential, profound piece of your Self that you need now for a completion to who you are. The quality of love that exists between you and your family off planet is what you have been missing in your life. The support you will receive in your day-to-day living through this reconnection is immeasurable. You will find a new peace and stability as you engage within this “knowing.” And each moment you align there is a deepening of this establishment of reconnection. This is the time to open to your full heritage that has always existed within you, one that has never been separated from you on an energetic level. EMBODY LIGHT The activation of your heritage moves you to another level of your multidimensionality, because you begin to re-access your higher level of consciousness associated with your Family. There will be the process of you beginning to anchor an expanded consciousness within the cells of your physical body, so you embody this higher light within you. These aspects of your light become manifest fully within you and within your heart so the advanced Higher Self consciousness becomes active within you. You will carry a natural higher wisdom of understanding and recognition of the sacred truths inherent from your heritage. You will be enabled to reunite to this more profound level of consciousness, utilizing the gifts of your Higher Self that arise from the awakening to your heritage. You begin to be enlivened, and fulfill your mission of radiating outwards to humanity the vast love that is part of your natural makeup. Yes, you have come to have the human experience and to consciously reconnect to the sacred that you are. This is your mission: to resurrect your Self in this lifetime. The ego mind will be supported by the love that you carry through this reconnection to your heritage. Your human aspect will flourish through the love, compassion and patience that will arise through the awakened aspect of your higher consciousness. Remember, it is through the vastness of your heart that you begin to first   see FAMILY OF ORIGIN on p. 16

NEW ADVERTISER SPOTLIGHT

Honu Therapeutic Massage encourages Self-care from the Inside Out BodyMind Coaching & Massage Therapy for Busy Women Christine Tauer, owner of Honu Therapeutic Massage, is a Licensed Massage Therapist and BodyMind Coach. She supports busy, independent women who are constantly exhausted, overwhelmed and always searching for that perfect balance in their life. Over the past decade of practicing massage therapy, Christine has observed one commonality amongst her clientele: Being extremely busy and exhausted seems to be the norm, on top of attending to everyone else’s needs before their own. Her clients return session after session with the same stress and tension, no matter what amount of physical manipulation was applied. This is when it became clear that more support beyond just massage was needed. Christine encourages busy women to put themselves first and provide them with the opportunity to practice self-care, so they can be more present, grounded, and find peace within the “busyness” to live the life they deserve. She does this through BodyMind coaching programs. These programs are designed to help you first identify and then change the patterns to bridge the gap between massage sessions, alleviating or potentially relieving stress and pain in your body. When Christine talks about self-care, she is not referring to bubble baths and luxurious spa treatments. She’s talking about hard work. She is talking about being kind to yourself by getting rid of negative self-talk, creating healthy boundaries, and saying no to things that are just piling up your schedule creating more stress in your life. And most importantly, it’s about allowing yourself to take the time to take care of you in order to be the best version of you. “Massage and bodywork are key to managing stress, but the real relief comes when you learn how to change your daily habits,” Christine says. “It is my hope that participants in my BodyMind coaching programs feel amazing not just on the table during your massage, but witness the positive changes manifesting in your body and life.” As a massage therapist and Bodymind coach, Christine will give you exercises to help you align with what’s truly important to you in your life. She will help guide you to show up for yourself on a daily basis by learning how to love and honor yourself, not just during your massage therapy session but feeling supported and accountable between sessions as well. glimpse the light from Home. As you consciously open up and reach within your heart through your awareness, and consciously choose this reconnection, you will begin to receive energetic threads of light from your Family. These threads begin to interweave and activate a patterning, which personifies your Family essence. These patterns have been lying dormant within the heart cells until the precise moment in time. As you activate this process, an anchor begins to be created from within you to your Home base, which exists off planet. This is to be a gradual process of reconnection, enabling your energetic body to slowly adjust to a changing frequency within you. Each time you consciously activate this process, you will be aligned further within your Family patterning through your heart. Now is your time through a conscious choice action to set in motion another facet of your enlightenment process by re-establishing this connection. We can support as you consciously engage in this reconnection. PROCESS TO ACTIVATE THIS RECONNECTION THROUGH YOUR HEART:

1. Hold your heart with the palms of both hands on your full chest area. Bring your awareness into where your hands connect to the physical body. Feel the warmth, or the pressure of your hands on your body and take a Conscious breath, bringing it like a soft wind, coming into where you are holding with your palms. Note: It is essential to use the Conscious Breath, which is a breath in and out of the mouth. This breath bypasses the ego mind and activates a new cycle within you. 2. Feel, see or sense an opening of fluidity where you are holding the heart. There is a response by the cells of the heart as you bring your awareness and your Conscious Breath within. You may feel, see or sense a change in color, form, temperature or vibration. Bring your awareness into where the change is happening and repeat the breath, bringing your awareness deeper within the space that is opening or responding. 3. Now open up consciously to your Family of Origin by bringing a conscious awareness outwards to them, calling them forward to support you in this reconnection. 4. Use this sound, ASTAHN. This sound begins an activation of a link to your

Family into your heart. Bring the sound into your heart where you are still physically holding the area. As you keep your awareness within your heart, you bring the sound, like an echo within the space. Use the sound many times, and use the Conscious Breath, which is designed to align you deeper within the multidimensional space of your Heart. Feel the echo build. 5. The frequency of your sound is aligning you to your Family of Origin. Your heart cells respond to your sound, opening like a flower to the sun. 6. The patterning begins to be interwoven within your heart and an anchor begins to be established between your heart and your Family. You may not be aware of this happening initially, however keep bringing your awareness into where you feel the shifting within your heart and take one more Conscious Breath within the space. 7. When this opening feels stable (the energy is no longer building), then bring this sound to anchor the established patterning, whether you are aware of it or not. Sound, EEE…TAHN (pronounced EE TARN). Use this sound only three times. You bring it directly within the heart space that you are physically holding. You can work with this process daily. Be committed each time with a renewed focus as you take a “next step” for a more complete reconnection. Be patient with yourself as you begin a new turn on your path. Allow the unfolding of development within your heart. Throughout your day, you need moments of touching your heart with your hand and then take a Conscious Breath to gently continue this reconnection process consciously. Stop, slow down and take a moment to consciously, simply breathe and open your awareness outwards to commune with your Family of Origin as you hold your heart. Let go and allow your unfolding. We witness you. Blessings, The Pleiadians. a CHRISTINE DAY is a leading spiritual teacher, healer, channel and author. What You can Learn about Business Success, Wealth from John E. Fetzer by Jackie Lapin John E. Fetzer found as much joy in his quest for spiritual enrichment as he did in the wealth he acquired building a financial empire that ultimately made him the sole owner of the Detroit Tigers from 1961 to 1983 and put him on Forbes Magazine’s list of 400 richest Americans. And that may be the most valuable lesson that he offers us today. He maintained that these two were not mutually exclusive and, in fact, his connection to a higher consciousness was integral to his success building wealth from the foundation of his radio and TV stations, to his investment in the burgeoning cable television industry and to his culminating acquisition of the Tigers. As related in the new biography John E. Fetzer and the Quest for the New Age, author Brian C. Wilson shows how Fetzer was a forerunner of the New Age Movement, exploring multiple paths to find true “freedom of the spirit” via the insights of emerging spiritual leaders, movements and approaches — Eastern and Western — including Theosophy, Freemasonry, UFOlogy, parapsychology and Buddhism, among others. After reading this revealing book, I believe the conclusions that Fetzer came to during his quest — and personally lived by — provide valuable guidance to anyone seeking to accelerate his or her own business growth and wealth. Here are a few tenets that I think can be gleaned from the John E. Fetzer playbook of success: • “Money is energy,” he often said. For Fetzer, spirituality was a recognition that all is spirit, which he conceptualized as an eternal, conscious energy that, if one were open to it, would inevitably lead one back to the “great central source.” Everything consists of this energy — even money. And if one understands this connection and taps into it psychically, then wealth and success, he believed, were within one’s grasp. This meant to him that money was to be used in the service of good, since business success and wealth could only be spiritually uplifting if used for love and service. Although immensely wealthy, Fetzer and his wife Rhea always lived very frugally, spending most of their lives in a modest home in a middle-class Kalamazoo neighborhood. For Fetzer, wealth was not for self-aggrandizement, which would have embarrassed him, but rather for the pursuit 18

of a spiritual mission in service to the world. John’s approach was to serve first, and then money came back to him. • Fetzer believed in karma, and in resolving karma to reach a higher order of consciousness as one passes through the many lives of one’s soul ascension. Thus, he sought to refrain from selfish, ego-driven actions that would have negative repercussions — not only in this life, but in future lives. John’s approach was to rein in his ego, seek equitable solutions for all, be generous with his workforce and partners, do his best and leave a wake of goodwill. • Fetzer trusted a higher intelligence in guiding him to good business decisions. He meditated, contemplated and sought to gain insights that he felt came directly from source. And when he needed more guidance in plotting his business strategies, he used pendulums, astrology, Tarot cards, and even the Ouija Board. Or, he would

turn to trusted mediums, psychic advisors, dowsers and channelers. He found multiple ways to tap into the infinite intelligence. And he could point to specific situations which paid off handsomely. John trusted the Universe to provide answers, listened to his intuition, and tapped multiple sources for his answers. • Fetzer was still seeking to learn, grow and unravel more of the Universe’s mysteries, even as he approached his ninth decade. He never stopped trying to raise his consciousness. And in order to bring others along to a more advanced state of consciousness, so that they, too, could experience the love, compassion, and spiritual connection that creates abundance and peace, he funded some of the seminal spiritual/paranormal/ scientific research of the ’70s and ’80s, to validate the existence of a higher power that can change our lives vibrationally. John never stopped questing, because it kept

him vital — engaged in life and business. • Fetzer was a believer in “oneness,” that we are all one unified force with the source of creation. So he lived by the “Golden Rule,” because he knew that he was connected to each and every one he encountered. He dealt with people with a fair and even hand. He brought respect to the negotiating table. He was beloved by his players on the Tigers and the employees in his company. John sought the good in all, refrained from gossip or unkind words, treated his employees with love and regard, dealt in good faith and was a positive light wherever he went. • For Fetzer, leaving a legacy for the world was paramount. In the 1980s, when Fetzer was beginning to wind down his business activities and sell off his holdings, including the Detroit Tigers, he used his fortune to endow the organizations that would carry his mission forward, to improve “the human and cosmic condition” through the advancement

of the spiritualized science that he felt was so necessary for global transformation, and to support the programs that facilitate building a spiritual foundation for a more inclusive, loving, peaceful world. The lesson here is to weigh what legacy you can leave for the world - and while it may not be funded by great wealth - it can be the fruits of your time, efforts and gifts from which others can enjoy and prosper in the future. For those who are seeking validation that business success and enlightenment can actually work hand-in-hand, Fetzer’s extraordinary life stands as evidence. a JACKIE LAPIN, author, speaker and publicist, connects conscious leaders with conscious media and speaking opportunities. Everything Dances The Edge Interview with

DONNA MEJIA by Tim Miejan Donna Mejia — performer, choreographer, director — is all about movement. Personally. Collectively. Culturally. Her professional background in studying global dance traditions, and her spiritual path with The Urantia Book, has contributed to the blossoming of a woman who cares deeply about the human condition. She will be the keynote speaker at the 37th annual Women and Spirituality Conference on September 22-23 at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minn. Assistant professor of Theatre and Dance at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Donna Mejia specializes in contemporary dance, traditions of the African and Arab Diaspora, and emerging fusion traditions in Transnational Electronica. This genre provides a rich arena for the study of cultural imperialism, gender representation and electronic/digital globalization. She also is is an authorized instructor of the Brazilian Silvestre Modern Dance Technique and is a lauded representative of this esoteric study of dance after 20 years of practice. Her research over the years has included interests in transnationalism and emerging models of global citizenship, ethics, integrity and cultural appropriation issues in dance fusion and movement transformation, movement training and specialization in yoga, and the dances of Brazil, Mexico, the Caribbean, West Africa, North Africa, Ethiopia, Northern India and American Modern Dance. “I have known Donna as a dancer and scholar,” says Terri Allred, MTS, producer of the Women and Spirituality Conference. “She is a passionate advocate for women 2 0  W W W. and a thoughtful speaker on the intersectionality of social justice, faith and personal expression. I am thrilled to have her join us this year as the keynote of the Women and Spirituality Conference.” The Women and Spirituality Conference is a multi-faith gathering to celebrate diversity, spiritual experience and healing. It attracts women who are interested in social justice as an expression of their faith, contemplative spiritual practice and exploring different traditions. The weekend events include an opening and closing ceremony, keynote address and six workshop selections from 60 offerings. The conference also includes the following free and open to the public events: an exhibit area with more than 70 merchants,

nonprofits and healers; and a Maker’s Space with opportunities to create art with Teaki Garcia. Donna Mejia took time out of her busy schedule to converse with The Edge about her path in dance, spirituality and the soul.

How does your dance inform your spirituality and vice versa? Donna Mejia: The practice of dance has shifted and evolved in its spiritual contributions to my life over time. In my youth, studying dance forms from all over the globe made my world much bigger ideologically and cultivated an affection/endearment to human cultures beyond my nation-state reference point. To gain proficiency in the dances of cultures

other than one’s own requires humility, thoughtfulness and nuanced observance skills. Contextualizing the movements with cultural study provided the opportunity to “try on” varying world views and value centers. That was profoundly informative for me. It disrupted my arrogance and dignified all members of the human family in my heart. Mid-career I danced in ensembles that provided microcosm opportunities to learn about interpersonal dynamics, ego, collaboration and building enduring relationships. This proved critical in my personal development. Being part of a service-driven team cultivated high standards of excellence. That sense of labor-of-love kind of discipline has served me since. In my early years as a soloist I experienced divorce, illness, racism and workplace toxicity that was like a tidal wave. Dance then became a therapeutic practice that shifted my perspective and provided natural pain management for my ailing body. Dance developed into a study of consciousness, defense patterns, nonverbal intelligence, personal sovereignty, self-worth and healing. As I emerged and healed from those phases of physical illness and heartbreak, dance became a platform for storytelling and actualization of my inner self to the outer world. I discovered I am a humorist, a geek, an ambassador, an intellectualist, a humanist, a warrior, a sensualist, and a bonafide badass through my choreographic experiments. Audiences have been so incredibly generous with me, and every time I think it’s time to slow down or bow out, they inspire me to keep finding new things to explore as an artist. I’ll be 50 years old this year and never imagined I’d have patrons of all ages, nationalities, and lifepaths as part of my creative and spiritual family. At all times in my life, I observed my involvement in dance to be a methodical and organizing practice for the intellect, emotions and physical body, exponentially increasing the harmony between them with reliability.

I understand you are a Urantian scholar. Please tell us more about how your faith influences your life. I do identify myself to be a student, researcher and interrogator of The Urantia Book. I consider myself too new to the material to qualify as a scholar, but I do utilize my training as an academic to study the material. This 2,000+ page, compiled text intrigues me and challenges my thinking. I departed the Catholic Church in 1987 and devoted myself to non-denominational study of Source. The Urantia Book was introduced to me through the colorful writings of a

brilliant free spirit: Timothy Wylie. There are many thrilling passages that make my heart and mind soar with inspiration and resonant truth. Conversely, there are a handful of segments that are cringe-worthy, incongruent and fallible/potentially corrupted as any other historical spiritual and religious text. It mirrors the complexity of our human family, and for that reason I have found it a worthy document to study. I am fortunate to be in conversation with an outstanding study group of scholars, philosophical heavyweights and long-time investigators who also approach the text and its conflicted social history with healthy doses of critical thinking and radical honesty. The venerable Urantian scholar Merritt Horn directs the study group. I observe that the best teachers in life give you appropriate prompts and tools to do your own problem solving, and this book does exactly that. My spirituality is primary in all that I do, think, create, practice and say. I rely on spirituality to enhance my understanding of life’s conundrums and situate my sense of self within those unfoldings. I know that I am “directed and protected” at all times. I am exceedingly clear that all I’ve encountered in life has evolved me, and it is in my best interest to welcome all the good, bad and weirdness that comes my way with courage and directness. I am grateful to have learned that taking responsibility for the weirdness I project onto others is the most expeditious way to open healing possibilities. Most importantly, I now understand that mutuality and consent is important in both spiritual fellowship and spiritual ministry: brave and sincere choices espouse humility, actively seek paths to forgiveness, learn from life and others, and to love originates within someone’s deepest self. It is not dependent on age, traverse boundaries that divide us

such as socio-economic standing, gender expression, educational endowment, or lifestyle choices. Engaging spirituality through The Urantia Book, meditation, fellowship, dance — or any other spiritual practice — is utterly and intimately personal, an act of freewill collaboration with the Source within us. I treasure that gift of freewill as an educator, scholar and artist.

What will you be speaking about for your Keynote Address at the Women and Spirituality Conference? I will be speaking about my adventures and bumbles as a feminist scholar, instructor and performer of movement, culture and the human condition. I’m excited to share what I researched about the role of women in public spirituality in the Neolitic era (4,000 – 7,000 B.C.E), and how that impacts our current standing in public religious life. We’re going to be opening up the proverbial “can of worms.” I also have some very provocative discussion items to share from my studies of The Urantia Book. I’m hopeful that people will bring their curiosity and a gratuitous sense of humor to the talk! What is the unique role of spirituality in the lives of women? Well…I have an untested theoretical musing about that. I believe all humans receive an invitation to a spiritually insightful and enriching experience in their life, but not all respond affirmatively. I assert that women’s monthly experiences of menstruation have a curious side-benefit for many: women learn to stratify and layer their consciousness, bifurcating into at least two streams of continuous thought. We have the spotlight of consciousness focused on our social functioning in the outer world while also monitoring the sensations, menarche and related symptoms of our internal bodies.   see EVERYTHING DANCES on p. 22 S E P T E M B E R 2018

EVERYTHING DANCES

continued from p.21

It is a rhythmic biological process that produces a monthly practice in subtle awareness. So I do believe that we have the frequent, prompted biological opportunity to practice nuanced internal awareness at a younger age than many males. But really, I concede that I had to find some way of framing menstruation positively. It was always a painful drag for me! Through that shock and awe, I noted a heightening of my dreams and intuition during menstruation, and began to think of it as a spiritual practice to avoid the victimization and antagonistic rage against my own body that pain induced. I had to find a way to make it productive. I would be lying if as an mature, post-menopausal woman, I didn’t admit how joyous I am to have completed that phase of life! Our society truly forces women to “invisible-ize” that important part of their life by maintaining the status quo each month — and that felt unjust to me. Ultimately, spiritual work feels very androgynous to me. The kind of work I do within my inner realms does not feel gendered. However, the ways in which it is actualized on this planet and read by others seems strongly stamped by the social coding of gender. One of my deepest yearnings is to see that biased lens deconstructed on a mass scale within my lifetime. I favor the movement to create genderless pronouns and now refuse to define attributes of personality as either masculine or feminine (i.e., strength, caring, courageousness, nurturing, etc.).

You travel around the world teaching dance. How do you think dance unites and distinguishes us? Dance is a ubiquitous practice found amongst all human cultures (and some classes of animals, too)! There may exist legal or hegemonic practices aimed to limit the public expression of dance, but that doesn’t effectively stop people from doing it privately. I define dance rather expansively as meaningful, patterned movement. It seems that dance has intrinsic value to the great majority of humans, and is utilized in a range of traditions throughout the globe: classical and contemporary, urban and rural, secular and transcendental, performance-based and therapeutically oriented. If we look deeper into its social applications, we observe dance to be regarded by many global traditions as a natural emanation of human expression — no different or less important than the spoken word — crucial in work, celebration, religious observation, secular or sacred initiation, military defense, reconciliation in quarrels, rites of passage, healing for individuals 2 2  W W W. E D G E M A G A Z I N E . N E T

and society, and direct connection to the esoteric and divine realms of existence. Dance does not necessarily need to be performed for others, or on a proscenium stage, to be a worthy endeavor and meaningful act. In this way, we are united as a human family by our connection to movement. Dance distinguishes us from each other in how we all crave to move through the world in our own way, and for tremendously varied reasons. Personally, dance is the dominating language of my neurology and temperament. Movement is the resolving punctuation of an internal, tidal cascade of sensations, thoughts and energetic impulses. I have not found another way to process these personal variables with the same effectiveness, and would explode if I could not move! Conversely, silence and stillness are equal in spiritual value to movement, and I’ve grown to appreciate that balance as a spiritual practice. For me, silence and stillness are not empty. They are charged with crucial information. Everything dances.

How does the process of dance connect individuals to the Universe? There are many different perspectives/ answers on that beautiful question. There are so many movement paths to explore our connection to something larger than ourselves. In the Yoruba tradition, the ceremonial dancer builds a charge of energy until they become a virtual vortex; a doorway to parallel realities and a conveyer of counsel from other realms. Contemplative movement traditions such as Tai Chi utilize movement like a stream, or flow of beneficial forces that we consciously step into for balance. Repetitious movements accompanied by chants or rhythm alter and expand the consciousness of humans by synchronizing brainwaves between the hemispheres. Electronic music dance events provide participants a sense of mutual experience, taking them out of their individuation and social isolation into a communal bond that is profoundly powerful. Contact Improvisational Dance practitioners report a quickening of consciousness that endows the practitioner with sensorial intelligence and radical honesty; a ‘flow’ state that transcends social filters and encircuits movers in an act of intimacy that is nourishing and asexual. Dance endures as a tool for expanded consciousness because it leverages our most looming question of being human: how do we navigate being conscious and self-aware while also negotiating embodiment? Dance provides us an arena for formulating positive association with embodiment beyond the survival issues

of nourishment, sleep, physical affection, and aging. When we relinquish our social anxieties, dance gifts us the experience of thriving in our non-verbal intelligences, and we realize we are so much more than we assumed.

In theater onstage, what do live dancing performances offer the viewer that they cannot get from the written word, or even video? I’ll bounce back to The Urantia Book to answer your great question. The book offers a new vocabulary term to us, Mota: • 103:6.7 (1136.2) Mota is a supermaterial reality sensitivity which is beginning to compensate incomplete growth, having for its substance knowledge-reason and for its essence faith-insight. • 103:7.13 (1139.5) Reason is the act of recognizing the conclusions of consciousness with regard to the experience in and with the physical world of energy and matter. Faith is the act of recognizing the validity of spiritual consciousness — something which is incapable of other mortal proof. Logic is the synthetic truth-seeking progression of the unity of faith and reason and is founded on the constitutive mind endowments of mortal beings, the innate recognition of things, meanings, and values. • 5:4.4 (67.2) The domains of philosophy and art intervene between the nonreligious and the religious activities of the human self. Through art and philosophy the material-minded man is inveigled into the contemplation of the spiritual realities and universe values of eternal meanings. When I observe someone move in the light of their inner truth (whether choreographed or improvised), I am honored to get myself out of their way and let that experience be holy ground or sanctuary for them. That poetic movement stirs a buoyancy in the heart that defies language. It transcends dogma. It injects a sacredness into the moment that commands breath and attention…and even tears. Perhaps we can liken it to the Spanish term duende? The Ontario Arts Council captured this essence stunningly in their 2013 viral video: www. youtube.com/watch?v=NW8qUKxQiQU. What do women who study dance learn about their souls? With humility, I can only respond by sharing what this woman has learned by dancing: We are imperfect, asymmetrical, flawed and utterly beautiful. We can manage more than we estimate. We are growing and evolving, each contributing something inherently valuable to the larger fabric of creation and Source in unseen ways. Embodiment is not a hindrance to spiritual or intellectual growth. It can be harnessed as a tool to catapult growth and

coherence when not vilified religiously or ideologically. The body is incapable of untruth, and provides the most honest reflection one could hope for in a life companion on this journey.

How has dance changed the consciousness of women you have mentored? I cannot answer for them, but a surprising percentage of them have gone on to life-work in therapeutic and healing practices: physical therapy, yoga therapy, conscious and wholesome sex work, advocation for under-served population, tremendous art-making, nursing, food justice, social justice work and more than I could have ever imagined. I have deep admiration for my former students, and regard myself as blessed to vicariously benefit from their ongoing explorations. They really keep me young at heart. Here’s a quote from one of my blog articles about being a teacher: “If serving as a teacher of dance, be generous in spirit. If you are not emotionally prepared for one (or many) of your students to eclipse you in stature or financial reward, then please get out of teaching. Remember that you are not responsible for all of your students’ blockages or challenges, nor can you take credit for their personal successes. Teachers are guides who point the way forward. If done well, students will always be grateful and teachers receive the respect that gratifies and dignifies all of the effort.” (Excerpted from “It’s Not Just a Dance,” read this at: Donnainthedance.com/2015/01/28/itsnot-just-a-dance/)

How does dance and movement arts contribute to elevate the social consciousness of culture? Dance shows us how unproductive shame is. In my view, it will be a beautiful day when we stop trying to motivate social cohesion through fear, conformation and shame. Dance is frequently misused as a tool of this social shaming, and many people tell me they know they “are bad dancers” and wouldn’t wish to be seen dancing in public without getting some classes or training! No. May I please challenge that right here?! I personally refuse to let dance be fashioned into a hegemonic tool for social shaming. Worry less about what the body looks like, and affirm what it can do. Take good care of it, not to achieve a certain look, but

rather to fully actualize all of the creativity that wells up within. Aligning oneself with popular notions of what is alluring is a losing game with no finish line. Contrary to popular sentiment, dance is not about beauty. May I please share a quote from dancer/ anthropologist Pearl Primus here? “People who truly dance have never bartered the fierce freedom of their souls, never strangled their hunger for rhythmic movement, nor frustrated their joyous physical response to music and song.” Dance gifts us ourselves draped in sweat, wrapped in joy, drenched in communal connection, lavished in the euphoria of music, rhythm or silence, clarified and renewed from the inside out. Our spirits swell to the surface and we breath and surge into our next moment of living with greater clarity. That seems a worthy endeavor to revisit on occasion. Those are the kind of people I crave to be around, so please elevate me to where those folks are! Thank you for great questions, and thank you to your readers for taking the time to read the thoughts I’ve shared. May you have many nights of fierce and rapturous dance in your lives. Worry less about what the body looks like, and affirm what it can do. Take good care of it, not to achieve a certain look, but rather to fully actualize all of the creativity that wells up within. Aligning oneself with popular notions of what is alluring is a losing game with no finish line. Contrary to popular sentiment, dance is not about beauty. a

OUR FEATURED TOPIC: ONENESS

The Unitive Experience: How to Embrace It by Christina Donnell, Ph.D. There is an unseemly coarseness and tumult to our times that robs the grace from the fabric of our interrelatedness. At first, it sounds completely naïve to suggest that now might be the time to embark on the ancient journey from separation to union, the journey from our own Self back to a state of Oneness. Yet, that is exactly the claim that this article explores. It is a call to a deeper spiritual consciousness by which awareness becomes”‘centerless” and the dichotomy of I-Other is transcended. Much of what is noisy about our times is we are beholden to surface reality: Facebook, Twitter, news feeds, texting, busy daily life. Abandoning the surface of things takes something more than curiosity or a need for depth or solitude — it is to risk being moved: moved from the person we were to the person we may become. The development of the unitive experience (or nondual awareness) requires us to abandon surface impressions and patterns, to abandon what has become comfortable

and to embrace a depth of being that asks us to enter that which is wholly unknown — the depths and dimensions of silence. Silence was here before anything else, and it resides inside and around all things. It is the most primary phenomenon in existence and the home of union. Our body has an innate capacity for experiencing union. There is a palpable silence that is a substance — textured and layered, permeating every cell of our body. As we enter the mystery of silence, its presence resonates throughout the fibers of our flesh, extending inwardly, and is connected to the same silence of the cosmos outwardly. Our body is the necessary meeting point where the inward stillness meets up with the immense silence of the cosmos, and the unitive experience is born. Upon entering the great layers and folds of silence, the infinite appears on its own accord inside the body and consciousness of it may be stabilized, enriched and defined. When we find the entry into this vast stillness, our lives are irrevocably changed, and a monu-

mental transition takes place. I consider the emergence of nondual awareness an organic development. It is an interior process, disclosing what is already present inside us, rather than setting out on a path looking for something new. There is only attention and its awakening. New capacities emerge by developing dimensions of attention that go beyond our usual awareness. Silence must be entered, and one must deeply participate. Participation in the silence is the remaking of consciousness. From here the body’s innate perceptual gift emerges. So, if we are going to explore unity consciousness, we simply can’t leave out the medium in which union emerges. Silence is its medium, just as the painter’s medium is color and the musician’s medium is sound. In the development of unity consciousness, the medium is silence, and it is a reservoir to which we may endlessly return. Here, we are privileged to drink as often and deeply as we desire. Until you have tasted the degree of this inner fulfillment, you hardly dare dream that it is possible. This fulfillment gets deeper and deeper, more and more complete; and you know, with a certainty that is born of experience. We can slip into unity consciousness with the same ease as we slip into the seamless embrace of water. Something very ancient, eternal within us, already trusts that this embrace will hold us. The source of these waters is stamped in the very core our being. a CHRISTINA DONNELL, Ph.D., is director of the Winds of Change Association, an educational organization dedicated to offering programs that tend our evolving consciousness. Christina is a natural born, pragmatic mystic, spiritual teacher and public speaker. She is the author of the award-winning book, Transcendent Dreaming: Stepping Into Our Human Potential. Doorway to Unity SPIRIT LEAVES

by Janet Michele Red Feather One consciousness flows through all of creation. Older souls know this as they awaken presently to truths long held by indigenous people. As an example, when the Mandans pray, they end with “Numak k ki ama wa” (“All my Relatives”). That phrase affirms all life as interconnected, a tapestry of sacred strands. Souls are cast into human existence to learn and grow. All around us are illustrations of what is natural and true. Rivers flow to the sea. Tree branches stretch toward infinite sky. Lovers strive to merge with one another. All that has been created evolves back to the Creator. We begin as baby souls, needing outward supports to sustain us. As we grow and evolve, our souls sense the connection with a larger energy and there is no longer a sense of being “apart from” anything. NO US AND THEM Nothing is truly separate. Even those we consider very different from ourselves are kin. Cedric reminds me: “There’s no ‘us’ and ‘them.’” What he means is that separation is an illusion created and perpetuated by human beings, one that does not serve our higher interests. The truth

is that there is no good and evil; there is only, as Cedric wisely states, “wisdom and ignorance.” We judge others, creating drama and conflict. If we continue to divide the world into false polarities — good and evil, right and wrong, advanced and inferior — we will not be ready to move beyond the thirddimensional consciousness. Meditation fosters and facilitates a connection with our Higher Selves, always eager to remind us (when we’re willing to listen) that it does not matter a whit whether we are superior or advanced. What matters in this incarnation is how much love and compassion we evince for others. That is what is means to be wise and of the light. People are beginning to embrace their authentic selves more, and the overall tenor of the planet is gradually becoming more benevolent. AN EXCITING TIME Consciousness is evolving. We are approaching the outward boundary of an old energy. This is an exciting time for human beings. The idea of oneness was, for a long time, scary to the ego, which stubbornly attempted to cling to outworn forms that no longer served it. Our culture of rules, regulations, licenses and religious dogma has, for the most   see UNITY on p. 29

Oneness with Donald Trump by Amanda Rangel Here is a bold statement I heard once: “If you are triggered by Trump, you are living in the concept of Oneness.” Because of fear of being stoned by the collective consciousness mob, there are very few saying the words “Trump” and “Oneness” in the same sentence these days. But for hardcore people who want to grow, here it goes: If Trump triggers you, you very likely have parts within you that need connecting. This statement is often met with much resistance, especially from those who identify as “spiritual.” The solution for many would be to bring more awareness to a thing called compartmentalization. Compartmentalization is when parts of your life are connected to source and flowing (cue butterflies, rainbows and namastés), while others are not. One part within yourself, such as “meditator,” may not have been introduced to another part within yourself perhaps called “activist.” People have the tendency to compartmentalize many things, such as work, home life, spirituality, family, friends, certain humor, and even happiness. What can be compartmentalized is really limitless. The downfall for those who aim to experience a life with Oneness is that Oneness cannot exist where things are compartmentalized. I regularly have the chance to speak to someone who is permanently free of the ego. He shared this beautiful insight about living in Oneness: “Resistance to anything external is compartmentalization and is suffering. There is no suffering in Oneness.” This led me to a deep contemplation and personal challenge, where many individual things started to click. Every time I felt an inkling of pressure in my chest, I immediately brought awareness to it. I started to breathe more consciously and just a little deeper. I felt the burning that was there. I continued to bring awareness to the thoughts that were in my proximity, the past experiences I had that caused this emotional response. I dug deep to connect every single program, habit and idea that tried to separate me from my Higher Self. I became a relentless resistance hunter. Here is the deal. It was intense! This process of momentby-moment inner integrity and authenticity is not for the meek who are trying on the hat of “spiritual seeker” as a part-time hobby. For those of you who want to give it a try, I lovingly propose this. Next time someone says the name “Trump,” go inward, go directly to the feeling in your chest. Breathe into it. Relax into it. Ask your Higher Self to show you what is it about “Trump,” or the vision of his face, that causes this feeling internally. If your first response is “well he…” or “how could someone like him…” or “this is bullshit,” go into that. Ask to be shown what is behind that. Ask for light to connect that. 26

Anger needs to be loved. Resistance needs to be connected. Did you know there is a community of people that is consciously sending love to anger, showering resistance with Divine Presence, right here in the Midwest? Not externally, but internally. Not as a loopy spiritual concept, but as a deeply internal burning of the heart center. Burning off the things that humanity as a whole cannot handle. The fact of the matter is this; Donald Trump came into presidency at exactly the perfect time to be a teacher, to show the world things that need to be connected. Not in the external world, but in the internal world. How do I know this to be true? Because it is happening and it is the “what is.” External divisiveness will not exist once the internal compartmentalization is healed. Oneness is de-compartmentalization. Divine Grace can flow unrestricted when all parts of your life are aware of each other. Awareness allows for the walls of separateness and compartmentalization to be dissolved. This is when true Oneness can move from a concept to an experience. a AMANDA RANGEL cofounded IntraAwareness, a Holistic Lifestyle Training System™ that coaches clients from where they are at, to where they want to be, in every area of life. Steps to Oneness with All by Jerome Buchmeier, Ph.D.

to discover our oneness, and what it is that we are to do, granted our experience of oneness. How is it that we are to take this experience, abstruse and surreal as it may seem, and bring it into manifestation? So this is our next step in this process — to manifest at our primary level of consciousness the oneness which we know and have experienced coming into our awareness, and now into manifestation in our lives. The third step is up to each one of us individually and together. And so I put this mantle of opportunity and possibility and infinity, and in some sense even responsibility, upon each of your shoulders: a mantle of empowerment, blessing and grace that we each can share with all of our inner parts, and all beings with whom we connect. We are complete.

This is a meditative process for experiencing our oneness led by the ascended master Yeshua (Jesus), through my body as a channel. Yeshua is addressing a small group of physical humans, and a large, radically diverse group of beings of many species, dimensions, orientations, places and times. The “fallen” or “descended” he refers to are beings we label as demons.

YESHUA: Dearly beloved, I speak as one of you, as one among you, and as one risen from among you. The rising that I have done, the ascension that I have completed, and am completing as you each ascend — this is what we do together. What we will do first of all is connect to the true divine aspect within us. This is not simply transformative for the few or the fallen. This process is equally transformative for the incarnated and for the ascended. We do this together seeking our own universal transformation, wherein no one is in any way superior or ahead of anyone else who is here. There are no saviors here. Are there even teachers here? Not really. Only co-experiencers, co-searchers, and co-observers in awe, with growing awareness of the reality of our oneness. First we relax. We move into our own silent space, allowing only a vague, maybe even distant awareness of all the other beings who are assembled here with us. We turn inward to the place of greatest silence, greatest peace, and we rest there. Now discover even further the silence, the quiet, the serenity. There is a thread that ties yourself together, deeper ever deeper, and in the deepest place of silence within us, the thread that ties us together is the Source, the Source of our true oneness, the Unnameable, that which is beyond, that which exudes the stuff of which we are made. And from our touching into this deepest part of ourselves, we touch into our own understanding and expression of love and oneness with all the beings of the universe. And this is the source of our transformation. All the hidden aspects of ourselves that we seek to set aside or hide are now enfolded into our loving oneness. The silence, the calmness, the serenity creates the interconnections — the Divine-MotherOneness, who awakens within us our ability to externalize the profundity of that loving oneness, as it blossoms into the awareness of our present consciousness. And our present consciousness, then, can observe the unfolding of that transformation, transition of our external bodies, and brains,

and souls and spirits in every one of us, ascended, incarnate, descended, or other. We all do this same process, though it may appear externally to be so different. We each allow ourselves to feel, feel at many levels from the most serene to the most superficial. We allow ourselves to feel this transformation taking place. And now we allow ourselves to feel, perceive, see, touch into our communal sense of this entire assemblage, our oneness with beings of every level, every dimension, every size, every shape, every culture, every language, every solar system, galaxy, universe. We all are one in the foundational divinity which connects us beyond the comprehension of any of us, beyond the summation of all of us. So we are here and now, and there is no more, no more than that. All is here and now. All is one. That is our first process. In a sense, it’s the whole process. But here we are, as finite expressions of the infinite. Our next step as finite beings together, I suggest, could be that we open our eyes and look around, that we come into full presence and possession of whatever levels of dimensions of bodies that we consider our primary at this time, that we become aware of this entire assembly of beings, opening our hearts consciously again at whatever dimension we identify with primarily. And we open our hearts to all the beings who are assembled here, all beings of so many varieties, shapes, dimensions, universes, galaxies, solar systems and planets, countries or cultures, cities or rural communities, or even individualized sanctified caves of isolation. Yet, we are all here together. We are here

SONORA, FROM UNIVERSE X15: I didn’t even know that there were other universes until I arrived. So I am taken aback, for I thought I was the God Creator of my universe, and now I discover I am one among many, and there is an infinity beyond my infinity. I am in total awe, in shock, and delight. Such a discovery is more than I have ever imagined. I began my process lonely, as you speak also of your own God or gods. I filled my existence with mirrored entities of free will and intelligence to create shared love, as have you also your own gods. In my universe, there has been no shadow, no fall, no resistance, only love and oneness. There is so much for me to learn. That’s all I have to say. HASHMAZRIEL, AN ANGEL OF THE LIGHT: As we all just experienced, I am within each of you, and you each are within me. I hold each of you as most precious and I am awestruck at the beauty and infinite value so apparent in this present moment. What I thought of before as heaven has now expanded to depths and lengths I have not seen as possible. I feel like the curtain has been drawn back, and what I thought was everything were simply the stage and now I see the auditorium. Oneness is the Reality, Multiplicity is the Concept by Eric Putkonen Oneness is not a concept. Duality and multiplicity are concepts. The reality is that there is no separation or otherness. “Why don’t I see or realize this,” one might ask. Simply, it is ignorance and misunderstanding. Oneness is not recognized because it is unknown. How many trees do you see in the picture above? You might say that you see hundreds of trees. This would be ignorance and misunderstanding of what you see. This is a picture of the Pando in Utah. The Pando is a clonal colony of an individual male quaking aspen. It was determined to be a single living organism by finding identical genetic markers and is assumed to have one massive underground root system. This plant is one of the largest organisms in the world and one of the oldest known living organisms (by the age of the root structure). In a way, think of it as one tree with the trunk underground and the branches sticking up. This is a more modern discovery (via genetics), but without this knowledge,

anyone looking at this forest would say there are thousands of trees over this 100-acre area. Some are taller than others. Some have more green leaves than others. Some may have bugs infesting them and appear to be dying while others appear quite healthy. Unknown to them is that they are looking at one tree. The variety of conditions of the “various” trees would be apparent, and yet it is really only one organism. Variation does not equal otherness or separation. It is the same with Oneness, as well. We see all these different people and beings (animals and plants), but what is not seen is how they are all One. In India, this teaching is known as advaita, which translates to not-dual. In the West, we know it as nonduality. Nonduality (or Oneness) is realized when the illusion of duality is seen through and the misunderstanding of otherness and separation is dispelled. The fundamental division is “me” and “other.” To help realize nonduality or Oneness, I often recommend self-examination. This is a contemplation and observation focused on questioning this “I” we

think and feel we are. The purpose is to shake up our identification and loosen our attachments to who we think we are — basically, to clearly see who or what we are not. It is a process of demolition for our identities. Self-examination will not lead to realizing nonduality or Oneness. Self-examination is merely questioning and doubting the duality and multiplicity that is seen and taken for reality. Self-examination simply weakens the illusion of duality — of “me” and “other.” This is often helpful if one is very attached to the idea that he or she is an individual entity. Also, if one really wants to practice or do something, then examine the “me.” However, I also recommend just being still and being silent. Don’t do anything. If you notice you are doing something, cease doing it. We do a lot of things and this includes even subtle levels of identification and manipulation. Cease identifying and cease manipulating. Just be still and silent. This is the direct path to Oneness and nonduality. You are not allowed to go anywhere or do anything. Just be silent and still. This may not be easy, but a pointer to help is to attend to or stay with the experiencing of the moment. We have no choice to be aware or not aware when conscious. When conscious, the ears hear. If a dog is barking, we can’t choose not to hear it. However, we can cease all activity around being aware. We can not label it, not judge it, not critique upon it, not commentate on it, etc. If you are 100 percent devoted to the feelings and experiencing of the here and now, you might find thought slows or ceases. In that silence of mind, the inner silence and stillness is easier to notice. Abide in the silence and stillness. In that silence of mind, the revelation of Oneness may occur. a ERIC PUTKONEN started his spiritual journey in 1990. He focuses on nonduality and living awake and engaged. part, kept us dependent on controlling leaders and false teachers. We come from an infinite source, yet the material and religious culture has long required that we dress ourselves in garments of limitation. Soon, many will realize that we do not need gurus, intermediaries, dogma or ritual to connect with a larger energy field. NO DIVISION Our bodies are not separate from our minds; our souls are not separate from their temples. There is likewise no division between past and future; all time is present to us as the eternal now. Moment by moment we can grow, we can reinvent ourselves, and we can rejuvenate. If the All is perceived in truth for the unity that it essentially is, we would obviate all suffering and live fully in the present moment. It is, the words of T.S. Eliot, “a white light still and moving.” All it takes is just a few moments every day to stop and connect with Oneness. We have time for retail therapy. We find time to meet for coffee. We enjoy leisure
