Teacher Certification Process of Fundamental Courses Registrations are coming

in for the certification process for teachers of Fundamental Courses. So far we have registered participants from El Salvador, Argentina, MĂŠxico, Uruguay. Bolivia, PerĂş, Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela. We want to extend an invitation again to both teachers who are certified in teaching Fundamental Courses and to those who want to begin to serve in this training program (either classroom or online) to participate in this certification process. The process will provide new tools, strategies and methodologies for teaching courses as well as a support system with a mentor, not only during the period of the certification process (6 months) but for the entire time they are serving as teachers.

As explained in the previous issue of the Bulletin this process has 4 phases. Most is done in virtually (online) but there is an in-person practical component available in Cusco, Peru. . In Phase 01 In the Dialogue Education Certification participants focus on the characteristics and challenges of cross-cultural teaching of adults. Three studies ( "Country Cultural Studies" by Hofstede, "Cross-Cultural Teaching" by Judith and Sherwood Lingenfelter and "Seven Design Steps" by Jane Vella) will be processed through discussion forums, readings, research and interviews, module design, teaching practice and feedback. In Phase 02 participants receive an introduction to changes and new content that will be implemented in the 3 subject areas of the Fundamental Courses in October. They will also work on preparing 2 modules using Dialogue Education.

PHASE 00 Introduction process Meeting / Interview Online March 2017

PHASE 04 Monitoring Face or Online

PHASE 01 SIL Certification in Dialogue Education (technical level) Online Monday March 13, 2017 (4 months)

Cf's Teachers Certification Process

PHASE 02 Updating the Fundamental Courses Online July 2017 (1 month)

PHASE 03 Feedback-Training Face-to-face Training in Cusco September 2017 (4 weeks)

In Phase 03 participants teach a course in their specialty, adapting the modules to the cultural context of their own students. They will receive daily feedback and help from their peers and mentor (4 weeks in Cusco). All participants and mentors will work in communities of practice to build teamwork and receive mentoring which will continue even after they have completed the final training in Cusco ( Phase 04).

We encourage leaders of partner organizations and others involved in training cross-cultural missionaries to take part in this certification process that will greatly provide support and growth for teachers and future participants.

FEB 21th 21th International Mother Language Day

In 1999, the celebration of International Mother Language Day was adopted, but it was not until February 21 of the following year that UNESCO celebrated this day for first time and continues to celebrate it every year since then on that date. It is celebrated with various activities that promote the knowledge and use of mother languages. This date has generated awareness about the world we live in giving importance to every spoken language in the world, whether an official language or not, spoken by thousands or only a few. This day is also an opportunity to learn about each people group's mother tongue, their customs and begin to understand the way they see life. This helps us recognize and celebrate the untold wealth of cultural and linguistic diversity. Every year UNESCO chooses a different theme, which has a particular focus. The 2017 theme is "Towards sustainable futures through multilingual education".

Pray that each person can have access to God's word in their language, a quality education in their mother tongue and thus learn to live with dignity as people made in God's image.

This focus promotes quality education as well as use of the mother tongue in teaching and learning, for the preservation of linguistic diversity.

The whole group of Training Trainers Course, at left above me, Marcelino, Facundo, Flor, Rodolfo y Beatriz Senn (Directors of LETRA Argentina), Joanna, (Uruguay) Mariana, Ana (Perú, Coordinator of training of LETRA Argentina), Nidia (Colombia Teacher of Second Language Acquisition), Damaris, Gigi, at the bottom Agustina, José (Paraguay) Daniel (Paraguay).

The whole group of Fundamental Courses, with their teachers, Nidia, Elvira and Fernanda. By Rosalba Rugamas

I enjoyed a wonderful time with our brothers and sisters from LETRA in Cordoba, Argentina. The Fundamental Course had 15 students and another 9 took the Training Trainers Course. This group has the passion and dedication to serve the Lord. Among this group were people from Uruguay, Paraguay, Honduras, and, of course, Argentina.

The teachers, on the left at the top Nidia (Colombia) teacher of Second Language Acquisition, Fernanda (Argentina) assistant in Linguistics, at the bottom Elvira (Argentina), teacher of Linguistics and me (Rosalba, El Salvador) Coordinator of the CF’s.

Of the students trained, 7 will attend CILTA this year, including one who wants to learn more so that she can continue serving as a facilitator of the Fundamental Courses. This time when I visited them to see how they do the course was really a great blessing. I got to know them and saw their dedication and effort in all areas of the course to finish well. NOMADIC

Training Trainers Course phonetics and linguistics

I witnessed some of the classes and part of the Training Trainers Course, talked to the students in the Fundamental Course and chatted with those in the Training Trainers Course. I was able to strengthen ties with the group and to discuss the certification in the Dialogue Education project we are planning. Pray for the lives of the students and teachers that God will provide for their needs and guide their steps at all times. Pray for LETRA Argentina, that God will bless their ministry as they train Latinos in Bible translation.
