Charity wrapped with dignity
La buena praxis política es un arte Quiero centrar esta reflexión en el ámbito municipal y al centrarme en lo municipal, tendremos (usted lector y yo) como cuadro de referencia permanente, el municipio en el que vivimos. En el escenario de cualquier municipio podemos encontrar tres niveles de política: la base de legitimidad. Las ideologías políticas. Y la práctica de la política o el día a día. 1. Los partidos políticos, para que tengan legitimidad, han de actuar siempre en defensa de los intereses generales de su vecindad y en actitud de atención respetuosa a las personas. Los políticos que persiguen principalmente su propio interés o el de sus amigos, o los que tratan bien a unos y desprecian a otros, los que marginan o demonizan a sus adversarios, pierden legitimidad para actuar políticamente. 2. Por lo general los partidos tienen su ideología, unos son conservadores, otros de cierta izquierda, algunos se dicen de izquierdas y otros se aferran al localismo. Pero hay algo claro, los partidos tienen que ser fieles a su ideología, aunque sólo sea por respeto a los electores que los eligen. 3. Los puntos anteriores deben estar siempre presentes en la buena praxis política. Y desarrollando un poco más la idea, la buena praxis exige honradez, lejanía de los comportamientos corruptos, cercanía a los ciudadanos, la escucha de sus propuestas y el compromiso con ellas. El arte de la política ¿qué es?. Por ejemplo: el gobierno municipal debe buscar siempre el consenso, nunca la crispación. La oposición debe marcar siempre las diferencias con las propuestas del gobierno, con ánimo constructivo por si éstas son aceptadas y se llega a acuerdos, y si no son aceptadas, mantenerlas con firmeza en vistas al futuro. Otro ejemplo: la reforma de una calle. Hay que reunir a los vecinos, pedirles sugerencias, incorporarlas si es posible, seguir las reuniones para hacer el seguimiento. Otro mas: se consigna dinero para las asociaciones vecinales, culturales y deportivas. El gobierno se reúne con ellos, se presentan las propuestas de asignación de recursos, se valoran, se acuerdan las que procedan y el gobierno se vincula a ese acuerdo, que deberá de seguir y comprobar. Porque el dinero del pueblo es sagrado y el gobierno debe ser muy austero e inteligente con él. Y usted puede dejar correr el pensamiento y ya me gustaría a mí, recibir las ideas que se le han venido a la cabeza.
Welcome to the September issue of LVR, and the last few weeks of the Summer season. As the hordes of visitors return home, (hordes? you say, well it felt like it after such a quiet year last year) we must think of the seasonal workers, whose shortened spell of work will unlikely been sufficient to see them through the lean months. Thinking of them, and the fact that local charities will once again be needed to provide support, led me to remember a story that I had read recently. This story “Charity wrapped in dignity” is no doubt apocryphal, and I have read it many forms, but it still has an important message. A woman was haggling with a street vendor over the price of eggs She asked him, ‘How much are you selling the eggs for?’ The old seller replied, ‘50 cents an egg, Madam.’ She said to him, ‘I will take half a dozen eggs for two and a half euros, or I will leave. The old seller replied, ‘Come take them at the price you want. Maybe, this is a good beginning because I have not been able to sell even a single egg today.’ She took the eggs and walked away feeling she had won. She got into her fancy car and went to a posh restaurant with her friend. There, she and her friend ordered whatever took their fancy. They ate a little and left a lot of what they ordered. Then she went to pay the bill. The bill came to 80 euros, she gave the waiter 100 euros, and told them to keep the change. This tale might have seemed quite normal to the restaurant owner but, very painful to the poor egg seller. The point is, why do we always show we have the power when we buy from the needy? And why are we generous to those who do not even need our generosity? I once read somewhere: “My father used to buy simple goods from poor people at high prices, even though he did not need them. Sometimes he even used to pay extra for them. I got concerned by this act and asked him why he did what he did? Then my father replied, “It is a charity wrapped with dignity, my child”.

Manilva Endesa finaliza la construcción de la nueva subestación eléctrica en la que se han invertido más de 5 millones de euros
La infraestructura, que cuenta con la última tecnología y está en servicio desde principios del mes de agosto, se encuentra ubicada en la zona conocida como Alcorrín, en un próximo al actual desarrollo de la zona.
La nueva subestación cuenta con un transformador de 66 a 20 kilovoltios con una potencia de 20 MVA y es considerada como fundamental para el desarrollo del municipio al tiempo que mejorará la calidad de suministro de más
de 20.000 clientes. Todo ello se une a otra serie de actuaciones muy relevantes que Endesa llevará a cabo en los próximos meses importantes inversiones que supondrán una inversión aproximada de 15 millones de euros.
Endesa completes the construction of the new electrical substation with an investment of 5 million euros The installation, which boasts the latest technology and has been in service since the beginning of August, is located in the area known as Alcorrín, near the current development in the area.
The new substation has a 66 to 20 kilovolt transformer with a power of 20 MVA and is considered essential for the development of the municipality while improving the supply to more than 20,000 customers.
This is part of an extensive programme of essential actions that Endesa will be carrying out in the coming months with an investment of approximately 15 million euros.

La tasa de residuos sólidos confirma el aumento considerable de población en verano La Delegación de Limpieza, cuya responsable es Paqui López, ha dado a conocer la tasa de residuos generados en la localidad. De esta manera, a mediados del mes de agosto de
2021 se obtuvo un pico de 50,000 kg, lo que se traduce en un aumento significativo de la población teniendo en cuenta que, en el año 2019, y en la misma época el máximo fue de 40,000 kg
mientras que, durante el 2020, en plena pandemia, se recogieron 42,000kg de residuos sólidos urbanos en un día. Con los datos del mes de agosto aún por conocer, los de julio arrojan en este 2021 un total de 1146 kg, lo que viene a significar que en este mismo año se han producido 111 kg más que en el mismo periodo del 2020. Esto se traduce en un acercamiento a los datos ofrecidos antes de la pandemia provocada por la Covid-19. Según explicaba la delegada de Limpieza, estos informes vienen a corroborar la recuperación en la que se encuentra Manilva dado que son muchos los visitantes que disfrutan de nuestra localidad en el periodo estival.

Sigue bajando el paro en Manilva Las cifras macro de la evolución del paro en el municipio de Manilva descienden a los niveles de julio de 2007. En el mes de julio de 2021, los datos suministrados por el Servicio Andaluz de Empleo, a través del Área Territorial de Empleo Costa Occidental, arrojan una tasa de desempleo del 15,51%, ello supone un total de 1.225 personas desempleadas, de las cuales el número de mujeres continúa siendo mayor, con 732, frente a los 493 hombres. El tramo de edad más afectado en ambos grupos de sexo es el correspondiente a los mayores de 45 años. La tendencia histórica sigue demostrando que el sector económico más afectado es el de "servicios". Si analizamos la trayectoria de la evolución del paro en nuestro municipio durante lo transcurrido de 2021, observamos que, si bien el mes de febrero aumentó respecto a enero, desde el mes de marzo se
inicia un descenso continuo en las cifras del paro registrado. Desde el año 2012 ha habi-
do un descenso continuado del paro registrado en el municipio, a excepción de 2020 como consecuencia de la difícil situación generada por la pandemia, la cual ha afectó muy directamente a la economía local. Podemos asegurar que 2021 revierte la situación con cifras muy esperanzadoras para una consolidación de la recuperación económica local, directamente interrelacionada con la situación comarcal y provincial. El alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez Rodríguez, así como el concejal de Fomento de Empleo y Desarrollo Local, Marcos Ruiz Rodríguez, muestran su plena satisfacción por la evolución de estas cifras en el municipio manilveño, comprometiéndose, de manera firme, en seguir trabajando para fomentar las iniciativas empresariales y generar las condiciones óptimas que faciliten el empleo de nuestros convecinos.
Unemployment in Manilva continues to fall The overall figures for unemployment in the municipality of Manilva have fallen to the levels last seen in July 2007. Mar García Jiménez se ha proclamado campeona de Andalucía de Golf sub 18. La vecina de Manilva, que ya se alzó con el título en categoría infantil, continúa con su proyección en este deporte. La cita se desarrolló durante tres jornadas, desde el sábado al lunes, en el Club Valle Guadiana en Huelva en un torneo de lo más emocionante. Y es que Mar Jiménez se hizo con el título de campeona autonómica en la última jornada de
competición y prácticamente en el último hoyo. La golfista manilveña partía como segunda y con cuatro golpes más que la líder momentánea en la jornada definitiva. Pero Mar se superó a sí misma haciendo el recorrido en 69 golpes, superando a su rival en el último putt del último hoyo y entregando la tarjeta con un total de 216 golpes, uno menos que la segunda clasificada.

Imagen y verso», en las salas del Monumento de El Castillo de la Duquesa. Una exposición organizada por la Delegación de Cultura, cuya responsable es Alba Jiménez, y que les
permite recorrer nuestra tierra a través de diferentes paneles que reproducen 84 fotografías que datan de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, pertenecientes a los fondos del fotógrafo francés Lucien Roisin y del editor catalán Josep Thomas. El visitante puede viajar
en el tiempo por las ocho provincias andaluzas a través de lugares, personajes y realidades que dialogan con versos, fruto de una cuidada selección de diversos períodos de la literatura, autores, temáticas y estilos. Esta muestra está comisariada por Alberto Egea Fernandez-Montesinos, y queda articulada en torno a ocho espacios diferenciados que son: Momentos, Gentes, Agua, Emociones, Calles, Modernidad, Interior y Patrimonio. Los representantes municipales también explicaron las acciones que se están realizando desde el Consistorio para proteger al municipio para que la transición energética se realice de forma sostenible: con la aprobación en pleno de una Innovación y la suspensión durante un año de licencias sobre este tipo de proyectos, para que dé tiempo a estudiar cada uno y delimitar las zonas donde se pueden implantar, y reclamando el apoyo a otras administraciones
que tiene competencias, como la JJAA y el Gobierno central. Más de 70 personas asistieron a la reunión que tuvo lugar en el campo de futbol de Casares, en su mayoría vecinos afectados, pero también representantes de movimientos asociativos de la localidad y otros municipios que están pasando por situaciones similares. En el municipio de Casares se han presentado 21 mega proyectos de plantas fotovoltaicas y 11 de parques eólicos, lo que afectaría no solo por su implantación, sino también por la cantidad de líneas de evacuación que cruzarían el municipio, formando una maraña de cables y torres eléctricas que causarían un gran impacto paisajís-

El Festival de Cine Andaluz ya tiene fechas, será del 4 al 9 de octubre, en formato presencial Ya está abierto el plazo de inscripción para los concursos de Cortos Exprés, de Largometrajes de Ficción y Documentales. El Festival Nuevo Cine Andaluz vuelve este año como uno de los eventos culturales más significativos de Casares, que funciona como espacio de difusión de la industria cinematográfica vinculada a Andalucía. Esta edición se celebra entre el 4 y 9 de octubre con formato presencial, aunque atendiendo a la normativa sanitaria que esté vigente en esa fecha. Con lo que la cita vuelve como punto de encuentro entre todo tipo de profesionales vinculados al séptimo arte y el público en general, que
tiene la posibilidad de participar en las charlas que se realizan tras las proyecciones. La organización ya está centrada en la programación de esta octava edición, y la pasada semana mantuvieron una reunión con la concejal de Cultura, ya que el Ayuntamiento de Casares continúa siendo el patrocinador principal del festival. Hasta principios de septiembre está abierto el plazo de presentación de los trabajos a concurso. Los equipos participantes en el 8º Concurso de Cortos Exprés podrán rodar sus cortometrajes, en 48 horas, del 15 al 30 de septiembre. El plazo de inscripción finaliza el viernes
30 de septiembre a las 23:59 horas. En las secciones de documentales y largometrajes de ficción a concurso po-
drán participar producciones que sean andaluzas en al menos un 60 %, que esté dirigida por una persona andaluza o haya sido fil-
mada mayormente en tierras andaluzas. Y que esté realizada o estrenada en 2020 o 2021.

El Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana anunció la reapertura del paso elevado del km 165,6 de la A7 en Cancelada tras su completa sustitución. El puente volvió a estar en permitido para el tráfico rodado a partir de las 8:00
horas de la mañana del sábado 28 de agosto, después de haber estado cerrado al tráfico en un sentido, durante varios meses debido a los daños presentados en su estructura. El paso elevado que fue desmontado totalmente en el mes de mayo, ha
provocado durante todo este tiempo importantes retenciones de vehículos, que ahora se ven aliviados con su apertura y todo ello mientras continúan las obras para finalizar los accesos peatonales y el acerado.

Muchos clientes nos dicen que les han recomendado constituir una sociedad limitada para comprar propiedades en España o comprar las acciones de una S.L. ya existente que posea una propiedad. Si usted está pensando en comprar una propiedad inmobiliaria (ya sea para su propio uso o como inversión), evite hacerlo a nombre de una sociedad limitada, ya que estas se usan para administrar negocios
y no para ser propietarias de bienes inmobiliarios. A pesar de lo que muchas empresas financieras o de inversiones puedan decirle sobre las ventajas de las sociedades limitadas, le podemos confirmar que tener una no implica ninguna ventaja tributaria o ahorro, y sí muchos gastos extra y posibles responsabilidades fiscales. Many clients are advised to set up limited companies to buy properties in Spain or sometimes it is suggested that they purchase the shares of an existing limited company which is the legal owner of a property. Should you be thinking of buying a real estate property (either for your own use or as an investment), never use a limited company for this purpose. Limited companies are for running a business, not for holding ownership of real estate properties. Despite what you are told
by many investment and financial companies about the advantages of limited companies, I can confirm that there are no tax advantages or savings of any kind to be gained by using a limited company, but there are many extra costs and potential tax liabilities. You must always purchase your real estate in your own name. It is much simpler, cheaper, and safer. You should never set up a company or purchase the shares of an existing company that holds the ownership of a property, just to buy real estate. The ownership of a limited company or shares in a limited company would imply taxes to be paid and a risk of taking over the company’s
previous duties or commitments. Please also note that apart from the costs and risks of setting up a company or buying an existing company, you would also be liable to pay the annual maintenance costs. Years pass by very quickly and you will see that having a company would involve spending money like water, with no benefits at all. Finally, please also be aware that the Spanish Tax Office considers that if you are using a property owned by a company you should be paying rent for said property to your own company. This would implicate an important tax liability for the company who would have to pay annual
corporate taxes at the rate of 25 % of the assumed annual rental that you should be paying to the company.

Publicadas las bases para la reserva de plazas en propiedad del parking de la Plaza del Ajedrez
El precio de las plazas, según la valoración técnica municipal, se sitúa entre 14.610,48 euros y 17.857,22 euros, en función de la superficie y ubicación de misma. Dichas plazas serán en régimen de propiedad. Los peticionarios de reserva de adjudicación de plazas que figuran en el listado inicial tendrán que aportar, en el plazo de un mes, la documentación que figura en el Anexo II del expediente y cumplir con los requisitos exigidos. El Ayuntamiento estableció un plazo hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2020 para que los residentes empadro-
nados en Estepona formalizarán la solicitud de reserva de adjudicación de plaza, en las condiciones recogidas en dicha solicitud. Durante ese periodo se registraron más de 300 solicitudes, un número que superan las plazas objeto de adjudicación. Una vez realizado el listado final, se celebrará un sorteo para asignar a cada uno el número de orden que le corresponda, en función del resultado de dicho sorteo, y que determinará la prelación para la elección de plaza de aparcamiento a adjudicar en su momento.

¿Necesitamos celebrar nuestra JGO? ¿podemos celebrar una JGE para tratar asuntos urgentes? Como ya hemos comentado en varios artículos, el legislador español ha ‘suspendido la obligación’ de celebrar juntas generales ordinarias hasta el 31 de diciembre de este año. Esto significa que la Comunidad no tiene la obligación legal de celebrar Junta, pero no significa que no pueda celebrar una reunión si lo considera necesario. También han incluido que las reuniones pueden ser telemáticas y las decisiones pueden ser aprobadas por votación remota. Las votaciones remotas son un tema completamente nuevo, y hemos de asegurarnos de que todos
los aspectos legales estén debidamente cubiertos para que sean completamente legales y vinculantes. Un voto remoto no es solo una encuesta online. Para evitar dudas, vuestro Administrador debe realizar un formulario para que los propietarios lo rellenen y firmen, y así poder probar que es el propietario quien efectivamente lo ha emitido y evitar malos entendidos o suspicacias. Por ley tienes 10 días para responder a la votación y si no respondes, entonces tu voto no contará, como si no hubieras asististe a la reunión. Hemos realizado algunas de estas votacio-
nes remotas desde que se aprobó y es una forma muy efectiva de que la comunidad pueda avanzar y tomar decisiones necesarias para el buen funcionamiento del mismo, mientras que se evitan “situaciones difíciles (riesgos para la salud)” que puedan darse al celebrar una reunión presencial. La decisión de celebrar la Junta o no es del Presidente, ya que él es el encargado de emitir la convocatoria (a través del Administrador), esta decisión no es del Administrador. Además, la convocatoria del 25% por parte de los propietarios sigue vigente legalmente, por lo que los
propietarios también pueden convocar la reunión si lo consideran necesario. No tener que celebrar una Junta General Ordinaria significa que todas las decisiones anteriores se mantienen, lo que significa que el Presidente y el comité continúan en sus puestos hasta la siguiente JGO, el presupuesto / cuotas seguirían siendo los mismos, etc. Pero hay puntos que, de requerirse, habría que aprobar mediante junta ya que el Presidente no tiene la autoridad legal para proceder con ellos, independientemente de COVID (reunión física, reunión telemática o votación
remota). Tomemos como ejemplo las “acciones legales contra los morosos”. Para que podamos emprender acciones legales contra los morosos, el Juez requerirá actas de una reunión donde estas acciones hayan sido aprobadas y estas actas deben incluir las cantidades pendientes. No hay forma de evitar esta obligación, por lo que, si necesitamos emprender estas reclamaciones, deberemos celebrar una reunión. Estas acciones pueden ser aprobadas en una JGO o JGE, una reunión telemática o incluso una votación remota, siempre y cuan-
COMMUNITY MATTERS | LA VOZ del RESIDENT | 31 do se genere un acta, ya que este deberá incluirse en los procedimientos legales. Si aún no lo habéis hecho, os recomendamos encarecidamente que se aprueben otras actuaciones contra los deudores, como la privación temporal de los servicios/instalaciones no esenciales de la comunidad (piscina, pistas de pádel, etc.), mientras que estén en mora, ya que esto ha demostrado ser una herramienta muy útil, tanto para morosos como para aquellos propietarios que siempre pagan sus cuotas tarde. Otro elemento que necesitaría ser aprobado sería una modificación del pre-
supuesto, si las cuotas no cubren sus gastos, entonces este tendría que ser modificado en una reunión. Además de un cambio de presidencia, si el Presidente decide no continuar, se debe realizar una votación para nombrar al nuevo presidente (lo mismo se aplica al Administrador). Celebrar la reunión o no es decisión del Presidente. Sí, todos los propietarios tienen derecho a asistir a la reunión y algunos pueden sentir que es un riesgo para la salud, o tal vez no puedan viajar debido a las restricciones, pero aún pueden enviar su voto delegado, por lo que sus derechos no se verían com-
prometidos en absoluto. Y si no hubiera más remedio, se puede celebrar una reunión sin la asistencia física del administrador o presidente, ya que un miembro de la comunidad puede ser nombrado ‘presidente’ de la reunión y firmar el acta (con la aprobación previa del presidente), y validar las decisiones tomadas. Las reuniones telemáticas han cambiado la perspectiva de la celebración de las juntas, para todos, crucemos los dedos para que el legislador nos permita seguir celebrándolas online para que todos podáis asistir, ¡independientemente de dónde os encontreis en el planeta tierra!

Do we need to hold our AGM or can we hold an EGM for emergency items? As we have already discussed in various articles, the Spanish legislator has ‘suspended the obligation’ to hold AGM’s until the 31st of December this year. This means that the Community does not have the legal obligation to hold AGM’s, but it does not mean that you can not hold a meeting if you consider it necessary. They have also included that meetings can be online and decisions can be approved by a remote vote. Remote votes are a new subject altogether, and there is a lot of discussion to cover all aspects to make sure that they are perfectly legal. A remote vote is not just a survey that you fill in online, for it to be cast in stone, there is a form that your administrator will produce, and owners need to cast their vote and sign the document, to avoid and misinterpretations and so that
it can be proved that the owner is who cast the vote and not someone else. By law you have 10 days to respond to the vote and if you do not respond, then your vote won’t count, as if you didn’t attend the meeting. We have held a few of these remote votes since it was approved and it is a very effective way of moving the community forward and approving necessary items, without having to enter any possible ‘difficult situations (health risks)’. The decision wither to hold a meeting or not is the President’s, as he is in charge of issuing the call (through the Administrator), it isn’t the Administrators decision. Also, the 25% call by owners is still legally in place, so owners can also call the meeting if they deem it necessary. Not having to hold an AGM means that all previous decisions are maintained,
meaning the President and committee would be in place until the next AGM, the budget/fees would remain the same, etc. But there are items, that, if needed, will require a meeting to be approved, as the President doesn’t quite have the legal authority to proceed on them, regardless of COVID (physical meeting, online meeting or remote vote). Take for example ‘legal actions against debtors’. For us to take legal actions against debtors, the Judge will require minutes to a meeting where these actions have been approved and these minutes must include the amounts outstanding. There is no way around this obligation, so, if you need to pursue owners, you will need to hold a meeting. These actions can be approved at an AGM or an EGM, an online meeting or even a
remote vote, as long as minutes are produced after the event as these will need to be included in the legal proceedings. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that other actions against debtors are approved, such as not permitting them to use the community’s non-essential services/installations (pool, paddle courts, etc), as this has proved a very useful tool, both for debtors and ‘late payers’. Another item that would need to be approved would be a budget modification, if your fees don’t cover your expenditure, then this would need to be modified at a meeting. As well as a change of presidency, if the President decides not to continue, a vote needs to be held to appoint the new president (same applies for the Administrator). At the end of the day, holding the meeting or not is
the President’s decision. Yes, all owners have the right to attend the meeting and some may feel like it is too much of a health risk, or may not be able to travel due to the restrictions, but they can still send in their proxy vote, so their rights would not be jeopardized at all. And yes, if it comes to it, you can hold a meeting without the administrator or President attending, as a member of the community can be appointed ‘chair’ of the meeting and sign the minutes off (with the President’s prior approval), and validate the decisions made. Online meetings have been a game changer, for everyone, lets cross our fingers that the legislator allows us to continue holding them online so that everyone can attend, regardless of where you are on planet earth!

lística, a pesar de tener apenas 14 años de edad y así pudo visitar el país de origen de sus padres, Bosnia y Herzegovina, donde ha sido invitada a unirse a la Selección Nacional U17. También la manilveña Violeta Rojas Narváez contó con nuestra ayuda para avanzar en su carrera deportiva, en esta ocasión, esta joven de 15 años, formada en las filas del Manilva Basket Base y en el CAB de Estepona donde ha jugado los dos últimos años, contó con la ayuda de St. George para su nuevo destino. Y es que Violeta se traslada Girona para jugar en el Basquet Lloret por dos temporadas. Esta es la otra cara de nuestra asociación, la que impulsa a nuestros jóvenes deportistas. Mucha suerte a las dos en vuestro camino.

old and thus was able to visit her parents' home country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she has been invited to join the U17 National Team. Also from Manilva Violeta Rojas Narváez counted on the Charity's help to advance in her sporting career, this time, this 15-year-old girl, who trained in the ranks of the
Manilva Basket Base and in CAB de Estepona where she has played for the last two years, said with the help of St. George Violeta is moving to Girona to play in Lloret Basketball for two seasons. This is the other side of the charity, the one that drives our young athletes. Good luck to both of you on your way.

In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; while the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds, dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of
furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that bargain. Hailing originally from Cork in Ireland, Veronica came to Sabinillas in November 2020 from Nerja, where she had been living for 3 years, and joined the St. George’s family in January 2021 where she works in both the Sabinillas shops. A qualified barber, she enjoys home decorating, gardening, reading and most of all, spending time with her family. With a daughter in Australia, a son and Mum back in Ireland, she currently sees most of her daughter who lives close by in Sotogrande. She had always wanted to volunteer for a charity when she left full time work and worked in a charity shop in Nerja before joining St George’s, (although previous experience is not necessary.) Una nueva moda social, la cata de vinos en casa y con los amigos Poco a poco, se está imponiendo una nueva moda social, las catas de vinos en casa con amigos, todavía con reducidas experiencias, pero con grandes resultados porque se trata de unos sencillos juegos para ejercitar el olfato y el gusto en su propio domicilio. Comenzamos por la selección de los vinos. Si se trata básicamente de aprender lo elemental, es clave escoger un único vino y tratar de seguir las fases de la cata que veremos más adelante. Puedes escoger un vino de cualquier tipología dentro de los blancos, tinto, rosado, espumoso, generoso, etc. Todos sirven para este primer objetivo de cata. Otra opción es realizar una comparativa entre las diferentes tipologías de vinos. Podemos elegir 3 o 4 marcas distintas: un espumo-
so, un blanco, un rosado, un tinto o un generoso. Es muy importante ordenar los vinos antes de catar del más suave al más intenso. Así evitaremos que los aromas y sabores del anterior enmascaran el vino que estamos degustando. Los elementos para la cata. Una vez que tengamos la selección de los vinos, necesitaremos los siguientes utensilios para la cata: • Sacacorchos. • Una copa para cada vino. Si esto no es posible, siempre podemos enjuagar la copa con agua entre un vino y el siguiente. • Mantel o servilletas de color blanco • Vaso grande de plástico no transparente para usar como escupidera (opcional). • Agua: para mantenernos siempre hidratados, pues el agua hará

que catemos mejor. Picos o trozos de pan, especialmente si se catan vinos con mucho tanino. Papel y lápiz, para las “notas de cata”.
Fases de la cata
Se dividen en tres: visual, olfativa y gustativa. La idea es dedicar un tiempo a cada una.
Fase visual
En esta fase se pueden ver si el vino es o no joven, si presenta alguna turbidez, si se muestra con un color ocre que nos pueda hacer pensar que no se encuentra bien. El volumen y grosor de la lágrima, nos puede indicar si el vino tiene o no mucho alcohol antes de probarlo. Lo más básico es saber que para los vinos blancos la evolución del color va del pajizo al dora-
do e incluso caoba, siendo el pajizo el que muestra menos vejez o evolución. En los tintos, esta evolución o juventud se ve a través del ribete, que es la unión entre el cristal y el vino cuando inclinamos la copa 45º sobre un fondo blanco. Aquí debemos saber que el violeta es un color ligado a la juventud del vino y los toques anaranjados están más vinculados a la vejez.
Fase olfativa:
El siguiente paso se traslada de alguna forma al mundo olfativo. Los aromas nos mostrarán más información. No debemos olvidar que el vino proviene de una fruta y, como tal, hay que saber si es, muy fresca, si madura, sobremadura, confitada, etc. Hay que descifrar si el vino ha sido sometido a alguna crianza, etc. Y descifrar si la edad del vino se traslada a nivel olfativo. La presencia de aromas muy primarios como la fruta nos pue-
de ayudar a ello.
Fase gustativa:
Finalmente hay que degustar el vino en copa. Afinamos los sentidos de la boca para saber las cosas más sencillas como si es ácido, amargo, salado, dulce, si tiene mucho tanino, si tiene mucha fruta y si esta es muy madura o poco madura. También hay que prestar atención al tiempo que dura el sabor del vino en nuestra copa una vez ingerido, lo que algunos llaman caudalías. Con todos estos trucos descubriremos un nuevo modo de degustar el vino. Lo más importante es prestar atención a todo lo que sucede mientras pruebas el vino y anotar la información. Si después quiere investigar y avanzar más en el mundo de la cata, tendrá que asistir a cursos de cata más especializados, pero en esta cata inicial, habrás pasado un buen rato con los amigos.

Wine tasting at home with friends, a new social trend Little by little, a new social trend is becoming popular, wine tasting at home with friends, still with limited experiences, but with great results because it involves simple games to exercise smell and taste in your own home. We start with the selection of wines. If it is basically about learning the basics, it is key to choose a single wine and try to follow the phases of the tasting that we will see later. You can choose a wine of any type within the whites, red, rosé, sparkling, fortified, etc. They all serve this first tasting objective. Another option is to make a comparison between the different types of wines. We can choose 3 or 4 different brands: a sparkling, a white, a rosé, a red or a fortified wine. It is very important to order the wines before tasting from the mildest to the
most intense. This way we will avoid the aromas and flavours of the previous wines masking those that we are tasting. Equipment for tasting. Once we have the selection of wines, we will need the following utensils for the tasting: • Corkscrew. • A glass for each wine. Tasting phases

Smell phase:

Taste phase:

Cuquita Kitchen... Las claves de una fiambrera para el almuerzo sano de los niños
Llega el mes de septiembre y con él, la vuelta progresiva de los niños a los colegios lo que conlleva prepararse una buena fiambrera de cara a una comida sana para los que tengan que comer en el colegio y como nos gusta dar consejos, aquí las mamás tienen todo lo que pueden necesitar. Pero para empezar que sea una tuperware de buen tamaño. Hay que elegir una fiambrera que tenga compartimentos separados para el almuerzo principal, sea tanto un sándwich como una ensalada. Hay que asegurarse que tenga suficiente espacio para frutos o verduras. Si la que hemos elegido no tiene compartimentos individuales o usamos la de la casa habría que usar fundas de silicona. Incluso las hay de colores que se pueden lavar y reutilizar. Algo clave en estos tiempos de pandemia. Es fundamental mantener la comida fresca, principalmente durante los meses más cálidos, así que se pueden usar bolsas de hielo del tamaño de una lonchera y buscar una bolsa aislante o una cubierta que se ajuste a la lonchera. Si tiene espacio suficiente en su congelador, hay que intentar mantener la bolsa de la lonchera aislada o taparla en el congelador durante la noche. Así se ayudará a mantener las loncheras aún más frescas durante el tiempo de calor. Si desea intensificar su set de loncheras existen muchos otros elementos que se pueden
llegar a usar con el objetivo de mantener los alimentos frescos o calientes hasta que llegue la hora del almuerzo. Los termos pequeños son perfectos para mantener frescas las ensaladas o sopas y hasta las pastas calientes. Hay que recordar que existen recipientes que se pueden congelar la noche anterior, quedando listos para mantener la frescura del yogurt (por ejemplo) hasta el día siguiente. Si preparamos una comida caliente con termo hay que asegurarse los cubiertos reutilizables a mano, incluso etiquetando cada uno para evitar que se lleguen a perder en la escuela. Y no olvidar incluir el agua.
¿Qué poner en una lonchera de comida natural? Es básico que sean en envases individuales y que todo funcione. Hay que recordar que tenemos alternativas de colocar alimentos integrales, incluso, cuanto más mejor. Una gran cantidad de color y variedad ayudan a que la comida sea mucho más atractiva para los niños. En muchos puntos de Europa cuando las madres planifican las fiambreras de sus hijos se basan en las frutas y verduras de temporada, que suelen ser más baratas que los de fuera de temporada. Esto, de paso, ayuda a tener controlado el presupuesto familiar de la comida.

If we prepare a hot meal with a thermos, the reusable cutlery must be identifiable, even labeling each one to prevent them from getting lost at school. And don't forget to include water.

Remember that we have healthy options, and lots of colour and variety help make food that much more appealing to children. In many parts of Europe, when mothers plan their children's lunch boxes, they rely on seasonal fruits and vegetables, which tend to be cheaper than out-of-season ones. Middle aged spread - and the myth! Middle-aged spread cannot be blamed on a waning metabolism, according to an unprecedented analysis of the body’s energy use. The study, of 6,400 people, from eight days old up to age 95, in 29 countries, suggests the metabolism remains “rock solid” throughout midlife. It peaks at the age of one, is stable from 20 to 60 and then inexorably declines.
Ripped muscles The metabolism is every drop of chemistry needed to keep the body going. And the bigger the body - whether that is ripped muscles or too much belly fat - the more energy it will take to run. So the researchers tweaked their measurements, adjusting for body size, to compare people’s metabolism “pound for pound”. The study, published in the journal Science, found four phases of metabolic life:

Drugs! The researchers said fully understanding the shifting metabolism could have implications in medicine. Prof Pontzer said it could help reveal whether cancers spread differently as the metabolism changes and if drug doses could be adjusted during different phases. And there is even discussion about whether drugs that modify the metabolism could slow diseases of old age. And it “cannot be a coincidence” diseases of old age kicked in as the metabolism fell.
Obesity epidemic Prof Tom Sanders, from King’s College London, said: “Interestingly, they found very little differences in total energy expenditure between early adult life and middle age - a time when most adults in developed countries put on weight. Celebrada la 1a Expo Ocio y Deporte de Estepona, una cita que nace con vocación comarcal Cada vez más el concepto ocio, deporte y salud gana seguidores y las autoridades se están dando cuenta de la necesidad de fomentar esta nueva demanda a la población. Por este motivo los días 3 y 4 de Estepona acogió la 1ª Expo Ocio y Deporte. Organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona, este evento que se celebró en el Parque Ferial, Deportivo y de Ocio Permanente. Una actividad que nace con carácter comarcal y que ha tenido una se ha fijado una franja horaria de apertura al público de 18:00 a 23:00 horas para ser visitada, de forma gratuita.
En su presentación, la responsable del área Sociocultural del Ayuntamiento de Estepona, Begoña Ortiz, señaló que “este es un espacio para empresas, entidades y clubes de la localidad centrados en el deporte y el ocio” destacando también Ortiz “la posibilidad de dar a conocer al público sus productos y servicios”. Más de 60 expositores han mostrado al público todo tipo de oferta, en una propuesta que de no ser por las circunstancias actuales en materia de Covid, habría alcanzado el centenar de stands. Muy buena ha sido la afluencia de
visitantes a esta Expo Ocio y Deporte, que ha contado también con exhibiciones deportivas como el Boxeo, Tenis, Atletismo, Golf, Artes marciales, Baloncesto, etc. Entre los participantes estaban Football Impact, Velero Intrépido, Area Padel, Turismo Marinero, CD Tenis Mediterráneo, El Campanario Golf, Total Fit, Cllub de Esgrima Alatriste, Club Judo Estepona, Club Badminton Estepona, Club Atletismo Estepona, CAB Estepona, Club de Gimnasia Rítmica, El Paraíso Golf Club y nuestros compañeros de Piscis Comunicación, editora del diario digital Al Sol de la Costa y productora de programas de radio y TV en la Costa del Sol y el Campo de Gibraltar, así como colaboradores de La Voz del Resident, un stand que acogió en-
trevistas en directo y un resumen para el programa de televisión “La Hora del Deporte” que semanalmente se emite a través del canal M95 TV TDT. Esta experiencia que por primera vez se celebró en la Costa del Sol, nace con la idea y el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Estepona, para celebrarse una vez al año, así que toca ya esperar las futuras ediciones porque existe la necesidad de dar a conocer ofertas de ocio relacionadas con el deporte. Las primeras respuestas de este sector han sido más que positivas de cara a su puesta en marcha. El evento contó con el añadido de la subasta de un mural en lienzo de 3 metros por 2 en Graffiti a Beneficio de la Plataforma del Voluntariado de Estepona.
