The Sentence A Sentence has a Subject and Predicate In some books the predicate is referred to as the verb. A verb shows action or state of being. Examples: The boy ran. The boy is here. The subject tells who or what about the verb. Examples: The boy ran. The boy is here.

Nouns A noun is a word that names a person, place, or thing. Example:boy, house, book. Nouns often follow words like a, an, and the. Nouns are classified as proper and common. Proper nouns name a special person, place or thing and begin with capital letters. All other nouns begin with small letters and are common nouns.

A pronoun is a word that substitutes a noun or a group of words used as a noun. Subject pronouns function as the subject of a sentence. They are one of the easiest pronouns to identify in a sentence. These are the subject pronouns we use in English
