02 About the Building
13
a.
Clients’ requirements:
“I had always wanted a spacious modern house of clear and simple forms, and my husband had been almost horrified by the interiors of his youth, stuffed with trinkets and lace.” Mies van der Rohe realized “the concept of opening up the interior space of the house to its natural surroundings.”
b.
Site
The mansion is located on a very steep slope. The side that faces the street is isolated, however, the opposite side offers superb views of the old city of Brno.
