Telemarketing Services at a glance 1800-Freefone - The call is free to the caller regardless of whether they ring from a landline or from a mobile. The cost of the call is borne completely by the business providing the number. The cost of calls from mobiles is particularly high so this would not be recommended for businesses with a calling profile of mainly mobile.

Business use - Primarily used for sales generation activity where the business is happy to incur the full cost of the call in order to generate new business.

1850-Shared Cost - The cost of the call is shared between the caller and the business providing the number. The caller pays a flat per call charge and the receiver pays for the call duration after an initial free seconds allowance has elapsed. Calls from mobiles are again charged at a higher rate than fixed line calls. Business use - Sometimes used for sales generation activity but often as a mechanism for existing customers to contact a business, for example, to renew a policy. The caller pays a flat charge, regardless of duration, and the business picks up the rest. For long duration calls this call type can be very attractive for callers and can promote customer interaction.

1890-Locall - The cost to the caller is the same as a local call. The receiver is charged per call, regardless of duration. This is attractive for businesses with a high average call duration as they only incur a flat cost per call from fixed lines. Calls from mobiles still attract a cent per minute charge, however, it is lower than the charge to 1800 or 1850. Business use - Often used for long call duration services such as technical support lines.
