Beyond the train excursions, Union Station owner Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) has announced major changes and enhancements designed to transform the National Historic Landmark train station by adding new attractions, trainthemed guest rooms and food outlets, an outdoor plaza and much more The project will transform the property's existing indoor and outdoor retail and entertainment spaces, positioning Union Station as one of the region's premiere gathering and entertainment destinations. The site will feature a 200-foot-tall observation wheel, a new food-train park under the facility's massive train shed, added green spaces, light shows and a fountain and fire show at the lake as a focal point of the new outdoor experience. About Union Station St. Louis Union Station opened in 1894 and closed in October 1978. After a $140 million renovation and restoration, the station was reopened in 1985. Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) purchased the National Historic Landmark in October 2012. Since the purchase, LHM has invested more than $40 milli on in the property, renovating the historic Grand Hall to include an award-winning 3-D projection mapping light show,
new furnishings and a 65-foot-long bar. The station's Midway has been re-established as a convention and exhibit hall and the property's 539 hotel rooms and public spaces have been upgraded. The hotel has been rebranded as the St. Louis Union Station Hotel - a DoubleTree by Hilton under LHM's ownership. History The station opened to the public on September 1, 1894 and was owned by the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis. Designed by Theodore Link, it included three main areas: the Headhouse, the Midway and the 11.5-acre train shed. The Headhouse originally housed a hotel, a Fred Harvey restaurant, passenger waiting rooms and railroad ticketing offices. It featured a gold-leafed Grand Hall surrounded by Romanesque arches and topped with a 65-foot barrel-vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows. Union Station's Headhouse and Midway are constructed of Indiana limestone and initially included 42 tracks. At its height, the station combined the St Louis passenger services of 22 railroads, the most of any single terminal in the world. It was the world's largest and busiest railroad station when it opened in 1894 and its train shed was noted as the largest roof span in the world. In 1903, the station was expanded to accommodate visitors to the 1904 St Louis World's Fair.

Franklin headlines St. Mary's gala For The Edge Cedric the Entertainer (also known as Cedric Kyles) announced today that legendary 18 Grammy Award winner Aretha Franklin will headline his third annual An Evening with Cedric the Entertainer and Friends gala to benefit SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. The event, presented by World Wide Technology Foundation and the Steward Family Foundation will be held Saturday, October 22 at the Peabody Opera House. “We are thrilled to be back for our third year of support as presenting sponsor of the Cedric the Entertainer and Friends gala, and look forward to a unforgettable performance by Aretha Franklin,” said David Steward, chairman and co-founder of World Wide Technology, Inc. “We are grateful for the community support of women’s health services and honored to be a part of paying homage to Cedric’s mother, who fought so bravely in her battle.” Ms. Franklin is both a 20th and 21st century musical and cultural icon known the world over simply by her first name: Aretha. The reigning and undisputed “Queen Of Soul” has created an amazing legacy that spans an incredible six decades, from her first recording as a teenage gospel star, to her current RCA Records release, Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics. Her many countless classics include “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Chain Of Fools,” “I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)”; her own compositions “Think,” “Daydreaming” and “Call Me”; her definitive versions

of “Respect” and “I Say A Little Prayer”; and global hits like “Freeway Of Love,” “Jump To It,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me),” her worldwide chart-topping duet with George Michael, and “A Rose Is Still A Rose.” The event will support the Rosetta Boyce Kyles Women’s Pavilion at SSM Health St. Mary’s, named in honor of Cedric’s mother, who lost her battle with cancer in June 2015. SSM Health St. Mary’s is a comprehensive place for women to receive care in traditional areas of obstetrics, gynecology, breast disease and oncology care, but also in areas as diverse as sports medicine, depression and heart disease. Plans were also announced for signage honoring his mother to be erected at the hospital’s Clayton location. The evening will also feature a comedic performance from Cedric himself, who currently stars as the quirky & funny Reverend Boyce ‘The Voice’ Ballentine in TV Land’s original hit sitcom “The Soul Man,” which he co-created and executive-produces. Cedric was most recently seen co-starring with Ice Cube in the #1-ranked box office hit "BarberShop: The Next Cut" and appeared opposite Chris Rock in the acclaimed comedy feature "Top Five." He will next be seen in the upcoming comedy feature "Why Him?" co-starring opposite Oscar nominated actors Bryan Cranston and James Franco. “I am so excited to have the iconic Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, performing at this year's Gala! - - total R-E-S-P-E-C-T! ... It's going to be an amazing night!” said Cedric. “My sister Sharita and I are honored to carry on my mother’s legacy through this event,

Director of photography James Neihouse, ASC, served as the astronaut training manager. Veiled Prophet Parade announced
The Veiled Prophet Organization has officially announced that the 134th annual VP Parade will take place in Downtown St. Louis, returning America’s Biggest Birthday Parade to its original location after two years in Forest Park. The Parade will begin at 7th and Market streets at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, kicking off a weekend of Independence Day celebrations. Fair St. Louis, set for July 2-4, will remain in Forest Park for 2016 and will feature three days of family-friendly activities, food, live music, fireworks, and more. “We are deeply grateful to Forest Park for its support in hosting the Parade for the past two years, said Jim Hetlage, Grand Marshal of the 2016 Parade. “The Parade has historically been a civic point of pride for the City of St. Louis. We are thrilled to return to Downtown and work alongside Fair Saint Louis in Forest Park to host a true, city-wide Fourth of July celebration with these events. “Big things are happening in Downtown St. Louis, and we are delighted the 2016 VP Parade will return to its traditional location in the heart of Downtown, near
the new National Blues Museum and CityArchRiver, said City of St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay. Hetlage also announced that the theme of this year ’s Parade is “Hats Off to Heroes. “We are excited to present a tribute to Americans from all walks of life whose everyday contributions make them heroes in their communities, he said. “The P a r a d e w i l l c e l e b r a t e h e ro e s in every shape and form, from military officers and veterans, to first responders, to blue collar workers, to school teachers, to parents, and all those in between. “The Parade is a celebration of our city, our region and our country, and a symbol of pride of the St. Louis community, said Missy Kelley, President and CEO of the Downtown STL, Inc. “It’s an enduring tradition, and one of America’s oldest and largest Independence Day celebrations. We are proud to support it. The Parade will feature a procession of 130 units—including 14 major floats with live musical performances—that will march west on Market Street from 7th Street to 20th Street, involving more than 300 singers and dancers, giant helium balloons, community
groups and military units. The celebration will also feature the 2016 Liberty Drum Challenge, one of the premier high school band competitions in the region, with 12 local high school bands competing for $10,000 in cash prizes. Changes to the 2016 Parade route from prior years will ensure safety for spectators in the midst of ongoing improvements and construction at the Gateway Arch and Kiener Plaza. The 2016 Parade will start at Kiener Plaza and pass by landmarks such as City Garden, the Carnahan Courthouse, City Hall, Peabody Opera House and Aloe Plaza. It will finish at the historic Union Station, located at 20th and Market. The Parade route will offer easy access for thousands of individuals and families to view the parade along Market Street. “ T h e V P O rg a n i z a t i o n a n d Fair St. Louis are working handin-hand with the National Park Service, St. Louis Police Department and Fire Department and other local, state, and federal agencies to ensure another safe and fun celebration, said Mayor Slay. As always, Parade officials will designate an accessible Special
Needs Viewing Area for viewers with disabilities. Public parking information will be announced closer to the event. KMOV will broadcast the Parade live from outside Union Station beginning at 10 a.m. on July 2. The VP organization is also working with its broadcast partners to present America’s Biggest Birthday Parade on television throughout the region. For route details and more information, visit VPparade.org and FairSaintLouis.org. The VP is a 138-year-old civic and philanthropic organization founded in 1878 to promote St. Louis and enrich the quality of life for its citizens. Its members, who choose to remain anonymous, provide financial support, leadership and volunteers for various civic projects and not-forprofit agencies. Each year the Organization produces Fair Saint Louis and the VP Parade as well as honoring young college-aged women for their community service and civic involvement at the VP Ball. Religion Religion briefs Trinity Broadcasting's Jan Crouch dies days after stroke
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Televangelist Jan Crouch, who co-founded the Trinity Broadcasting Network with her husband in 1973, has died just days after suffering a stroke. Crouch, instantly recognizable for her mountain of blonde hair, was 78. Her family made the announcement Tuesday on TBN's website. Jan Crouch and her husband, Paul, who died in 2013, started the network by renting air time on an independent California station. Trinity officials say its programming is now carried by over 5,000 television stations. TBN bills itself as the world's largest Christian television network. The family statement says, "Jan Crouch loved many things, but most of all she loved Jesus, and now has seen Him face to face and has experienced His grace in fullness." The Crouches faced criticism for what critics say was their extravagant lifestyle. In 2013, their granddaughter and her husband's uncle sued, alleging financial improprieties. The Crouches dismissed the allegations, and their attorney said the network's spending was in line with its mission to spread the gospel throughout the world.
Providence diocese eliminating fees for marriage annulments
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's diocese is eliminating all fees for marriage annulments in light of comments by Pope Francis that the Catholic church should streamline the

annulment process. The Diocese of Providence said in a statement Tuesday that it hopes eliminating the fees will make it easier for divorced and remarried Catholics to "fully participate in the life of the Church." The $500 cost for marriage annulments in the diocese will be completely eliminated effective July 1, although the diocese says nobody has ever been turned away because of the inability to pay. The diocese says its marriage tribunal reviews more than 100 cases each year. Annulments declare a marriage invalid and treat it as though it never happened. Without an annulment, Catholics cannot remarry in the church.
Gallup diocese nears $25 million in abuse settlement
GALLUP, N.M. (AP) — As its bankruptcy case wraps up, the Catholic Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico, has allocated millions of dollars to compensate victims of clergy sex abuse. The Gallup Independent reports that the diocese's bankruptcy confirmation hearing is scheduled for June 21. The diocese is creating a fund of between $21 million and $25 million to be used for professional fees and settlements with the 57 abuse survivors who led claims in bankruptcy court. Professional fees are now listed at more than $3.6 million and some settlements for abuse claimants are expected to approach $300,000. There are also several non-monetary provisions in the settlement, including letters of apology to be sent to abuse claimants. The Gallup Diocese is also expected to take measures to help prevent clergy sexual abuse in the future.
EU court adviser: Employers can ban Muslim headscarf
LUXEMBOURG (AP) — A senior adviser to the European Court of Justice says a European Union business may prohibit an employee from wearing a Muslim headscarf on the job as long as the ban is based on a general company rule prohibiting visible political or religious symbols in the workplace, and not on prejudice against a particular religion. Advocate General Juliane Kokott issued the opinion Tuesday after a Belgian court asked for clarification on what is prohibited by EU anti-discrimination laws. In the Belgian case, Samira Achbita was fired as a receptionist by a security company after she insisted she should be allowed to work wearing an Islamic headscarf. Achbita has lost her discrimination lawsuit in two Belgian courts and is now before the country's Court of Cassation, which sought the EU court's opinion.
Parents thank God and zoo for retrieving boy from gorilla
CINCINNATI (AP) — The parents of a 4-year-old boy who fell into the gorilla habitat at the Cincinnati Zoo are thanking God for his safety. The male western lowland gorilla was killed Saturday by a special zoo response team that feared the boy's life was in danger. Video taken by zoo visitors showed the gorilla at times appeared to be protective of the boy but also dragged him through the shallow moat.

QuickGlance Movie Reviews
"Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising"
"X-Men: Apocalypse"
Heaven help the next generation of American women if "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" represents what Hollywood thinks of them. In Nicholas Stoller's sequel to his 2014 "Neighbors," even the with-it girls — the ones too freethinking to join a cookie-cutter sorority — are so dumb they make the bros in the first movie look like elder statesmen. Smarts aren't the point, of course — the reason these freshmen strike out on their own, renting a house next to Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, is that they hunger for their very own place to get stoned. But in their awkward attempt to shoehorn these kids into the first pic's formula, Stoller and his writing collaborators care far less about creating believable characters than getting to the next laugh. Those yuks are plentiful enough to ensure a reasonable boxoffice return. But viewers prone to worries about Hollywood's treatment of women — a fair chunk of whom are young students this film wants to attract — may be laughing less loudly than those around them. In an uncharacteristically flat performance, Chloe Grace Moretz plays Shelby, who doesn't fit the Barbie mold at the sorority she's rushing, Phi Lambda. She sticks with rush even after learning that sororities can't host their own parties, and must go to frat houses to get wasted. But at her first such party, the rapey vibe is so intense (is a "No Means Yes!" banner perhaps too subtle a clue?) she and new friends Beth (Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (Beanie Feldstein) decide to start their own club. The search for a party house to call their own leads them to the vacant home next door to Mac and Kelly Radner (Rogen & Byrne), who successfully ran Zac Efron and his crew out in the last picture. RATED: R by the Motion Picture Association of America for "crude sexual content including brief graphic nudity, language throughout, drug use and teen partying." RUNNING TIME: 92 minutes.
"The Nice Guys"
Take two charismatic actors. Give them characters that are, on the surface, totally incompatible. Plunk them into your basic whodunit, a mismatched team fighting fill-in-the-blank bad guys. Stir in some shoot-em-up action, and poof: You have a buddy cop movie, one of the most durable formulas in Hollywood. Now, technically, Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe don't play cops in "The Nice Guys," by writer-director Shane Black (who knows a thing about buddy cop movies, having written "Lethal Weapon" back in 1987.) One's a bumbling private investigator, the other a low-life hired enforcer. But the equation's the same, and like a buddy-cop movie (or a porn film — more on that later) the important thing isn't the plot. It's the chemistry. Gosling and Crowe do have chemistry, and an obvious sense of humor which gets them far. They'd have gotten farther, though, if the movie, while at times hilarious, didn't have such an uneven feel, particularly a nasty edge that simply clashes with the desired jocular tone. Yes, there's such a thing as dark comedy, but this is a comedy that occasionally just makes you feel queasy. There were moments I knew I was supposed to be laughing but found myself scribbling in my notes: "hmm, funny but not?" Then again, there are some inspired moments, such as when enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe, paunchy and amiably violent) tracks down Holland March (Gosling — sweet, clumsy, effortlessly funny ) in a men's room stall. March is understandably wary, considering Healy had broken his arm at their last meeting, leaving him howling on the kitchen floor like a wounded cat. On the Edge of the Weekend
It's a bit of bad timing for "X-Men: Apocalypse" coming third in this summer's superhero lineup. Director Bryan Singer invigorates his latest X-Men film with vintage 1980s charm in an origin story about how the mutant supergroup unites and divides in response to the villain Apocalypse. And while battles between heroes are an X-Men tradition, warring among the ranks has become a superhero trope this season, at play in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Captain America: Civil War." Like similarly dressed beauties in celebrity magazines, it becomes a case of who wore it better, and that's an unfair burden on what is ultimately a satisfying conclusion to the rebooted trilogy. Even with an ensemble that includes Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender and Poe from "Star Wars" (Oscar Isaac, unrecognizable as Apocalypse), it can't match the magic of the latest Avengers movie, with multiple characters carefully inter-developed over a dozen films. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is also a prequel, so the fate of its characters isn't a mystery. That's not to say "Apocalypse" isn't a fun flick on its own. It has a grand scope, great special effects and doesn't require knowledge of its predecessors to enjoy. Those who know the characters get even more payoff. As hinted at during the credits for 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," this film brings on Apocalypse, a super-powered mutant who can transfer his essence from one being to another and was revered as a god when he existed millennia ago. RATED: PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for "sequences of violence, action and destruction, brief strong language and some suggestive images." RUNNING TIME: 147 minutes. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: Two and a half stars out of four.
"Alice Through the Looking Glass"
"Alice Through the Looking Glass," like its predecessor, owes very little to Lewis Carroll. Textual adherence is somewhat beside the point when serving as a sequel to something that also cherry picked. But, lest you think that a six-year gap and the absence of Tim Burton in the director's chair might have allowed for a return to the gleeful absurdity of Carroll, it doesn't. Screenwriter Linda Woolverton ("Beauty and the Beast") has again disposed of the source material in favor of something more linear — a story about Alice (Mia Wasikowska) looking for Hatter's (Johnny Depp) family. Director James Bobin's ("The Muppets") film trudges on through the lushly designed world answering questions we never asked, like, "What was the Mad Hatter's childhood like?" And, "why does the Red Queen have such a large head?" In other words, it's an Underland origin story. We meet Alice some years after the first film faced again with the prospect of losing her independence. Last time she was fleeing a proposal. This time her livelihood is in jeopardy (she's a sea captain now, and a good one). So when life gets frustrating in the real world, Alice climbs through a mirror and is transported back to Underland. Her old friends have been waiting for her to fix another problem: The Mad Hatter. The nightmarish Hatter, who has developed a more pronounced (and annoying) lisp, is wallowing in lifethreatening depression (manifested in combed hair, a sicklier pallor and a grown up wardrobe) because he's found an object that makes him believe his family is alive. This was not something that seemed to afflict Hatter in the first film, but maybe he's just really good at compartmentalizing. RATED: PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for "fantasy action/peril and some language." RUNNING TIME: 113 minutes. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: One and a half stars out of four.

"Me Before You"
Well, I cried anyway. I cried even though halfway through "Me Before You," I swore to myself I wouldn't, because the movie felt overly broad, overly simplistic, lacking depth both in characterization and in treatment of the serious issues it raises. At the end, I still thought all those things ... but the tears came anyway. It seems that some movies — particularly those featuring young, passionate, suffering people — are destined to get the waterworks going no matter how well (or not) they tell their story. That story is already known, of course, to fans of the novel by Jojo Moyes, who adapted her book here. Like the (better) 2014 tearjerker "The Fault in Our Stars," this film version, directed by Thea Sharrock, probably is a slam dunk for the book's fans, who will likely be crying from the first scene. For the rest of us, it's a bit of a harder sell. Certainly, the couple at the center of the heartbreak is appealing; both Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones") and Sam Claflin ("The Hunger Games") have beautiful smiles. But especially in the case of Clarke, that smile — a very wide one — is relied upon way too much, with the camera often lingering for long seconds during which we could actually have been, say, learning something more about her character. Clarke plays Louisa, an amiable cafe waitress in an English town. We meet her on the day she loses her job, throwing her struggling extended family into turmoil. Louisa — or Lou, as she's called — has few skills but manages to get an interview at the grand Traynor estate. RATED: PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for "thematic elements and some suggestive material." RUNNING TIME: 110 minutes. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: Two stars out of four.
"Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping"
A quick survey of the pop music landscape: Kanye West, in the midst of rolling out an album that frequently changed titles and engaging in a Twitter feud with a rapper named Wiz, claimed he was $53 million in debt but could still "buy furs and houses for my family." A scandal known as "DoughnutGate" ensnarled Ariana Grande; her apology began "I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American." Fans of Justin Bieber continue to go by the name "Beliebers." In such a state, where reality seems to be engaged in an arms race of absurdity, the bar for parody is higher than a Mariah Carey vocal exercise. "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping," the Lonely Island's mockumentary styled after self-aggrandizing docs like Bieber's "Never Say Never," doesn't often reach the kind of pitch that will shatter glass. It comes closest when its "Behind the Music" format dissolves and, before you know it, there's (the film's producer) Judd Apatow's penis (definitely not in a box) smeared against a limousine window or Will Arnett's recurring, cackling, beverage-wielding impression of TMZ's Harvey Levin. Yet on display in "Popstar" — which actually boasts only a handful of Bieber jabs — is the full panoply of pop music's glorious, ego-warped idiocy, from the demented bubble of an entourage to pseudo poses of humility by the famous. It's done with the familiar skewering wit (and respectable knack for a tune) of Lonely Island trio Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, the makers of the beloved "Saturday Night Live" Digital Shorts. RATED: R by the Motion Picture Association of America for "some graphic nudity, language throughout, sexual content and drug use." Running time: 86 minutes. ASSOCIATED PRESS RANKING: Three stars out of four.

Clarke plays Louisa, an amiable cafe waitress in an English town. We meet her
on the day she loses her job, throwing her struggling extended family into turmoil. Louisa — or Lou, as she's called — has few skills but manages to get an interview at the grand Traynor estate. It turns out the job entails caring for the son of the family, Will. We've met Will in the prologue; he was a dashing, supremely handsome London banker with a taste for extreme sports when one day, he left home (and his sexy blonde girlfriend) and was hit by a motorcycle, paralyzing him from the neck down. After a brief interview with Will's mother (the excellent Janet McTeer), Lou gets the job. Her task will be to provide cheer, since Will's medical needs are already tended to by a nurse (though the movie shows hardly any
of this). But Will is bitter and mostly silent. He first greets Lou with a naughty "My Left Foot" impression, then proceeds to either ignore her or toss barbs about her whimsically wacky wardrobe, which includes leprechaun shoes (a trait of Lou's that is cute, until it gets annoying.) But Lou is determined, and soon enough (too soon, dramatically speaking) Will is submitting to the warmth of her smile. He introduces her to films with subtitles. She gets him to come outside in the sun. She takes him to the horse races. She even gets him to attend a fancy concert; like Julia Roberts at the opera in "Pretty Woman," it's her first such experience, and she cries. (Also like Roberts, she wears a glamorous red dress.)
"Popstar" worth a look By ROBERT GRUBAUGH For The Edge To much the surprise of everyone that saw it, the new film "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" is actually quite funny and remarkably complex as it skewers the boy band model in faux documentary fashion. It's an original work of comedy group The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer) and it lambasts, among other topics, the career of Justin Bieber and his 2011 concert film, "Never Say Never". The Lonely Island have been making comedy for well over a decade, but it's good to see that beyond their excellent "SNL" digital shorts ("Jack Sparrow", "Lazy Sunday"), they've been able to overcome the shabby flop of 2007's "Hot Rod" and prove they in fact can handle the feature business.
It's a shame no one turned out, with the title earning only about $4 million in wide release during another soft summer weekend. The formulaic plot structure is not to be overanalyzed. Conner Friel (Samberg) used to front a trio of pop musicians named The Style Boyz alongside his two BFFs, Owen (Taccone) and Lawrence (Schaffer). When the major fame overtook him, he decided that he wanted to go for a solo career that pulled the group apart. Loyal Owen remained just a step behind him as his lowly DJ while Lawrence made an ugly break of it to try his hand at farming in Colorado. Rebranded Conner 4Real, his first solo record was a phenomenal success in full thanks to Style Boyz history and the music that Owen mostly wrote. The movie begins as Conner is preparing for the launch of
his sophomore follow-up, a crassly commercial undertaking in which he wrote every track himself and has leveraged to be released across all mediums, some even unheard of until now like on kitchen appliances and washing machines. The inevitable failure of Conner 4Real is foreshadowed as only a footnote in the story. Someone would have to care about the jerk and his current tour, one that is mostly scenes of him losing face to opening act Hunter the Hungry (Chris Redd), a violent rap star who wears only camouflage and uses brutalizing lyrics best described as 'inflammatory'. But the audience doesn't have to care. Conner's got thirty-two people on his personal payroll for that, including Tim Meadows as a manager, Maya Rudolph as a marketing guru, and
Sarah Silverman as a publicist. His team finds new and inventive ways to keep his attention off of the surefire bomb that his new music will be. Even Owen becomes a master at changing the subject. And there's enough cameos (Ringo Starr, Questlove, Adam Levine's hologram) in this movie to both give it full documentary swagger and make its brief running time feel perfectly adequate. The show-within-amovie "CMZ" uses Will Arnett and comedians Mike Birbiglia, Chelsea Peretti, and Eric Andre to do a great riff on the real-life bloodsuckers at "TMZ". Justin Timberlake plays a fame-hungry personal chef with amazing gusto. Clever music, including the showpiece ballad about the government's assassination of Osama bin Laden that debuted
June 16, 2016
on the season finale of "SNL", is sparingly interspersed with truly gonzo comedy that appeals across all genres of making people laugh. Viral dance videos (aka The Donkey Roll) on Jimmy Fallon's talk show and a cutaway gag where Conner, fiancé Ashley (Imogen Poots) and singer Seal are attacked by a pack of wolves prove just how collaborative making a good movie can really be. The resolution between Lawrence and his former bandmates is a fitting ending in only the way that "Popstar" could have. This is the smartest dumb comedy I've seen in a while. "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" runs 87 minutes and is rated R for some graphic nudity, language throughout, sexual content, and drug use. I give this film three stars out of four.

Music Tuning in Stapleton to appear at The Fox
Chris Stapleton boldly introduced himself to the public at-large in 2015 with the release of his breakthrough debut album, Traveller. Released in May on Mercury Records Nashville, Traveller initially debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart with more than 27,000 albums sold, making it one of the bestselling first weeks by a debut country artist in 2015. The album also received extensive critical acclaim and has landed him bookings on multiple national TV shows including recent appearances on Saturday Night Live and CBS News Sunday Morning. Stapleton will appear at the Fox Thursday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $79.50, $59.50, $54.50, $49.50 and are available online at metrotix.com, by calling 314-5341111, or in person at the Fabulous Fox Box Office. Following a historic turn on the CMA Awards—where Stapleton became the first artist to win Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the same awards— Traveller became the first album to re-enter the Billboard 200 all-genre album chart at No. 1, where it stayed for two straight weeks. T h e b re a k t h ro u g h s u c c e s s continued earlier this year at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, where Stapleton took home two awards for Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance ( “ Tr a v e l l e r ) . M o s t re c e n t l y, Stapleton won six awards at the 51st Annual ACM Awards—Album of the Year (for Traveller as both artist and producer), Song of the Year (for “Nobody To Blame as both artist and songwriter), Male Vocalist of the Year and New Male Vocalist of the Year. With the six wins, Stapleton ties the record for most ACM Awards won in a single year (only Garth Brooks and Faith Hill have previously won six in the same year). Co-produced with Dave Cobb, Traveller is comprised of songs written throughout Stapleton's 15- year career and evokes his childhood when country, blues, rock
and R&B swirled together to create a distinctive sound that still resonates with modern fans.

Tucker's Place By BILL ROSEBERRY Of The Edge Finding a good steak for an affordable price anywhere can be a difficult venture. Finding a good, cheap steak in a big city is almost impossible. Then there's Tucker's Place. It makes the impossible possible, providing mouthwatering steaks at excellent prices for its St. Louis metropolitan patrons. Tucker's offers three locations in the St. Louis area. There is one on Union Rd., another on Manchester Rd. and the site that we visited at 2117 South 12th St. in Soulard. Soulard is the original location for Tucker's, established in 1982. It opened on Mardi Gras that year and originally only served pizza according to their website, www. tuckersplacestl.com. It serves much more than that now. Kelly and I met a group of friends there recently and definitely weren't disappointed. Our friend C.J.'s mom was in town from Kentucky and Tucker's has become a staple on her trips here. It's a great place to visit in large groups. As we took our seats we were started with a basket of dinner rolls. They were doughy and delicious. Kelly ordered an appetizer of beer battered onion rings to share. They were large and covered in a thick breading. They had a great taste and were very filling. I got a salad with Italian dressing to kick off my selection. It was highlighted by a hard boiled egg and large pieces of bacon blanketing the bed of lettuce; a very good salad. It was a great precursor to my main course. I went with a 10-ounce top sirloin and a loaded baked potato. The loaded baked potato was close to the size of my steak. It was
enormous and stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese, loads of chives, butter and sour cream. It was awesome. I don't know why anyone would waste their time and order a regular baked potato at Tucker's. Always go with the loaded baked potato. It's well worth the upgrade charge.
As for the steak, I chose for it to be cooked medium. I was happy with its appearance, it wasn't too pink. It was extremely tender and juicy also. The Tucker's steak marinade was delicious and soared it over the top. The price might have been the best part of the steak, costing just $14.85. Overall my meal cost just
$16.25 and was extremely satisfying and filling. Kelly went with the 8-ounce filet mignon and raved about its scrumptiousness, too. It was priced at $20.95. There are other great steak options at Tucker's, including: a 16-ounce New York strip and

a 2 0 - o u n c e p o r t e rh o u s e . T h e 20-ounce thick-cut pork chop caught my eye on the menu also, as did the 8-ounce grilled chicken breast, which is herb marinated and topped with grilled pineapple slices. The appetizer portion of the menu has some intriguing choices like the jalapeno poppers and breaded zucchini sticks. There are also pizza and sandwich portions of the menu. The 9-ounce Tucker burger sounds good, consisting of a charbroiled hamburger patty with options between cheddar, American, Swiss or pepper jack or provolone for an extra 75 cents. Grilled onions are also available. The tender roast beef au jus sandwich was an attention grabber, comprised of hand-carved roast beef served on a toasted hoagie with the au jus served on the side. As for the pizza portion, Tucker's offers a 10-inch or 14-inch pie with a slew of topping options cooked to perfection in their stone oven. There is even a cool choice on the salad menu with the char-grilled steak salad. Your server will ask how to serve your steak on top of your salad. That's an uncommon inquiry but a pretty neat option. Our friend Shell ordered her steak medium rare on top of her salad and raved about how awesome it was. With good craft beer choices to boot to make a good partner for your steak, Tucker's has plenty to chose from. So next time your searching for a nice, affordable spot to take a group of friends, a quiet place to take a date, or you're craving an outstanding steak and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it, Tucker's Place in Soulard is a place to go when you gotta eat.

The Arts EAC offering adult drop-in classes By JULIA BIGGS Of The Edge
E
ver been interested in painting, drawing or ceramics, but need some instructions? If so, you may want to check out the Edwardsville Arts Center's adult dropin classes. The weekly evening classes are only two hours long, inexpensive, don't require registration, and offer hands-on instruction for drawing, ceramics, and acrylic or watercolor painting.
EAC Gallery Manager Carolyn Tidball explained that all of the adult drop-in classes are for adults 14 and older and take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Drop in classes are $10 per class. No registration is necessary and you can come one week and not the next so there is no commitment," Tidball said. "And we provide all the paint and brushes." The current adult drop-in class schedule includes drawing on Mondays, watercolor painting and ceramics classes on Tuesdays, and ceramics as well as acrylic painting classes on Wednesdays. Emily Wetter, who has a degree in art education from SIUE with a focus in drawing, teaches the drawing class. "She's a really talented artist," Tidball emphasized. "She's really creative with the students and does a lot of experimenting with different types of drawing utensils like oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal and pencil and pen." "She's done calligraphy with her students and printmaking with them," Tidball said. "She's doing really fun stuff with them, but she also teaches them important skills like drawing anatomy, facial features of a person, and how to recreate a photograph. I think she's really doing a great job." Tidball stressed that the drawing class as well as any of the adult drop in classes are for the novice to the advanced. "You can come in with just a photograph or something that you want to draw, and she will show you how to make that happen. You don't have to have any kind of background with drawing at all," Tidball said. Tuesday's watercolor painting class is taught by Sarah Willig, who has a degree in art eduction from SIUE with a focus in painting. Willig's class is similar to Wetter's in that you simply need to bring in a photograph of something you'd like to learn how to paint. "Sarah will help them figure out how to translate those details you see in a photograph into a more abstract version with watercolor paint," Tidball noted. There's also a ceramics class Tuesday evenings with Brandy Cloud. "I think that she actually has a degree in photography, but for the last 10 or more years her main focus has been in ceramics," Tidball said. "She's taken classes at SIUE, she's done workshops, she does art fairs. She's definitely very involved in the ceramics crowd these days, and she's a very talented teacher." “I think what Brandy really brings to the table with ceramics in her class is her glazing and sort color treatment of her pieces," Tidball added. "She has a multitude of techniques for getting a pattern or images on a piece, and it's really interesting. She's also a really skilled hand builder and wheel thrower. Tidball teaches the Wednesday night ceramics class emphasizing wheel throwing, hand building and working with slabs. "The way I like to work with slabs is texturing them really heavily with glaze and found objects like coins or forks," she said. Also on Wednesday evenings is an acrylic painting class taught by Willig

A work created by drop-in student Kathy Schrage. which is similar to her watercolor class except that the medium is changed to acrylic on canvas. "Those students bring in a photograph or some idea of something you want to paint. She'll help students go through the process of doing an under painting or drawing out the form first with a pencil and then laying down the paint in a way that looks natural," Tidball said. Students who come for the acrylic class should bring in an 11 x 14 canvas and watercolor students need to bring watercolor paper with a weight of #140 or more. Ceramic students can purchase a 25 pound bag of clay for $15 at the EAC, and firing fees are .02 per cubic inch with a $2 minimum. The EAC has also recently added a paint and party class once a month at Cleveland Heath in Edwardsville. Participants must be 21, pay $35 and simply show up to paint a pre-selected painting which can be viewed on the EAC's website or Facebook page. Willig leads the participants on a stepby-step journey to complete the painting within the three-hour session while the participants are welcome to order food

and wine from Cleveland Heath if they would like or just enjoy the painting and company of friends. The paint and party class takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of every month except June. June's paint and party will take place on June 9. Another recent addition is the first Friday watercolor. Similar to paint and party but a class that takes place in the high school, Marty Spears also instructs students how to paint a pre-selected painting. "She does a painting all set to go and then they all follow along with the steps and go home with a really beautiful watercolor painting," Tidball pointed out. First Friday watercolor classes take place on the first Friday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The fee is $25 and all supplies are provided. And of course, the EAC continues to offer its free children's art classes Saturdays from 11:30am to 2:30 pm. Taught by Willig, the children's classes are designed for kids ages 2 to 14. "Sarah has been really good about doing a different project with them every
single week for over a year," Tidball said. "They've done things like Chinese scrolls and rock painting which seems really simple but students really had a lot of fun with it painting poems or stories on little rocks. I think last week they did coiled baskets out of paper. They took grocery bag paper and rolled them up into coils and weaved them into a basket. Because it's only a three hour class, they usually finish up a project in that one time." Ever consider taking one of the adult drop-in classes at the Edwardsville Arts Center but just have been unsure exactly what they do in class? You can get a glimpse of exactly what is possible in taking an EAC art class by viewing some of the incredible artwork created by the students of the EAC's adult drop-in art classes which is currently being featured in the EAC's DeToye Student gallery. The artwork of the students from Saturday's free children classes will also be on display. Visit the EAC located at 6165 Center Grove Road in Edwardsville or call the EAC at 655-0337 for additional information about the adult and children's classes.

The Arts Artistic adventures Muny set for 2016 season
The Muny has announced its 2016 summer season, its 98th summer season in Forest Park. The exciting, bold line-up includes 2 Muny premieres and the return of an alltime Muny classic, The Wizard of Oz, the first production in a decade. The seven shows are: The Wizard of Oz (June 13 – 22), 42nd Street (June 24 – 30), The Music Man (July 5 –11), Young Frankenstein (July 13 –19), Mamma Mia!(July 21 –28), Fiddler on the Roof (July 30 – August 5), and Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida (August 8 –14.) For more information visit muny.org. Season ticket holders will receive their renewal notices the first week of December. New season tickets will be available beginning Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Muny box office in Forest Park. Gift Card holders will have advanced access to season tickets beginning February 29, 2016. "This is an incredibly exciting season for us to produce," said Muny president and CEO, Denny Reagan. "It is packed with the most requested and beloved titles by the Muny audience. Mike and our creative teams continued to put world class work on our stage last season, and our audiences showed tremendous support for our productions. With these seven titles, 2016 promises another fantastic season at The Muny. " "For my fifth season, these may be the seven biggest, most demanding productions yet," said Muny artistic director and executive producer Mike Isaacson. "While they are an incredible variety and style, they are all robust, bold and, hopefully for our audience, absolutely thrilling. It promises to be another great adventure of a season." World Wide Technology (WWT) and The Steward Family Foundation have once again made a leadership gift to continue as the Muny’s 2016 Season Presenting Sponsor. They became the first overall season sponsor in the history of The Muny in 2014 and continue that role through 2016. “Both WWT and The Steward Family Foundation are committed to The Muny and to making exceptional musical theatre
accessible to everyone, said David Steward, chairman and founder of WWT. “This year’s season promises to be spectacular and will showcase how much the performing arts enrich our community. For preferred seating with new season tickets, purchase a Muny Season Ticket Gift Card, available now. Gift card holders will be able to call or visit the box office beginning February 29, 2016, to select their season tickets before they go on sale to the general public. For more information, visit muny.org or call (314) 361-1900.
Museum to exhibit Chinese art
An exhibit titled Real and Imagined Landscapes in Chinese Art will be on display March 11– August 14 in Gallery 225 at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park. Chinese art is filled with images of landscapes and landscape
settings. Some are depictions of imaginary locations and others may represent actual sites at certain points in time, while still others combine real and imagined landscape elements within the same pictorial space or object surface. This exhibition of selected works from the Museum's collection explores how real and imagined landscapes in Chinese art are seen within paintings as well as threedimensional objects. Works in the exhibition include two hanging scrolls bearing titles that refer to actual named places: The Taibo Wine Pavilion at Caishi Rock by Miao Song and Elegant Gathering at the Poetry Niche, a collaborative work by Fa Shishan and his friends. Gathering of the Immortals by Wang Wending depicts the birthday celebration of the Daoist deity Queen Mother of the West in a garden of lotus, plantain, and exotic flowering plants. These screens present symbols of longevity, and were
painted in honor of the 60th birthday of the Li family matriarch Madame Chen. Other works in the exhibition that interpret landscapes through visual imagination include the hanging scroll by Wan Shanglin with scenery that arouses a sense
of tranquility, and two porcelain barrel-form garden seats decorated with peacocks in landscape settings. Real and Imagined Landscapes in Chinese Art is curated by Philip Hu, associate curator-in-charge of Asian art.
