Arboretum
It already has existing hydrology in form of its pond in the southwest of the section. This has already created a huge hub for aquatic vegetation and wildlife. I would like to add a wetland area along the south of the area to create a small flood plan for the river to the north in case it overflows. This will create protection for the habitat existing in there.
Wetland/Recreational area
This is the main area of the park. It has balancing ponds and streams already existing in the area. The recreational area doesn’t tend to be used as much, as the area can flood up to 4 inches every winter. I want to add a new shallow pond to hold the excess of water, as well as a rain garden to control and help the vegetation thrive in this area. Also with the new cafe, I will use a green roof to absorb rainwater for it to be collected within a rainwater harvesting system. This can then be used within a greywater system within the cafes facilities. Meadow
