Friends produce documentary on Benld landmark By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge Fats Domino, the Ike and Tina Turner Review, Tommy James, Bo Diddley, the Everly Brothers, Johnny Rivers and Ray Charles. Believe it or not, those iconic performers are just a few of those who actually have performed at the Coliseum Ballroom in Benld. A couple of friends and co-business owners, Jim Marcacci and H.B. Logsdon, are in the videography business and came up with the plan to put their memories of the ballroom together with what they do for a living. The business partners were both teaching similar video-related courses during the mid’90s and early 2000s. After sharing knowledge and assisting each others individual businesses over the years, they decided to form a partnership about three years ago. H.B. grew up and taught in Litchfield and Jim grew up and taught in the Benld/Gillespie

School District. They had both been to the Coliseum in their youth and into the ‘70s. So the interest was mutual in finding out more about the acts that performed at this historic location. Jim and H.B., now owners of Sound and Image Videography, are beginning their most ambitious project so far. “Dance to the Music” (which is actually the pending title), to tell the story of the Coliseum Ballroom, its various performers and individual experiences in a documentary DVD. The Coliseum opened its doors on Christmas Eve, 1924, and featured Frank Westphal and his Famous Orchestra from Chicago. Over the next 65 years, the Coliseum presented the best of the working bands and orchestras and became an important part of America’s musical heritage. “We had always wanted to do this project,” said H.B. “A number of factors finally came together at the right time and it’s becoming a

reality.” “There are so many people with a story about the Coliseum. . . and a memory. We decided to get all of that before it was too late,” said Jim. “I remember the acts that I saw, Fats Domino, Ike and Tina Turner, Tommy James and Bo Diddley. Even before that were the big bands, and we want to get that too,” said Jim. The co-owners created Sound and Image in 2007 and have been producing weddings, special events and industrial videos since. The Coliseum project is admittedly a big one for the duo, but they already have a tremendous amount of information and know there is more to be heard. That is where the community comes in. The creators are looking for assistance from the public. “We’re asking people for help. We need pictures, stories and memories. We want to tell it all and present an accurate representation without the rumors and tall

tales,” said Jim. Jules Blattner, area favorite for years, Mike Kleinhoffer, lead singer for the group Effic, Gary McClain and Richard Lang, both of The Guild, all have agreed to be interviewed, as well as St. Louis legend Bob Kuban, whose 1966 record, “Look Out for the Cheater,” was a top ten hit. L o n g t i m e r a d i o p e r s o n a l i t y, K e v i n McCarthy, has agreed to narrate the film and negotiations are currently under way to secure the Godfather of Rock and Roll, Chuck Berry. This ambitious project was recently featured on “Around Macoupin County with Rick Davis” on WSMI 106.1 FM. People planner Grant’s Farm open for season For its 56th season, Grant’s Farm welcomes a number of new baby animals to share with the public. This year, new additions include an Appaloosa horse, Red-Fronted lemur, Longhorn calf, two Mustang foals and two Scottish Highland cattle calves. In addition, the farm is eagerly anticipating the birth of a number of fawns, expected by early summer. With more than 140 Pygmy goats already born this year, guests will once again have an opportunity to partake in one of the favorite attractions – petting and feeding the babies. “Each season our guests enjoy the

new animals at the farm as well as familiar traditions, such as feeding the baby goats – a tradition that dates back to 1954 – the farm’s first year open to the public,” said Andy Elmore, general manager of Grant’s Farm. Last season, among the new features was the animal carousel that guests of all ages can enjoy again this year for $2 per person. Visitors may also tour the elephant facilities and feed one of two African elephants, “Bud” or “Mickey,” in “Elephant Encounter.” Tickets for “Elephant Encounter” are $5 per person and are available before the free elephant shows at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Guests also will be able to enjoy many of the other favorite

attractions, including the worldfamous Budweiser Clydesdales, the tram ride through the Deer Park and numerous other animals. Photos with a Budweiser Clydesdale are also available in the Clydesdale Stables. As in the past, there is no admission fee for Grant’s Farm and reservations are not required.

People planner “Jurassic Bugs” invade Butterfly House Enormous, ancient creatures are invading the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Chesterfield this year! See life-size replicas of prehistoric arthropods, explore displays of their living relatives and learn about how these animals have changed over millions of years when the “Jurassic Bugs” exhibition crawls into town, Saturday, May 1 through Sunday, Oct. 3. Hours through Memorial Day are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays); from Memorial Day through Labor Day, open 9 a. m. to 5 p.m. daily. The exhibition is included with Butterfly House admission.Fossil records indicate that some animals were enormous

as compared to today’s specimens. Encounter five of these oversized species taking up temporary residence inside the central exhibit hallway. See Brontoscorpio, a meter-long scorpion that shared its environment with giant cockroaches that were over a foot long! View the enormous dragonfly, Meganeura, and giant millipede, Arthropleura, which thrived during the Pennsylvanian Period about 300 million years ago. Also on display is the largest arthropod presently known, Pterygotus, a ferocious ten-footlong sea scorpion from the Silurian Period. These prehistoric bugs will join the permanent residents of the Butterfly House: living beetles, roaches, tarantulas, spiders, scorpions and other insects and arachnids. Compare these smaller creatures of today to their larger

prehistoric relatives to learn how they have evolved over eons. Insects and other arthropods are far older than dinosaurs; arthropod fossils in the form of primitive millipedes and scorpions date back to 450 million years ago. Amber, or fossilized tree resin, is an important source of information about the history of these creatures, providing clues in the form of preserved insects (whole or in parts), pollen and other small specimens. Examine some of these important fossil records on display that date back to nearly 70 million years ago. Delve deeper into the world of prehistoric critters with Jurassic Bugs Family Days. Drop-in anytime from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the last Saturday of June, July, August and September to explore ancient arthropods and the living insects of today through games, activities and

crafts geared for children ages six to 12. The Butterfly House is wellknown for its flying creatures, featuring an 8,000-square-foot tropical conservatory with more than 1,000 butterflies in freeflight, representing approximately 80 species from around the world. Learn more about the history of the Lepidoptera, the large order of insects

that includes today’s butterflies and moths, which first appeared around 160 million years ago. Music Goo, Goo Dolls rolling into St. Louis Veteran rockers will be joined by Switchfoot at Family Arena By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge Hard to believe that John Rzenik and Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls have been making music together for for 24 years, but it is the truth. 2010 marks the 24th year since founding members Rzeznik and Takac first started playing music together. Joined for the past 15 years by drummer Mike Malinin, the Goo Goo Dolls will be touring in support of their ninth studio album, “Something for the Rest of Us.” Written and recorded over the past couple of years, the album delivers another dose of great Goo songs such as “Sweetest Lie,” “One Night,” and “Soldier.” With his songwriting, Rzeznik confronts some of the issues that have become part of many people’s everyday lives. Most bands that were around in 1986 have come and gone. A lot of trends came and went. But through it all the Goo Goo Dolls have been able to survive and stay relevant. So as the trends come and go, or when the world gets caught up in the latest celebrity gossip, there will always be people hungry for songs that speak to them. And those are the people the Goo Goo Dolls are talking to. “The Rest of Us.” Switchfoot, an American alternative rock group from San Diego, Calif., got their start with the Christian rock

scene in the early 2000s. In 2002, their success became mainstream with the inclusion of four of the songs used in the movie “A Walk to Remember.” This led to signing with a major label. Their next release “The Beautiful Letdown” was released in 2003 and went on to sell over 2.6 million copies and produced the band’s best-known singles, “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move.” According to frontman Jon Foreman, who also plays guitar for the group, the name “Switchfoot” is a surfing term. Since all the members of the group loves to surf, the name just made sense for them. The band has completed their seventh studio album, “Hello Hurricane,” which released in North America on Nov. 10, 2009. Other members of the band include Tim Foreman on bass and backing vocals, Chad Butler on drums and percussion, Jerome Fontamillas on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals, and Drew Shirley on guitar and backing vocals. The group is known for their energetic live shows, making them one of the nation’s most popular concert bands. Both the Goo Goo Dolls and Switchfoot will be touching down at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. The Family Arena in St. Charles is on Arena Parkway, from Interstate 70, take the South Fifth Street exit and follow the signs to Arena Parkway. At the age of 13, I formed my own band where I p l a y e d t h e n i g h t - c l u b c i rc u i t i n C h i c a g o . A f t e r a u d i t i o n i n g for the Rupert’s night-club chain, I was given the spot of lead vocalist, for which I worked five nights a week for two years in Minneapolis. That was where I was discovered by Morris Day and the Time’s guitarist Jesse Johnson. From there I was the lead vocalist for the band Da-Krash, which was a hard hitting funk-rock band that spawned two hit singles. The first single was ‘Wasn’t I Good to You,’ which went to No. 17. From there I went back to Chicago to perform with the Roy Vombrach Orchestra, booking exclusive downtown engagements. Then I moved on to California as the frontman for the band “The Dirty Diapers” that opened for Bootsy Collins at the House of Blues. I played the Troubador and performed with George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars. My music endeavors brought me to St. Louis, where I performed lead and background vocals for the top local band Dr. Zhivegas. Tuning in Chamber Chorus to close out season “Home-Thoughts from Abroad” is certainly a fitting title for this final concert of the 54th Saint Louis Chamber Chorus season. The Chorus revisits its English roots and welcomes back Artistic Director Philip Barnes from nearly a year in his native England singing with the Norwich Cathedral Choir. Forming the heart of the program is the Mass for five voices by William Byrd, a perfect example of polyphony from the time Queen Elizabeth I. Interspersed among the Mass’s movements are hymns motets and partsongs exploring the concept of “home.” These include Benjamin Britten’s “Hymn to St. Cecilia,” written as the composer made his way home to wartime Britain, and Herbert Howells’ patriotic “Inheritance.” Other music from England includes two settings of Robert Browning poetry by Greville Cooke, as well the world premiere of “Exaltbo” by Dr. Magnus Williamson and commissioned for this concert by the Chamber Chorus. Of course, “home” means different places for different people. So, the program also features music from far beyond British shores. Sydney Guillaume of Haiti offers a prayer for his tragedy-ridden home and Howard Helvey sets the lyrical poetry of St. Louisan Sara Teasdale to music written specifically for the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus. Join the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus for the final concert of its 54th season, “Home-Thoughts from Abroad,” will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30 at Christ Church Cathedral. Parking is free. “Iron Man 2”

Lots of things get blown up and torn apart in “Iron Man 2,” as you would expect from any self-respecting blockbuster kicking off the summer movie season. The magnitude of destruction far exceeds that of its predecessor and includes repeated instances of characters walking away from a massive fireball without looking back. ’Cause looking back is for wimps. But that’s not all that gets obliterated here. The substance of the original “Iron Man,” the brain and the soul that set it apart from the typical seasonal fare and made it one of the best films of 2008, also have been blown to bits. Tony Stark had purpose back then, and despite the outlandish fantasy of his Marvel Comics-inspired story, as a person he had a believable arc. Here, he’s purely arrogant once more, with some glimmers of mortality and daddy issues. And Robert Downey Jr., so irresistibly verbal and quick on his feet in the first film (and in pretty much every film he’s ever made), seems to be on autopilot. Sure, he’s got a way with a one-liner, and his comic timing is indisputable, but he’s done this songand-dance routine before and seems rather bored with it. Then again the character — and the sequel itself — are less defined this time. Narratively, “Iron Man 2” is a mess. Director Jon Favreau, working from a script by Justin Theroux, throws in too many subplots, too many characters. Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson are among the crowded supporting cast. RATED: PG-13 for sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence, and some language. RUNNING TIME: 124 min. 2-D only. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: Two stars out of four.

“Just Wright”

It’s clear we’re in fantasyland early when the New Jersey Nets play their home opener in front of a sold-out, raucous crowd on their way to winning the Eastern Conference championship. And the whole world — not just the sports media but also the trashy gossip magazines — is fascinated by the team’s star player, Scott McKnight (rapper Common). As fantasies go, though, this is a superfamiliar one — it’s the Cinderella fairy tale, set in the basketball world — and director Sanaa Hamri and writer Michael Elliot don’t breathe much new life into it. Pity, too, because Hamri made a surprisingly refreshing romantic comedy, “Something New,” just a few years ago. “Just Wright,” on the other hand, is full of cliches,

contrivances and stock characters. And a bland performance from producer and star Queen Latifah does nothing to elevate the material. Ordinarily a bold and engaging personality, Latifah plays it safe and sweet as physical therapist Leslie Wright, who’s in her mid-30s but has never fallen in love because men always perceive her as more of a pal. When Scott suffers a career-threatening knee injury, guess who rehabilitates him? Paula Patton co-stars as Leslie’s gold-digging best friend. RATED: PG for some suggestive material and brief language. RUNNING TIME: 111 min. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: One and a half stars out of four.

“Letters to Juliet”

The doomed heroine of “Romeo and Juliet” is the nominal inspiration for this unbearably predictable romance that would profane her name if it were not lifted a notch by the graceful, if inexplicable, presence of Vanessa Redgrave. The movie takes viewers on a road trip through the gorgeous Italian countryside, which at least makes it pretty to look at. But Amanda Seyfried and Redgrave are stranded along the romantic byways in this phony story. Director Gary Winick and screenwriter Jose Rivera pile on contrivances relating to letters from the lovelorn written to Juliet, including one composed half a century earlier that brings Seyfried and Redgrave together on a quest for a lost love. Every turn of the movie is obvious and expected, even insufferable (there will be more than a few groans when audiences see where the climax takes place). Gael Garcia Bernal and Christopher Egan co-star. RATED: PG for brief rude behavior and sensual images, some language and incidental smoking. RUNNING TIME: 105 min. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: One and a half stars out of four.

“Looking for Eric”

Turns out Ken Loach, master of British social drama, is a funny guy. Loach has woven humor into some of his past films dealing with the poor and the working-class. But with this soccer-themed fantasy, the director leavens themes of spousal abandonment, gang violence and mental instability with a truly wacky spirit. That spirit derives mainly from the film’s

two Erics — British postman-on-the-verge-of-going-postal Eric Bishop (Steve Evets) and French soccer star Eric Cantona, playing himself as an imaginary friend and spiritual guide to his troubled namesake. Eric the postman is a wreck, in need of inspiration amid the emotional baggage left by a first wife he abandoned, a second wife who abandoned him and the two unruly stepsons left in his care. Evets and Cantona are wonderful together, joined by a cast of supporting mugs for a sparkling tale about a man reclaiming his sense of self and learning the importance of letting friends pitch in to take care of some of life’s dirty business. RATED: Not rated but contains adult language, some violence, drug use and brief nudity. RUNNINT TIME: 117 min. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: Three stars out of four.

“Robin Hood”

Darth Vader. Batman. Captain James T. Kirk. Now another legendary figure gets the origin-story treatment in Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood.” The world probably didn’t need another version of this famous tale, even though it arrives with outstanding production values and an impeccable pedigree. Besides Scott, the script comes from Oscarwinning “L.A. Confidential” writer Brian Helgeland, and the heavyweight cast is anchored by Russell Crowe as the title character and Cate Blanchett as Marian. (Solid supporting work comes from Mark Strong, William Hurt, Eileen Atkins, Matthew Macfadyen and the excellent Max von Sydow.) This Robin Hood is not a man in tights — he’s not even robbing from the rich and giving to the poor just yet — but rather an expert archer in the crusading army of King Richard the Lionheart (Danny Huston) at the turn of the 13th century. Working with “Gladiator” director Scott for the fifth time, Crowe is hulking and overly serious, and the same can be said of “Robin Hood” itself. With its sweeping scope and tangible grittiness, it does look great. But then the brawny battle scenes, which set this incarnation apart from its lilting and swashbuckling predecessors, are shot and edited in such a chaotic, choppy way, it’s nearly impossible to tell what’s happening. of the first film, the whole world knows that Stark is indeed Iron Man. Now the government (led by Garry Shandling as a sniveling senator) wants him to turn over the suit for the military’s benefit, and his best friend, Lt. Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Cheadle in place of Terrence Howard) can only do so much to protect him. Meantime, there’s a new foe in the

form of Russian bad guy Ivan Vanko (Rourke, buried beneath tattoos and a Boris-and-Natasha accent), who’s built a suit of his own in his dank Siberian abode, complete with electrified tentacles; sadly, he and fellow acting heavyweight Downey spend most of their screen time apart. In no time, Stark’s rival, Justin Hammer (Rockwell, turning on the smarm) snaps up Vanko and asks

him to build an army of Iron Men for himself. “Iron Man 2” also tries to find time for the blossoming relationship between Stark and his right-hand woman, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), while dangling the possibility of a dalliance with a mysterious new assistant (Scarlett Johansson). So yeah, there’s a lot going on here.

“Robin Hood” probably isn’t what you think By ROBERT GRUBAUGH Of The Edge Love was in the air as Hollywood released three new pictures that featured romance as a major underlying theme. Kudos should be given to Queen Latifah for making the sports montage-laden “Just Wright” at lot better than it should have been. Her co-star, rapper-actor Common, helped turn the story about an injured pro basketball player falling for his rehabilitation trainer feel a lot less than the “same old thing” it could have been. Something similar can be said of “Letters to Juliet,” a show I attended a few weeks ago and liked very much. Amanda Seyfried continues to show that she is a very competent star who can anchor a film as well as her more widely touted peers. Her chemistry with costar Christopher Egan was nice, but paled in comparison to that of Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero, her real life husband, who plays her uncredited true love in the movie. I hadn’t expected that the theme of love would

carry over into “Robin Hood,” the weekend’s third new film, but I was wrong. That’s mostly what it’s about. Ridley Scott directs Robin Hood, and Russell Crowe stars in it, much in the style that the two made such waves with in “Gladiator” ten years ago. It’s a tense movie that involves many great scenes that really put ‘spectacle’ back into ‘spectacular ’. Depiction of the Crusades is very gritty and laying siege to a castle over the first twenty minutes feels oddly realistic (sorry, I’ve never had that pleasure).

There is also a great battle at end of the picture that sets rebels on the white cliffs of Dover against a fleet of invading forces from across England’s famous channel. For action fans, though, that’s about all you get. While the siege and sacking are fantastic, they don’t define this movie at all. As Robin Longstride (Crowe) nears the end of his service to King Richard the Lionheart (Danny Huston), conquering their way back to England, he becomes disillusioned by pledging allegiance to a man who is a bad leader and worse soldier. He breaks off with a group of allies and makes his way back home on his own mission. Joining him are Little John (Kevin Durand, of TV’s “Lost”), Will Scarlet (Scott Grimes), and Allan A’Dayle (Alan Doyle), brethren to the legend that we’ve seen and heard for hundreds of years. For the sake of this film they mainly are comic relief, alongside the cherubic and charming Friar Tuck (Mark Addy). Upon returning to his Nottingham home,

a region he hardly recognizes, Robin meets the Lady Marion Loxley (Cate Blanchett), a woman whose deceased husband made a lasting impression on Longstride. The Lady makes one on our hero as well. By assisting in the protection of her village, and striking up a rapport with the blind master of the estate (Max von Sydow, with great dialogue), Robin earns the mantle of Robert of Loxley. Under this guise he returns order to a place that had suffered too much under the inept Sheriff (Matthew Macfadyen) and the plotting Prince John (Oscar Isaac). This leads ultimately to his banishment into hiding as the great folk hero Robin the Hood, but don’t expect to see any of those exploits in this movie. That action takes place at a future time. I was impressed by both this choice in narrative style and the relative secrecy with which they revealed it through the film’s marketing. The expected stories of Robin Hood would truly necessitate a sequel, but to make one would do this drama great injustice.

Paramount pins hopes on Aang NEW YORK (AP) — The hopes of many are resting on the shoulders of 12-year-old Aang. Ever since he first came out of a block of ice in the Nickelodeon cartoon series “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” the other tribes in his fictional, Asian-inspired world saw Aang and his power over the elements as their last chance for peace after a century of conflict. Now Paramount Pictures and director M. Night Shyamalan also have high hopes for Aang: that he will attract audiences to see their big-screen — and big budget — version of “The Last Airbender,” opening July 2. Yet fans of the original TV series say whatever hopes they had for the live-action movie have been dashed by what is known as “whitewashing” — the selection of white actors to fill the main hero roles instead of the people of color they say the source material requires. “To take this incredibly loved c h i l d re n ’ s s e r i e s , a n d re a l l y distort not only the ethnicity of the individual characters but the message of acceptance and cultural diversity that the original series advocated, is a huge blow,” said Michael Le of Racebending.com, a fan site calling for a boycott of the martial-arts fantasy. Paramount defends the film’s casting, noting more than half of the credited speaking roles were filled by people of color. “Night’s vision of ’The Last A i r b e n d e r ’ i n c l u d e s a l a rg e and ethnically diverse cast that represents cultures from around the world,” Paramount said in a statement. That doesn’t impress the movie’s critics, who claim most of that diversity is found among secondary characters and background extras. They say “Airbender” casting is just the latest example of a long history in Hollywood of demeaning people of color — from having white actors in makeup portray minorities to sidelining them in second-tier roles to replacing them entirely, as they say is the case with “Airbender.” They point to examples like the 2008 film “21,” which was based on a book inspired by the true-life story of a mostly Asian American group of card players, yet was cast with mostly white actors in the main roles. They also note this weekend’s release of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” a live-action adaptation of a video game that stars white actor Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role instead of an actor with a Middle Eastern background. “This part really needed to go to someone who’s Persian,” said Jehanzeb Dar, a blogger and independent filmmaker who is a fan of the video game but has no intention of supporting the movie. “It’s not only insulting to Persians,

it’s also insulting to white people. It’s saying white people can’t enjoy movies unless the protagonist is white,” he said. Disney did not return an e-mail asking for comment on the casting. “It becomes very clear that it’s part of the historical pattern of Hollywood and it’s not an isolated incident and it’s not because they happen to be fictional characters,” Le said. “It’s because this is the standard procedure for Hollywood films, and it really shouldn’t be. It’s 2010.” But 2010 is also a time of huge stakes in the movie business — when only a small fraction of the films that are released make the vast majority of the industry’s profits, said economics professor Arthur De Vany, author or “Hollywood Economics: How Extreme Uncertainty Shapes the Film Industry.” Because of the financial risk, studios try to control anything that goes into a movie before its release in an effort to maximize box office receipts — from the storyline to

the cast to the marketing, De Vany explained. “ T h e y ’ re t r y i n g t o c o n t ro l the initial conditions of a chaotic process,” he said. “There’s only so much room at the top.” During the era of segregation in

this country, Hollywood routinely considered race when making and releasing a film. For example, actress Lena Horne, who died May 9 at 92, saw her parts in movies cut out when those films were shown in the South.

Over time, “it’s what has become habitual practice,” said Chon Noriega, professor of cinema and media studies at UCLA. “I think it’s the default setting and it takes a conscious choice to change,” he said.

Vatican Splendors Timeless treasures on display at the Missouri History Museum By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge St. Louis and its surrounding communities are fortunate to be chosen as the first stop out of three selected cities to host the Vatican Splendors exhibit. St. Paul, Minn., and Cleveland, Ohio, will be the two other selected cities to host the exhibit. After these exhibits, the items must return to the Vatican, from which they cannot be absent for more than a year. Running May 15, 2010, through Sept. 12, 2010, this exhibit reaches across denominations to share 2,000 years of Vatican art and history, presented through extraordinary works by artists such as Michelangelo and Bernini. These are the objects marking the most significant moments in the history of the papacy and the Vatican. Many items have never before been on public view. “Vatican Splendors: A Journey

through Faith and Art” is comprised of nearly 200 rare artworks, historical objects and cultural artifacts from the collections of the Vatican, many of which have never been allowed outside of Rome, and including special objects never before on display, even at the Vatican. The collection includes mosaics, p a i n t i n g s ; frescoes, works by well-known sculptors, intricately embroidered silk vestments, precious objects from the Papal Mass, historical maps and documents and historical objects f ro m t h re e major basilicas in Rome. The exhibition is organized into 11 galleries that illustrate the evolution of the Church and its papacy beginning with Saint Peter through the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI, with thematic a re a s h i g h l i g h t i n g i m p o r t a n t developments, moments, people and events tied to the history of

t h e C a t h o l i c C h u rc h a n d t h e Vatican, reflected in both important historical objects and artistic expression from different eras. The objects are presented in galleries and recreated environments that enhance the visitor ’s understanding of their historical and artistic significance. Exhibition designers want visitors to feel transported to the Vatican, from the underground catacombs where the remains of Saint Peter were discovered to the magnificent papal chambers found above ground. From the sights and sounds of the grand Basilica to a touchable cast of John Paul II’s hand, the exhibition is a multisensory experience. Maternity wardrobes beyond maternity NEW YORK (AP) — Much is made of the non-maternity clothes an expectant mother can wear during pregnancy — the wrap dresses, the leggings, the boxy shift dress-turned-tunic top — but some maternity clothes also do double duty once the baby is born, especially in the period not always affectionately dubbed “the fourth trimester.” “For the four months after the baby, most women are in their fourth trimester. It’s camouflage-clothes redux,” says Amy Tara Koch, author of the new book “Bump It Up,” published by Ballantine Books. “You don’t want to look fat, but you don’t have the bump to hide behind.” The loose, long cardigan is a must. “The beauty of a draped cardigan — look for one without buttons — is it hangs down off you,” says Paula Motte, senior editor at BabyCenter. com. “It the wardrobe essential that takes you through pregnancy and beyond. You look for one with drape-y, forgiving fabric in a cottonstretch blend, and you wear it over everything.” Koch likes the look of the sweater, especially post-baby, because as your shape slims, the sweater just looks longer. “The biggest mistake most women make is proportion. It’s an understandable mistake, you feel gigantic so you wear gigantic clothes. But that makes you immediately look frumpy,” she says. With that key sweater, wear leggings, Koch suggests, which also complement tunics. The opposite

silhouette also can work: a long maxi skirt with a slim tank top. “You need volume control,” insists Koch. Actress Leigh-Allyn Baker started work on her new Disney show “Good Luck Charlie,” in which she plays the mother of an infant, right after her own son was born. “I had to invest when I was pregnant in great jeans. I got Joe’s Jeans, which are made for curvy people anyway. I wore them up until a few months ago — long after the baby. They don’t press on your belly because they’re low-slung and have no waistband, but they show off the legs,” Baker said. Some premium denim lines have maternity lines, Koch says, but you can also take jeans you already own to the tailor and have them put in a panel of pantyhose fabric or Spandex over the belly. Those will become your go-to jeans, even postpregnancy, she says. And if you buy them a little bigger than your pre-pregnancy size, no one has to know, Motte adds. “Your tailor is your friend. Buy clothes that fit you now — even if it’s not the size you wore before being pregnant. You’ll have clothes to go the distance, and you can always remove side stretchy panels or have seams taken in or out.” Since her belly was biggest in the summer, Baker bought bikini separates to accommodate the vastly different sized top and bottom of her body. Her biggest “expansion” came at the bustline so she sized up there and bought

“Full Spectrum” New exhibit opens at Main Street Art Gallery By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge The Main Street Art Gallery is pleased to be once again be presenting an exhibit that displays the talents of some local artists. “Full Spectrum,” the latest art exhibit at Main Street Art Gallery, is currently open and runs through Saturday, June 5. The participating artists offer a broad range of art and artistic backgrounds. Arthur Towata, a prominent Madison County artist, has his ceramics in the gallery. A trip to Manzanar War Relocation Center in Owens Valley, Calif., several years ago, held poignant moments for Arthur. Earthy colors, rough textures and scraggly shapes in the desert landscape bore an uncanny resemblance to his ceramic pieces he has been creating for decades. Sun Smith-Foret has combined her love of films with paint and mixed media to create her quilts/ wall hangings. Both quilts and films represent human expression from the popular domain, both are labor intensive requiring collaborative effort over significant periods of time. “Like movies, quilts are made up of bits and pieces – tiny acts of choice and accident – of assembly, of repeated additions and edits until

there is a wrap.” Another mixed media artist in this show is Sarah Shoot. Sarah is a gatherer. She combines silk, cotton, vintage prints with found elements such as postcards, old maps and rusty tin punctuating her collages and echoing her inspiration from patterns and colors in nature. Eric Gray has created a body of work around his home in Elsah. He creates “a visual conversation between austerity and ecstasy.” He uses a variety of mediums from ink on paper to oils to mixed media on paper in a soft color palette of hues. “My art is an attempt at representing the natural balance of my more ordered influences with my more chaotic ones. It is a quest to be free of constraints. It is finding that order and chaos are not mutually exclusive, but dependent on each other.” M o v i n g f ro m t h e p a i n t e r l y

structural images of Eric’s, we have Meg Solon’s realistic photographs of three very architecturally distinct barns in Idaho. Meg’s barns sit proudly in their rural landscape. She also has two other landscapes that boast the warm light of a California vineyard and a watery scape of a French harbor. Lisa Becker manipulates glass in the heat of a 1,700-degree kiln. She combines her expertise in compatibility, gravity and temperature, control as well as color placement and reaction. Her glass sculptures are inspired by the shapes and textures in nature, lines in architecture and human form. Metalsmither, Nancy Davis, has incorporated cast tools; hammers, wrenches and pliers to dangle from earrings and necklaces. This use of tools reinforces her ordinary objects into fanciful jewelry of adornment. S h e h a s a l s o c re a t e d s e v e r a l necklaces with verdigris hearts and set stones with hand made chain. As Lisa Becker stated in her artist statement; “Since the beginning of time, art has spanned

cultures, giving us perspective to life, and defining human identity. Technology has propelled is into a new environment. For artists, we have found new materials, new techniques to allow us to push the limits on design and fabrication on artistic mediums that are centuries old, such as glass. Continuing on to the future, I hope our future generations embrace art to carry on the tradition of reminding us of the richness of our world.” T h e s h o w “ F u l l S p e c t ru m ” encapsulates this statement. The Main Street Art Gallery has always been a great proponent of local art and works very hard to give artists a home venue to share their works. The gallery is located at 237/239 Main Street in Edwardsville and shares the company of “Bead-It,” a jewelry and bead supply store. In February 1990 Mr. Koetting moved the dealership to its present location at Rt 3 and Pontoon Road. Koetting Ford has an award winning Service Department, Parts Department, and state of the art Body Shop. Koetting Ford now has 38 employees who all live in and around the Granite City area. Travel briefs N.Y. group promotes "Gold Coast" mansions GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (AP) — The operators of some of Long Island’s Gold Coast mansions are trying to make it easier for tourists to see the stately rooms and gardens that housed some of the country’s wealthiest people. The Gold Coast Mansion Alliance is launching a marketing campaign, similar to the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island. The goal is to attract worldwide publicity, encourage tourism and film productions at the sites. The alliance features a new website that lists some of the Gold Coast mansions that are open to tourist visits. The mansions include Oheka Castle, Old Westbury Gardens, Eagle’s Nest-Vanderbilt Museum, Planting Fields-Coe Hall, Glen Cove Mansion, Sands Point Preserve, and Chelsea Mansion. The website also features a page about “Historic Homes for Sale, “ a list of Long Island tour guides, and an events calendar that will be updated monthly.

Milwaukee museum features quilt exhibition MILWAUKEE (AP) — A new exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum will feature one of the

world’s finest collections of early American quilts. Featuring rare textiles of the late 1700s and early 1800s, it’s called “American Quilts: Selections from the Winterthur Collection” and it runs Saturday through September 6. Quilts make political statements, celebrate marriages, and document the textile trade. Many of the 40 quilts were collected Henry Francis du Pont, one of the 20th century’s most avid antique collectors and horticulturists. They were featured in the Winterthur Museum & Country Estate in Delaware. The museum will also present the quilt designed in 1987 by AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin honoring Milwaukee residents who died from AIDS. The NAMES Project Foundation AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on view June 8 through June 20.

Yellowstone’s Dunraven Pass opens Friday YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Dunraven Pass in Yellowstone National Park opened for the season recently. The pass is on the road that connects Tower/Rossevelt and Canyon. At nearly 8,900 feet, it is the highest elevation roadway in Yellowstone. Once the pass opens, all park entrances and interior roads will be open for the season. Park officials

warn that visitors should still be prepared for winter and spring weather conditions and say that snow tires may still be required on some roadways.

Summer in McHenry County By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge Northern Illinois counties are a world apart from their southern Illinois counterparts. There are rolling hills, lake breezes, lakes big and small, and a slightly cooler temperatures for the most part. Although it is only an hour ’s drive from Chicago, McHenry County enjoys the best of both worlds. A bit of suburbia mixed with a bit of rural countryside. Giving visitors and locals plenty of great selections when looking for something great to do. Whether it is a weekend getaway, a pass through stop or a week filled with lots of different events, McHenry Country can fill the bill. McHenry County is where riverside villages and farmland hamlets invite you to escape the city and enjoy an old-fashioned, down-home summer. What could be more nostalgic than a family outing to an authentic drive-in theatre with double feature movies, children’s playground and movie concessions? These under-the-stars venues have been a dying breed, but one still thrives every summer in McHenry County. Drive-in theaters are an American cultural phenomenon. Their popularity peaked in 1958 with more than 4,000 screens nationwide, and suffered a rapid decline in the 1980s with the introduction of cable TV and VCRs. By the millennium, less than 500 remained. However, by 2005, closed theaters began to re-open and new ones were being built. The drive-in is back! The McHenry Outdoor Theater is a survivor. Opened in 1955, it has resisted the area’s rapid development, and still unlocks its gates every evening, May to September, often to capacity crowds of 800 cars. Here you are treated to timehonored American entertainment; family-safe double feature movies al fresco, playground toys for the kids and the smells of hot dogs and popcorn wafting from the concession stand. One later-day improvement to drive-ins comes with the soundtrack. Gone are the steel, monotone speakers which used to hang suspended on your car window. Alfonzo’s Putting the “ah” in Pizza – and a whole lot more By DEBBIE SETTLE Of The Edge One of Madison County’s favorite eating establishments is actually a bit off the beaten path. Alfonzo’s Pizzeria, located at No. 2 Schiber Court, in Maryville, is a prime example that good advertising and good food can mean repeat business even if your location is on a major thoroughfare. Off Vadalbene Road, behind Anderson Hospital, Alfonzo’s has created a “family-fun” complex. Connected to Maryville Fun Tyme – a separate business which includes a putt-putt golf course and batting cages – the whole family can come in to Alfonzo’s and enjoy a great Italian meal and then enjoy some quality time playing a few games or throwing a skee ball or two. Owner Mike Paolucci is the original founder of Alfonzo’s and his delicious Neopolitan-stylepizza and other Italian specialties are what keep people coming back for more. Mike is a third-generation Italian-American who has mixed his chef talents with his heritage and has dedicated himself to providing quality food in a family environment. His menu is packed with amazing cuisine and there are specials throughout the week that can be found on his newly redesigned Web site, www.alfonzospizzeria.com. Here is a “taste” of the fantastic

menu selections. Alfonzo’s Antipasto Salad – Almost an antipasto. On cold crisp lettuce, they slice pepperoni, fresh tomatoes, green and black olives, mushrooms, pimento, two cheeses, onions and their famous house dressing. Appetizers: Buffalo Wings, hot, medium or mild. Alfonzo’s Italian Wings – Italian seasoning rub. Both served with blue cheese or ranch and celery. Other choices include: garlic bread, Fonzo Bits, French fries, nacho basket, chips and salsa, fried zucchini, fried green beans, toasted ravioli, mozzerella “stix” and more. The kid’s menu will satisfy the pickiest eater with chicken tenders and fries, toasted ravioli and fries or “Dog in a Rug” and fries. Pizza: according to their menu, “Alfonzo’s Pizza Pie measures 26 percent larger than other pizza pies!” Their sizes: huge 18-inch jumbo – 12 pieces; half jumbo – six pieces; or a slice - 1/6 Jumbo. Top your pie with extra cheese, green peppers, mushrooms, hamburger, anchovies, tomato basil, sweet peppers, jalapeño peppers, Italian salami, green olives, fresh tomatoes, pineapple, onion, Italian sausage, pepperoni, black olives, Canadian bacon, ham, regular bacon, roasted peppers or banana peppers. One of my personal favorites is the Pizza Margherita, which is fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and spices.

Very good! Or you can try the “Meata” pizza – which includes all of the meats: sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon and regular bacon. Other pizza selections include: • Caponata (egg plant) pizza, egg plant, olives and celery in red sauce. • Bianco (white pizza) low calorie – onions, olive oil, parmesan cheese and spices •Avalanche, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions, sweet pimento, green peppers and mushrooms – anchovies optional. If pasta is your craving, you certainly can fulfill it at Alfonzo’s. All pasta and fish dishes are served with salad and garlic bread. The cannelloni, manicotti and “sampler” are available with white sauce. Choose from tortellini with garlic butter sauce, alfredo, red sauce

or smothered in cheese; jumbo cheese ravioli, baked lasagna, baked cannelloni-meat filled, baked manicotti-cheese filled or the “sampler” – one cheese filled, one meat filled. Enjoy baked cod fish with lemon pepper and garlic butter or baked salmon with a citrus rub if you are looking for a healthier selection. There are eight inch sub sandwiches that are served on fresh baked rolls that are baked on site daily. You can choose most as hot or cold. Maybe a pizza sub with pepperoni, an Italian beef, a turkey club or a meatball sub, just to name a few. Don’t forget to top off with some “Fonzo Zerts” an in house creation that is sure to cure that sweet tooth. Alfonzo’s has a nice selection of wines and beer – draft, bottled or by the pitcher. New cookbooks focus on wonders of pork NEW YORK (A) – Cookbooks these days often sport long taglines. But porkistas are refreshingly to the point. Three letters seem to suffice. “Pig,” by cookbook writer J a m e s Vi l l a s , i s n o t h i n g less than a poem of porcine devotion, an ode to the idea that if everything’s better with bacon, everything else is better with anything hog-related ( t h i n k s k i l l e t c o r n b re a d w i t h cracklin’s). A born-and-bred Southerner, the author offers a jowl-to-tail primer on the animal’s parts and their uses, including 300 recipes. Crisp yet yielding ham croquettes recall bygone menus of southern country clubs, and baked double pork chops stuffed with oysters suggest a rare decadence. A whole chapter is devoted to barbecue, of course. And there’s little regard for what your doctor might think of your meal: see deep-fried marinated pork nuggets. For those of us unlucky enough to have been born outside pig heaven (the South), Villas offers re c i p e s a n d e x p l a n a t i o n s f o r dishes such as snert (pig and pea soup,) Dutch goose (whole roast pig belly,) and frogmore stew (no frogs involved). And while some items may seem unappealing if you weren’t raised with them — livermush and souse (hogs head cheese) a m o n g t h e m — t h e y re v e a l a southern culinary anthropology. The similarly themed “Ham,” by Bruce Weinstein and Mark S c a r b ro u g h , t a k e s a n a r ro w e r approach to the animal, focusing only on the leg. That is, the ham. Part memoir, part confessional, the book makes you wade through a little TMI (too much information) — co-author love spats, an erotic devotion to pork, that they toggle between Eudora Welty and porn sites — before offering up its recipes. B u t o n c e t h e re , t h e a u t h o r s proffer a humorous and sometimes snarky world tour of ham in all its forms. Fresh ham — the chapter for which opens with a laugh-outloud photo of some very, very fresh ham (that is, piglets) — can be roasted with cloves American style, done up with orange flower water a la Morocco, or stewed with annatto seeds as in Peru. The sections on dry cured ham take readers from Old Wo r l d t o N e w Wo r l d w i t h recipes from salty-sweet pasta with caramelized cauliflower and prosciutto to the southern breakfast staple of fried c o u n t r y h a m s t e a k s w i t h re d eye gravy. If the only ham you’ve ever known is the spiral-sliced stuff in the supermarket, you’ll learn that it’s wet cured, or brined ham. Sometimes called “city ham” or “picnic ham,” the authors

serve up appetizing preparations such as a ham-studded macaroni and cheese and sassy jambalaya croquettes. “Pig” by James Villas (Wiley, 2010) “ H a m ” b y B r u c e We i n s t e i n and Mark Scarbrough (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, 2010) ••• These creamy ham croquettes from James Villas’ new cookbook, “Pig: King of the Southern Ta b l e , ” a r e g r e a t a s i s . B u t Villas also encourages cooks to experiment by adding additional ingredients, such as olives, caper and chopped bell pepper. The recipe itself is easy, but it does call for chilling the mixture overnight before forming it into patties. This helps the mixture thicken and hold its shape. If you’re in more of a hurry, and hour or so (with frequent stirring) in the freezer works, too. HAM CROQUETTES WITH PARSLEY SAUCE Start to finish: 30 minutes (plus 24 hours chilling)

Servings: 6 For the croquettes: 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter 3 scallions (white parts only), finely chopped 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, plus extra for dredging 1 1/2 cups milk 4 cups coarsely chopped cooked ham 3 large egg yolks 1 large egg 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 1/4 teaspoon dried sage, crumbled Salt and ground black pepper, to taste 3/4 cup breadcrumbs For the sauce: 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 cup whole milk Salt and ground black pepper, to taste 2 t a b l e s p o o n s m i n c e d f re s h parsley leaves For the croquette coating: 1 l a rg e e g g , b e a t e n w i t h 2 tablespoons water 2 cups fine dry breadcrumbs Peanut oil, for frying

To make the croquettes, in a medium saucepan over medium, melt the butter. Add the scallions a n d f l o u r, t h e n w h i s k u n t i l soft and well blended, about 2 minutes. Whisking rapidly, add the milk. Add the ham, stir well, and remove from the heat. Whisking rapidly, add the egg yolks and whole egg, then return to the heat. Add the mustard, sage, s a l t a n d p e p p e r, t h e n w h i s k until well blended. Stir in the breadcrumbs. Scrape the mixture into a baking dish, cover and refrigerate overnight. When ready to cook, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over low, melt the butter. Add the flour a nd st ir un til a s mo oth p as te forms. Gradually add the milk, stirring until thickened and

smooth, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in t h e s a l t , p e p p e r a n d p a r s l e y, keep the sauce warm over very low heat. Place the egg beaten with w a t e r i n a l a rg e , w i d e b o w l . Place the breadcrumbs in a similar bowl. Use your hands to divide the m i x t u re i n t o 6 b a l l s a n d ro l l lightly in the extra flour. Pat the balls into smooth oval patties. Dip each into the egg wash, then dredge through the breadcrumbs. In a large, heavy skillet over high, heat about 1 inch of oil. Fry the patties until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side, then drain briefly on paper towels Serve the croquettes with the parsley sauce on the side. A successful hearing aid fitting involves more than getting a hearing test, picking the style you want, and putting them in your ear so you can hear normally again, and it can mean the difference between wearing your hearing aids and leaving them in a drawer. The first step is to have your hearing tested. Based on the results of your hearing evaluation and other factors, such as your lifestyle and typical surroundings, your hearing specialist can help you select the most practical hearing aids. Most hearing aids purchased today are adjustable. You may need to work closely with your specialist in order for the proper changes to be made and to achieve optimal results. Therefore, you should choose a hearing specialist you are comfortable with and who is genuinely interested in helping you hear better. Be sure to choose a provider that offers a trial period, so you ca n tr y t he hearing aids in different listening situations, like restaurants and church. Also, ask about re-stocking fees or other hidden costs. Word of mouth is another a good indicator, so ask other people where they went to get their hearing aids. If you follow the above suggestions when choosing a hearing instrument specialist, you are likely to see positive results with your new hearing aids and will be happy that you finally took the BIG step to better hearing. How do I know if I need a hearing aid? Most people don’t realize they have a hearing loss because it occurs gradually. Instead, they claim others just don't speak clearly. Why is there such a difference in the price of hearing aids? All hearing aids look alike from the outside, but it's the circuitry inside that makes them different. An automobile can be used as an example; within each model the consumer has a choice 4 or 6-cylinder engines, trim, and interiors. So, although they look alike on the outside, they are priced completely different. Prices also vary depending on the style, optional features, and length of warranty chosen, as well as the extent of service after the purchase. Baby Boomers—those born between 1947 and 1964 may be particularly susceptible to hearing loss because of their lifelong exposure to loud music and other noise. Research shows that people often feel isolated and insecure, experience disruptions in family life, and even make less money as a result of their hearing loss. The good news is that hearing loss can be easily diagnosed and can be corrected up to 95% of the time with hearing aids.

Choosing a college or university is an important, very personal decision that you should research extensively. Crucial selection criteria can help when sorting through admission catalogues, or visiting Web sites or local college fairs. Prepare a list of five to seven schools, advises Joni Bastian, assistant vice president for student affairs and director of retention services at McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill. “You may want to include both larger and smaller institutions if you are unsure about the size of the campus you want to attend,” she noted. Admission counselors will guide you through the decision process but before you apply, consider the following: Does the college offer quality academic programs? Colleges offer a wide variety of academic programs, from liberal arts to pre-professional. If a college does not list your major but you are interested in other programs, there may be an opportunity to minor, get an emphasis, pursue independent study or self-design a major. Undecided on a major? Consider a liberal arts curriculum that will expose you to many subjects as you complete general education requirements. Ask what services the school provides for helping students decide on a major. “Remember that it is common to change your major and that it is fine to not know what you want to study your first year,” Bastian said. Make sure you meet academic requirements for application. Many colleges and universities require qualified ACT or SAT scores, writing proficiency examinations, college preparatory courses, and high school grade point average minimums. How will you pay for tuition? Schools offer a variety of scholarships in academics, athletics and co-curricular involvement. Independent scholarships, grants and private aid are available by applying directly through the groups offering support. Complete the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine state and federal support available based on your family or personal income. Will you live on campus? Living on campus makes it easier to meet people and get involved. Some schools require first and second-year students to live in campus housing; some do not allow them to have vehicles on campus; and others offer limited housing. Compare the cost of room and board to that of commuting from home or living in town. Do you need special attention? A small student-to-faculty ratio offers more opportunity to participate actively in class, know your professors and receive personal attention. Many colleges and universities offer tutoring programs or special testing environments to help students achieve academically. If accessibility is an issue, inquire about ways to get around the campus. Where is the school located? Location is important not only for commuter students but also those who want to get involved in the community. It can also affect the availability of internships and employment opportunities. Urban area colleges and universities may be accessible via public transportation; however, some students may not feel comfortable living in a big city. Suburban schools offer convenient access to the city but transportation may be limited. Rural environments may be considered safe but offer limited professional and cultural opportunities. Students who live on campus should account for the cost and means of traveling to and from home for special occasions, holidays and spring breaks. Does the college offer co-curricular activities or athletics that interest you? Co-curricular activities and athletics expand students’ participation on campus. Ways to get involved include student government, residence life, campus activities, special interest organizations, campus ministries, intercollegiate competition, forensics and debate, Model United Nations, and academic pursuits such as honor societies, the college newspaper, literary magazine, band or orchestra. Consider the athletic events you that like to participate in or watch. Schools offer various levels of intercollegiate athletic competition; some may only offer intramural sports. Social Greek fraternities and sororities are another way to meet others on campus. Colleges and universities often have special housing for their larger Greek organizations. Other fraternities or sororities focus on community service. Participation in service learning can strengthen students’ resumes, offering opportunities to gain leadership, public speaking, budget management and

planning experience. Why visit a campus? Visiting the institution is very important, stresses Bastian. “Often you can tell immediately if the institution is a good match or not, just by how friendly the campus community is during the visit.” Try to visit at least twice. Arrange the first with an admission counselor. Request a campus tour that includes a visit to the dorms (if needed) and an opportunity to meet with a faculty member in your academic field. If time permits, Bastian suggests attending an event which is open to the public, such as fine arts or sports. “This offers a great opportunity to talk to people about the institution in an informal setting,” she said. Check campus Web sites for special event calendars. Talk with alumni and current students. Get to know other prospective students as well as students currently enrolled. Some Admission Offices host Facebook groups, where prospective students can chat with current students about the institutions. What’s next?
