Divisional Rose Float Building On December 17th a group of my friends and I decided to attend the Divisional Rose Float building. We came ready to work the 8 hour shift. The morning began with an introduction of the Rose Parade and the rules of the campus. The people who ran it were actually quite nice and greeted us with welcoming smiles. After the short speech we began work inside the little tents. Our group was filled with other key clubbers from different schools and so we bonded and made new friends. After about 3 hours of work they provided us with food and a 30 minute break. Sure the 8 hours of flower cutting seems tedious but when around friends time flew by quickly. After our shift ended many people walked around. It's reward enough knowing that the work we had put in would be a big contributor on the creation of these amazing floats. -Lui Mendoza

I always enjoy going to our monthly Ronald McDonald House event. Its always so cheery and wonderful. This visit was one of the most memorable though! Besides cleaning and all the other tasks we did, we had the chance to sing to the children with other adult volunteers! Everyone joined in when we started. It was fantastic and all in the light of the Christmas season. The best part of it all was seeing the children so happy. The whole vibe of it all felt heartwarming. I'm thankful I got to meet those others volunteers who were so good natured. This event will definitely be remembered. Next year, I hope we can sing full Christmas carols! I can't wait to visit again! -Marion Barleta

For the month of December, John Marshall High’s Key Club would like to honor Kim Cabanting as Member of the Month. Kim shows her dedication to Key Club by attending every single meeting and taking part in many activities. This month, she donated toys for the Toy Drive held for Christmas and collected can tabs as well. She dedicated an ample amount of her time in order to decorate parade floats for the Rose Bowl and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House with Marshall - all in just one month. We would like to thank Kim for serving as a great role model for our other Key Club members as she shows her spirit by helping others and participating in virtually everything. There is not doubt in awarding her with December’s Member of the Month. GO KIM! Written by Vice President Michelle Menechyan

John Marshall High proudly recognizes Lui Mendoza as Officer of the Month. She has done a remarkable job in fulfilling her position by contributing numerous fundraising ideas and going above and beyond by always being there to lend a helping hand. Just this month, Lui has volunteered much of her time to help decorate parade floats for the Rose Bowl alongside other D3 Sharkeys and donated to the toy drive for this Christmas season. When it comes to anything Key Club-related Lui has one of the best hearts as she is always willing to assist others in any way she can. Her friendly and enthusiastic spirit has definitely played a significant role in earning her the spot at December’s Officer of the Month! Written by Vice President Joela Canlas
