Adiós 2020, vamos a mirar hacia adelante Estrenamos año y hemos puesto fin a 2020. Las luces de Navidad, dejarán de iluminar las calles y plazas pero sin embargo, en esta ocasión, no es lo mismo.

Normalmente, a primeros de enero estamos organizando nuestra rutina después de la Nochebuena y la Nochevieja con nuestras familias y amigos. Pero todos sabemos que esta ocasión, todo ha sido diferentes y nos ha sabido a muy poco.

Esta es la realidad que vivimos. Debemos seguir cuidándonos y cumpliendo las normas marcadas por las autoridades sanitarias porque aún no hemos ganado la batalla a un virus, que ha marcado el año y nuestras vidas. Pero quiero ser optimista. Y es que, con mucho esfuerzo, hemos conseguido bajar los contagios para poco a poco ir ganando no sólo la batalla sino la guerra contra la Covid-19.

Por eso, después de toda la paciencia que hemos tenido durante meses, ahora, en este nuevo año debemos recorrer más que nunca las calles de nuestros pueblos y disfrutar de nuestra gente, a la vez que apoyamos a nuestros comercios, adquiriendo en ellos todo aquello que nos ofrecen, porque nos necesitan más que nunca.

Desde aquí, un recuerdo en estas primeras líneas del año, para los familiares de las víctimas de la pandemia, los amigos y de todos los que sufren secuelas. Y es que este año, mi deseo para el Año Nuevo ha sido que os dé a todos mucha fuerza para salir adelante y que el virus desaparezca para siempre de nuestras vidas.

Y ya pensando en este año que estrenamos pedir a nuestros gobernantes, a los que allí, a los de más cerca y a los de aquí que hagan un esfuerzo por volcarse en las ayudas a las familias, comercios, hostelería y autónomos.

El 2020 ha sido un año muy duro, pero sólo nos queda mirar hacia delante y pensar que cada vez queda menos para recuperar la vida que teníamos. Mis mejores deseos para este 2021 que acabamos de estrenar.

Goodbye 2020, you won’t be missed!

Well that was a year wasn’t it? We can honestly say that the world will never be quite the same again, which in some respects might be a good thing.

Anyway let’s not dwell on the past twelve months, other than to spare some thoughts to those that didn’t make it. Instead let’s look forward to the future, which the current vaccination programme will hopefully provide us with, and the promise of some return to the ‘old normal’ and ditching the ‘new normal’, which let’s face it, never really got going.

But we’re not quite there yet, it’s almost like the virus knows its days are numbered and is staging one last banzai charge against the human population, so let’s not drop our guard just yet, with only a few months to go.

Once restrictions begin to lift it will be important to support those who have struggled during the pandemic, those businesses that have been brought to their knees need to be nurtured if we still want to benefit from their services. Never before has the old phrase ‘Use it or Lose it’ been so true, particularly in the culture and entertainment sector as well as the hospitality industry.

I know I’m looking forward to the return of live music and the summer festivals, along with all the colourful traditional events that are so much a part of why I love living in Andalucia.

So I hope this year turns out to be a good one for all of you.

Manilva El gobierno local, más unido que nunca, para afrontar un 2021 lleno de proyectos para el municipio Mario Jiménez, alcalde de Manilva, quiere comenzar el año 2021 con un mensaje de ilusión y es que asegura “aunque hemos dejado atrás un año complicado para todos, tenemos que ser capaces de hacer llegar a todos los vecinos y residentes, un mensaje sobre la fortaleza y los objetivos comunes que tiene este equipo de gobierno, que sin duda es, el mejor equipo de personas para trabajar, por los intereses de los vecinos".

El primer edil ha querido agradecer en todas y cada una de sus intervenciones para despedir el año, el trabajo de todas las concejalías "en unos tiempos en los que hemos tenido que dar respuestas claras y decididas a la población".

Jiménez destaca la estabilidad política que existe en el municipio, algo que asegura “ha permitido afrontar esta crisis sanitaria, económica y social con total decisión, transparencia y compromiso” y se muestra “convencido que el 2021 será un buen año para todos".

El regidor local se muestra esperanzado de que los importantes proyectos para el futuro del municipio, como la remodelación del Paseo Marítimo de Sabinillas y otros en los que el Consistorio continuará insistiendo para su definitiva resolución, como la regeneración de la Playa del Castillo, el puesto principal del cuartel de la Guardia Civil, la senda entre Manilva y Sabinillas o la futura entrada al polígono, “serán el necesario empuje que necesita la economía local”.

Tanto Mario Jiménez como Diego José Jiménez, quieren hacer llegar a los vecinos “un mensaje de prudencia” escenificó junto al concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Diego José Jiménez, “una extraordinaria sintonía” en una entrevista emitida en los medios públicos, para hacer balance del año.

Los responsables municipales realizaron un repaso general por la actualidad local, destacando la inversión municipal en los centros educativos, con una cifra de 630.000 € para la ampliación del Colegio de Sabinillas y destacando también las mejoras en los centros de infantil de Manilva, Sabinillas y El Castillo, así como en los colegios de Maicandil y Pablo Picasso.

Diego José Jiménez destacó en el transcurso de su intervención “los trabajos realizados en las calles Benito, Cuartel, Álvarez Leiva, vial del Peñoncillo, la zona de Martagina, la calle de los Pintores, el asfaltado en el Castillo y otras obras obras que asegura “están mejorando notablemente las infraestructuras del término municipal”.

En el campo de la Cultura, ambos dirigentes tienen muy claro que “los yacimientos son una atracción turística e histórica incluso a nivel mundial, por su riqueza”, y por ello aseguran “muy pronto será una realizad la puesta en valor del situado junto al monumento del Castillo, además de seguir potenciando el de Alcorrín”.

El proyecto de la Escuela de Música se suma al claro objetivo de potenciar la Cultura y que esta escuela, todo un referente en la provincia, pueda ubicarse muy pronto “en un espacio más moderno y acorde con lo que necesitan sus profesores y alumnos”, aseguran los dos líderes de las formaciones políticas (Compromiso Manilva y PSOE) que junto al PP conforman el gobierno local.

El gobierno local apuesta también con fuerza por el Medio Ambiente y por ello aseguran “la senda entre Manilva y Sabinillas, es otro de los proyectos por los que apostamos con fuerza”.

Tanto Mario Jiménez como Diego José Jiménez, quieren hacer llega a los vecinos “un mensaje de prudencia a la población para seguir cumpliendo con las normas en materia sanitaria” a pesar de la aparición de la vacuna contra la Co-

vid-19, pero también de optimismo “para que lo antes posible podamos retomar nuestras vidas tal y como

Endesa invertirá más de 6 millones de euros, para el refuerzo de sus infraestructuras eléctricas en Manilva

Endesa to invest more than 6 million euros, to strengthen Manilva’s electrical network

El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, y el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Diego José Jiménez, han mantenido una reunión con responsables de Endesa en la Costa del Sol, a raíz de las peticiones de mejoras solicitadas desde el Ayuntamiento y la necesidad de realizar un plan de inversión.

La empresa ha presentado el plan de actuaciones realizado en 2020 y las mejoras que la Compañía tiene previstas para 2021, con el fin de reforzar "la calidad de suministro del término municipal".

Endesa ha presentado al Consistorio un Plan de Actuación de cerca de 1 millón de euros, que dio comienzo este mismo año, con una inversión de 424.000 euros para la digitalización de 16 centros de transformación de Manilva en los que se han instalado telemandos.

A lo largo de 2021 Endesa continuará digitalizando sus centros de distribución en Manilva, teniendo previsto para el próximo año la instalación de 19 telemandos, invirtiendo en este proceso 700.000 euros.

mación, el soterramientos de diferentes tramos de líneas aéreas de Media Tensión y la construcción de una nueva subestación de transformación de 66 a 22 kilovoltios que beneficiará a más de 42.000 clientes y reforzará el suministro de toda la localidad de Manilva.

Todas estas actuaciones sumarán en 2021 una inversión de más de 650.000 €, ampliándose la misma a más de 6.000.000 € con la entrada en servicio de la nueva subestación.

Tras conocer los detalles del Plan de Inversión de Endesa para Manilva, el regidor local y el edil confirmaron "la coordinación necesaria entre las dos entidades para seguir trabajando conjuntamente en la mejora de las infraestructuras de la localidad".

La Fundación Aquae recuperará más de 20.000 m2 del paraje natural de El Calvario

La Fundación Aquae ha puesto en marcha su segunda reforestación de este año, con una nueva acción que recuperará más de 20.000 m2 del paraje natural de El Calvario y que permitirá absorber 80 toneladas de CO2 durante las tres próximas décadas.

La reforestación, que se

realiza con la colaboración de Hidralia y el propio Ayuntamiento, contempla la plantación de 800 árboles de siete especies autóctonas, en concreto, se plantarán 240 ejemplares de Pino Carrasco, 160 de Encina, 120 de Almendro, 80 de Ciprés y Acebuche, respectivamente, 40 de

Alcornoque y el mismo número de Algarrobos.

El trabajo se desarrolla de la mano de Sylvestris, una empresa social experta en siembras de masa forestal, con la que se está implementando desde su inicio el proyecto "Sembrando Oxígeno".

93 nacionalidades conviven en el municipio La delegación de Residentes Extranjeros, dirigida por Laura López, ha realizado un balance en el que se recogen datos muy importantes y significativos en cuanto a las nacionalidades existentes en el municipio y el número de personas extranjeras empadronadas.

El censo actual del término municipal es de 17.551 personas, siendo el 40,5%, es decir, 7.114, el volumen de población extranjera.

Con respecto al pasado año, Manilva ha aumentado de 88 a 93 nacionalidades, siendo las más numerosas por número de empadronados: Según comentó la edil: “continuaremos trabajando para facilitar el empadronamiento a las personas que lo necesiten ya que esto significa, además de regularizar sus situaciones particulares y que puedan optar a los servicios municipales con total garantía, el que nuestro municipio crezca y pueda beneficiarse de ayudas y proyectos que se otorgan a términos con más volumen de población”, apuntó.

Además, desde la citada área se continuará con el asesoramiento a los residentes extranjeros para la obtención del permiso de residencia y demás trámites burocráticos.

93 nationalities make up the population of Manilva The Foreign Residents department, headed by Laura López, has collated statistics in which significant data has been published

regarding the nationalities of those living in the municipality and the number of foreigners registered.

The current census of the

municipality is 17,551 people, with 40.5%, that is, 7,114, being foreigners.

With respect to last year, this number in Manilva has increased from 88 to 93 nationalities, the most numerous by number of registered people are shown in the table above.

As the Councillor commented: “we will continue working to facilitate the registration of people who need it since this means, in addition to regularizing their particular situations and that they can access municipal services with full guarantee, that our municipality grows and can benefit from aid and projects that are granted to municipalities with larger populations”, she pointed out.

In addition, the Foreign Residents department will continue to advise residents to obtain a residence permit and other bureaucratic procedures.

“Artistic Inlining”, la nueva modalidad deportiva de Patinaje Artístico en Manilva

Desde el 10 de enero, abra sus puertas la nueva “Academia de Patinaje Artístico en Línea”, una nueva actividad que albergará el Pabellón polideportivo de Las Viñas en una actividad en la que tendrán cabida jóvenes patinadores.

“Artistic Inlining”, así se llama la actividad, recrea la sensación y apariencia del Patinaje Artístico sobre hielo, sin la necesidad de una superficie helada, siendo un deporte competitivo y recreativo de rápido desarrollo.

Manilva contará con dos entrenadores de patinaje internacionales de alto nivel en esta disciplina como son, Jenni y Mike Smith de GB, que serán los responsables de esta nueva Academia de Patinaje que representa, una gran oportunidad para que todo aquel interesado, aprenda nuevas habilidades, bajo la supervisión de Jenni que es una entrenadora nacional y campeona del mundo.

Así que ya lo sabes, desde el 10 de enero en el Pabellón de Las Viñas de Manilva, a las once de la mañana con tus propios patines en línea ya puedes disfrutar de la primera sesión de forma gratuita, en unas clases que se organizarán en grupos reducidos, para respetar el distanciamiento social y que cumplirán todas las medidas sanitarias, en un ambiente agradable y divertido.

Artistic Inlining recreates the sensation and appearance of ice figure skating, without the need for an ice surface and is a fast developing competitive and recreational sport. Manilva is very lucky to have two high level international skating coaches in its midst, Jenni and Mike Smith from GB who are setting up the new skating academy, offering a great opportunity for local youngsters to learn new skills. Jenni is a top level World Championship and National Coach.

La publicación por parte de la Delegación de Medio Ambiente, que dirige Laura López, de un folleto desplegable de Rutas de Senderismo que pueden practicarse dentro del término municipal de Manilva y alrededores, ha sido el empujón definitivo para la creación de este grupo de senderistas bajo el nombre de "Senderismo en Manilva". w w w. fa c e b o o k .c o m / groups/140375537626216 El promotor del grupo, ya ha puesto en funcionamiento un Grupo de Facebook donde todas las personas interesadas pueden inscribirse y aportar sus ideas para disfrutar de esta actividad, asegurando que "el grupo nace con el único fin de disfrutar del magnífico paisaje y entorno en el que vivimos y la edición por parte del Ayuntamiento de una magnífica guía nos anima aún más a la puesta en marcha de este grupo abierto a todos".

necesidades especiales, Residencia, Estimulación temprana para niños de 0 a 6 años, así como un Centro de apoyo a las familias.

Los responsables municipales recorrieron las distintas zonas de este centro de referencia en Andalucía y con el que el Ayuntamiento de Manilva, abrirá a partir de ahora distintas lineas de colaboración de cara a un futuro próximo, ya que el equipo de gobierno está dispuesto a colaborar en todo aquello que está a su alcance.

Casares Casares aprueba un presupuesto de más de 15 millones de euros para 2021 El Pleno Municipal del Ayuntamiento de Casares aprobó las cuentas municipales para el próximo año 2021, con los votos a favor de IU y PSOE y la abstención del PP. El Alcalde de Casares, Pepe Carrasco, ha explicado que "estas cuentas darán continuidad a las políticas de innovación, generación de empleo, protección de las personas y promoción de los servicios públicos, combinado con una política ambiciosa en el ámbito de las infraestructuras".

Para Carrasco, "este es un presupuesto que busca afrontar y dar respuesta a los nuevos retos que se presentan en el municipio, siendo también prudente al tener en cuenta la situación actual de pandemia que vivimos".

El presupuesto alcanza los 15.648.111 euros en el apartado de gastos y en el apartado de ingresos 15.841.699 euros.

Destaca en las nuevas cuentas para el ejercicio del 2021, el capítulo de inversiones dotado con más de 2 millones de euros, al que hay que sumar 600.000 euros de remanente de Tesorería, y en el que se incluyen 60 proyectos de infraestructuras atendiendo

a las necesidades "de cada uno de los núcleos urbanos del municipio".

La concejala de Hacienda, Rocío Ruiz ha explicado que "otro capítulo que crece en 2021 es el destinado a servicios públicos que alcanza los 5.230.439 euros que permitirán materializar las políticas destinadas a la ciudadanía".

La intervención del PP de Casares que se abstuvo en la votación, se ha centrado en calificar el presupuesto "como complicado de llevar a cabo en estos momentos difíciles" manifestando a pesar de todo que su postura "es de colaboración", ha dicho su portavoz Javier Quero, quien afirma que "no están en contra, pero que su voto es el de la abstención, por considerarlos poco realistas.

El PSOE por su parte ha afirmado que su intención "es dar ejemplo y acabar con la visión que se ha tenido de la política municipal en Casares en los últimos tiempos".

Quieren colaborar con el gobierno municipal, ha dicho su portavoz José Antonio Pineda, pues su trabajo “no consiste en inquietar ni generar crispación, sino en aportar idas y resolver problemas”.

odos los alumnos de Casares cuentan ya con pantallas interactivas en las aulas de sus colegios y guarderías. Con la adquisición de 5 nuevas unidades, todas las clases de los centros escolares del municipio disponen ya de estos elementos digitales Desde el Consistorio se asegura que "se ponen todos los recursos disponibles para mejorar la calidad en la educación de nuestro municipio, con diferentes iniciativas e inversiones".

En este año 2020, el Ayuntamiento ha invertido más de 15.000 € en este tipo de material didáctico e interactivo para mejorar la calidad de la enseñanza, una partida económica y un actuación que completa la ya iniciada en los cursos 2018 y 2019.

Se trata de pantallas interactivas de gran tamaño conectadas a los ordenadores que permiten la puesta en común de ejercicios prácticos.

La pizarra digital interactiva es una pantalla dotada con un proyector y co-

nectada al ordenador, que muestra el contenido del mismo en una gran pantalla que además es sensible al tacto.

Esta nueva tecnología ofrece, según los educadores una gran ventaja para profesores y alumnado, pues les posibilita interactuar con las imágenes, una gran diferencia en relación con una pantalla digital normal, permitiendo realizar los ejercicios prácticos de los programas educativos y corregirlos en soporte digital.

Manilva Solicitors Modelo 720: Declaración Sobre Bienes y Derechos Situados En El Extranjero Todos los residentes fiscales en España, es decir, aquellos que viven aquí más de 183 días al año o que tienen en nuestro país la principal base de su negocio deberían estar informados de que, como consecuencia de la legislación aprobada en 2012 para la prevención y control del fraude, si poseen bienes fuera de España por un valor igual o superior a 50.000 € tendrán que presentar en Hacienda el Modelo 720.

Esta declaración permite a la Agencia Tributaria tener un control de estos bienes y fondos y asegurarse de que se paguen los impuestos pertinentes.

En la página web de Hacienda www.agenciatributaria.es puede encontrarse

el Modelo 720 y completarse online. El período establecido para presentarlo es el primer trimestre (desde el 1 de enero al 31 de marzo) del primer año en el que se es residente.

Cumpliendo con el plazo evitaremos ser investigados o multados.

Los bienes fuera de España que están sujetos a esta declaración pueden dividirse en tres categorías: 1. Bienes inmuebles.

2. Todo tipo de cuentas, inversiones, depósitos bancarios y empresas.

3. Acciones, alquileres, seguros, bonos o dividendos adquiridos o gestionados fuera de España.

Será obligatorio presentar

esta declaración cuando el valor total de los bienes o activos sea de 50.000 € o más en CADA UNA O EN CUALQUIERA DE LAS CATEGORÍAS. Por ejemplo, si tenemos dos propiedades valoradas en 30.000€, aunque el valor individual no llegue al límite, el total (60.000 €) sí lo supera y tendríamos, por tanto, que presentar el Modelo.

Sin embargo, si tenemos una propiedad valorada en 30.000€ y, por ejemplo, acciones por otros 30.000€, al pertenecer a categorías distintas y no alcanzar ninguna los 50.000€ no tendríamos que hacer la declaración.

Con respecto al número de propietarios, cada uno de ellos deberá presentar una declaración individual,

independientemente de cuántos sean y del porcentaje de participación. Por ejemplo, si se posee la mitad de una propiedad con un valor de 50.000 €, aunque su parte no alcance el límite (25.000€) el total de la propiedad sí lo hace, por lo que cada propietario deberá presentar una declaración individual por el total del valor.

Es importante tener en cuenta que aunque esta declaración de bienes y derechos es únicamente informativa y no requiere el pago de ningún impuesto, no presentarla, hacerlo fuera de plazo o con información falsa puede tener consecuencias graves.

Por esta razón, recomendamos a los residentes fiscales en España que

cumplan con su obligación de declarar sus bienes fuera del país y eviten así la posible imposición de multas, que pueden variar entre los 10.000€ y el 150% del valor de los bienes no declarados.

Hay que tener en cuenta también que una vez que hemos hecho la primera declaración no tendremos que volver a presentarla de nuevo en los años posteriores, a no ser que el valor de los bienes en cualquiera de las categorías aumente o disminuya 20.000€ o más.

Modelo 720 - Tax Form 720 Tax Declaration Of Assets Outside Of Spain By Tax Residents In Spain It is important that all individuals who are tax residents in Spain, (those living in Spain for more than 183 days a year or when Spain is the main base for your business) be aware that as a result of legislation approved in year 2012 for the prevention and control fraud, all residents in Spain who have any assets outside of Spain with a value of € 50,000 or more, are required to submit this declaration form 720 to the Spanish authorities. It was created by the Spanish Authorities in order to control assets or funds that people have outside Spain. With this declaration that Spanish Tax Office will be aware of them and can control that appropriate taxes are paid on them.

This declaration can be made online, through the Tax Office`s web page

www.agenciatributaria. es where the Modelo 720 (Statement of Assets Outside Spain) can be located and completed. It must be filed during the first quarter each year (from 1st January to 31st March) of the first year of residence, to avoid being investigated or fined by the Spanish authorities.

The assets outside of Spain that are subject to this new declaration form fall into 3 categories: 1. Real Estate.

2. All types of accounts, investments, bank deposits and companies.

3. Actions, rent, insurance, bonds or dividends acquired or managed outside Spain.

To warrant a declaration the total value of assets should be € 50,000 or more in EACH OR ANY ONE of

the categories; e.g. if we have 2 properties valued at € 30,000 although the value individually would be below the threshold the total value of both would be €60,000 thus exceeding this limit, and therefore subject to this new declaration, necessitating the completion and filing of Modelo 720. However, if you have a property valued at €30,000 and say, shares valued at €30,000 as they are in separate categories and each total value does not exceed the €50,000 then you would not be required to make a declaration.

A declaration must be submitted individually by the owner / s, regardless of their number and the percentage of participation, which would be established later. For example, if you own half of a property

with a value of €50,000, although your €25,000 share is below the threshold, each owner would still be required to submit an individual declaration based on the total value of the property.

Although this declaration of assets and rights abroad is solely informative and NO TAX is charged, failure to file, late filing or false information could result in serious consequences.

For this reason, we recommend that residents in Spain fulfill their obligation to declare their assets outside Spain, to avoid the imposition of fines from a minimum of € 10,000 to a

maximum of 150% of the value of those undeclared assets located outside Spain.

Once you have made your first declaration it is not necessary to present any further declarations in subsequent years, unless any of your assets in any category increases or decreases by more than €20,000 above the initial value declared.

Estepona A licitación la construcción de un nuevo parking subterráneo público en la avda. de España El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha licitado la redacción del proyecto básico y de ejecución para la construcción de un nuevo aparcamiento subterráneo público en la céntrica avenida de España, junto al paseo marítimo. El aparcamiento discurrirá desde la calle Delfín hasta la intersección con la avenida Juan Carlos I. El proyecto contempla también la reurbanización de la superficie donde se ha proyectado el aparcamiento subterráneo. Coincidiendo con la remodelación integral del paseo marítimo que está en estos momentos en ejecución, se renovará la pavimentación y el mobiliario urbano con elementos modernos y eficientes. Otro objetivo fundamental de esta actuación será la repoblación vegetal

y la plantación de árboles y creación de jardines en las áreas remodeladas de la superficie.

Además de la redacción del proyecto básico y de ejecución, el pliego de condiciones establece que la adjudicataria de los trabajos también deberá redactar la Dirección de Obra y el Plan de Coordinación de Seguridad y Salud de las obras.

Las empresas interesadas en concurrir podrán presentar sus ofertas hasta el próximo 2 de enero, a las 14.00 horas.

El precio del contrato no podrá exceder los 314.600 euros. La adjudicataria de los trabajos deberá elaborar los proyectos básicos y de ejecución en un plazo de dos meses, una vez que se formalice la firma del contrato.

Esta nueva infraestructura, que ocupará una superficie de más de 6.600 metros cuadrados, se incluye dentro del Plan Municipal de Aparcamientos, que el Consistorio ha puesto en marcha para dotar de estacionamientos las zonas con mayor densidad de población.

Reconocimiento al trabajo de Cáritas Diocesana y de Jacqueline Brossier El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha entregado los XV Premios Estepona Social y Solidaria a Cáritas Diocesana y a la voluntaria Jacqueline Brossier.

El Consistorio reconoce cada año el trabajo realizado en el ámbito social por colectivos y particulares que atienden a los vecinos más vulnerables.

Estos premios son otor-

gados mediante un sistema de votación por los voluntarios de las distintas asociaciones y entidades benéficas que forman parte del Consejo Local del Voluntariado.

Con respecto a los galardonados, García Urbano ha destacado la labor siempre activa de Cáritas Diocesana en ayuda de los más necesitados de la ciudad y el espíritu de entrega de

todos sus voluntarios. De la misma forma, ha valorado la dedicación altruista y solidaria de Jacqueline Brossier, así como su incesante trabajo de colaboración con distintas asociaciones de la localidad a las que presta su apoyo y ayuda desde hace años.

En esta edición también se

han entregado menciones a María José Brenes por su labor solidaria durante el confinamiento a través del reparto de material sanitario a centros de salud y residencias de ancianos y a Dario Tentoni, Ana Carmen Valle Sánchez, María de los Ángeles Corrales Soto e Idelfonso Abril Ti-

rado por su trabajo en el comedor social, especialmente, durante estos meses de pandemia. También, a título póstumo, se ha hecho un reconocimiento a Luisa Reyes Naranjo por el trabajo desempeñado durante años como conserje del Centro Social ‘Entre Todos’.

Each year Estepona Town Council recognizes the social work carried out by groups and individuals who serve the most vulnerable members of the community. These honours are awarded through a voting system by the volunteers of the various associations and charities that are part of Estepona’s Local Volun-

teer Council.

In regard to the winners, García Urbano has highlighted the constant work of Cáritas Diocesana in helping those most in need in the town and the spirit of dedication of all its volunteers. In the same way, he has also valued Jacqueline Brossier's altruistic and caring dedication, as well as her incessant work of collaboration with various local associations which she has been supporting and helping for years.

In this edition, mentions were also given to María

José Brenes for her solidarity work during confinement through the distribution of medical supplies to health centres and nursing homes and to Dario Tentoni, Ana Carmen Valle Sánchez, María de los Ángeles Corrales Soto and Idelfonso Abril Tirado for his work in the social kitchen, especially during these months of pandemic.

Luisa Reyes Naranjo was also posthumously recognized for her work for years as a caretaker at the ‘Entre Todos’ Social Centre.

La Ruta de la Poesía de Estepona alcanza las 40 obras con unos versos de Rafael Alberti El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha ampliado la Ruta de la Poesía con los versos de ‘Marinero en tierra’

del gaditano Rafael Alberti.

Con este poema, que puede leerse en una placa de la céntrica calle Genalguacil,

se alcanzan las 40 obras que pueden ser disfrutadas por los paseantes del casco antiguo.

La teniente alcalde del área Sociocultural, Begoña Ortiz, ha indicado que este proyecto cultural, que dio comienzo en 2012, se ha ido enriqueciendo con poetas de diversas nacionalidades y épocas. “A partir de ahora, nuestra Ruta de Poesía incorpora a uno de los principales representantes de la Generación del 27 con un poema que reivindica el mar, que está

especialmente presente en nuestra ciudad”, ha continuado Ortiz.

Además de la placa con los versos de ‘Marinero en tierra’, se ha instalado

un busto de Rafael Alberti.

De esta manera, Estepona rinde homenaje a un creador que formó parte de la también conocida ‘Generación de Plata’.

Estepona cederá una parcela para la construcción de una nueva comisaría para la Policía Nacional El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha aprobado la cesión gratuita de una parcela al Ministerio del Interior para la construcción del edificio de la futura Comisaría del Cuerpo Nacional de Policía.

Para contribuir en la mejora de las actuales instalaciones de la Comisaría de Estepona, el Ayuntamiento va a poner a disposición del Gobierno central un terreno de 4.159 metros cuadrados en la calle Letonia, que se ubica en la zona de Las Mesas, junto a los terrenos donde se proyecta la construcción del Palacio de Justicia que aglutinará todas las sedes judiciales de la ciudad.

Por otra parte, el Consistorio ha aprobado el cambio de uso de la parcela que

se va a ceder al Ministerio del Interior. En la actualidad, está calificada para equipamiento público asistencial en el Plan General de Ordenación Urbana (PGOU). Para posibilitar la construcción de la futura Comisaría, el Ayuntamiento realizará los trámites

para que tenga un uso administrativo.

En este sentido, el Ministerio ya se ha pronunciado sobre la idoneidad de dicho emplazamiento para la nueva Comisaría, que sustituirá a las actuales instalaciones, que presentan importantes carencias.

Estepona afronta 2021, con un presupuesto de 101 millones y un aumento en las inversiones El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, ha explicado que “son unas cuentas para una nueva recuperación”, que mantienen “el rigor, la credibilidad, la rigurosidad, el cumplimiento de las normativas que le son de aplicación, que no dejan a nadie atrás y que siguen impulsando el desarrollo económico de la ciudad”. Asimismo, ha destacado que se trata de un documento con un marcado carácter social, donde las cuantías económicas vinculadas a ayudas y programas sociales se han declarado ‘partidas ampliables’; esto es, tendrán carácter ilimitado y se podrán incrementar conforme a las necesidades que se produzcan durante el ejercicio.

Ha indicado Urbano que el

equipo de gobierno continuará con el carácter inversor que ha marcado la gestión de los últimos nueve años. De esta forma, ha recordado que el Ayuntamiento puso en marcha tras el inicio de la pandemia un plan de acción para impulsar la recuperación económica y social, que ha movilizado hasta el momento 42 millones de euros, de un total de 80 millones que se prevén poner en circulación mediante proyectos municipales y el impulso de otras iniciativas.

En concreto, las partidas para inversiones productivas incluidas en el Presupuesto crecen hasta los 16,2 millones de euros, la mayor cifra registrada en la historia de la ciudad.

Se trata de cuantías para

continuar con obras ya iniciadas como el nuevo edificio Consistorial, que aglutine las dependencias municipales y mejore el servicio a los ciudadanos; el Plan Municipal de Aparcamientos Subterráneos, que contempla avanzar en la obra del aparcamiento

para medio millar de vehículos en el entorno de la plaza del Ajedrez y en otro en la avenida de España.

Asimismo, se incorporan partidas para la culminación y mantenimiento del proyecto de corredor litoral que está uniendo todo el frente marítimo; así

como para la continuidad del proceso de remodelación y embellecimiento del centro urbano, que suma más de 130 calles renovadas en todas sus infraestructuras; la mejora de equipamientos públicos; la creación de zonas verdes y parques infantiles; la con-

Además, se incorporan fondos para la ejecución de proyectos cofinanciados mediante los fondos eupeos Edusi, entre ellos, la remodelación de la segunda fase de la céntrica avenida de Andalucía y la remodelación del paseo marítimo.

La seguridad ciudadana se refuerza con la adquisición de vehículos para Policía

Local y Protección Civil; así como con la dotación de partidas para la cobertura de la convocatoria pública de nueve plazas de agentes.

Respecto a la inversión social, este ejercicio económico estará marcado por una especial atención a las necesidades sociales que se deriven del impacto de la pandemia. De esta forma, se dedican más de seis millones de euros a programas, ayudas e iniciativas para apoyar a ciuda-

danos que se encuentran en situación de vulnerabilidad.

Al respecto ha incidido en que “nadie en Estepona se va a quedar atrás y que aquí no va a pasar como ha hecho el Gobierno central, que no ha dado ni un euro de ayudas a los ayuntamientos después de que llevamos más de nueve meses haciendo frente a gastos extraordinarios por esta pandemia”.

Sobre esta materia, hay que reseñar una partida,

que podrá ser ampliable, de medio millón de euros para el Plan de Empleo Municipal; así como el incremento de las cuantías para las asociaciones sin ánimo de lucro que prestan ayuda a los más desfavorecidos, con más de 150.000 euros. Asimismo, la partida de ayudas de emergencia social tendrá carácter ilimitado, siendo concedidas a todas aquellas personas que se encuentren en la situación correspondiente para esta ayuda.

Asimismo, se incrementan las dotaciones para los programas pioneros de salud como el de detección precoz del cáncer ginecológico y urológico (197.000 euros), el de detección precoz y prevención de enfermedades cardíacas ‘Estepona, Ciudad Cardiosaludable’ (131.000 euros), las ayudas económicas y familiares y el fondo de habitabilidad para la reparaciones en inmuebles de ciudadanos con escasos recursos.

Let the power of nature help you look after your body and mind. Essential oils, extracted from the plants and flora, have helped people since the Ancient Egyptians began using them in religion, cosmetics as well as medicinal and embalming applications.

Lavender, is one oil we are all familiar with but in the local stockist, they have at least 30 different types, because each has different benefits.

Sleep Lavender is known to be good for sleep, but it is can be mixed with Bergamot (Happiness) and Sandalwood (Calming) or Eucalyptus (breathing). Using a diffuser in your bedroom will provide a 24 hour aroma and support.

Alternatively, you can apply it yourself using specially formulated forms like the “Fall Asleep” product that contains a mix of 100% es-

sential oils in a soothing Vitamin E carrier oil base.

This is a roll-on and people have found it helps them get a better night sleep.

Hair Health Lavender is well known for its antibacterial properties however, it is less known for its help in hair growth and scalp health. It has properties that can generate the growth of cells.

Mix several drops of lavender oil into 3 tablespoons of carrier oil, like olive oil or melted coconut oil, and apply it directly to your scalp.

Leave it in for at least 10 minutes before washing it out and shampooing as you normally would. You can do this several times per week. You might also like to mix 2 drops of peppermint essential oil with the carrier oil of your choice.

Massage it into your scalp, and leave on for 5 minutes before washing out thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner. It increases circulation to the area it is applied to and has been found to increase the number of follicles, follicle depth, and overall hair growth.

Tea tree is commonly used in anti-dandruff treatment products. You can mix 10 drops of tea tree essential oil into your shampoo or conditioner and use it daily. Or, you can mix 3 drops with 2 tablespoons of a carrier oil, and leave it on

Los Patinetes eléctricos, tienen prohibido circular por las aceras y zonas peatonales El pasado mes de noviembre el Consejo de Ministros aprobó un paquete de reformas legales en materia de tráfico y circulación.

El objetivo es generar un nuevo modelo de seguridad vial alineado con la Unión Europea y las recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud.

Con ello se pretende reducir un 50% el número de fallecidos y heridos graves en accidentes de tráfico durante los próximos diez

años.

Desde el 2 de enero, entrarán en vigor las modificaciones relativas al Reglamento de Circulación y Vehículos, con la excepción del artículo 50 que hace referencia a las velocidades en las zonas urbanas.

La nueva normativa define los Vehículos de Movilidad Personal (VMP) como vehículos de una o más ruedas dotados de una única plaza y propulsados exclusivamente por motores eléc-

tricos que pueden alcanzar una velocidad máxima de 6 a 25 km/h. Con ello se excluye a los vehículos para personas con movilidad reducida.

Como el resto de vehículos, los patinetes eléctricos tendrán prohibida su circulación por las aceras y por las zonas peatonales.

Una medida que servirá para pacificar la convivencia con los viandantes.

Tampoco podrán desplazarse por túneles urbanos

La Comunidad en bancarrota, ¿qué pasa si nos endeudamos demasiado? Cómo evitar que esto suceda Las cuentas comunitarias tienden a cubrir un periodo de 12 meses, pero esto puede variar según los estatutos u acuerdo en Junta.

La ley no define especificamente la duración del ejercicio, ni cuándo debe comenzar o finalizar. La comunidad debe cumplir con determinadas declaraciones fiscales que cubren el año natural, es decir, de enero a diciembre, por lo que es muy recomendable que las comunidades ajusten su ejercicio financiero a este periodo, ya que no sabemos qué declaraciones fiscales serán obliga-

torias en el futuro.

Independientemente de la situación financiera, ni Gobierno ni hacienda intervendrán en una comunidad debido a una situación de bancarrota, y las auditorias no son obligatorias, al menos que se especifique en los estatutos. Entonces, ¿qué pasa si la comunidad está en bancarrota y no puede pagar sus deudas?

Una comunidad está formada por todos los propietarios, independientemente del tipo de propiedad, y todos responden ante las deudas de la comunidad si la comunidad no puede

Si estáis en esta situación, las únicas opciones son reducir los servicios o aumentar las cuotas. Hay que buscar el equilibrio. Sí, el Presidente es responsable de supervisar la situación, pero legalmente no necesita ser contable, por lo que necesita ser asesorado apropiadamente para que la situación no empeore.

garemos las deudas cuando los morosos paguen’ o ‘pintaremos la urbanización cuando los morosos paguen’, pero eso es postponer la realidad, sabemos que pagaran, pero no se puede contar con esos fondos para resolver los problemas de hoy.

Es importante que esto se tenga en cuenta, especialmente este año, ya que los ingresos de muchas comunidades están disminuyendo, ya que hay propietarios que no pueden pagar sus cuotas debido a la situación actual. Esto se deber

revisar ahora, no esperar a que estemos en números rojos, que la única solución no sea que los que pagan las cuotas acaben pagando más aún, no podemos contar con el dinero de los deudores. Aun podéis revisar los costes, aseguraros de que los empleados hagan su trabajo, de que uséis proveedores locales y de confianza, que se preocupen por la comunidad, porque al final del día, tener gente a la que les importe, es la mejor situación posible para toda comunidad.

No es una buena manera de terminar el año, pero la previsión lo es todo, las cuentas provisionales estarán disponibles después de las vacaciones, y recuerda que siempre hay que mirar la posición global y luego desglosarlo, la comunidad pertenece a todos los propietarios, y también lo hacen las deudas.

El nuevo año está aquí, nadie dijo que será fácil, pero estamos aquí para vivirlo, amarlo, y disfrutarlo. ¡Nuestros mejores deseos para el 2021!

Community Bankruptcy, what happens if we are in over our head? How to stop this happening Community accounts tend to run on a 12 month basis, but this can vary if agreed at a meeting or in the statutes. The law does not specify the financial term, the length or when it should start or end. The community does, however, need to comply with certain tax declarations that run according to the Spanish financial year, from January to December, so it is highly recommended that communities adjust their financial term to this period, as we do not know what tax declarations will be compulsory in the future.

Regardless of the financial situation, the Government or the tax office will not intervene in a community due to bankruptcy, and an audit is not compulsory, unless specified in the

statutes. So what happens if the community is bankrupt and cannot pay its bills?

A community is formed by all owners of properties, regardless of their property type, and they respond to any community debt if the community does not have the money to pay. Therefore the overall financial picture is very important and one of the reasons why you need to keep everyone paid up, including banks. If the community takes out a bank loan, the guarantors for that bank loan will be each owner, and if the community fails to pay, then the bank can go against and owner for their share of the debt. This would however be the last case scenario, as prior to this, the court would have issued an embargo on the

community bank account and would have seized all funds available, the same would happen if you had a big legal bill or any other debts. This is something each owner needs to keep in mind when thinking ‘the community will pay for it’, because all owners are the community.

Basically, what you need to look into isn’t just the balance sheet at the end of the year, the deviations on each of the items detailed in this budget, but the final position. If all your bills are paid and you have money in the bank (forget about the debtors as they will not help in the short run).

If you are in over your head, the only option is to cut services or increase fees. You need to balance things out. Yes, the President is responsible for su-

pervising the situation, but he does not legally need to be an accountant, so he needs to be advised appropriately so that the situation doesn’t get worse.

The situation with debtors make things worst, we have heard many a time that ‘we will pay the bills when the debtors pay’ or ‘we will paint the urbanization when the debtors pay’, but that’s pie in the sky, as they will eventually pay, but you can’t count on those funds for your financial status.

It’s important for this to be taken into account, especially this year, as community income is dropping as owners can’t pay their fees due to the current situation. Look into this now, do not wait until you are in the red, as when fees go up, they go up for the good

payers, we can’t wait on the money from debtors. And look into your costs, make sure your employees do the work they are being paid for, make sure you have local, trustworthy providers who care, because at the end of the day having people in charge who care, is the best-case scenario for every community.

Not a nice way to end the year, but prevision is everything, partial accounts will be available after the holidays, and remember, always look at the big picture and then break it down, the community belongs to all owners, and so do the debts.

Diego Corriente VI Rogelio Todos dijeron no haber descubierto nada, no se veía rastro de los guardias por lado alguno, claro que, Diego era el único que tenía un catalejo; por eso había visto lo que sus compañeros no habían podido ver. ─Han debido de caminar a oscuras, pues le han dado la vuelta a media finca para situarse a espaldas del cortijo grande, no sé cuantos hay. Águila, ¿tú cuantos viste marcharse?─ el aludido dijo que cuatro, más los dos que se habían quedado en la mancha de matorrales─. Pues se les han debido de sumar algunos más; a ellos no los he podido ver, porque deben de estar bien oculto, pero a sus caballos es más difícil de ocultarlos, quizás

por eso he descubierto su estratagema; nos han tendido una trampa, ya dije que ese capitán es astuto y sabe que la cuadra de caballos de este terrateniente, es muy valiosa.

Respondió Diego mirando a sus compañeros, mientras se bajaba de su parapeto.

Pero volvamos a la diligencia de lujo que transporta en su interior a la bella y orgullosa señorita, amiga íntima de don Francisco de Bruna. Nada más perderse los bandoleros de vista, Isabel (nombre de la señorita), ordena al cochero que arrease al tiro de caballos, pues, había que llegar lo antes posible a Sevilla. Gracias a la calidad de los caballos que tiraban de la diligencia

con poco esfuerzo debido a la poca carga que transportaba; Isabel consiguió entrevistarse con su amigo o amante (Nunca se supo, pues don Francisco de Bruna siempre permaneció soltero; por lo que, hubo malas lenguas que decían dudar de su virilidad como hombre), y contarle el suceso. Don Francisco, que desde el primer encuentro con Diego aquel día que se dirigía a Utrera y lo humilló ordenándole que le atase los cordones de su bota; le había cogido mucha, pero que mucha ojeriza; tras escuchar a Isabel, ordenó que los mejores jinetes del acuartelamiento se destacasen a toda prisa hacia la sierra norte de Sevilla. Por alguna razón, don

Francisco sospechó que Diego se dirigía a una de las haciendas que se dedicaba a la cría de ovejas y cerdos además de, a la cría y doma de caballos para el ejército y otros menesteres, como era la tauromaquia en todos sus modelos de ejecución. Así que, ordenó que no perdieran el tiempo buscándole y se dirigieran a revienta caballo a los cortijos principales de las dos haciendas que, bien podían ser el objetivo de los bandoleros. La ayuda de algún pastor, fue primordial para saber a cuál de ellas se dirigían; ya que, aunque no les dijo mucho, fue suficiente con la negación del pastor de que por aquellos caminos hubiera pasado ningún grupo de

jinetes, ya terratenientes, ya bandolero. El capitán que dirigía la operación no dudó más, los bandidos tenían como objetivo una finca de cría de caballos situada entre Cazalla y Constantina. La operación se montó sobre la marcha y fue por cuestión de pocos minutos que la partida de bandoleros no los pillaran cuando se estaban situando en la mancha de matorrales y chaparros. Pero el capitán sabía de sobras de la astucia de Diego, así que había ordenado esconderse a cuatro de sus hombres mientras el resto, ocho más, esperaban emboscado a que comenzara un tiroteo que nunca llegó a iniciarse.

A New Year View from the Village Adam Paul Whalley-Lewis Happy New Year from Casares Village. Our view just now is characterised by cold, crisp mornings, spectacular sunrise and sunsets and star gazing with hot chocolate. I am still fascinated by picking out the lights in Morocco and in different times, watching the ships sailing along the coastline.

Christmas, New Year and Three Kings celebrations were different this year too. If you got to see any of the Light Shows around Casares, I’m sure it warmed you up, just as much as my star gazing hot chocolate. We also enjoyed Father Christmas touring around Casares, not sure about the open top BMW mind you, but the elves and the music was fun for children of all ages, even those who haven’t technically been children for quite some time.

Although New Year celebrations were mainly via video calls this year, there was a festive atmosphere in the village and there were fireworks and small,

family parties at midnight – very different to our first New Year in Spain.

Our first New Year experience was three years ago, with friends Linda, Gary Marty and Lindsay.

We all had a home cooked meal, some Manilva wine and wrapped up to head to the Plaza de Espana to grab a table, get our twelve grapes ready and toast the New Year with music and more wine.

As we made our way to the Square, we didn’t really notice how quiet it was and it wasn’t until we arrived at the fountain that we realised we were the only people there, the bars and restaurants were closed up and as we remember it, some tumbleweed rolled past us. We didn’t really know what to do so we called a couple of friends, got no answer and decided to head home hopefully in time for midnight.

We all remember a large white dog following us home and over the next couple of days we caught sight of him again, always

at a distance and always watching us intently. We haven’t seen him since.

We did make it home just before midnight and spent a few hours drinking and generally having a great time. With slightly sore heads and a lot of black coffee, we all caught up the next day for lunch at our now sadly closed, favourite local restaurant. Talk in-

evitably drifted to our New Year’s Eve experience. We now know that leading up to midnight is likely to be family time, home cooking and of course, grapes.

We were shocked though when Lindsay’ s Mum Gillian, who’s bedroom window looked out over the village, asked if we had enjoyed last night’s party in the Square – blank looks

all around. Gillian had watched the Plaza come alive with people, listened to the music and assumed that we were all joining in.

The lesson for us, see the year change at home and then head to the Square, watching out for our New Year white dog and avoiding the tumbleweed.

Una experiencia más en el año nuevo Feliz Año Nuevo desde Casares. Y lo que nos toca en estas fechas son mañanas frías y frescas, amaneceres y atardeceres espectaculares y contemplar las estrellas con un chocolate caliente. Pero todavía me sigue fascinando ver las luces en Marruecos y, en diferentes momentos, los barcos que navegan por la costa.

Las celebraciones de Navidad, Año Nuevo y Reyes Magos también han sido diferentes en Casares este año. Si tuviste la ocasión

de ver alguno de los espectáculos de luces por este precioso pueblo, estoy seguro de que te calentó tanto como mi chocolate caliente mirando las estrellas.

También disfrutamos de Papá Noel recorriendo Casares, no estoy muy de acuerdo con la utilización de un coche descapotable, pero los Elfos y la música fueron divertidos para los niños de todas las edades, incluso para aquellos que hace mucho que hemos dejado de serlo.

Aunque las celebraciones de Año Nuevo se realizaron principalmente a través de videollamadas este año, hubo en Casares un ambiente festivo y unos fuegos artificiales y pequeñas fiestas familiares a medianoche, que sin duda fue algo muy diferente a nuestro primer año nuevo en España.

Me viene a la cabeza, nuestra primera experiencia de año nuevo de hace tres años, con los amigos Linda, Gary Marty y Lindsay. Todos disfrutamos una

COMUNIDAD | LA VOZ del RESIDENT | 35 comida casera, un poco de vino de Manilva y nos abrigamos para dirigirnos a la Plaza de España a ocupar una mesa, preparar nuestras doce uvas y brindar por el año nuevo con música y más vino.

En el trayecto hasta la plaza, no nos dimos cuenta de lo silencioso que estaba todo y no fue hasta que llegamos a la fuente, que nos dimos cuenta de que éramos las únicas personas allí, los bares y restaurantes estaban cerrados y como recuerdo, una hierba rodadora pasó a nuestro lado. Realmente no sabíamos qué hacer, así que llamamos a un par de amigos, no obtuvimos respuesta y decidimos regresar a casa con suerte a tiempo para la medianoche.

Todos recordamos a un gran perro blanco siguiéndonos a casa y durante los siguientes días lo volvimos a ver, siempre en la distancia y siempre mirándonos con atención. No lo hemos visto desde entonces.

Llegamos a casa poco antes de la medianoche y pasamos unas horas

bebiendo y, en general, pasándolo muy bien. Con un poco de dolor de cabeza y mucho café negro, nos preparamos al día siguiente para almorzar en nuestro restaurante local favorito, ahora tristemente cerrado.

La conversación derivó inevitablemente a nuestra experiencia de Nochevieja. Ahora sabemos que a la medianoche es tiempo en familia, cocina casera y, por supuesto, uvas. Sin embargo, nos sorprendió cuando la mamá de Lindsay, Gillian, cuya ventana del dormitorio daba al pueblo, preguntó si habíamos disfrutado de la fiesta de anoche en la plaza, miradas en blanco por todas partes. Gillian había visto como la plaza cobraba vida, escuchó la música y pensó que todos estábamos allí. Una lección para nosotros, ver el cambio de año en casa y luego dirigirse a la Plaza, cuidando a nuestro perro blanco de año nuevo y evitando la hierba rodadora.

La Asociación Benéfica St. George dona 10.000 euros a la cocina social Emaus La Asociación Benéfica St. George de Manilva ha entregado un cheque por valor de 10.000 euros a los gestores de la Cocina Social Emaus en Estepona, como parte de su compromiso con el proyecto “Feed a Child” que tiene como objetivo hacer llegar un desayuno a decenas de niños en edad escolar que no tienen esta posibilidad a la hora de acudir a sus colegios.

Esta importante cantidad económica ha sido recaudada a través de diferentes iniciativas, muchas de las cuales han sido organizadas por Jojo France en Sotogrande, como el cuestionario anual de Caridad en el Hairy Limon en Sotogrande Port, y un “Burpee Challenge” que concentró a decenas de personas practicando deporte para recaudar fondos.

Every parent knows, and research has proven, that a hungry child finds it difficult to concentrate and therefore will underachieve at school. Education is the key to breaking the poverty cycle and therefore we have teamed up with Emaus Obra de Amor, who run six social kitchens throughout Málaga Province, to distribute lunch packs to these children who would otherwise go without food during school hours.

The Saint George Charity is pleased to collaborate with Emaus and all the good work they do to relieve hunger in the Province.

Currently, we particularly need active people who can help us out at the Sabinillas shops regularly for around three to four hours a morning sorting out incoming donations.

Filosofía de Vida La filosofía fue la primera de las ciencias, aquella que nos sacó de la oscuridad del mito y nos enseñó el logos, el conocimiento y nos enseñó cómo funcionaba el Universo en realidad. Luego la fuimos postergando, solapada por las Ciencias, tan exactas, tan rigurosas, tan normativas y hoy, como a la poesía, la consideramos un saber antiguo, inútil, abstracto, incapaz de adaptarse a los nuevos tiempos, robotizados hasta los dientes, tecnológicos y técnicos.

Así la hemos ido arrinconando y aquellos que la utilizan y la consultan son considerados unos snobs, unos elitistas que se resisten a la modernidad y al futuro. Y la niegan porque en lugar de dar respuestas lo que hace es sugerir más preguntas y más incógni-

tas todavía a nuestra ansia de saber y de desvelar secretos.

Yo, sin embargo, abogo porque nos tomemos la vida con mucha filosofía pues de esta forma nos irá mejor a todos. Y voy a argumentar las razones y los artífices que nos pueden echar una mano: Hay que echar mano de Sócrates que nos decía que teníamos que conocernos a nosotros mismos.

Hay que acudir necesariamente a Platón que nos enseñó a amar en secreto, sin esperanzas de ser correspondido, pero con el ardor mismo que si se consumara la relación.

Tenemos que beber de Aristóteles cuando nos dice que todo en la Naturaleza está en continuo movimiento y que estos accidentes van marcando

el devenir de nuestra existencia.

No deberíamos darle la espalda a Descartes y a su método cartesiano que utilizó para discernir entre lo auténtico y lo falso aunque la Ciencia nunca se creyó sus hallazgos y certezas.

Los empiristas como Hume y Locke nos enseñaron que la razón no era la única fuente de conocimiento válida y que la experiencia y los sentidos son fundamentales para nuestro aprendizaje.

Los filósofos sociales como Hegel, Marx y Nietzsche se centraron en desenmarañar eso que llamaron “La alienación” y que no era otra cosa que todo lo que esclaviza al ser humano, sobre todo la religión y el trabajo. Sin filosofía no avanza la vida.

sectores en este nuevo año 2021, encima con lo complicado que nos está dejando todo el Coronavirus, nos deberemos poner las pilas por obligación….

Cada vez nos estamos encontrando con una sociedad tan exigente,

que tengamos la edad que tengamos, estamos comprobando que cada vez más están actualizando todo lo virtual y lo telemático.

Y viéndolo en mis propias carnes, tendremos que estar todos bien preparados para vivir cada vez más en un entorno más virtual, Por ejemplo, siempre en las fiestas de Navidad se ha llevado la costumbre de enviar felicitaciones por correo. Una costumbre que tristemente se ha perdido. Ya el cartero te trae otro tipo de cartas menos agradables que los populares e históricos Christmas. En este tan complicado y problemático año que hemos despedido nos hemos dedicado a buscar felicitaciones de Navidad y principio de año para enviar por email (vía PC) o a través del teléfono móvil. The flavour and tradition of sending a handwritten letter to their Majesties the Kings of the East is sadly being lost. A letter that was always received and that generations and generations have believed in. In these current times we are seeing how that "magic" has been lost and has been "colder" than in previous years.

From my point of view, a shame, but these are the times in which we live.

Not everything virtual is a negative though. Due to the health pandemic, we have discovered Zoom as a system for holding meetings and conversations, both private and personal. It has surprised me in a good way, but we are getting into some surreal situations. I couldn't hide my amazement when I could see how virtual New Year's Eve par-

ties have been held as well as video meals. I hope that nobody has soaked their phone or mobile when popping the champagne during a Zoom party ... and I hope that, at least, the twelve grapes were real and you have downed them one by one, and without choking to shout "Happy New Year".

And now the Three Wise Men come like every January 5 and 6 with their unique magic, no matter how old we are. Somewhere I have seen that they will also be virtual ... Due to the Coronavirus there will be no riding in on horseback, but no one will miss the hopes and dreams of a better year. It will be strange not to "fight" for sweets in the street and not hear the cries of the children when they see the Kings, but health comes above all.

That positive spirit of 2021 is what I look forward to in the new year and what I wish for all of you. The year 2020, thank goodness, is now consigned to history ... but to be updated because the virtual world has already taken over.

Sí amigos lectores, ni escritas a mano. Se está perdiendo tristemente el sabor y la tradición de enviar una carta manuscrita a sus Majestades los Reyes de Oriente.

Una carta que siempre llegaba y que generaciones y generaciones hemos podido comprobar. En estos tiempos actuales estamos viendo como esa “magia” se ha ido perdiendo y ha sido más “frío” que en años anteriores. Desde mi punto de vista, una pena, pero estos son los tiempos…

No todo lo virtual va a dejar dudas.

Por culpa de la pandemia sanitaria hemos descubierto el Zoom como sistema para mantener reuniones y conversaciones, tanto privadas como personales. Me ha sorprendido para bien pero estamos llegando a algunas situaciones surrealistas. No salí del asombro cuando pude ver como se han hecho reuniones de Nochevieja de forma virtual así como comidas telemáticas. Espero que alguno o alguna cuando haya hecho el tradicional descorche del champagne no se haya cargado la pantalla de ordenador o del teléfono desde el que estuviera manteniendo la reunión… y espero que, como mínimo, las doce uvas fueran reales y se has hayan consumido una a una y sin atragantarse para gritar lo de “Feliz Año Nuevo”…

Y ahora vienen los Reyes Magos como cada 5 y 6 de enero con su magia única, tengamos la edad que tengamos. En algún sitio he visto que también serán virtuales…Por el Coronavirus no habrá Cabalgatas pero nadie perderá la ilusión de soñar con un mejor año. Será raro no “luchar” por un caramelo en la calle y no oír los gritos de los niños al ver a los Reyes, pero la salud está por encima de todo.

Ese espíritu positivo del 2021 es lo que espero del nuevo año y lo que les deseo a todos ustedes. El año 2020, menos mal, ya es historia… pero a actualizarse porque el mundo virtual ya nos ha invadido.

Y llega enero con el Roscón de Reyes Si en lo gastronómico la entrada del nuevo año siempre está relacionada con algún plato o producto especial este es el Roscón de Reyes.

En la jornada de cada 6 de enero no puede faltar en la mesa de las viviendas. Aunque este año es tan extraño por el Coronavirus y sus efectos, la pandemia no podrá con la tradición y es que con el Roscón nadie va a poder.

Todo el mundo conoce al Roscón y de qué va. Ese bollo redondo tan delicioso que comemos cada año en las mismas fechas. Es como el Sorteo de la Lotería de Navidad.

No puede fallar. De forma redonda u ovalada, suele estar relleno de nata o sólo, simplemente espolvoreado con azúcar y fruta escarchada.

El origen de este dulce se remonta a las fiestas “Los Saturnales”, que se celebraban en la época romana.

En esta denominada por la historia “fiesta de los esclavos”, allá por la mitad de diciembre, tenía lugar en honor al dios Saturno. Dentro del roscón se escondía un haba seca que representaba la prosperidad.

Quien lo encontraba, si era esclavo, quedaba libre ese día y era tratado como todo un rey. Vaya pedazo de “premio” en aquellos tiempos.

Según cuentan los textos religiosos a partir del siglo IV después de

JC, la Iglesia institucionalizó formalmente el Día de Reyes y pasó a ser una fiesta cristiana en todo Occidente. Se estableció que sería el 6 de enero. El Día de la Epifanía del Señor. Depende de muchas tradiciones y costumbres, aunque ahora en Europa dicen que en algunos lugares la costumbre empieza a perderse. Pero en España siempre son muchas las familias que siguen compartiendo el Roscón de Reyes en reunión familiar cada día 6 de enero, normalmente acompañado de una buena taza de chocolate caliente.

En otros países la celebración de esta fiesta gana adeptos año tras año, como es el caso de Francia.

Allí celebran Le Roi de la Fave (El rey de la haba). Los franceses comparten un tipo de bollo parecido al Roscón de Reyes español y que suele esconder en su interior una haba. En la zona norte del vecino país suelen tomar la Galette des Rois. Un producto gastronómico cuya masa es totalmente diferente al roscón conocido en nuestro país. Es mucho más compacta y totalmente dulce.

En México tampoco se pierden el Roscón por estas fechas. La tra-

dición fue importada al país centroamericano allá por el siglo XVI desde España, y es costumbre en muchos puntos de su geografía nacional tomarla a modo de merienda. Para ellos es la Rosca de Reyes, junto con el chocolate caliente o atole, además de adornarla con miel y frutos del desierto, como los dátiles e higos.

En Portugal el roscón de Reyes en conocido como “Bolo Rei” y aunque sus ingredientes no son similares, compartimos con nuestros vecinos la tradición de degustarlos en el seno de la familia el día 6 de enero. ¿De qué va? Suele llevar pasas, nueces y, al igual que el roscón español, fruta escarchada

como decoración.

Cuando te encuentras el Roscón de Reyes, sea donde sea, lo que no cambia es que en su interior se esconden sorpresas que determinarán el devenir de la mañana y de casi toda esta jornada festiva del 6 de enero. Si te sale la figura de los Reyes no tienes que “pagar” el Roscón. Si te sale la figura de la Corona serás coronado y te convertirás en el Rey de tu casa por un día como mínimo. En cambio, si te encuentras con la haba, ya lo sabes. Te va a tocar el bolsillo y serás el que pague el Roscón, pero merece la pena vivir esta tradición a tope…

to the “Los Saturnales” festivities, which were celebrated in Roman times. According to history this so-called “slave festival”, back in the middle of December, it was held in honour of the god Saturn.

Inside the roscón was hidden a dry bean that represented prosperity.

Whoever found it, if he was a slave, was free that day and was treated like a king. What a "prize" it was.

According to religious texts from the fourth century AD, the Church formally institutionalized Kings Day which became a Christian holiday throughout the West. It was established that it would be on January 6, the Day of the Epiphany.

It is subject to many traditions and customs, although now in Europe they say that in some places the custom is beginning to be lost. But in Spain there are always many families who continue to share the Roscón de Reyes at a family reunion every January 6, usually accompanied by a good cup of hot chocolate.

In other countries the celebration of this festival gains followers year after year, as is the case in France. There they celebrate Le Roi de la Fave (The King of the Bean). The French share a type of bun similar to the Spanish Roscón de Reyes that usually has a bean hidden

inside. In the North of the country they usually take the Galette des Rois. A gastronomic product whose dough is totally different from the roscón known in Spain. It is much more compact and totally sweet.

In Mexico the tradition of the Roscón is not lost either. The tradition was imported to the Central American country back in the 16th century from Spain, and it is customary in many parts of the country to take it as a snack. For them it is the Rosca de Reyes, along with hot chocolate or atole, in addition to garnishing it with honey and dried fruits, such as dates and figs.

In Portugal the Roscón de Reyes is known as “Bolo Rei” and although its ingredients are different, we share with our neighbours the tradition of enjoying them with the family on January 6. What is it about?

It usually has raisins, nuts and, like the Spanish roscón, candied fruit as decoration.

When you find the Roscón de Reyes, wherever it may be, what does not change is that inside it there are surprises that will determine the future of the morning and of almost the entire festive day of January 6. If you get the figure of the King, you don't have to "pay" for the Roscón. If you get the figure of

the Crown you will be crowned and you will become the King of your house for at least one day. Instead, if you come across the bean, you

already know. It will touch your pocket and you will be the one who pays for the Roscón, but it is worth keeping this tradition to the fullest.

Keeping fit for charity!

Happy New Year!

Wow! What a year it has been for everyone. Covid has been a challenge in so many ways, changing the way that we live, travel and socialize.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone that either participated in the 12 days of Christmas burpee challenge, or sponsored someone to do it.

My son Spike and myself did our 1200 burpees (which equates to 2400 squats, 1200 push ups, 2400 mountain climbers) in 4 hrs 21 mins, it was brutal.

As a community we raised 10,000 euros for the 'Feed a Child' campaign.

Over 15 people, with the average age of 40 years, took part in the event over 12 days, wearing Christmas costumes to complete the challenge, raising awareness for the charity and the under privileged living within our community.

It was a great feeling, ending the year on such a positive, uplifting event.

I felt very proud of everyone, even in these tough times digging deep, both physically and financially.

Normally, the New Year is a time to reflect on the previous years, make promises for a healthier, fitter new you, but I think this year, people’s resolutions will be a lot simpler.

I know Covid has shown me the importance of time spent with my family, also making that time more about doing nothing rather than trying to cram as much as possible into the day. So my promise to myself this year, is to continue being more available to my family and to be kinder to myself. Small changes that I know will make a big difference.

So stay safe. I'll be back next month with some 'healthier you' fitness tricks.

No es fácil luchar por el Deporte en municipios como Manilva, donde por densidad de población tienes el hándicap de Estepona, Marbella o el Campo de Gibraltar.

Esto y las distancias con Málaga capital motivan que haya que destacar y alabar el gran trabajo que vienen haciendo por el baloncesto el CD Manilva Basket Base.

Una entidad que desde hace algo más de tres años preside Rafael Mena y que está consiguiendo muy buenos resultados de cantera frente a los “gigantes” de la zona.

Con “sello” Maristas Málaga y aprendizaje en la cantera del CB Unicaja. Los éxitos le han sucedido en los últimos tiempos, hasta el punto de haber sido elegido como el mejor entrenador andaluz del año en 2016. Y es un habitual miembro del staff técnico de la Selección Española Sub-15.

Según Rafael Mena “hay mucha afición al Baloncesto en Manilva y su zona de influencia. Intentamos captar jugadores en sitios como Casares y no es fácil, pero hay que apostar porque hay futuro con ellos”. Durante los meses duros de la pandemia y el regreso a la nueva normalidad eran continuas las

llamadas de los chicos y sus familias para ver cuándo se reanudaban los entrenamientos. Como dice Montañez “hemos sufrido más por nuestros jugadores que por no poder entrenar, pero la salud y las condiciones a cumplir, son a rajatabla y se está llevando todo sin mayor problema”.

Uno de los grandes retos del Manilva Basket Base es poder contar con un equipo femenino al 100%. En estos momentos no es posible, pero hacen un llamamiento a las chicas que practican otros deportes y que pueden verse atraídas por el Baloncesto. “Ese es otro problema. Luchar contra el fútbol, el Pádel o el Tenis, pero estamos convencidos que poco a poco iremos ganando más adeptos a la canasta”, indican los dirigentes.

Ahora jugarán la Valencia Cup 2021 Una indiscutible piedra de toque para los chicos de Montañez que nos cuenta “Nos llegó la invitación y es una gran oportunidad, jugar en la Burbuja de L´Alquería de Valencia no se presenta todos los días y la experiencia va a ser única e inolvidable para nuestros jugadores”. grandes hitos del Baloncesto de Manilva.

También lo fue no hace tanto, aquel partido del Torneo Costa del Sol entre el Real Madrid y Olympiakos, en el Pabellón de la Ciudad Deportiva de Sabinillas. “Tuvimos que ayudar mucho en la organización y espero que experiencias como esa se puedan repetir pronto en el municipio”, afirma Mena, que

también ha destacado la colaboración del Ayuntamiento de Manilva en los repartos de horas en las instalaciones y el tema de logística.

Gracias a esto, al aporte de las empresas locales y los padres que empujan lo suyo, va aumentando el nivel de éxito y trabajo de este CD Manilva Basket Base.

Un club pequeño pero muy grande en realidad.

El mes de enero significará la vuelta a la competición de los distintos equipos del Holmes Sotogrande Club Rugby del Estrecho. Un año muy especial para el club de Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro porque se cumplirá el 10º aniversario de su fundación. Y para su Senior será aún mayor como debutante en la Liga Howden de la 1ª División Regional.

Los de Ezequiel Vigo debutarán el 31 de enero, en el campo del CR Atlético Portuense. Su primer partido en casa será el 7 de febrero, ante el histórico CD Universidad de Granada.

Junto a los de Sotogrande jugarán otros 8 clubes la temporada: el Club de

Rugby Malaga B, CAR Club Amigos del Rugby B, Mezquita Rugby Club, Club de Rugby San Jerónimo, Club Rugby Xerez / Cruxe, CDU Universidad de Granada Voleibol, Rugby, Natación y Balonmano, C.D. Rugby Bifesa Tartessos de Huelva y CRAP Club de Rugby Atlético Portuense. La liga finalizará el 9 de mayo. En la plantilla donde sigue Phil Nielsen hay refuerzos como Harry Holman, Zeta González, Harper, Montero y Connor Beer.
