1 – Key Club – Our way of life

Time to start the year off right! Conclave is fast approaching, and a new set of prominent leaders are about to be put into office! In hopes to better our division, we will be realigning into Division three North and South. That means two LTG’s will be chosen at conclave! Not to worry, it just means that we will be able to connect better! In other news, DCON is fast approaching! It is our last year as Sharkeys so let’s go out with a bang and show other divisions from the CNH district what we are all about! Go on swimming Sharkeys, keep your service spirit up and keep on helping make your community a better place!

Candidate Training Conference: There were several events that I was able to go to for the month of January, but the most memorable was CTC at Rancho Cucamonga. The spirit everyone had there was so contagious. Everyone cheered to the top of their lungs whenever they asked "How do you feel" or "Can I get an oh yeah?" It was also nice to see some of our CNH LTG's, and for them to teach us about their work. It was a great experience meeting people from other divisions, and the drive people had to become the LTG for their division. That one day gave me reason to want to do more for my Key Club family. -Jorge Lopez

Revo Café Fundraiser: The Revo Café fundraiser is an event that will help fund our members going to DCON. It was a great way to bring people together since there was food – crepes, salads, and even Frappuccino, which were delicious if I may add. On top of that, it was an open mic! It gave our little Sharkeys a chance to demonstrate their hidden talents. Let me tell you, division three has some really talented people! It was just a really good way to start off finals week for me, it alleviated my stress before I go through that strenuous process of taking exams for each class. Honestly, Key Club helps alleviate my stress, helping others, and knowing that our service is making a difference helps me feel better when I am really aggravated with school work. -Erick Jason Reyno

As January’s Member of the Month, Kevin Kim has demonstrated more involvement than ever with Key Club in the past few months. He has become all the more associated by recently attending not only social, but volunteer events as well - such as the Atwater Village Clean-Up, Duck Splash and our recently successful Revo Cafe Fundraiser, where he participated by graciously performing at Open Mic (pictured left). Kevin devoted much of his time to attending numerous of our school’s weekly club meetings and Pre-Training Conference, showing much interest in possibly becoming an officer on John Marshall’s 2012-13 Board. His tremendous participation with and positive attitude toward Key Club has guaranteed Kevin the title of Member of the Month. Written by Vice President Joela Canlas

John Marshall’s Key Club would like to honor Jeffrey Padilla as Officer of the Month for January. Jeffrey is so passionate about Key Club and does as much as he can to help out. He did an outstanding job organizing and heading the Revo Café Fundraiser that our club hosted this month. The fundraiser turned out very successful and we would like to thank Jeffrey for all his hard work. He goes above and beyond, volunteering to help members and officers out with anything he can. Jeffrey is friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic - everything a Key Clubber should be and more! We’re grateful that we have him as part of our board because he inspires every one of us with his motivation and Key Club spirit! Written by Vice President Michelle Menechyan
