They killed 30 people in a six hour siege before security forces were able to kill the attackers. "At first there was a firing followed by a huge blast, said an employee at a nearby hospital. Over 50 people have been wounded and ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Ovarian Cysts Spreading Throughout The World & How To Treat Them. Ovarian cysts are showing up in women more and more in the world as time goes on. Ovarian cysts are common to occur in most women once in their lives, however, some women are not aware of having them. When being diagnosed with ovarian cysts, women need to be educated so that they know how to properly treat their cysts. According to an Ovarian source, an ovarian cyst can either be a clear fluid sac or a blood filled sac that can grow in the ovaries. According to Healthline, most cysts disappear without treatment, but others need help in order to dissolve. There are many different types of ovarian cysts that cause different issues depending on how serious they are. There are two main types of ovarian cysts which are called functional ovarian cysts and pathological ovarian cysts. Pathological cysts produce in the ovaries, while functional 1

Man Faces The Sea Setting a World Record 4,500 miles of the Atlantic Ocean has been crossed by using a stand up paddle board by the Watersport Pro, Chris Bertish. He created his own world record. His journey started off the coast of Morocco and ending at a harbor in Antigua. "The more time I can spend in the ocean, in any shape or form, the better. I'm a waterman and the ocean is my inspiration. It's where I truly feel alive, comfortable, content, happy and free," Bertish said. The trip was 93 days long total and paddled the amount of a marathon a day. "Nothing is impossible” Bertish, South African Watersport Pro says, “unless you believe it to be.”

cysts never do much harm and are a part of the normal menstrual cycle. The main type of cyst that occurs most often in women is the follicular cyst. The follicular cysts produce when, every month an egg is formed in the follicle of an ovary. The egg is then released and the follicular cyst is supposed to burst. In some cases, the follicle is unable to release the fluid and shrink after releasing the egg. According to Slomski, the follicle then starts to swell with fluid, and transforms into a follicular ovarian cyst. They can either be filled with a clear fluid or blood. Cysts can range from many sizes, like the size of a pea, to (in rare cases) the size of a baseball. The average size of an ovarian cyst is 2-3 centimeters and can occur at any age. According to Slomski, large cysts can cause pressure or a fullness feeling, while small cysts can remain unnoticeable. While most women are able to deal with their cysts and have no pain, others may encounter a ruptured cyst which causes an immense amount of pain. According to Healthline, ruptured cysts are rare but do occur; when a cyst ruptures, it is usually due to excessive movement and jerks of the body. According to Explora, common symptoms of having ovarian cysts include weight gain, abdominal pain, and changes in the menstrual cycle. Most women experience these symptoms without being aware they have ovarian cysts. Which is why it is important to get ultrasounds regularly. Knowing the causes and stressors related to ovarian cysts is just another step to rising above the pain and symptoms. There are a couple different paths of treatment to take. The most common by far is birth control. One, because there is no hard work or surgery that has to take place. It is just taking a pill every night. And two, because the longer the woman takes it, there is less of a risk for the ovarian cysts to come back over time. Women throughout the world are starting to have to deal with ovarian cysts more and more. Like it was stated before, many women can have them throughout their life and not even know. It is the select few that deal with the pain and side affects of the cysts. And that select few is showing up across the world more than ever before.

Malaysia Airlines Search Coming To an End Ever since 2014 whenever the words “Malaysia Airlines” is heard, many people think of the flight that disappeared in March that year; the Malaysia Airlines plane flight MH370. The plane headed to Beijing had 239 people on board. The Airline company says the plane lost contact less than an hour after take off. The Airlines company started to worry when the planes transponder shut down as the plane crossed the Malaysian air traffic control into Vietnamese air space. Investigators said there could have possibly had an interruption in the planes electrical supply, but are unsure without factual evidence. The plane then disappeared and took a different route than planned. Evidence revealed that the plan was deliberately diverted by someone on board an hour after take off. Whether it was a passenger or the staff, there was definitely a disturbance. The police and investigators were alerted. Since they had no idea where the plane was or if people were alive, the search of the plane expanded to 3 million square miles between different countries. Eventually, parts of debris were found off the north eastern coast of reunion. The debris that was found did not affect the search plans because the debris had been carried by the ocean currents. There was no way to know exactly where the debris had come from or where other remains would be. A total of 20 pieces of debris have been found from the crash. When the wing flaps were recovered they found that they were not in landing position when the plans went down; which has been confirmed by the French officials. "To have not found the aircraft at this stage is frustrating for everyone involved and particularly for the families of the passengers and crew," Australian Minister Darren Chester mentioned in a news interview. A report released in November 2016 said that the plane was downward spiraling at a rate of 300 miles per hour "I think at some point, they'll find it — it's too big a mystery” said an investigator, “But the technology we have now, we can't do it easily or cheaply.” Now that the search may be coming to an end, the families of the passengers have launched a campaign to privately fund a search on their own. Australia, China, and Malaysia announced at the beginning of the year that they are ending their search; which is putting all of the families of the passengers in disbelief. "The fund will be invested and the annual investment returns or interests will be used for the search of MH370," Jiang 3

said, another investigator on the team. "Once the plane is found, the original donation will be returned to the donors, without interest. Investigators were able to confirm that the captain on the flight had tracked a route deep into the Indian Ocean on his home simulator almost identical to the route that was taken by the plane out of nowhere.

Getting to Know A Family Owned Restaurant Nowadays most restaurants/cafes are chain. It is hard to find one that is solely family run, but I was able to sit down and have a chat with the Mahshi Family who own Byblos Cafe in Old Town Orange. The small cafe is family run and has been in business for 28 years. As I sat down with Mr. and Mrs. Mahshi, the starters of the business, they explained how the cafe became apart of their lives. “After we got married, I worked at the wonder bread factory, but absolutely hated it. I have always wanted to own my own business, and the perfect opportunity was given to me when one of our friends was selling his business.” So the couple bought the place. It was originally

Now what were they going to do? Lucky for Mr. Mahshi, he already had skills in the kitchen. Mrs. Mahshi explained, “for as long as I have known him, it has been his dream to open a restaurant and serve food from our home town.” Both Mr. and Mrs. Mahshi are from the country of Lebanon, a small country in Western Asia, bordered by Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south. SENIOR LIFE | By: Mollie Simmons |
3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Senior Year The final chapter of my high school existence is coming to a close while college is creeping closer. Soon I’ll be starting a whole new chapter of my life. Looking back on the beginning of the year there a few things I know now, that I wish I had known then. Juniors, read up and take notes.
It goes by quicker than you think People use to tell me all the time that high school flies by, but I couldn’t have wanted it to “fly by” more that I did at the time. Now, as senior year is coming to a close I realize how right they were. I can remember like it was yesterday when fourteen year old me was terrified of high school, not knowing anybody. But here I am, I’ve made it to senior year, preparing for college, being both excited and wishing that I could travel back in time to experience the four years over again because they were some of the best I’ve ever had.
Advice from Graduated Seniors On behalf of the senior class I can undoubtedly say that we have all thought about college and what’s in store for the next four years. We’ve wondered what it’s going to be like, what the struggles we’ll run into, what the best part is, so I asked a few graduated senior what to expect when we enter this new chapter. Freshman, Hailey Shah, who attends Pepperdine in Malibu told me that the hardest part for her was “leaving my friends behind, especially because I go to school so close to home. The best part is meeting new people and being independents. I am able to do what I want when I want, like going to the beach in between classes.” Emma Skelly, Freshman water polo player at UCLA said the hardest part was “not seeing all your friends in between classes because your schedule is totally different from anyone else’s. In high school you had at least one person in your class that you knew.” From those, I can see that being away from your high school friends may be hard and take some getting use to. But, the freedom that comes with college is enjoyable. Well, for most people. Campbell Ruh, freshman and Gannon University in Pennsylvania said that it was the hardest part about college because “teachers don’t take 1

Senioritis is Real No matter how much you know you’ll miss high school senioritis follows you wherever you go. It’s a real thing. You don’t expect to get it, but once it hits you’ll start to procrastinate even more that you did before (yes, it’s possible).
What you think you want and what you actually want are different. This happened to me when I was in the process of choosing a college. I’m incredibly lucky to have gotten scholarship offers from many colleges, ultimately withering it down to UCLA and UCSB. After months and months of this process I decided to attend UCSB, it’s where I belong, but in the process I almost decided on UCLA because that's what a majority of others were telling me to do. Not that it’s a bad thing, I really appreciate their advice, but in the end I know what’s best for me and what I want better than anybody else. So follow your dreams and what you want because you know what's best for yourself. Keep in mind though, this doesn’t mean ignore advice all together.

attendance, it’s not required. So you have to hold yourself accountable.” Although leaving friends and holding yourself accountable may be hard, they all had something good to say about college. Kenzie Snyder, a freshman at UCSB said, “seniors shouldn’t worry, college is so much fun and frankly better than high school in my opinion.” Campbell Ruh told me “OLu prepared me better than I could have ever imagined,” and Emma Skelly stated “For as big of a change that high school to college is, they really do ease you into it! It’s scary but you’ll survive!” Some things that may be hard for you could be the easiest thing about college for the next person. Overall, I noticed that there are up’s and down’s in the transition from high school to college, just like there is with anything. It’s another step in growing up that we all have to take eventually, so don’t let the fear of entering a new environment stand in your way, because, who’s happier, the man who braved the storm of life and lived, or he who stayed securely on shore and merely existed?

10 Things High School Taught Me High school has taught me much more than how to solve multivariable linear systems and about the process of mitosis. Don’t get me wrong, those things are important, but the lessons learned along the way may get you further than knowing what year and by who Lord of the Flies was written. So, here’s a list of ten important things I’ve learned throughout high school. 1. A bad grade isn’t the end of the world, but they do matter There’s always that one class that you’ll struggle in, you can’t be good at everything. Inevitably you’ll end up getting at least one bad grade in the four years of your high school career, trust me, it isn’t the end of the world. Study harder and make it up on the next assignment but don’t dwell on that one grade like it’s the end of the world. Also, don’t complain about it to your friends for the next three months because honestly, they don’t care. 2. Put your phone down Today everything is about who posted what on Instagram, how many likes you’re getting, or what the latest “trend” is. Even I fall into the trap, everybody does. But, sometimes you just have to put the phone down and enjoy what you’re doing and the people you’re with. If you don’t you’re going to miss a whole lot. Sometimes you might have to sacrifice not getting “the picture” or posting on your snapchat story because being with the people you love and enjoying the moment is a thousand times more valuable. 3. Have fun High school shouldn’t be all books, tests, and homework. You need to have fun and be a kid while you are one. Don’t get me wrong, school matters, but you’re only a kid once. No re-do button is going to magically appear and let you travel back in time to do it all over. So, be the bookworm you are but find a nice balance between school work and a social life. 4. Be positive I have found that if you love life, life will love you back. Your positivity will be contagious to others and vice versa, your negativity will be contagious as well. Don’t be the person that denounces everything and doesn’t see the good in anything because ultimately it get’s annoying and people get tired of the negativity. Yes, it is okay to vent every once in a while but if you do it 24/7 nobody is going to want to befriend you. 5. Ask for help I know it seems lame to ask your teachers for help, but it’s worth it. If you don’t understand something then go in a few minutes before class, it can make a big difference in understanding the lesson. Also, your teacher will see that you’re trying, they’ll appreciate it (and maybe even grade easier!) 6. Everyone changes Everyone goes into high school having their close group of friends they think they’ll be besties with until the end of time. 99% of the time that doesn’t happen. You’ll change friend groups, you’ll meet new people, you might have a few fights here and their, but in the end you’ll have found the most amazing group of people that love you for you. 7. Treat others with respect and you’ll get it in return This is one thing you hear all the time “treat others with respect,” it should be followed. Throughout my high school journey I have heard stories of disrespect and even seen it with my own eyes. In the end it 3

causes problems for you and the other person. You won’t like everyone and surely everybody won’t like you, but don’t think that gives you permission to treat others with disrespect. 8. Learn to do things on your own I can’t say it enough. Learn. To. do. Things. On. Your. Own. After high school you won’t have mom and dad right by your side to hold your hand. You’ll be on your own and if you aren’t prepared...well, you’re kind of screwed. Learn how to make your favorite dishes, learn how to do your laundry, know how to budget, and how to manage your time because it’ll be on you now. 9. Talk to everyone In high school, talk to and meet as many people as you can (especially in your grade). It’s good to interact with different personalities and different friend groups because it teaches you how to interact with different personality types. That is an important characteristic to have in the real world. 10. Disney Channel lied Disney Channel lied… I’ve never once broke out singing in unison with my fellow classmates. But, Disney wasn’t that far off. There were ups and downs and everything in between. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Leaving the “Fab” Four “Who’s the oldest? How many minutes apart are you? Do you fight?” These are all questions I have become accustomed to hearing when people find out I am a quadruplet. Ever since I can remember I have been reciting the same script; “Myna is the oldest, then Malia, Myself, and Jake is last. We were all around 5 minutes apart, and yes, of course we fight, were siblings.” Growing up a quadruplet has taught me many lessons that I will carry for the rest of my life. It has taught me how to love, how to put the blame on somebody else and getting away with it, and how to be my own person even when I’m conjoined at the hip with three others. All throughout life the four of us have always been very close. Even as seniors in high school we eat lunch together every day and somehow have the same group of friends. I have spent eighteen years with my three best friends and soon we will all be leaving for college, headed in separate directions without each other. It is going to be a big change for all four of us. I thought I would have all the time in the world with my siblings, I thought I would get sick of them, but that’s certainly not the case. Jake and Malia are applying to schools while Myna and I have committed to play water polo at UCLA and UCSB. I asked each of my siblings if they are excited to leave for college, and these are the responses I received.
As for Malia, she said, “Yeah I am excited, but it will be something I’ll will have to adjust to. It will be hard though because I’ve never been without my siblings for a long time, but I know it will be good for all of us to figure out how to be on our own.” Last but not least, Myna told me “I am excited to leave for college because I get to experience life on my own, but I am also sad because I have to leave my family behind and I am use to being with them all the time.” As for me, I know leaving these three behind will be one of the hardest things I will ever have to do. I always hear stories of my friends getting home sick while in college, I cannot imagine what it’s going to be like for me or for my siblings. I know each and every one of them have the skills and brains to make it out in the real world on their own, but it will be something we all will have to figure out. We won’t be far apart but I know that it will feel like we are in different countries. Living through this journey has blessed me with three best friends I would not trade for the world.
Fist, Jake said, “I am really excited but at the same time really sad because I know I am going to miss them. The good thing is that we will all most likely be in California still, so we won’t be too far apart from each other. I know that they will strive in college but I will be missing 3/4th of me and it will be hard to adjust, but it’s doable. I’ll be sad but I’ll defiantly keep in touch for sure.”

Strategic Studying
Rejuvenate Right!
Feeling under the weather, being swamped by a busy schedule, or its “just one of THOSE days” makes school a little bit harder. As teenagers we have the tendency to overwork ourselves by pulling the occasional all-nighter or procrastinating late into the night. Even though “senioritis” has kicked in we are all aiming for that one grade to get us out of taking another final. As the days count down till graduation here are some quick study tips to make last few assignments easier.
One thing most teenagers forget is how important it is to take a break and allow them the proper rest. Instead of trying to work through everything till it is completed it is better to split that activities into pieces creating time breaks in between. A break can be anything from taking a small walk, eating a quick snack, or just listening to music for a few minutes. By taking these few minutes to rejuvenate yourself it can increase your focus and even make the work go by quicker. Stretching – Not only does stretching help your muscles while working out but it can also increase circulation throughout the body. By taking the time to loosen your muscles it can benefit your overall posture which could limit aches while studying (Inverarity 1). Music – Try playing that favorite song that has been on repeat for the last couple days. It’s the perfect time to dance around the room and lose some pen-up energy. Napping – Now don’t go crazy with this one, meaning no hour long naps. Try napping for around 20 minutes at the most to give your body enough time to completely relax and recover. 20 minute naps will sharpen motor skills allowing you to concentrate better. (Ackerman 2). Rewards – Finding rewards can make the countless hours of homework worth it in the end. Set milestones with some sort of prize that you can have once it is finished. This could be an episode on Netflix, a break, a snack, or a moment to get up from your desk. Talking – If you start to feel stuck while working that
Teaching – Try talking through the concepts with someone who doesn’t know it. This technique makes your brain go through each concept instead of glossing over it. Sometimes with teaching it can cut down the overall study time of certain subjects (Young 2).

NO cramming – Even though you may think last minute cramming helps, it really doesn’t. It may work for a small quiz but it won’t benefit your long term retention for the exam down the line (Tucker 1). Highlighting – Save yourself some ink and put down the highlighter every once in a while. When you start to over highlight there is no information that sticks out from the book. It soon becomes one big neon yellow block of text. Notecards – Notecards are the perfect size to write important information about different concepts while staying organized. Also they are easier to carry around compared to a heavy text book.

probably means it’s time to clear your head. Usually talking to someone for a few minutes can help you get new ideas or a different perspective.
Sweet Substitutes Eating healthy doesn’t always mean cutting sweet treats out completely. It is easier to start small by finding alternatives or other options for some of your favorite foods. By swapping out different snacks or other junk foods with something that provides your body with more nutrients and energy it won’t seem as hard to put down that pint of your favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Also cutting out extra sugars and salts can clear up your skin, and make you more energized throughout that day. Chia Seed Pudding (Bierhaus) ¼ cup chia ½ cup coconut milk or almond milk Directions 1.Pour chia seeds into a medium sized container 2.Add coconut or almond milk of choice 3.Stir together and refrigerate for 2 hours (or overnight) Banana Pancakes (Maccarrone) 2 ripe bananas 1 cup rolled oats 2 egg whites 2 tbsp milk (coconut milk for a healthier option) ½ tsp vanilla Cinnamon Directions 1.Combine mashed bananas, rolled oats, egg whites, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon Mix until batter is completely combined 2

The Art Behind the Therapy Combining the emotional values of the art world with scientific research within psychology could be the key to groundbreaking treatment for people from all walks of life. In humans memories are usually linked to a visual experience or something that has stimulated the senses. Similar to the reason why some people remember smells from their childhood. As the field of psychology progresses there are many signs explaining that the sensory stimuli affected in art therapy may provide more help in the healing process. As art therapy is being considered in more facilities it is quickly becoming a valuable type of treatment. It is known as a type of sensory based treatment that utilizes the sense as a focal point in the process (Malchiodi 2). Most of the work takes place on the right side of the brain where memories and other visual sensory are processed (Lusebrink 126). Since art therapy provides a more gentle approach it reduces the chances of experiencing post traumatic reactions that can be seen in other types of therapy (Malchiodi 2). Its common use is to help people with various learning disabilities and different behavior disorders (Anderson 18). It’s a technique that will have a deeper and different meaning for each person it encounters. Since art has such a wide variety of styles there is something for every emotional problem and life experience. Along with behavioral problems, art therapy can help those who have a trouble relating or feeling emotions towards others (Henley 1). As the artistic activities are processed through the right brain it will sometimes reconnect feeling and thinking (Malchiodi 2). One of the key factors to this treatment is it does not capitalize on the skill set of each individual but looks more into the personal expression (Anderson 20). Instead of praising the patient’s skill set there is more attention placed on the interpretation of their healing process. One of the biggest steps in art therapy is learning how to view the different responses from different visual aids. Combining two fields that connect deeply with a human’s emotions is a brilliant way to learn about how the memories in the brain are protected. Many side effects of posttraumatic stress disorder are caused by sensory memories that have been disconnected somehow in the brain (Malchiodi 2). In many cases it is used to identify and reconcile conflict within self-awareness. Depending on the activities each patient is given it can lead to the individual finding relations with themselves on the inside and outside (Anderson 20). As memories are reconnected for people it can open up a new door to the recovery process by making them remember key points to their story. 3

Fun Cars for College! Brent Dunn from autobytel writes an article on the “10 Fun Cars for College Students.” College students go through a lot of stress when in school so having a fun car to get away from everything can be something for them to look forward to. For many years companies such as Toyota, Subaru, Volkswagon, etc have made “affordable and economical, yet also stylish and fun” according to Matt Dunn from autobytel. College can have its ups and downs but when it comes to going out for a drive with your friends or to the supermarket, it can always be a fun drive with what we think are “the most fun cars for college students” from autobytel.
Why Toyota is the best Car Company There are many companies out there today. Different companies build different types of cars. Some companies build everyday cars and others build fast hyper and super cars. One company that has always stood out when it comes to durability and performance for everyday cars is Toyota. Toyota was started by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1933 in a small company that later grew into The Toyota Motor Co. in 1937. Its first vehicle was released in 1935 and after WWII Toyota used most of the wrecked and worn out trucks to be recycled and used for their own (Toyota).
Later on after growing and becoming 40% of Japanese car industry Toyota created a more luxurious company with the same capability of Toyota’s cars in 1989 called Lexus. This line of cars outsold brands like “BMW, Mercededs-Benz, Jaguar and others” making 1

record sales of 4 billion dollars (Toyota).
Best Business Cars John Brandon from The Inc. Life created a list of “10 Top Business Cars for 2015” in which it still applies today in 2017 because all of the same makes and models in those companies. America runs on business and that is why people own these nice cars because when they do go out on business calls the first thing people see when they show up is their car. In 2015 John Brandon says that some of the cars “make you stand out in the startup crowd.” For 2017 all the brands have kept the same body style and features for these amazing cars. All around America people drive hybrids, trucks, etc, but when it comes to saving on “tax deduction” you know its worth it.
Most people when thinking about buying a car they think about a Honda or Subaru because it is known for its gas mileage and reliability. Toyota is the same or even better, “80% of Toyota’s sold twenty years ago are still on the road” (Top.) The price for a Toyota might be a little higher than a Honda or Subaru but you know it will last you way longer than any other car out there. Carol O’Brien says, “might just be the most reliable car on the road” (O’Brien). “JD Powers rank Toyota at the highest reliability numbers compared to other companies. JD Powers says when purchasing a new or used Toyota “you’re getting a highly reliable automobile” (Top). Toyota has the best resale value according to experience with the third party company Kelly Blue Book. KBB says, “just make a quality vehicle that improves people's lives, give it an affordable price, and make sure the vehicle is the most comfortable, reliable, and enjoyable vehicle in its class” (Top). For this reason is why Toyota holds the most awards from KBB for having the most reliable and quality vehicle. Everyday Toyota is building up on its feet about moving forwards with today’s technology growing rapidly. Most recently they have added Apple CarPlay for most Apply users that is more than 50% of the world. Almost all of the new Toyota’s today come with a multi media display to interact with the different features that come with the car or media. In 1997 Toyota had an idea of coming up with a car that ran off of a combined gas engine and electric motor. This would then deliver an eco-friendly car that would get amazing gas mileage; this resulted into the new and improved Toyota Corolla Hybrid. In the year 2000 Toyota sold over 5 million cars worldwide. Though Corolla’s have been selling since 1966 the new Hybrid name gave the people the confidence that they were saving the planet with these cars going around and by 2013 40 million have been sold resulting into a big 2

pay check of 225 billion dollars (Toyota). Through this hybrid technology Toyota created a line of hybrids called the Prius. The Prius comes in many different sizes and shapes all to adapt to their customers opinion. KBB has given Toyota a reward for having the most line ups for hybrid vehicles. It is almost asking who doesn’t want to get 50+ miles to the gallon? This line of hybrids has taken up the streets in big cities as taxicabs and for the daily commuters to work. In 2013 Toyota overtook General Motors in the number of sales. Toyota has come a long and hard fought way to becoming one of the best car companies in the world.
Car Enthusiasts and Modifications When someone thinks about getting somewhere they often think of driving as a chore and look for the shortest route to get from point A to point B. For a car enthusiast, every time stepping into a car is a new adventure and when driving to a destination an enthusiast might find themselves cutting away from the main roads to go on a back road that someone would usually disregard. Many people see cars as a source of transportation, but as a car enthusiast, we see it as freedom or an escape from the drama and tasks of life. Most people will not go out and just drive for fun. For a car enthusiast, it is an addiction to see how well the car can handle on the street or on the back roads of a mountain. It may be a stupid obsession to have with some metal with four wheels on it, but car culture has brought many different people together all for one reason, cars. There are millions of different ways where someone can take a normal car and create an amazing machine. Each person and car is different. Gears and Gasoline on Youtube explains it as, “Cars give someone something to think about” (Why 1). It extends the imagination of what could be done to make a car perform, handle, or look better. It keeps enthusiasts thinking about what they can do next to their car by researching parts and asking 3

others on their experience. For enthusiasts like Gear and Gasoline cars are “an escape from the tedious reality that can be so mundane” (Why 1). David Patterson says in his Car Culture: A Love Story video on Youtube, car enthusiasts research and take their time choosing which car they are planning to do to see the potential that it can have (Car 1). Many enthusiasts put cars as one of their priorities in life. They set a goal for their car and put hard work and dedication towards their goal as getting into cars is an expensive but fun money pit (Blood 1) as David Patterson explains in his Blood Sweat and Gears video. To upgrade and modify a car becomes a large consumption of money because upgrades cost a lot of money. As more upgrades and modifications are added to the car, the more the car becomes a money pit and a reflection of its owner. There are also many situations where these modified cars can be inconvenient in neighborhoods. Many modified cars have an aftermarket exhaust on them and some would say that they are “ear splitters in the morning” (Wes 1). By adding aftermarket parts to the car it can sometimes raise the noise level of the car. It is an inconvenience for others when many people do not like to be woken up at five o’clock in the morning to a loud car in their neighbor’s driveway. Many “car people” enjoy meeting up at car meets to show off their project or simply to hangout. Car meets are usually an organized meet and greet by a shop or social media inviting anyone and everyone to their meet where everyone with a stock or modified car can come down and interact with each other. Usually when these meets happen the results vary due to how many people will show up. There can be ten cars to hundreds of cars. Cars reflect the owner on how it looks and drives (Blood 1). Not all people are the same so not all cars are the same. Everyone has a different taste to what they want their car to be. As the car meet ends or is shut down by the local police, there is more fun waiting as everyone leaves the meet and goes for a drive. Driving with friends and new friends from the meet is surreal. The feeling of being in a pack and driving together tearing up the streets is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes someone will have. The part of taking your built car and all the time and effort put in the car will prove to the owner what is next to be done to make it even better than it is.
