SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN CANADA

HUMBER INTERNATINAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS

This entrance scholarship is available for Graduate Certificate, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma students joining Humber in January 2021.

ELIGIBILITY: Students with a high academic qualification (students with GPA 85%+ and 6.5+ IELTS (or equivalent in TOEFL, Duolingo, senior high school grade in English)) looking to be rewarded for their performance in the senior year of high school, college or university. A total of 10 undergraduate and 10 graduate eligible new international students will be awarded a CAD 2,000 scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded on the first come, first served basis for students that received their Letter of Acceptance and confirmed their offer before September 15th 2020. Eligible students must pay their tuition fees in full and scholarship amount will be credited to the student account after the 10th day of classes. The scholarship will be disbursed in two installments over the 1st two semesters. AWARD: CAD 2,000 off student’s tuition fees over the course of thefirst year of studies. YORK UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL MAJOR ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS (IMES)

IMES is a merit based scholarship for students who are offered admission at the University of British Columbia. Students must be on a study permit and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA GRADUATE FELLOWHIPS

The Government of Manitoba has provided funds to ensure that Manitoba’s best students continue education at home, to foster research that leads to economic growth and to attract excellent students to study in Manitoba.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students with a minimum GPA of 3.75 (above B+) in each of the last two years of study at a recognized university based on a bachelor’s, master’s graduate diploma or a doctoral degree. CHINA SCHOLARSHIP COUNCIL (UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA)

Established in 2014, the “China Scholarship Council – University of Manitoba Joint Funding Program” is a collaborative program of the University of Manitoba and the China Scholarship Council that funds study at UM for PhD students from China.

ELIGIBILITY: Before applying, candidates must meet the minimum Ph.D. admission requirements as set by the University of Manitoba and obtain an unconditional admission letter from the Faculty of Graduate Studies. AWARD: The university will provide support towards the tuition fee and international differential fee for up to 48 months under the condition that the scholarships from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have been secured. The CSC will provide scholarship support covering visa application fees, one roundtrip airfare between China and Winnipeg by the most economical rout, food and accommodation, and health insurance expenses. UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Alberta offers many scholarship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students with outstanding academic potential. MCGILL UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FUNDING

McGill recognizes the challenges International students can face when studying away from home. PIERRE ELLIOTT TRUDEAU FOUNDATION

This three-year leadership program is designed to train Engaged Leaders, equipping outstanding doctoral candidates with the skills to translate their ideas into action, for the betterment of their communities, Canada, and the world. Up to 16 doctoral Scholars are selected each year and receive generous funding for their studies in addition to leadership training in the context of Brave Spaces.

WATERLOO INTERNATIONAL MASTER’S AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

The University of Waterloo is offering the International Master’s Award of Excellence (IMAE) to international students who wish to undertake Master’s degree programs that are research-based.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be International students with a valid Canadian study permit who are registered full time and assessed international tuition fees. The scholarship will normally be awarded to Master’s degree students in research-based programs (thesis or major research paper). Only students entering the first term of their program are eligible. AWARD: The scholarship award is valued at $2,500 CAD per term for a maximum of 5 terms. DEADLINE: Students will be automatically considered for this award based on their application for admission; hence no separate scholarship application is required. The application deadline for most Master’s programs commencing September 2021 fall within January to February 2021. VARNIER CANADA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship, launched by the government of Canada, is designed to help well qualified doctoral students pursue their studies in renowned Canadian institutions.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to Canadian citizens, permanent citizens of Canda and foreign citizens. Applicants will be considered on three equally weighted selection criteria: academic excellence, research potential and leadership. INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CANADIAN STUDIES: GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The ICCS offers 6 scholarships annually to young international scholars to spend 4-6 weeks at a Canadian University for research in the field of Canadian studies.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students in the social sciences or humanities field who are preparing for a graduate thesis or dissertation on Canada. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded up to $4,000 CAD for all expenses. DEADLINE: November. Learn more here.

CANADA-CHINA SCHOLARS’ EXCHANGE PROGRAM (CCSEP)

Established in 1973, the CCSEP was the result of an undertaking by then Chinese premier Zhou Enlai and Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. The CCSEP is an official exchange program between the two countries designed to enhance Chinese scholars’ and professionals’ knowledge and understanding of Canada. Scholarships are usually for four to 12 month periods of research in Canada, but do not involve formal enrolment at a Canadian university. The recipients are placed as visiting scholars.

ELIGIBILITY: Canada offers awards to full-time, permanent teaching or research staff, master’s or doctoral graduates as well as non-academics in China holding senior professional posts (e.g., judges, broadcasters, economists) so that upon their return home they can make a distinctive contribution to life in China and to mutual understanding between Canada and China. AWARD: The China Scholarship Council provides a round-trip international travel fee and visa application fee. The Canadian side provides scholarship living expenses ($2,200 CAD per month) and medical insurance expenses during the study in Canada. DEADLINE: Could be delayed due to COVID-19. Learn more here.

WINNIPEG PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIPS FOR WORLD LEADERS

The University of Winnipeg President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is awarded to international students entering any of the University’s divisions for the first time. Applicants must have a minimum 80% admission average or equivalent and must be involved in activities that demonstrate leadership.

ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must have a minimum 80% admission average or equivalent. They need to be an international student who is entering the first year of any program. Candidates have to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities. AWARD: $5,000 CAD. DEADLINE: 1 June 2021.

ENTRANCE AWARDS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (CARLETON UNIVERSITY)

Carleton University awards scholarships tenable at the University, in the Fall/Winter session of the year of offer to entrance and in-course full-time undergraduate students who have demonstrated a high potential for university studies. The intention of the scholarship policy is to recognize, attract and provide incentives for excellence.

UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

The University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship is a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding accomplishments of an international student beginning their undergraduate studies at the University in the Fall term. The criteria for the Scholarship includes not only academic excellence but also accomplishments outside the classroom.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be international students who are registered full-time in an undergraduate degree program that commences in the Fall term. They have to be new students. To be considered for a scholarship, a student must normally present a minimum GPA of 3.20. They must also have satisfied the university’s English Language Proficiency requirement. AWARD: The scholarship is $15,000 CAD, renewable annually in the second, third and fourth year at the University of Calgary, provided recipients achieve a GPA of 2.60 or more over a minimum of 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms. The total amount over 4 years of undergraduate program is $60,000 CAD. DEADLINE: The application deadline for Fall 2021 admission is 15 December 2020 (early admission) and 1 March 2021 (standard admission). The application deadline for the International Entrance Scholarship is 1 December 2020.

FINCAD WOMEN IN FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP

FINCAD established FINCAD’s Women in Finance scholarship to support oustanding women in the field of finance, especially in the field of derivates and financial risk management. It is also designed to give women the opportunity to cultivate and share their skills.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to women of any nationality who wish to study finance in a graduate-level program. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded $10,000 USD to support their graduate-level studies. DEADLINE: June. Learn more here.

IDRC RESEARCH AWARDS 2021

This call is open to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries enrolled in a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university OR who have completed a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university.
