Seafood Bus
Orion’s Fish Bus will be here this weekend, June 3 & 4. As usual it, will be located up at the Crossroads Esso and Market. If you love seafood you will really love the bus. He has a great variety of seafood perfect for any occasion. Stop in and check it out. You will not be disappointed.
Healthy?
I prefer my kale with a silent ‘k’.
Roaring Fun
The ‘Fun Day at Coys’ Golf Tournament is next Saturday, June 10. It is a fundraiser for the Fairmont Lions Club. This event is often sold out so get a hold of them immediately to get entered.
This is always a fantastic fun day at a great golf venue that includes 9 holes of golf and a mouth-watering barbecue meal afterwards. The cost is only $50 for golf and the meal, auctions and a dance which is an incredible deal.
There are two shotgun tee times, noon and 2:30 pm, and groups will have up to 8 golfers in them. Just a bit more fun that way. You must pre-register at Coys Par 3, 250345-6504.
Creston Asparagus
Asparagus is one of those things that I really disliked growing up. But now I love it and the fresh Creston asparagus is my favourite. Hopkins Harvest has it in stock. It is great.
They also have some amazing fresh farm eggs and lots of cool unique items. Check them out.
Farmers’ Market
I do enjoy the Wednesday afternoon Farmers’ Market at the AGRI Park near the crossroads. There are some very talented vendors as well as great food products. Beef jerky and sausages are very tasty. The baking is awesome. It is tough to keep my wallet in my pocket. The fresh veggies will be there pretty soon. Check it out from 3-6:30 pm every Wednesday this summer.
Shout Out
Huge thanks to all of my delivery folks, my printer, website developer, proof reader, advertising clients and you readers. I really appreciate you helping share my opinions and truths with the valley.

Campfires
Remember to be extremely responsible with your campfires. Have water or a shovel very close and do not abandon it or leave it unattended.
The maximum allowable size for a Category 1 campfire is 50 cm x 50 cm which is about 20 inches I believe.
I remember the days of huge bonfire gatherings in my teens. That was fun. Currently Category 2 & 3 fires are banned, including fireworks.

Best Bread
Andi Schoni is setting up with his Wood Oven Artisan Bread every Saturday morning until September. He is in front of Valhalla Pure in the morning until he runs out of bread.
I have a couple favourites but I have not tried every type he makes. I am afraid to try the others as they are all so good and addictive.
Thanks
A huge thanks to all the people who send me awesome supportive emails. You definitely keep me inspired to carry on. I had a few very nice ones in between the ones from those who really dislike what I write. Thanks also to the new ad clients who may or may not agree with me, but they support free speech and see the value of being in a little paper that is read by many people.
Typing Frustrations
There is a special place in he’ll for the person who invented autocorrect.
Free Food Pantry
I know this is redundant but please help fill the Free Food Pantry at 1313 10 St in Invermere. It is open 24/7 and it is getting busier and busier. More and more people are struggling in the valley and those of us who are not hurting can do a little bit to help people.
It is a white cabinet that looks like the book exchange boxes. Kids’ treats are a great donation as a few single moms visit it, especially on Sunday evenings to set up for the week of school and snacks.
Robservations
Quite the day on Sunday. A few issues with the dialysis machine and Rocky broke free to visit the ‘Clash of the Titans’ soccer tournament. Thanks to the folks who made sure he was safe.
They do an amazing job organizing and running that tournament. A lot of solid volunteer work that brings a lot of people to the valley. I remember when it first started a few years ago and it was tricky getting teams in. Now it is one of the best known soccer tournaments out there. I chatted with a Calgary team that was enjoying Chabot Park and beach. They said there was a waiting list and they were happy to finally get in.
Really, good work by all volunteers and organizers of any event that promotes our valley. Most visitors love it here. The Lake Spiel, Pond Hockey, bike races, and so many others events. Good work.
Volunteers are a huge part of this valley. Fortunately we all have different interests and passions and there are a lot of different opportunities. I am sure volunteering makes many people feel better about themselves and we all could use a bit of that. I am loving the Hospice volunteers who come and sit with me on dialysis. Thanks for that.
So get out there and find a volunteer position that matches your passion. If you love cats, ICAN is always welcoming volunteers. The Thrift Store and Food Bank as well as many other places welcome help.
Contemplating
My friends say that I am too indecisive. I am not sure what to think about that.
Gardentory
My new word for my garden inventory. This week saw the arrival of tiny carrots, 2 bean sprouts, lots of green onion and one potato plant peeking out of the soil. Lots of beets growing that need thinning, lots of peas, rhubarb, raspberry bushes and garlic. Most things are still pretty tiny but the peas and garlic are amazing. Still waiting for quite a few things and my cannabis plants are not doing well (anyone have some clones out there?).
It has become a great soothing pleasure to go out and do a bit of gardening. Touching the Earth is a good thing. And for some reason, I can grow a lot of weeds very quickly.

Watson’s Waddle
Rocky here, having an incredible adventure. Rob has a pretty secure fence around the yard so Drew and I have been very limited on our free running out there. We only get 3 walks a day and well, that is not quite enough. I want 5 walks every day. About 3 weeks ago we had a big strong dog visiting and he had a moment and tore through the fence. Rob did a quick fix but missed a couple twist ties that had been torn off. I figured it out. Sometimes visitors don’t close the gate properly and once I got out and went to visit the neighbours downstairs.
A couple days ago we went for a walk up to the soccer tournament. It was awesome getting rubbed and hugged by so many different kids. So yesterday while Rob was stuck on the dialysis machine and I could hear hundreds of kids up at the soccer field (just across the street really) so I decided to go up and say ‘Hi’. Rob had no idea as he was hooked up for a few hours. It was fun and lots of folks smiled and petted me. The concession people took me in and called the Bylaw Officer who went to Rob’s and grabbed a Hospice volunteer to go retrieve me. It went smoothly. Sadly a few judgmental people decided to voice their opinions how the owner does not care about his dogs and should be giving them up. Meanwhile we are everything to Rob and despite his health struggles, he does an amazing job with us. So cool your heels folks. Don’t be judging and voicing opinions on something you know nothing about. Your ignorance stands out with all the negative energy you contribute.

Grow to Eat
Planting doesn’t just happen on the May long weekend. If you hope to eat, say, two lettuce heads a week through the summer, you need to plant two lettuce seeds or seedlings every week. Ditto for sugar snap peas, carrots, and other vegetables where eating them at their peak matters. Another way to spread out the harvest season is to spring plant ever-bearing strawberry plant varieties (like Albion) instead of, or as well as, the June-bearing varieties (like Tristar). There’s nothing better than eating your own fresh food from your own garden all summer long.
Riddliculous Answer
(From page 2) Edam is ‘made’ backwards. ‘Incorrectly’ is always spelled incorrectly.
Fast Days
It is amazing how it is broad daylight and you look up at the clock and realize it is already past 9 pm. That daylight tricks me into staying up past my bedtime. I end up prepping the dialysis machine pretty late sometimes which is tricky as it needs 8 hours to set itself up through the night. It is always a moment of reality coming back.
Camping Season
How often do you make it out to a local lake or campground in the summer? The prep work can seem daunting: check the trailer’s propane, unearth the tent in the storage room and pack up the stuff But once you’re out there, with the campfire burning and maybe a filthy kid or two riding their bikes everywhere, the dog snoozing in the shade, it’s so worth it. It can be even more fun with friends nearby. People come here from all over the world to spend a night in our forests: we’re the lucky ones who can do it anytime.

WHERE were we? Can you guess where this photo was taken? Answer on page 7
Cow Farts
I have been trying to figure out the science showing that cow flatulence is dangerous to our climate. We have had millions of cows around for hundreds of years. Suddenly they are ‘bad’. I guess the millions and millions of other animals must cause a lot of grief.
At the same time millions of chickens are being killed and burnt due to one testing positive for ‘Avian Flu’ while food processing plants are mysteriously burning down. Strange coincidences, as Bill Gates pushes his ‘meatless foods’ I am sure. Crickets are coming also. Yummy.
It Was That Year
(From page 4) In 1933, a house cost $5,750 to buy and $18/month to rent. The average annual income was $1,550. It was the beginning of the Great Depression with nearly 33% unemployment in the U.S. plus the beginning of the ‘Dust Bowl’ years when the Midwest dried up.
Bed Ramp
Bassets can have tough time getting up onto my bed. It is pretty high. So we ended up pulling part of the box spring out a couple feet to give them a bit of a platform on the way up. We reinforced the front of the bed with strong boxes about the same height.
What an amazing back saver that has been. The hounds love it. Speaking of hounds. Have you ever noticed how they don’t seem to worry about tomorrow and just let it happen? Imagine the peacefulness of not stressing about tomorrow.
Long Day
It is a long one. I have run out of unproductive things to do while I am at work.
Tin Foil Hats
How about those insane conspiracy people who predicted some crazy stuff years ago. Things like mask mandates, mandatory vaccines, vaccine passports, lockdowns vaccine side effects and more. Nutso. Now they are predicting stuff like digital currency and ID, massive food shortages, fuel shortages, climate lockdowns, a war on meat, crickets (yummy), 15-minute cities, a new variant that is ‘more easily transmitted” (heard that with every variant for 3 years), open pedophilia and more. I don’t know where all this comes from as CBC
does not mention any of it. It will be interesting watching things play out to see how wrong these people are.
Where We Were
The page 6 photo shows Rocky and Drew coming past the water pump station near Windermere Beach.
Commercial Volume
There are a lot of commercials out there but that is not my topic here. It drives me crazy when I am quietly watching a video and then an ad comes on that is in full volume. It is pathetic actually. Helps decide what to never buy.
Bedtime
Good sleep is not my strongest characteristic. I am very bad at it. But I do love bedtime with these two hounds. I get lots of cuddles from each of them. It is random which goes into the bedroom first and it is amazing when they are both sprawled out on the bed.
I try to lay between them and give them both rubs at the same time. It is so soothing and sometimes that does put me to sleep.
