viously to safety and energy-efficiency, which today necessarily require coverage. As we have already said several times: made-in-Italy swimming pools are paying increasing attention to design and new technologies, but also to the environment and nature.

LONG LIVE THE SMART POOL! Environmentally sustainable, efficient, automated. In two words: a smart pool. The Italian magazine “Piscine Oggi” has strongly advocated and launched Smart Pools by calling them “self-sustainable pools”, according to a model that is not only a construction methodology, but a sum of technical measures and good practices brought together under a crucial advanced-thinking concept, in an era where clean freshwater is becoming an increasingly rare asset. Smart Pools will be displayed at the ForumPiscine 2020 Expo with a 1:1 scale replica of a real economically virtuous, energy-efficient, and environmentally-sustainable system. The goal? Presenting this Italian creation at national level on this unique occasion that is offering us the opportunity to show an innovative installation, halfway between a museum exhibition, an educational journey, and a création artistique.

The identikit of the trendy swimming pool that could be drawn after the Italian Pool Award 2019 portrays a minimalist sleek look infinity swimming pools, with such thin edges that water looks like a crystal plate, square shapes that accurately define their position in space, and materials capable of highlighting the absolute perfection of their features. Outstanding both outdoor and indoor, this design suits perfectly in urban architectures , as well as in rural but classy areas like a villa in the countryside, perhaps with a teak frame and large glass windows to connect the interior with the exterior.

days the market offers numerous opportunities in terms of "transparency games", underwater windows and finishes. Inserting the glass in the walls or at the bottom of the pool, therefore, attributes a considerable architectural and functional value to the installation itself but it's always necessary to rely on qualified professionals: the slabs demand the right processing and the waterproofing at the joints must be seamless. To install the glass, when the pool is being built openings are provided in the cement structure with special stainless steel counter-frames. The slabs, therefore, are housed in the frame so that the profiles are not visible. At this point, the glass appears as an extension of the pool lining and depending on the shade of the material, more or less transparent, or the play of light created with the help of LED spotlights, monochromatic or colored, the effect is breathtaking.

And we Italians know well the properties of hydrotherapy, already known in Roman times, which were great builders of spas that later became famous all over the world. It's ForumPiscine that, in 2020, in collaboration with BolognaFiere and Assopiscine, which also sponsors the event together with FIN and Federterme, returns to the Gallery version, a smart, privileged stage for training, networking, meeting new buyers, both Italians, and foreigners, and discover the latest news from the market. Because ForumPiscine is just that: a bright spotlight always focused on the latest trends in the aquatic world, a forge of ideas, avant-garde projects, visions of the future, the only pool and spa Expo and Congress in Italy included in the international calendar of trade fairs. For 2020 the appointment is from February, 19th to 21st, Pavilion 33 of the Bologna Exhibition Center, which for the occasion will turn into a real cultural arena, where the Expo intertwines with the Congress to create a single large space, dynamic and functional to the business, dedicated both to the exhibition stands and to the conference rooms. A compact format, whose keyword is “professionalism”. Yes, because to train, to show their know-how, to exhibit their expertise – those same skills that make them some of the best in the world – will be the exhibiting companies, who will have the opportunity to be protagonists through workshops and technical demonstrations. The ForumPiscine Congress program is part of this cultural context, with numerous free admission events: a further reason of interest for managers, professionals, and technicians who work daily with swimming pools and spas, be they independent facilities or included in a sports center, a fitness or wellness club, a hotel, a campsite or a resort.

FORUMPISCINE EXPO ForumPiscine Expo will display systems, models, technologies and accessories of the pool industry in its different applications and in the fitness and spa sector. LIVE SHOW Inside the Expo, by the exhibiting companies’ stands, will take place real technical and professional live shows during which experts and operators will have the opportunity to attend practical demonstrations of installation and application of products, such as liner and structural panels. And therefore, to touch first-hand the talent, the know-how of the manufacturing sector of the international pool and spa industry, with the opportunity to establish useful professional relationships and meet new buyers.

SMART POOL Battle horse of the 12th edition, the self-sufficient, eco-sustainable and automated pool, designed to minimize its impact on the environment without sacrificing quality or functionality, will be brought to life in the very heart of the Expo, built with the contribution of various companies in the role of project partners. The Smart Pool will also be the site of the workshops organized by the same partner companies that will present their most cutting-edge technologies. A demonstration of how technology, automation, sustainability, and self-sufficiency can and must coexist together in the aquatic plant.

INNOVATION AREA By popular demand, after the success in 2018, it will be back the exhibit characteristic of the Gallery edition to showcase the companies’ most innovative products, creating the only art gallery in the world dedicated exclusively to the pool and spa Industry. A hi-tech and futuristic corner, dedicated to the best of research and innovation produced by the Industry, to assess the current state of a constantly evolving sector and to look at what the future holds.

ITALIAN POOL AWARD, THE PRIZE TO THE ITALIAN EXCELLENCE As usual, the appointment with the Italian Pool Award is unmissable. What better occasion than ForumPiscine to reward the best pools built by Italian professionals? Invented by the magazine Piscine Oggi, the award aims to identify and celebrate the pools that represent an example of a well-designed and built structure, in which we can distinguish technological content, respect and capacity for integration with the environment, accurate design and attention to water and/or energy savings. A jury of professionals carefully evaluates the candidates, whose projects are divided into residential pools (indoor and outdoor), commercial pools (indoor and outdoor) and bio-pools, thus decreeing the winners of each category, who are rewarded on the stage of ForumPiscine with the prestigious ladder-shaped bronze statuette during an award ceremony which is a festive occasion and a celebration of the excellence of the entire Italian swimming pool sector.

THE 2019 STATISTICS ForumPiscine, in 2019, drew more than 7,500 visitors and 150 exhibiting companies to Bologna, who presented components and equipment, furnishings and accessories for the design, renovation, and management of residential, commercial and public pools. Significant the figures about visitors from abroad: foreign companies accounted for about 20% of the total (Austria, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands and Spain the most represented countries), a confirmation of the fact that ForumPiscine is a privileged channel to get in touch, not only with the Italian market but also with foreign companies and operators.

Of course, there’s no shortage of devices with an eye on the pool safety: the market offers circulation pumps equipped with special systems that quickly intervene if trapped bodies or objects are perceived, blocking the pump and thus avoiding unpleasantness accidents. For water treatment, on the other hand, the dosage units carry a significant weight. In Italy many companies are producing such devices, therefore we selected some of the best Made in Italy solutions for pools and presented them in a review to help users and professionals to chose the right one. 15

A charisma that is certainly most apparent in all the pools protagonists of the ninth edition of the Italian Pool Award, that this year received 57 applications (the highest quota ever) distributed into 5 categories: Residential Outdoor, Residential Indoor, Commercial Outdoor, Commercial Indoor, and Biopool.

THE GREAT RECOGNITION FROM THE WEB The beauty of the swimming pools that joined the competition captured the web's attention, involving thousands of people in the awarding of a special prize via ‘like’ on the ForumPiscine's Facebook page. Over 9,000 users expressed a preference for one or the other pools listed this year, and with more than 1,500 shares and 1,000 comments, the ‘Facebook special prize’ was awarded to SYS Piscine – Piscine System 2000, that reached quota 1,121 likes.

THE VOTE The evaluation of each candidate was, as always, entrusted to a technical jury, which expressed its opinion based on a series of parameters related not only to the aesthetics of the different projects but also to the materials used, the technologies applied, the introduction in the natural or urban environment, the accessories of the pools, etc. By the vote of the jury, 5 swimming pools were awarded at ForumPiscine 2019 during the annual award ceremony and received the bronze statuettes designed by Osvaldo Casanova, manufactured by the ancient Merighi Arte Foundry in Bologna. To conclude the celebrations, one more award was bestowed: this year, Assopiscine launched a new prize that recognizes the facilities following the law, born to give credit to those project that can best satisfy technical and safety requirements and still can interact with the environment in which they are included.

ow in its last edition, Italian Pool Design 10 will gather the most beautiful pools among the 57 candidates for the Italian Pool Award. Available from February 2020, the volume will present a series of Italian masterpieces of great technical and aesthetic value: residential swimming pools, commercial pools, and biopools that promote and enhance the excellence of the Italian companies in pool design. This slide, like a roller coaster, has up to 20-25 mt drops to perform with single or double inflatable rafts. Acquapark also produces more traditional Toboga, Kamikaze, and famous Aquatube. For people of any age, the Sliding Hill is a sinusoidal slide made with a soft surface covered with a thin film of water that helps to slide. For daredevils, the more extreme “Rainbow Cannon” is a closed-tubes slide that alternates faster and slower slopes and gives the user high doses of adrenaline and the thrill of falling from a great height after the “weightless” experience of flying in the air.

RELAX AND SAFETY Guests of water parks usually look for relaxation and wellness, so Acquapark also produces areas for hydromassage, air massage, massage with geyser, air bubbles, tropical showers, and wave pools. SUNNYDAY ‘ON THE ROCKS’: NO MORE FROST DAMAGE Non-glazed panels are solar collectors made with plastic materials (such as PVC, polypropylene, neoprene or synthetic rubbers), with no insulation and glass covers. For these features, they are also known as “plastic” or “unglazed” collectors. They are the ideal solution when slightly higher than ambient water temperatures are required. One of the most interesting applications for unglazed collectors is the heating of outdoor swimming pool water: here they provide a perfect solution to maintain a pleasant water temperature (25-28 °C) in small and large size swimming pools. These collectors can also be used to heat sanitary water (35-40 °C) in second homes that are used only in the summer or holiday accommodation facilities such as

hotels, camping sites and bathhouses, which are all mostly used in warm weather periods. The issues of winter maintenance to protect solar panels from winter frost are wellknown. However, this problem has been definitively resolved recently by our Sunnyday ‘On the rocks’ solar panel (Sunnyday SF), which ensures the same performance of the conventional panel (Sunnyday SD), but has a special flattened shape of the channels (5.5 mm wide) that allows them to absorb the expansion due to frozen water without breaking. Sunnyday is built with a particularly robust copolymer polypropylene mix, compatible with food uses and resistant to aggressive chemicals. These features allow water to be directly heated inside the panel, whether it is sanitary water or a swimming pool water, with considerable benefits in terms of simplicity, cost and efficiency of the system. Any support base is indicated for its installation, provided there is no roughness which would damage the panels, also due to the abrasion caused by the small movements due to thermal expansion and vibration induced by the wind. The new-profile Sunnyday SF series solar panel has been certified by Eurofins according to the UNI EN 12975-1 standard, which assesses its compliance with du-

rability, reliability, and safety requirements for solar panels, and according to the UNI EN 12975-2 standard after tests conducted on the thermal performance of the panel.

SUNDROP, A NATURAL CIRCULATION KIT Sundrop is a natural circulation system for sanitary hot water, to be installed on terraces or roof terraces. It is an excellent solution for second homes and summer tourist facilities, and consists of: →→ A 200 l stainless steel corrosion-resistant tank that required no maintenance and no heat exchangers; →→ 3 Sunnyday SF Series 2000 solar panels that ensure no overheating, no scaling, no corrosion, no frost damage, no glass barriers. Moreover, these panels are more efficient than glass panels in the summer period. Sundrop is a synonym of simplicity, technique, and reliability. Having neither a thermal probe nor requiring any electronic adjustment, it only works based on the laws of physics, i.e. difference between the temperature of the water contained in the panels and that contained in the tank. ux International produces Led lighting solutions for indoor, outdoor, pools, saunas: RGB (multicolour) or WHITE at 2700K, 4000K, 5000K. Our Led Bars and circuits are entirely developed and manufactured in Italy by our facility located in Brendola, Vicenza, and we use exclusively high quality Led certified IES-LM-80-2008. We propose anodized aluminum profiles for indoor of different shapes and dimensions, with opaline or satined cover to allow an optimal diffusion of the light. Our range includes also stainless steel or white PVC profiles with resin IP68 for outdoor, pool and sauna lighting. The resin we use guarantees the highest reliability IP68 and high resistence against chlorine or salt water, atomospheric agents and extreme temperatures. We praise exclusive products developed in house as Dinamic Light, Candle Light and RGB Control Unit with 36 colours and 4 cromotherapy. LUX International, with a twenty-year experience in the electronics industry, has successfully committed itself to LED lighting, in particular for the wellness area, and our wide range of products has recently been enriched by two new elements: Spot LED “100” and Flexi. SPOT LED “100” Spot LED “100”, the biggest of the IP68 Spot LED line, joins the Spot LED spotlights “1”, “15” and “30”, all made of AISI 316 stainless steel, with or without PVC outer casing. Spot LED “100”, for PAR 56 enclosures, is designed for large pools, is fitted with around 100 LEDs and is available in white, RGB and RGBW versions. Made in an IP68 PVC case, it’s self-dissipating and it doesn’t need to be immersed in water for cooling. Extremely luminous and with reduced consumption, it’s also suitable to satisfy the widespread need to replace old halogen lights with new LED lights in existing systems. FLEXI Flexi expands the already very extensive “Linear LED” line, which includes profiles in aluminum for indoor use, in IP68

PVC and profiles resined for high temperatures, all rigorously made with rigid or flexible bars of Lux International’s production. Flexi is available in the IP68 PVC version, for application in swimming pools, fountains, outdoor, Steam room or in the silicone version suitable for high-temperature environments such as saunas, both with white and RGB light.
