steady economic recovery, many new facilities, both in Italy and abroad, and, more generally, a significant growth to be continued in the foreseeable future. That's, in few words, the swimming pool Italian market performance in 2018. That, thanks to the construction of new facilities, the renovation of old structures and the increase of individuals who want to insert a water space in their garden, is going through a period of recovery and prosperity. And by thriving, renews.

The pool made in Italy, in fact, looks with increasing attention at design and new technologies, as well as the environment and nature. These trends clearly emerge from the projects and photos that celebrate the candidates for the Italian Pool Award 2018, the competition instituted by Piscine Oggi to acknowledge the excellence of the Italian swimming pool industry. And furthermore, an opportunity to monitor the progress of the sector.
HARMONY, NATURE, ENVIRONMENT

eautiful, comfortable and super-equipped: the trends emerging from the eighth edition of the Italian Pool Award show a tendency towards clean and geometric lines, accessories not only for relaxation but also for fun, the latest hi-tech gadgets and the use of natural materials. Among the recurring elements undoubtedly dominates the suggestive infinity edge, declined in its various types: a design choice that gives the pool a touch of unique elegance. Glass is also a great protagonist, which allows to play and dare with its transparency, creating pools with one or more walls "without veils".

Wood and stone are two timeless classics, thanks to their thousand shades and textures represent one of the most popular variants for swimming pool coverings, whether they are external (such as the everlasting wooden solarium) or internal (marble veins, for example, give the water iridescent unique reflections). And let's not forget that wood and stone allow perfect harmonization of the pool with the surrounding nature, especially when the typical local materials are involved, perhaps
brought directly from a quarry in the neighboring area. But the perfect integration with the landscape doesn't mean less technology and comfort: in fact, whirlpool jets are increasingly present, ideal for pleasant moments of relaxation, and the LED lights too, from the white to the colored RGB ones, chosen according to the characteristics of the pool to create great scenographic and suggestive effects in the evening and at night, able to enrich the pool with grace and style. 5
HOME AUTOMATION: EASIER AND SUSTAINABLE
A
mple space is also reserved for home automation, with a wide range of solutions offered by the market in order to optimize the management of the pool and save water and energy, as well as limit the use of chemicals. For examples, there are variable (and programmable) speed pumps that ensure a good energy saving, systems that recycle the water used during the backwashing, and apps that allow to control and manage the pool via smartphone and tablet.

ut the raising awareness related to the 'green' themes is leading more and more individuals to approach the biological pools: solutions, in other words, that annul the chemical treatment and entrust the process of water purification to the wise hands of nature, through biofiltration and aquatic plants. Biopools, which can be considered as biotopes because they are more like ponds or lakes rather than artificial facilities, require scrupulous care, but the final effect repays all the efforts, and that's why they are so popular.

s the world hastens to find solutions able to preserve natural resources and diminish the impact of pollution produced by the Industry, every economic sector should make an effort to try and lessen its impression into the environment. And the pool Industry too can and must give its contribution to the safeguard of our planet. That's why Piscine Oggi and ForumPiscine launched, last year, an unprecedented campaign: the self-sufficient pool. A new sustainable model of swimming pool, that not only does not waste water but in an era in which global warming is changing the world's climate, the summers are becoming more and more arid and water resources are at risk, can constitute an important resource at the service of the community. I
t’s like the outfit of the pool, and its importance is both aesthetic and functional. It’s the pool lining, a key element of each and every project, both from a pragmatic point of view, since each liner has its own characteristics, such as a certain level of resistance, durability over time, naturalness versus a greater capacity for resisting the chemical elements present in the water; and from the aesthetic point of view, since the pool liner plays a pivotal role in the introduction of a swimming pool in any context, be it urban, rural or maritime. The choice between the mosaic or the natural stone, or maybe the ceramic, in fact, does not stem exclusively from personal taste, at least if we wish that the pool environment, that is the surroundings of the water, is harmonious, symmetrical, firmly interconnected element by element. The location, position, context, and use of the pool also

matters when this choice is made. For example, if our pool is included in a garden on the Tuscan Apennines, which has many areas subject to restrictions by the Superintendency, it might be a good idea to pick a liner able to evoke the breathtaking landscape. But if the pool is indoor, we can venture in terms of class and elegance, perhaps employing a beautiful mosaic. In this review, we present some of the Italian excellence in terms of pool liner materials, while waiting for ForumPiscine 2019 – from February 13th to 15th, Pavilion 19 of Bologna Fair District – for the opening of Surfaces, the exhibition that shows and promotes the swimming pool outfit: the lining. Now in its second edition, Surfaces will present exclusively, in an elegant frame that will offer the opportunity to touch them with your own hands, some of the most innovative materials for the lining of pools and spas.

It’s the Italian Pool Design, now in its eighth edition, a series of books born from the desire to highlight the excellence of the Italian design and construction all around the world. The collection offers the possibility to discover a series of recent works, with a special focus on details and technical information. Among exciting photos and design sketches, Italian Pool Design has its roots in the Italian Pool Award, the Italian pool prize organized by the magazine Piscine Oggi. The swimming pools protagonists of this eighth volume were selected among the candidates for the award in 2017, with a clear intent: to highlight the most interesting and remarkable Italian projects.

WHAT DOES CREATING A WATER PARK MEAN First of all, creating a water park is about making a comfortable, happy and relaxing environment, where fun is genuine and guests never get bored. A place where human life values are best enhanced for everybody regardless of the age. Right for this reason, water parks must have different areas to satisfy the different ages of guests. Amusement parks must have games that satisfy both the user and the viewer. Attractions of water parks must be funny, spectacular and, above all, safe. These are the three main values that Acquapark has having in its DNA since its very beginning.
FOR CHILDREN The last years have shown a rapid spread and increase of games for children. Satisfying children mean satisfaction for parents and chaperones, too. This is why Acquapark has been focusing on children with the creation of “Magic Castle” and “Happy Island”, i.e. interactive attractions full of different water games. Magic Castle has many fountains, waterfalls with turrets and waterslides of different shapes, decorations and colours. Happy Island is an attraction where children can swing and splash water with friends. Both attractions are safe, where children can improve imagination and creativity, make friends and have fun.
A PARK FOR EVERYBODY Acquapark wants to satisfying all age groups, thus it also produces waterslides full of curves and breathtaking slopes, like the Slide Roller Coaster. This slide, like a roller coaster, has up to 20-25 mt drops to do with single or double inflatable rafts. Acquapark also produces more traditional Toboga, Kamikaze and the famous Aquatube. For people of any age, the Sliding Hill is a sinusoidal slide made with a soft surface covered with a thin film of water that helps sliding. For daredevils, the more extreme “Rainbow Cannon” is a closed-tubes slide that alternates faster and slower slopes and gives the user high doses of adrenaline and the thrill of falling from a great height after the “weightless” experience of flying in the air.

GRATINGS Depa manufactures grates for gutter in 16 models and 16 standard colors, such as green, blue, grey, crème, yellow, orange, etc. Depa can offer linear and bendable grates, roll-up and rigid grates, with perpendicular or parallel elements. The grates are studied for heavy duty purposes. All grates are manufactured in Green PVC or PP of high quality with special additives against UV ray and against crashes. GR43 GRATINGS This is rigid and parallel grating manufactured by injection and suitable in 3 standard widths: 182 mm, 245 mm, 330 mm. Intermediate widths can be obtained by cutting. Pieces 333,3 m long: 3 pieces for 1 meter of grate. The structure and 21 cross sections of the gratins guarantee a high weight load capacity and mechanical resistance. For these reasons this grate is perfect for linear gutter for private or public pools. ←
GR20 GRATINGS A strong parallel grating manufactured by extrusion and suitable in every width and in every color on demand. Width from 150 mm to 400 mm, pieces 1 meter long and 6 support tubes for piece. Suitable for private or public pools. ←
GR90 GRATINGS This bendable grating is manufactured using high quality PP. Features: →→ height 22 mm; →→ width 245 mm. olimpianti started in 1975 in the town of Azzate, near the city of Varese. he dehumidifiers series SP and SPW have been specifically designed for small pools and spas, where you need a large drying capacity to effectively prevent the damages caused by the high humidity level. The body and frame are made of powder painted galvanized steel, the heat exchangers are coated with a special varnish that protects them from aggressive substances, like chlorine.
