SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN CHINA

MOFCOM SCHOLARSHIP

MOFCOM Scholarship is set up by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China to further strengthen the communication and cooperation between China and other countries, as well as to develop talents for developing countries. Starting from 2015, MOFCOM Scholarship mainly sponsors the young and the middle-aged talents from recipient countries to pursue their postgraduate degree education in China and entrusts China Scholarship Council to administer the Scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students meeting the following requirements: be a citizen of a developing country other than the People’s Republic of China, and under the age of 45 (born after September 1, 1974); Be healthy physically and mentally with a physical examination report issued by a local public hospital, and not having any disease or situation listed. With at least three years’ working experience; be a bachelor’s degree holder when applying for master’s program & be a master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral program; be sufficient in English which meets the academic requirements of the program, be equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 and above level. AWARD: Students are exempt from tuition fee, teaching material fee, research and survey fee, allowance of English-taught program, dissertation guidance fee; monthly stipend, One-off resettlement fee, medical insurance for international students and international airfare. CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

For the purpose of supporting the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitating international promotion of the Chinese language and dissemination of Chinese culture.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students from 16 to 35 years old. The applicants must have Chinese Proficiency Test HSK 200 or HSKK 60. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded full coverage on tuition fees, accommodation fees, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. BILATERAL PROGRAM FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREE

In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to new students during their bachelor’s degree who are no older than 25 years of age. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a living allowance of ¥1,400 CNY per month. DEADLINE: The deadline ranges from January to April every year. Learn more here.

HUBEI PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

In order to adapt the development of study abroad in china and increase the use efficiency of scholarships for international students, Hubei Province has established regulations of Hubei Provincial Scholarships Management for the purpose of talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, and cultural exchanges in universities and colleges.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to foreign citizens with valid passports. For full eligibility requirements, click here. AWARD: The award varies depending on the scholarship. DEADLINE: Scholarship Applications should be accepted by all universities and colleges between February and June.

ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY PROGRAM OF MARINE SCHOLARSHIP OF CHINA

The State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the Ministry of Education of China jointly offer the program of Marine Scholarship of China for the purpose of providing financial support to outstanding students from the coastal countries.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to citizens of non-Chinese nationality in good health, from a coastal/island country of South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African, American developing country. Applicants must apply for the postgraduate program of ocean-related specialties. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded exemption from registration fees, tuition fees, laboratory fees, internship fees, and fees for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus. XINJIANG UYGUR AUTONOMOUS REGION GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government Scholarships for Neighboring Countries are full scholarships. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Office of Education is responsible for enrollment and the day to day management of international students from neighboring countries.

CHINESE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM FOR MASTER’S DEGREE

Chinese Government Scholarship supports international students, teachers and scholars in pursing degrees at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s and PhD) or non-degree studies and to conduct research in China.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to new students applying to or currently in their master’s degree who are no older than 35 years of age. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a one-off settlement subsidy of ¥1,500 CYN and a living allowance of ¥1,700 CYN per month. DEADLINE: Applications are accepted by the end of April each year. FUJIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The government of Fujian Province has established the fujian Government Scholarship for international students in an effort to further promote the development and make progress on scale, level and service ability of the international students’ education oin the Fujian Province and attract more academically excellent international students to study in Fujian.

HKSAR GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

With a view to attracting outstanding local students to advance their studies at home, and meritorious non-local students to pursue higher education opportunities in Hong Kong, the Government established in 2008 the $1 billion HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund (the Fund) to recognize outstanding local and non-local students.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarships are open to all students pursuing full-time publicly-funded undergraduate studies in Hong Kong. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded $40,000 HKD per year (for local students) or $80,000 HKD per year (for non-local students). DEADLINE: May. Learn more here.

SICHUAN PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is applicable to the higher education institutions of Sichuan Province which are entitled to enroll foreign students.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to excellent doctoral students, master’s students, undergraduate students, junior college students and long term students who are studying in the relevant institutions and who are applying to study in the institutions. The students will receive the scholarship every year until they finish their studies on the premise that they are approved by the institutions every year. BEIJING GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

In order to promote the development of higher education of international students in Beijing and further improve the talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, and cultural exchange, Beijing Government has set up the Scholarship (BGS) for international students.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT GUANGHUA SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT IN CHINA

Guanghua School of Management, Peking University is offering scholarships for international students to pursue MBA programs.

SHANGHAI GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR MASTER’S DEGREE

SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN JINAN UNIVERSITY

In order to encourage excellent foreign students all over the world to study at Jinan University, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has set up this scholarship program.

HKU SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Hong Kong offers merit-based entrance scholarships for top-ranking students who are admitted to our undergraduate programs.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarships are open to all students applying to full-time undergraduate studies at HKU. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded up to a value equivalent to the full tuition plus accomodation and general living allowance per year. DEADLINE: Learn more here.

CHINESE GOVT SCHOLARSHIP – BILATERAL PROGRAM

Bilateral Program includes a full or partial scholarship established by MOE in accordance with educational exchange agreements or consensus between Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities or international organizations.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health. Undergraduate applicants should be less than 25 years, Masters applicants less than 35 years, Doctoral applicants less than 40 years. Be under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma (or higher) when applying for the general scholar programs; Be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs. AWARD: The Bilateral Program provides both full scholarships and partial scholarships. DEADLINE: Need to apply between early January and early April. CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP – GREAT WALL PROGRAM

Great Wall Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to sponsor students and scholars in developing countries to study and conduct research in China. This program only supports general scholars and senior scholars.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health. For full eligibility requirements, click here. AWARD: A full scholarship which covers tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. DEADLINE: You need to apply between early January and early April. Please consult the National Commission for UNESCO in your home country for the specific deadline of each year.

CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP – EU PROGRAM

EU Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for candidates from EU member countries. This program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars and senior scholars.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be a citizen of an EU member country, and be in good health. AWARD: The EU Program provides a full scholarship of tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. DEADLINE: You need to apply between early January and early April. Please consult the Office for Education and Culture, Mission of P. R. China to the European union (referred to as the EU office) for the specific deadline of each year.

CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP – AUN PROGRAM

AUN Program is a full scholarship established by MOE for candidates from ASEAN member countries. This scholarship only supports graduate students.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be a citizen of an ASEAN member country (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), and be in good health. AWARD: The AUN Program provides a full scholarship which covers, tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. DEADLINE: You need to apply between apply between nov-jan. Please consult the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat for the specific deadline of each year.

CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP – WORLD METEOROLOGICAL ORGANIZATION (WMO) PROGRAM

WMO Program is the scholarship established by MOE of China for World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to sponsor international students to study and conduct research in meteorology in China. The two designated universities for this program are Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and Hohai University.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health. The majors are limited to Meteorology, Hydrology and Water Resources Monitoring & Management. AWARD: This is a partial scholarship which covers a tuition waiver, accommodation, living expenses and comprehensive medical insurance. DEADLINE: You need to apply between early November and next February. Please consult the WMO Secretariat for the specific deadline of each year.

CHINESE TRADE UNIONS SILK ROAD SCHOLARSHIP

To develop the friendly relations between trade unions of China and countries along the “Belt and Road”, CTUSRS provides a full scholarship to scholars to study Chinese for one year.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the PRC, and preferably from one of the countries along the “Belt and Road” and in sound physical and mental health. AWARD: CTUSRS provides a full scholarship award covering all program-related expenses including tuition waiver, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, stipends and one-time international round-trip air fare. MARINE SCHOLARSHIP OF CHINA

To enhance international marine cooperation and exchange, and promote harmonious ocean development in the region and around the world, the program is sponsored by the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the Ministry of Education of China for the purpose of providing financial support to outstanding students. The scholarship is offered by the following: Xiamen University, Zhejiang University, Ocean University of China, Tongji University.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant should be a citizen of non-Chinese nationality in good health, from a coastal/ island country of South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African, American developing country. The applicant must apply for the postgraduate program of ocean-related specialties. AWARD: Exemption from tuition fees, and provide accommodation on campus. DEADLINE: Every year, from 1st January to 30th April, an applicant may apply to the universities designated by this Scholarship program.
