António Moura Presidente do Evento Event’s President Este ano de 2017 celebramos a nossa 15ª edição do Atlantic Tour onde fica bem evidenciado a força e a importância para o Algarve e Portugal deste evento equestre que se tornou o 3º evento maior da Europa e o maior de Portugal. No ano de 2016, no Ranking da FEI, Vilamoura subiu ao pódio (3º lugar) como a pista onde maior numero de percursos realizados no Continente Europeu. Este é um sinal claro da afirmação de Vilamoura como destino equestre europeu. Confirmando todo este crescente interesse por Vilamoura nesta 15ª Edição iremos bater todos os records de cavaleiros e cavalos presentes. Para esta situação muito contribuiu o apoio que tivemos por parte dos nossos Sponsors ao apostar em 5 Csi3* com o consequente aumento do Prize Money. Vimos também ser compensado todo este esforço por parte da FEI ao nomear 2 Grandes Prémios deste Tour como qualificativos para o Campeonato da Europa 2017 e Jogos Equestres Mundiais 2018. A nossa aposta continuará no sentido de melhorar também as nossas infraestruturas pois cada vez é maior a nossa responsabilidade a assim também acompanhar o grande desenvolvimento projetado para Vilamoura 2030.
Agradeço a todas as Entidades que nos têm apoiado e acreditado neste Projeto equestre em Vilamoura. Em meu nome e de toda a minha Equipa extraordinária que tenho o privilégio de estar comigo, quero desejar a todos que possam continuar a disfrutar de grandes momentos desta paixão que nos une e nos faz felizes This year we are celebrating our 15th edition of the Atlantic Tour where it is well evidenced the strength and importance for the Algarve and Portugal of this equestrian event becoming the 3rd largest show jumping event in Europe and the largest in Portugal. In 2016, at the FEI Ranking, Vilamoura has moved up to the 3rd position of the podium as the show with the greatest number of courses in the European Continent. This is a clear sign of Vilamoura’s claim as an European equestrian destination. Confirming all this growing interest for Vilamoura in this 15th edition we will beat all our records in terms of numbers of riders and horses during the Atlantic Tour.
In order to make this possible we could not forget the support we have had from our Sponsors that contributed for the increasing of prize-money so we could include 5 CSI3* in the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017 schedule. However all this effort has been also recognized by the FEI nominating two of this Tour Grand Prix as qualifiers for the European Championships 2017 and World Equestrian Games 2018. Our commitment will be to improve our infrastructure as our responsibility is increasing and we are also following the great development designed for Vilamoura 2030. I want to thank all Public and Private Entities that have been supporting us and that have believed in this Equestrian Project in Vilamoura since the very first day. Moreover, I could also never forget the Owners and Riders who are our greatest support of this event, the confidence and the affection that you have always shown to us it is something that motivates us every day to keep on improving. In my name and in the name of my great team that I have the privilege to work alongside for all these years, I wish we will have again great moments in this 15th edition sharing this passion that unites us and makes us happy. Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017 Bem se pode afirmar que Vilamoura e Hipismo começam a tornar-se duas realidades quase inseparáveis a nível nacional. A verdade é que a procura de Vilamoura e do seu Centro Equestre pelas equipas hípicas de renome internacional tem tido correspondência na capacidade que aquelas aqui encontram para organizar grandes eventos, de que o Atlantic Tour 2017 é efetivamente um ótimo exemplo. Para além das inegáveis mais-valias que tais eventos representam para a atividade turística, o Hipismo, a par do Golfe, tornou-se numa modalidade que concorre para o combate à sazonalidade de que tanto se fala e que só com iniciativa, com novas dinâmicas e com a oferta de condições a vários níveis pode vir a ter êxito. Por conseguinte quero, nesta curta mensagem, reafirmar que a Câmara Municipal de Loulé acolhe com muito entusiamo este prestigiado concurso de projeção internacional, felicitando a organização por mais uma vez ter conseguido reunir grandes nomes do Hipismo numa prova que se espera venha a atingir um alto nível competitivo. Por fim, gostava de deixar expresso que Vilamoura continua a ser um destino ímpar para
a realização de eventos desportivos pela abertura que para as mesmas tem demonstrado, pelas condições naturais que a caracterizam e por criar condições de atratividade para as famílias que acompanham os participantes. Neste caso estamos a falar de uma previsão de termos entre nós, durante mais de um mês e meio, cerca de 300 participantes, num total de mais de 15 mil pessoas, que seguramente em muito irão contribuir para bons resultados da nossa hotelaria e restauração. Expresso, pois, os meus votos de muito sucesso para o Vilamoura Atlantic Tour na realização da sua 15.ª edição. Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017 Well, it can be affirmed that Vilamoura and Equestrian begin to become two realities almost inseparable at national level. The truth is that the demand for Vilamoura and its Equestrian Center for internationally renowned equestrian teams has been matched by their ability to organize great events, of which the Atlantic Tour 2017 is indeed a great example. In addition to the undeniable value added that these events represent for the tourist activity, the Equestrian, along with the Golf,
has become a modality that contests to combat the seasonality of which so much is spoken and that only with initiative, with new dynamics and the supply of conditions at various levels can be successful. Therefore, in this short message, I would like to reaffirm that the Town Hall of Loulé welcomes with great enthusiasm this prestigious international projection competition, congratulating the organization for once again having managed to gather great names of the Equestrian in a race that is expected to reach a high competitive level. Finally, I would like to express that Vilamoura continues to be a unique destination for sports events because of the openness it has shown, the natural conditions that characterize it and for creating attractive conditions for the families that accompany the participants. In this case, we are talking about a forecast of terms between us, for more than a month and a half, about 300 participants, a total of more than 15 thousand people, that surely will greatly contribute to good results of our hotel and catering. Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017 É com renovado entusiamo que a Região de Turismo do Algarve se associa ao Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017, hoje unanimemente considerado um dos maiores eventos do calendário equestre internacional na modalidade de saltos de obstáculos. Mais uma vez, o Centro Hípico de Vilamoura, um verdadeiro ex-libris ao nível da qualidade das suas instalações, traz ao Algarve os melhores cavaleiros do mundo. Durante seis semanas, entre 14 de fevereiro e 2 de abril, muitas centenas de pessoas ligadas à modalidade, entre cavaleiros, acompanhantes, tratadores, veterinários, membros dos júris e responsáveis da organização, usufruirão da tradicional hospitalidade de Vilamoura e das gentes algarvias. Para o Algarve, é um orgulho receber um evento desta qualidade e grandeza. Um belo cartão-de-visita do melhor que a região tem para oferecer a quantos nos visitam. O Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017, a exemplo das edições anteriores, terá seguramente um impacto económico significativo na região. Once again, the Vilamoura Equestrian Center, a true ex-libris in terms of the qua-
lity of your facilities, brings Algarve to the best riders in the world. During six weeks, between February 14 and April 2, a lot of people including riders, escorts, caretakers, veterinarians, members of the jury and staff, will enjoy the traditional hospitality of Vilamoura and the Algarve population. For the Algarve, it is a pride to receive an event of this quality and grandeur. A beautiful business card of the best that the region has to offer to those who visit us. The Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 2017, like the previous editions, will surely have a significant economic impact in the region, with the addition of being an event that potentiates a strong impulse for tourism in the low season, allowing all participants to enjoy an always captivating environment, modern infrastructure, gastronomic richness and cultural diversity. Francisco Moura tribute
Nesta edição do Atlantic Tour homenageamos o cavaleiro, mas acima de tudo a pessoa, Francisco Moura. Em sua honra premiaremos o melhor jovem cavaleiro nesta edição de Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 17 "O cavalo ensinou-me a ter medo e a vencer o medo; o cavalo ensinou-me a descontrair perante o meu nervosismo; o cavalo desenvolveu em mim, a noção de prudência e de medida, obrigando-me a tentar acertar a sua passada antes de corrermos o risco do obstáculo; o cavalo ensinou-me a cair e, com ele aprendi, sobretudo, a levantar-me firme na determinação de continuar o percurso, fosse qual fosse a dor e o esforço q ele custasse; no exercício da equitação
aprendi quanto e necessária a firmeza no mando e como esta requer o ser discreto na intervenção e suave no comando. Por tudo isto, a equitação não é apenas um exercício físico pois tanto contribui para formar em nós o habito do auto-domínio, a noção da modéstia das nossas forças e dos nossos conhecimentos, a paixão de corrermos o risco, sempre que possível calculado. Como dizemos na cavalaria, O CAVALO ENSINA-NOS A TER CORAÇAO...! "

Este texto representava para ele toda uma filosofia e um modo de estar no mundo da equitação, e que ele próprio procurava transmitir aos seus alunos, membros da “F.Moura’s Dream Team Academy” VILAMOURA ATLANTIC TOUR 2017
já não dava para mais. É então que herda do seu primo Gonçalo, Lombroso, começando a realizar provas mais altas, inclusive uma prova grande do concurso A de Lisboa com apenas 12 anos! Todos os Verões viaja para Franca onde sob a instrução de José Azevedo e Silva é presença assídua nos concursos de La Baule e Reims, entre outros. Entre 1998 e 2005 participa em seis campeonato de Europa na categoria de póneis, juniores e jovens cavaleiros e participa em mais de dez Taças das Nações com as cores de Portugal. Destaca-se no Campeonato de Europa Juniores em Hagen, na Alemanha, onde pela primeira vez na história do hipismo português faz hastear a bandeira portuguesa ao primeiro lugar do pódio. Montando o fantástico Kunwald de Calvarie, Francisco realiza um
duplo percurso sem faltas e vence a 2ª qualificativa do Europeu, ouvindo-se o hino nacional em solo germânico entre mais de 16 nações e 80 cavaleiros. Um ano antes, mas em terreno nacional, prematuramente participa no campeonato nacional de seniores, prova reservada a cavaleiros com mais de 21 anos, mas Francisco com apenas 17 consegue surpreender. Mais uma vez acompanhado de Kunwald de Calvarie bate-se com os melhores cavaleiros portugueses e consegue obter um excelente resultado, ascendendo ao terceiro lugar do pódio do campeonato de Portugal do cavaleiro de obstáculos. Em 2004 Francisco termina o 12º e entra na universidade no curso de Marketing, mas
Francisco começa desde cedo no meio hípico, ou não faria parte de uma quarta geração de uma família de cavaleiros. Segue as pegadas dos seus ascendentes e por influência do seu pai António frequenta desde os 5 anos a escola de equitação da família Azevedo e Silva. Aos 8 anos faz a sua estreia em Elvas, no centro hípico Elxadai, desde ai foi em crescendo até aos 11 anos, onde faz a sua primeira internacionalização no clube Sek em Madrid, montando o seu inseparável pónei, Sonic, obtendo de pronto excelentes classificações. Já era uma dupla temível na altura, pelas provas cheias de adrenalina e velocidade que disputavam. No entanto, Francisco precisava de voar mais alto e o 1.49m do seu “amigo” VILAMOURA ATLANTIC TOUR 2017

o seu sonho é ser cavaleiro profissional. Os seus pais, Fernanda e António, um pouco contrariados dão-lhe uma oportunidade que ele não desperdiça. Passa por Franca, Bélgica, Holanda, Suíça e Itália aprendendo com os melhores destacando-se Herve Godignon, Gilles Bertrand de Balanda e trabalha ao lado de Steve Guerdat.

No ano de 2007 regressa a Portugal, onde está decidido a construir a sua carreira como cavaleiro profissional e treinador. O ano de 2009 é um ano de êxitos para Francisco: obtém o 1º lugar na Copa Ibérica montando Prestige de Triheree, vence o seu primeiro GP de categoria A no Centro Hípico de Coimbra com Little Rouge, ascende ao 3º lugar do ranking nacional, é ainda membro da equipa nacional do CSIO 5* de Gijon com Undiamo e por fim sagra-se Vice-Campeão nacional, também com Undiamo. Em 2010 vence o GP Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa “Centenário” montando Upsala, com a mesma montada é membro da equipa nacional chefiada por Joerg Muenzner no CSIO 4* de Lisboa onde efectua um magnífico percurso sem faltas.

Como treinador demonstra a mesma habilidade, onde para além do sucesso do seu método de ensino é visível uma amizade forte entre Francisco e os seus alunos. Essa ligação gere os seus frutos, levando vários deles a participações em campeonatos de Europa de juvenis e juniores, para além de ascensões ao pódio em campeonatos nacionais. No fim do ano de 2009 denomina a sua equipa de FMoura’s Dream Team, apostando na formação e no desenvolvimento de um projecto para jovens talentos do hipismo português.

Ao longo destes 26 anos Francisco destacou-se principalmente pelo seu talento como cavaleiro, mas pelos que tiveram o prazer de conviver com ele, aperceberam-se da pessoa ainda maior que era.

O seu sorriso era a sua imagem de marca, vibrava com as vitórias dos outros como fossem as dele e demonstrava constantemente uma disponibilidade enorme para ajudar quem fosse preciso. Apesar de tantas conquistas conseguia manter sempre uma postura humilde, querendo sempre aprender mais e exigindo a todo o momento de si próprio. Nos concursos deixava a sua marca, quer pelas suas conquistas, quer pelos laços que criava com meio mundo. Hoje para além do seu talento, relembramos toda essa amizade e cada momento que nos proporcionou. Tocou com certeza um pouco a vida de todos os que por algum momento tiveram a oportunidade de conhece-lo melhor. VILAMOURA ATLANTIC TOUR 2017
In 2017 Edition of the Atlantic Tour we pay tribute to the rider, but above all to the person, Francisco Moura. In his honour we will be awarding the best young Portuguese rider. “The horse taught me fear and a way to overcome it; the horse taught me how to relax; the horse taught me how to be prudent and cautious; taught me to be in pace with it before engaging the obstacle; the horse taught me how to fall down and to rise up, no matter the pain and effort it took; horse riding taught me that having
a firm grip requires discreet and gentle commands and behaviour. For all the reasons, horse riding is not just a physical exercise for it helps us to gain and master self-control; gives us a measurement of one´s strength and knowledge and the passion of taking calculated risks whenever possible. As it is usually said: THE HORSE TEACHES US TO HAVE A HEART…!”
They represented a whole philosophy and a set of teachings the he sought to transmit to his pupils at the FMoura´s Dream Team Academy.
Francisco has an early start in the horse riding world as he is part of the fourth generation of a family of riders. Horse riding runs in the family and Francisco, following his father´s António advice, goes to the Azevedo e Silva horse riding school. Aged 8 he makes his debut in Elvas at the Elxadai horse riding school. Three years later, aged 11, Francisco makes his international debut at Club Sek, in Madrid, riding his inseparable pony, Sonic and achieving extraordinary scores. Francisco and Sonic were, by then, a formidable team, performing with speed and adrenaline. However Francisco needed to reach a higher level and Sonic´s 1,49m were not enough anymore. He inherits, Lombroso, from his cousin Gonçalo, enabling Francisco to participate in higher contests, including a big race in Lisbon´s A Competition. He was 12 years old! When summer arrives, Francisco travels to France where, under the guidance of José Azevedo e Silva, he becomes an assiduous presence in the contests held at La Baule and Reims, among other venues. Between 1998 and 2005, Francisco participates in six European Championships in ponies, juniors and young categories(?). And in more than ten Nations Cup, representing Portugal. He stands out at the Junior European Championship held at Hagen, Germany, where for the first time in the history of horse riding, the Portuguese flag is hoisted to the highest place of the podium. Riding the amazing Kunwald de Calvarie, Francisco performs admirably in a flawless double course and wins the second qualifying round of the European Championships. Thus the Portuguese national anthem was heard in Germany in front of eighty riders from sixteen nations. A year before, in Portugal, Francisco, aged 17, enters the national championship riding Kunwald de Calvarie, a contest for riders aged 21 and older, and he doesn´t fail to impress, achieving the third place.

In 2004, Francisco graduates from high school and chooses to study Marketing at the University, however his dream is to become a professional horse rider. His parents, Fernanda and António, not without worrying, give him a chance that he will not miss out. Once more in France but also in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy, Francisco learns from the best; names such as Herve Godignon, Gilles Bertrand de Ballanda and works with Steve Guerdat. The year is 2007 and Francisco returns to Portugal committed to build his career as a professional horse rider and coach. The year 2009 means success to Francisco as he takes first place at Copa Ibérica riding Prestige de Triheree, wins his first Grand Prix in Category A at Centro Hípico de Coimbra with Little Rouge; ranks third in the national ranking and becomes member of Portugal´s National Team for the Gijon CSIO5*, riding Undiamo and, last but not least, becomes Portugal´s runner-up also riding Undiamo. In 2010,Francisco triumphs in the Centenário GP of the Portuguese Equestrian Society, riding Upsala and with the same horse becomes member of the national team lead by Joerg Muenzer in the CSIO4* at Lisbon where he, once again, completes a flawless performance. As a coach Francisco achieves success with his methods and also with his pupils as friendship grows between them all. That bond bears fruits, as many of Francisco´s pupils take part in several European Championships while also achieving high scores in national championships. By the end of 2009, Francisco brands his team as FMoura Dream Team investing in the training and development of a project for young Portuguese talents. Throughout these 26 years Francisco distinguished himself mainly due to his talent as a rider but also for his personal qualities as a human being. His smile was his trademark, he lived other people´s successes as his own and was always ready to help those in need. Despite his many victories and triumphs he kept his feet on the ground, he kept his humility, seeking to learn more and never ceasing to demand the most out of himself. In every competition he left his mark, either because of his victories or because of the personal bonds he created. Today Francisco is remembered as an exceptionally talented rider but, above all, for the friendship he gave us. He made the lives of those who knew him a whole lot better.

JustWorld International é uma organização dedicada à luta contra a pobreza através do financiamento de parceiros locais em todo o mundo ajudando as crianças com dificuldades. Esta organização humanitária proporciona educação básica, nutrição, saúde e higiene e programas de formação profissional para crianças em comunidades pobres no Camboja, Guatemala e Honduras, que de uma ou outra forma não têm oportunidade de receber apoio de outras fontes. Trabalhando através da comunidade equestre, Embaixadores e apoiantes em todo o mundo ajudam a consciencializar e angariar fundos para esses programas. Desde a sua criação, JustWorld Internacional tem crescido muito, ajudando mais de 6.500 crianças só este ano. Os projetos parceiros da JustWorld receberam reconhecimento mundial pelo seu extraordinário trabalho de liderança - recebendo o prestigioso prémio da CNN Top 10 Hero. Working through the equestrian community, Ambassadors and supporters worldwide help to raise awareness and funds for these programs. Since its inception, JustWorld International has grown tremendously, supporting more than 6,500 children this year alone. JustWorld’s partner projects have received worldwide re-
cognition for their extraordinary leadership- two have received the prestigious CNN Top 10 Hero Award. Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes, founder and director of Los Patojos in Guatemala, is one of these heroes and making huge strides for children in his community. Why Vilamoura? Bernardo Moura explains: “I became familiar with JustWorld a couple years ago at a competition and since then I have continued following their work. It is impressive how JustWorld has developed and how many children they are helping. As a show organizer, I see great potential in our event. It can be an important vehicle to help JustWorld in their battle to provide a better life to children around the world.” This partnership is about uniting two communities to form one big family, coming together to make a change. What will we be up to throughout these four weeks? The Vilamoura Equestrian Centre will play host to one of the first Cheers for Change events in Europe, a very exciting new fundraising initiative. Local volunteers will be selling show programs, the sales of which will be entirely donated to JustWorld, so look out for this dedicated group and buy a beautiful program which provides the opportunity for a child to have a meal or even a class at one of JustWorld’s partner projects. António Moura
Somos uma empresa que foi fundada em 1996, com o objetivo de preencher um espaço que se encontrava vazio no meio equestre, ou seja a organização de competições equestres internacionais, na modalidade de saltos de obstáculos. O fundador, António Moura, seguiu os passos de sua família sendo a terceira geração de cavaleiros na sua família após seu avô e o seu pai. António cresceu assim no mundo equestre e esta influência fez que abdica-se da sua carreira de engenheiro civil para se dedicar a tempo inteiro à sua maior paixão, os cavalos. Os seus irmãos João (Juiz FEI nível 4) e Pedro (proprietário de cavalos em toda a Europa) foram também cavaleiros e os três acabaram também por passar esse “bichinho” para seus filhos, a 4ªgeração dos Mouras no hipismo: Mafalda, Diogo, Gonçalo, Ricardo, Francisco e Bernardo, que competiram internacionalmente por Portugal e também em campeonatos de Europa. A partir de 1998, António idealizou a primeira tournée internacional, em três lugares diferentes de Portugal: Portimão, Vilamoura, e Lezírias. Após esta iniciativa, nunca parou, levando os principais eventos equestres internacionais para Portugal, eventos que marcaram a história do hipismo nacional: VILAMOURA ATLANTIC TOUR 2017

Como a organização do Campeonato da Europa de Juniores e Jovens Cavaleiros em Vilamoura 2004 e na Comporta 2011, e também na organização do primeiro CSI 4* e a primeira etapa da Global Champions Tour em Portugal, no Estoril - Cascais 2006. Neste momento, somos responsáveis pela gestão do Centro Hípico de Vilamoura, onde organizamos anualmente 12 concursos internacionais, trazendo a Vilamoura mais de 40 nações, 300 cavaleiros e cerca de 2000 cavalos. Fomos ainda pioneiros na organização de uma rota de concursos de inverno. Em Santarém, no CNEMA, este evento moveu o maior número de cavalos e cavaleiros nacionais de sempre, durante os meses de novembro, dezembro e janeiro de 2000-2013. History of moura family in the organization of shows We are a company that was founded in 1996, aiming to fill an equestrian space that was empty at the time, either in the organization of international equestrian competitions. The founder, António Moura, has followed the footsteps of his family being already the 3rd generation of riders in his family after his grandfather and father. Therefore, António has been involved in the equestrian world since he was born. His brothers João (which is a FEI Judge Level 4) and Pedro (owner of horses all over Europe) were also riders and the three of them have passed that to their children: Mafalda, Diogo, Gonçalo, Ricardo, Francisco and Bernardo, who have competed internationally for Portugal and also in European Championships. From 1998, António has idealized the first internacional tour, in three different places of Portugal: Portimao, Vilamoura, and Lezírias.
After this initiative, we have never stopped leading the major international equestrian events in Portugal, particularly start- events that have marked our country: • Portugal Equestrian Tour 1998-2002 (Vilamoura, Portimão and Lezírias) • European Championship 2004, Junior and Young Rider (U21) Vilamoura • European Championships 2011, Children, Juniors and Young Riders - Comporta • Vilamoura Equestrian Tour (2003-2006) and Atlantic Tour ( 20072016) became the second biggest tour this winter in Europe; At the organisation of equestrian events in Portugal we were the first company to start in Portugal from 1998 to the most important CSI made in our country. As the organisation of the European Championship for Junior and Young Riders in Vilamoura 2004 and in Comporta 2011, and also the organisation of the first CSI 4 and the first Global Champions Tour in Portugal, in Estoril – Cascais 2006. Actually we are responsible for the management of the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre as well as the organization of the shows. We were also pioneers in making shows at winter in Portugal. In Santarem, at CNEMA this event moved the greater number of horses and riders through the months of November, December and January from 2000-2013. • CSI 4 * Estoril (2005) • Global Champions Tour CSI 5 * Estoril (2006, 2007, 2008) • In 2007 we agreed a partnership with Herdade da Comporta, transferring the spring tour to Comporta, creating the Atlantic Tour. • In 2013 we returned to Vilamoura, for the next 15 years. • 2013: Vilamoura Atlantic Tour and Vilamoura Champions Tour

SHEIK SAMIR MIRDAD (DUBAI) I love Vilamoura! The people here are so nice, they are so friendly, António Moura the owner of the show does a great job. The atmosphere is really good and it has perfection conditions for the horses, the arenas are great, they have been making a lot of improvements year after year. Also the hotel where I am staying, I am able to work in the morning and ride in the afternoon, it has been a pleasant experience, I feel I am on vacation! Eu adoro Vilamoura! As pessoas aqui são tão simpáticas e amigáveis. António Moura, o organizador do concurso, faz um excelente trabalho. O ambiente é muito bom e tem condições perfeitas para os cavalos. As pistas são óptimas e a organização tem vindo todos os anos a fazer melhorias. Também o hotel onde estou hospedado é excelente e permite-me trabalhar de manhã e montar à tarde. Tem sido uma excelente experiência e sinto que estou de férias!
