How many medals did Canada win in the 2022 Winter Olympics? (Answer on page 5) February 24-March 2, 2022 Volume 20 Issue 8 Rockies Hockey The Columbia Valley Rockies finished in second place in the division, only a single point behind the Kimberley Dynamiters. This means the Rockies will be facing the third place team, the Fernie Ghostriders in a best-of-seven first round playoff series. The Rockies have home ice advantage so up to four games could be played here. The Rockies are at home this Tuesday and Wednesday, February 22 and 23. All game times will be 7:30 pm. If needed they will be back home on Monday, February 28 and possibly Wednesday, March 2. I encourage everyone to get out and cheer the Rockies on through the playoffs. The beauty of home ice advantage is all about the fans. Kimberley will be facing off against the Golden Rockets in their opening playoff series.
The Science If the science is different between provinces or regions, it is not real science. It is political science.

Free Food Pantry Another tough week of gas and grocery prices continuing to rise. More and more of our neighbours are struggling to make ends meet so more and more are using the Free Food Pantry to help feed their families. Obviously this means that more donations are required to sustain the program The Pantry is located on the side of the road at 1313 10 St in Invermere. It is available for use 24 hours a day so it does get a lot of people taking food from it. Please donate whatever and whenever you can. Fill the Pantry with food or make a cash donation to myself to help keep it stocked. Help our neighbours right here in our community.

Delicious Burgers
Tasty Burgers-The Valley Peak ‘Approved’
I was down in Fairmont at the Boardwalk Burgers restaurant in the Mountain View Resort. My meal was exceptional. I chose the Hawaiian burger with pineapple and teriyaki sauce. There was a choice of a ground beef patty or a chicken burger. I had onion rings on the side and a creamy chocolate milkshake. Yummy The gentleman I joined had a mushroom swiss burger with poutine on the side. My meal was amazing but that poutine was giving me food envy, just loaded with gravy and cheese. Take note of the ‘Buy One, Get One Free’ coupon just to the left of this article. Treat your friend to a delicious dining experience.

I wandered down to check out the Polar Plunge a couple of times on Saturday. What an incredible event that was this year. There were hundreds of people around enjoying great live music and watching many folks plunge into the lake. I was there to see the one-hundredth participant go into the water. Very impressive. A huge thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped to put it together. The Station Pub did a great job plus all the other folks involved. There was a lot of hard work to put that together. The hot tub is always impressive. Thanks to all the plungers also. You were very cool. I am confident they raised a good amount of money for adaptive recreational equipment, making the valley that much more accessible.

ROCKIES PLAYOFFS FERNIE GHOSTRIDERS FEBRUARY 22,23, 28, MARCH 3
Willpower is an interesting thing. I guess it is another term for sticking to your values and decisions although willpower tends to refer to health choices. With my health issues I definitely have to be very careful with what eat. Anything with preservatives, especially phosphorous, potassium or sodium, is not good for my system as my kidneys will not be able to clear them out of my bloodstream. Amazing foods like bacon, smokies and bratwurst, and frozen foods that are so perfect for a single person are so very bad for me. They aren’t the best for anyone really. So I try to avoid a lot of that stuff but I tell you what, I love bacon and it just cannot be completely eliminated from my diet. It is a funny but sad weakness in my so called willpower. I think of Watson lots lately. He changed my life and touched many hearts. He loved smokies haha. He loved love and thanks to my experience with him I now have two lovely hounds, Rocky and Drew. I do wish there was two of me to make sure these boys get all the love and care they need. I just don’t have the energy for the walks that I used to have. We certainly change with age. Remember to be true to God and yourself and always stand for what you know is right. Too many people just go with the flow and that is not always the best route to take.
Good Vision I have always been satisfied with my eyesight but for some reason, the judge thinks that I need super vision.

It seems that there is an official ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week. I guess I just want to remind you that there are no time restraints on when you can do an act of kindness. Be kind every day. Everything you do for others comes back to you as joy in your soul. Last week a lot of folks were suggesting that winter was coming to an end. But it seems like Mother Nature has different ideas. We are in for a chilly few days and nights. That should harden up the ice on the lakes pretty good.

Watson’s Waddle We all experience grief in our lives. This week is the one-year anniversary of Watson’s demise. It was a very sad day as Watson was healing up nicely from some surgeries and seemed like a new dog again. I can still remember it vividly. Watson and his friends were running around and barking in the house so we kicked them out the front door. I had no fence in my front yard as most of the dogs were pretty road wise. A friend was walking up the street with her dogs and Watson wanted to greet them. He did not see the pickup truck coming and it was over instantly. I will never get that image of him lying on the road and the feeling of having to deal with it. Never. Watson taught me a lot about life and what it feels like to love and to be loved. I never imagined that I would be a dog owner let alone have the coolest dog in the history of pets. The hugest ears and deepest eyes and the way he loved to talk. He always had something coming out of his mouth. He had lot of stories to tell and a cute way of telling them. Watson was a great writer and this column quickly became the ‘first-read’ for many people. Life from his point of view was easy to hear and read about.

What Year Was It? The Beatles released ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’, the first Lear Jet took flight, pull tabs for cans, the Smiley Face symbol and lava lamps were invented and the first NHL draft took place in Montreal. John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Martin Luther King gave the ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, Johhny Depp was born and General Hospital debuted. What year was it? See page 7.
Strong Relationship I asked my grandfather what was his secret to a long, happy marriage. “Chemistry,” he replied. “I’m on valium and she’s on Prozac”.

Everyone who lives in this area knows that the Rocky Mountains are incredible. They are a beautiful natural structure that divides BC from Alberta. But did you know that they were also antiviral? If you cross from here into Alberta, the virus goes away and you can live a normal life. But when you come back across the mountains, suddenly you are back into ‘super spreader’ country and you better get that clean, sterile mask back on your face. Bonnie told us so. Now that is science. Follow it. Did you notice the 70,000 maskless fans at the Superbowl?

Family BBQ I checked out the ‘Free Canada Family BBQ’ on the weekend. I must say I was very impressed to see so many folks enjoying free hot dogs and bratties as well as lots of delicious pot luck food on the side. It looked like about 150 happy people of all ages and backgrounds enjoying some nice outdoor fellowship for an afternoon. Everyone needs some social interactions. It would be nice to see things open up completely in our province like they are in other countries and provinces.

Rental Housing Crisis The Columbia Valley is a tough place to find a home to rent. There are none available. This makes it tough for businesses to find staff as there is nowhere to live that is affordable. The valley is very limited on opportunities for young families to get started due to the housing situation. I know of several families and individuals that are basically homeless in this area. It is sad.

Never before in history has an annual disease (the flu) disappeared only to be replaced by another one with the exact same symptoms. The masses not only fell for it but they also trusted the very people who profit from their illness to help them. Then to make it even crazier…the ineffectiveness of the medicine was blamed on the people who didn’t take it, again for the first time in medical history. And the people believed it.
Spoiler Alerts Sheeple: So they say that we will have to just live with covid now, like a common cold or flu. ‘Conspiracy Theorist’: Yes, we have known that and been saying it for 2 years now. Sheeple: You couldn’t have known that. They just announced it on the TV this morning.

WHERE were we?

Can you guess where this photo was taken?

Imagine Imagine living in a country where you can be arrested for disagreeing with the government. Imagine living in a country where the government can randomly clear your bank account if they need money. Imagine living in a country where you are forced to submit to unwanted medical procedures and experiments or you are treated as a second class citizen. Imagine owning nothing and being told you are happy. Imagine the new ‘Great Reset Canada’. It doesn’t take much of an imagination anymore.
The Year It Was (From page 4) In 1963, a new home cost $12,650, a car was $3,233 and the average annual income was $5,807. The first James Bond movie, ‘Dr. No’ was released, Lester B. Pearson became Prime Minister, Lamborghini was founded and Patsy Cline left us in a plane crash.
‘Illegal’ Protests Clown world for sure. The media just parrots the talking points of the government. If you disagree with them you are holding an ‘illegal’ protest. Even though there is no such thing. You have a right to protest. Strange how they are able to freeze Canadians bank accounts over disagreeing with them but you can be a murderer or pedophile and that does not happen to you. Our politicians are working hard to criminalize every Canadian with pathetic new laws that have no data to back them up.
Aging A friend handed me a photo of themselves and told me it was from when they were younger. I thought to myself, ‘Aren’t all photos from when we were younger?’
Messaging Have you noticed how the politicians all repeat the same scripted crap? ‘Be kind, we are all in this together’. What do they actually mean by that? They mean ‘Don’t question us, just comply, regardless of how bad it is or how little sense it makes’. You will hear the same message coming from our politicians at every level.
For Our Safety Did you see the video of the lady with the walker getting trampled by police horses?
Email rob@valleypeak.ca
Or the veteran being thrown to the ground and swarmed and pummeled by police? It kind of turns my stomach. That is all for our safety. Have you noticed there has been no huge outbreak of covid amongst all the free, maskless people rallying in Ottawa? Strange isn’t it? I will wait for ‘the science’ on that one.

Earth Info At about 93 million miles from the Sun, Earth is exactly the right distance for things to survive. Earth’s size allows the correct gravitational forces so the atmosphere does not escape, but lighter, poisonous gases are able to escape. The atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% other gases. This level of oxygen is perfect to sustain life. Any less would be tough to live and any more would cause spontaneous combustion. That’s a hot fact.
