Terremoto El 25 de enero la tierra tembló. No estamos, aunque deberíamos, acostumbrados por estas latitudes a que un movimiento sísmico nos alarme como lo hizo aquella madrugada. 6,3 grados de intensidad ya es para reflexionar y aunque a este lado del Mediterráneo no se produjeron daños físicos, si deberíamos mirar lo sucedido en Melilla para analizar si es necesario establecer protocolos de emergencia. En la provincia de Málaga sólo 3 municipios tienen aprobados planes para actuar ante una situación de este tipo. A los niños y niñas no le explican lo que hay que hacer si están en casa y todo empieza a temblar. No nos debemos volver catastrofistas pero viendo lo que ocurrió en la ciudad norteafricana donde en muchas viviendas cayeron cuadros, platos y otros objetos de estanterías, cuando no se desprendieron trozos de la pared o del techo, no está de más que a los pequeños de la casa se les explique que si se mueve la casa deben ponerse debajo del marco de la puerta o de una mesa y con la cabeza entre las piernas.

En Estepona, Manilva y Casares la tierra tembló. ¿Qué hubiese pasado si la percepción del terremoto hubiera sido de un punto más? ¿Qué cuesta explicar a niños –y también a adultos- una vez al año que hacer ante estas situaciones? La respuesta creo que es sencilla, otra cosa es que se nos olvide que vivimos en una de las zonas de más intensidad sísmica de Europa hasta que otro terremoto nos despierte de madrugada.

Well, as the song goes, did the earth move for you...? As we’re not accustomed to seismic movement, the two tremors in the month of January became the major talking point in the area.

Fortunately there were no reports of damage or casualties on our side of the Mediterranean but the same can’t be said for the residents of Melilla. It’s interesting to note that only three municipalities in the province of Malaga have an emergency plan for this kind of phenomenon, do we need one?

On a lighter note, this month sees various important dates for the diary, Carnival, Valentine’s Day and Andalucia Day. Estepona, Casares and Manilva will be holding events for Carnival and there are a number of trips organised to see it in Cadiz. The 28th of February is Andalucia Day, Casares, the birth place of Andalucias most important figure, Blas Infante will be holding a number of cultural events leading up the 28th.

As spring approaches at an alarming rate, Town Halls are busily preparing their municipalities for the arrival of visitors to the area. Works are being carried out on parks, beaches and town centres to get them ready as Semana Blanca (a week off for schools) and the long weekend at the end of the month are the first of many to come.

Don’t forget that this year February has 29 days!

Monarch anuncia su nueva ruta Londres Gatwick - Gibraltar

La aerolínea Monarch ha anunciado el lanzamiento de vuelos desde Londres Gatwick a Gibraltar en el marco de la expansión de su red de destinos en el verano de 2016.

La nueva ruta, que contará con cuatro vuelos semanales desde el aeropuerto londinense, empezará a funcionar el 1 de mayo de 2016. Habrá vuelos los lunes, jueves, viernes y domingos con salida tanto a primeras horas de la mañana como por la tarde, con un total de 1.392 plazas a la semana.

Londres Gatwick es actualmente el cuarto destino de Monarch desde Gibraltar, que se suma a las rutas de Londres Luton, Manchester y Birmingham. En verano de 2016, la aerolínea ofrecerá un total de 17 vuelos semanales a Gibraltar, entre los que se incluyen cinco vuelos semanales a Londres Luton, y cuatro a Manchester y a Birmingham, respectivamente.

La Ministra de Turismo, Samantha Sacramento, comentó: “Se trata de una interesante noticia que se produce tras el anuncio de otro incremento de plazas en los vuelos a Gibraltar el próximo verano. Gatwick siempre ha sido una ruta muy importante para

Gibraltar dada su amplia área de alcance y estamos muy contentos de dar la bienvenida a esta ruta a Monarch. Esta iniciativa de la aerolínea permitirá reforzar los estrechos vínculos de la aerolínea con el Peñón, así como su compromiso con nuestro territorio. Se espera que con el nuevo servicio anunciado, el número de pasajeros aumente en otros 30.000 de cara a este año. Durante el verano del año pasado, anunciamos cifras récord en el número de pasajeros de aerolíneas con salida o destino en Gibraltar: entre mayo y septiembre del año pasado, registramos un crecimiento medio del 13,5 % en comparación con el año anterior. Por supuesto, debemos seguir trabajando estrechamente con los representantes del sector para estudiar las posibilidades de crecimiento del turismo. Tras registrar cifras récord el pasado verano, estamos encantados de cerrar 2015 con el anuncio de una previsión de un crecimiento todavía mayor de cara al verano que viene. En total, las nuevas rutas supondrán un crecimiento del 25 % de crecimiento en 2016”.

Monarch launches New London Gatwick - Gibraltar route Monarch airline group announces the launch of flights from London Gatwick to Gibraltar as part of the carrier’s expansion of its network of routes for summer 2016.

Offering four flights per week from the London airport, the service will start on 1st May 2016, with tickets now on sale. Flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with a mix of early morning and afternoon departures, offering a total of 1,392 seats a week on the new service.

London Gatwick is now Monarch’s fourth destination from Gibraltar, joining London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham. For summer 2016 the airline will offer a total of 17 weekly flights to Gibraltar, including 5 to London Luton, and 4 each to Manchester and Birmingham.

The Hon Samantha Sacramento, Minister for Tourism commented: “This is exciting news following the announcement of other increases in the number of seats available for flights to Gibraltar this summer.

Gatwick has always been a very important route for Gibraltar with a very important catchment area and we are pleased to welcome Monarch to this route.

The initiative taken by the airline serves to strengthen the very strong ties and commitment that the airline has had to the Rock.

It is expected to increase visitor numbers by a further 30,000. In summer 2015 we also announced record numbers of air passengers travelling to and from Gibraltar.

Between May and September we recorded an average growth of 13.5% on the previous year.

We shall of course continue to work closely with the industry and explore further growth in tourism.

Having enjoyed record numbers last summer we were delighted to close 2015 with an announcement of even further growth expected by this summer. All in all, the new services represent an approximate 25% growth for this year.”

Estepona conmemora el cuarto centenario de la muerte de Cervantes con un mural artístico dedicado a El Quijote

La obra ‘Quijote del siglo XXI’, de Curro Leyton, homenajea al hidalgo con una pieza de surrealismo figurativo de 16 metros de altura, ubicada en una fachada del IES Puerta del Mar. El trabajo se suma a la Ruta municipal de Murales Artísticos, que supera ya la treintena de obras.

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona se suma a la conmemoración del 400 aniversario de la muerte de Miguel de Cervantes con la incorporación a la Ruta municipal de Murales Artísticos de una pieza con la representación de El Quijote. La obra, del malagueño Curro Leyton, cuenta con unas dimensiones de 264 metros cuadrados, donde la figura representativa del hidalgo

tiene 16 metros de altura. Se ubica en una de las fachadas del instituto ‘Puerta del Mar’, donde alumnos del citado centro educativo han colaborado con el artista en estos trabajos.

La pintura, que según su autor representa la figura de El Quijote más grande del mundo,se encuadra dentro del surrealismo figurativo.

Con este obra, Leyton ha reflejado la particular visión que tiene de Don Quijote y ha trasladado la figura de este famoso hidalgo hasta el siglo XXI, actualizando así la visión que tenemos del personaje más universal de la literatura española.

Esta nueva creación, titulada ‘Quijote del siglo XXI’, añade un nuevo atractivo a la Ruta

de Murales Artísticos que puso en marcha el Consistorio para acercar la cultura a la calle y dar protagonismo cultural y turístico a las distintas barriadas de la localidad. Estepona se ha convertido así en un museo al aire libre para atraer a visitantes que puedan admirar pintura, escultura o poesía, en plena calle.

Esta iniciativa cultural cuenta ya con más de una treintena de obras de diferentes autores y estilos, desde hiperrealistas, a abstractas como la realizada en madera por el artista residente en Nueva York, Javier Infantes, o incluso que incorporan técnicas más alternativas como el graffiti (obra de Nano4814).

Estepona Town Hall joins the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes with the incorporation to the municipal Route of Artistic Murals, a piece that represents Don Quixote. The work, by Malaga born Curro Leyton, measures 264 square meters, where the representative figure of the nobleman is 16 meters tall. It is located on one of the facades at the ‘Puerta del Mar’ institute, where students have collaborated with the artist on this mural.

The painting, which according to its author, represents the figure of the world’s largest Quixote, falls within the category of figurative

surrealism. With this work, Leyton has reflected the particular vision of Don Quixote and has brought the figure of the famous nobleman into the XXI century, updating our vision of the universal character of Spanish literature.

This new creation, called ‘Don Quixote of the XXI century’ adds a new attraction to the route of Artistic Murals launched by the Town Hall to bring culture to the street and to give cultural and touristic prominence to the different areas of the town. Estepona has thus become an outdoor museum attracting visitors to admire the array of paintings, sculptures and poetry, in the street.

This cultural initiative includes over thirty works from various authors and styles, from hyper realistic, to abstract wood as undertaken by the New York based artist, Javier Infantes, or even more alternative techniques such as graffiti (Nano4814).

Estepona Entra en vigor la reducción del 50% de los valores catastrales de Estepona La reducción del 50 por ciento de los valores catastrales de Estepona ya ha entrado en vigor.

El concejal del Área de Economía, Manuel Aguilar, explicó que el Consistorio alcanzó un acuerdo con los responsables de la Gerencia Territorial del Catastro y del Patronato Provincial de Recaudación que supondrá una nueva bajada de los valores y “un gran alivio económico para los ciudadanos que durante años han soportado una enorme carga impositiva”.

Manuel Aguilar consideró que esta nueva revisión que reduce a la mitad los valores catastrales, y que entró en vigor el pasado 1 de enero de 2016, es “una excelente noticia para los vecinos de Estepona, ya que ahora no estarán discriminados con respecto a los propietarios de inmuebles de otros municipios”.

El edil de Hacienda apuntó que con el nuevo acuerdo se amplía la reducción que ya aprobó este equipo de gobierno en 2013 y que supuso la mayor de toda la provincia de Málaga.

A ese respecto, el responsable de Hacienda recordó que en 2015 se redujo por tercer año consecutivo la plusvalía con el objetivo

de favorecer la compraventa de inmuebles. Este impuesto acumula una reducción del 69%, y mantiene la bonificación para los herederos de hasta el 85% de esta cuota en las herencias.

Asimismo, se impulsó la medida municipal pionera de eximir del pago de la plusvalía a aquellas personas víctimas de embargos hipotecarios o desahucios.

Aguilar indicó también que entre los impuestos que han bajado destaca el Impuesto sobre

Bienes Inmuebles (IBI), que se ha ido reduciendo cada año.

De esta manera, ha alcanzado una reducción acumulada del 12 por ciento, lo que supone ya un ahorro de 140 euros en la cuota de un recibo medio. Además, se contempla otra bajada del 2% en el recibo del IBI y una partida de cinco millones de euros para bonificar este impuesto a los empadronados en el municipio y la tasa de basura a los jubilados y desempleados.

encouraging the sale of properties.

The Town Hall also pioneered the exemption on payment of plusvalia to those victims of foreclosures or evictions. Aguilar also said that amongst taxes that have fallen over the years include the Property Tax (IBI), which has been reduced every year. In this way, it has achieved a cumulative reduction of 12 percent, which is already a saving of 140 euros on an average payment. In addition, it is also foreseen another drop of 2% on the IBI tax.

Abierto el plazo para del Programa de Termalismo del Imserso de 2016 para los turnos de septiembre a diciembre El Programa de Termalismo del Imserso 2016 permanecerá abierto hasta el próximo 11 de mayo para los turnos de septiembre a diciembre. El objetivo de esta iniciativa es proporcionar el acceso a los tratamientos termales que se presten en los establecimientos que cuenten con manantiales de agua minero medicinal, declarados de utilidad pública, contribuyendo con ello a mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas mayores, así como la promoción del envejecimiento activo, la mejora de la salud y la prevención de la dependencia.

Este año, se han modificado los requisitos de acceso al Programa de Termalismo del Instituto de Mayores y Servicios Sociales (IMSERSO), ampliándolo a nuevos colectivos. Así, entre las principales novedades, se rebaja la edad de participación de los pensionistas de viudedad a 55 años; también pueden participar

los perceptores de prestaciones o subsidios de desempleo con sesenta o más años de edad; se recoge la participación de los asegurados o beneficiarios del Sistema de la Seguridad Social con sesenta y cinco o más años de edad, aunque no sean pensionistas; se incluye la participación de los pensionistas de nacionalidad española, residentes en el extranjero; y se recoge la posibilidad de acompañamiento de los hijos con discapacidad igual o superior al 45%.

El programa previsto por la delegación de Fiestas es el siguiente: VIERNES, 5: 17:00 horas: FIESTA DE CARNAVAL en el Centro de Participación Activa de Mayores de Estepona. Habrá un Premio para la mejor Pareja.

SÁBADO, 6: 12:00 horas: FIESTA INFANTIL en la C/ Villa, donde los más pequeños podrán disfrutar de animación. Habrá un desfile de participantes para la ELECCIÓN DE NINFA Y MOMO INFANTIL. (Vale regalo para cada uno).

Jornada Gastronómica “LA BACALÁ”, organizada por la Asociación Cultural Carnavalesca “TIPO TIPO” de Estepona y la colaboración del CLUB MOTEROS “¿ÓNDE VAMOS?”. La zona de Valle Romano afronta sus obras de urbanización tras dos décadas bloqueadas Las obras de urbanización de la zona de Valle Romano, cuya finalización lleva bloqueada desde hace más de 20 años, han sido impulsadas por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona. Se trata de un proyecto de gran envergadura que afecta a unos doscientos vecinos de esta zona y que tiene una superficie de más de 1,3 millones de metros cuadrados. Cumpliendo la normativa, son ellos, a través de las cuotas de urbanización, quiénes están obligados a hacerse cargo de los costes de estas obras, en proporción al techo que tienen derecho edificar en sus parcelas.

El Consistorio se ha encargado de desarrollar el suelo, redactar el proyecto de reparcelación de esta zona en la que hay alrededor de 250 parcelas; así como poner de acuerdo a los propietarios para desbloquear un asunto que llevaba

enquistado desde hace más de dos décadas.

Los trabajos supondrán la construcción y mejora de más de una decena de calles; así como la instalación de luz, agua, telefonía, alumbrado público y gas natural. Además, se construirán aceras, un nuevo pavimento y la señalización correspondiente, así como los espacios para la recogida de residuos sólidos urbanos. Toda la actuación podría estar finalizada a principios de 2017, si se cumplen con los plazos previstos.

En este sentido, la teniente de alcalde de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Turismo, Ana Velasco, explicó que los trabajos “se están desarrollando en dos fases. La primera de ellas incluye la construcción de las tres avenidas principales que llevan a Valle Romano Norte y la segunda implica la construcción de todas las vías secundarias”.

The area of Valle Romano to commence works after being blocked for two decades The urbanisation works in the area of Valle Romano, whose completion has been blocked for more than 20 years, have been resolved by the Town Hall of Estepona.

It is a major project that affects about two hundred residents and has a surface area of over 1.3 million square meters. Complying with regulations, they themselves, through community fees, are obliged to bear the costs of these works, and are entitled to build on their land.

All the works should be completed in early 2017, if deadlines are met.

The Deputy Mayor and councillor for Public Works, Infrastructure and Tourism, Ana Velasco, explained that the works “are being carried out in two phases. The first phase includes the construction of the three main avenues leading to North Valle Romano and the second involves the construction of all secondary roads.

Uno de los económicas (FITUR) los nuevos atractivos turísticos y equipamientos que se suman al proyecto ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol’. Esta iniciativa, puesta en marcha en 2012 para revitalizar el casco urbano de la ciudad y convertirlo en un atractivo turístico durante todo el año, ha dado como resultado más de 13 kilómetros de calles embellecidas con miles de flores que resaltan su tipismo andaluz.

Este año, el proyecto ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol’ se ha complementado con el primer hotel de cuatro estrellas que se construirá dentro del centro

de 42 habitaciones y que dará respuesta a una demanda histórica: captar al turista para que se aloje y disfrute de la oferta cultural, comercial, gastronómica y de ocio dentro del casco urbano. Sus obras, cuya inversión asciende a los diez millones de euros, tendrán una duración de 15 meses.

Asimismo, se ha exhibido en FITUR la iniciativa pionera en el litoral andaluz puesta en marcha por la empresa local Turismo Marinero Costa del Sol, que en sus casi cuatro años de vida se ha convertido en un valioso nexo de unión entre el sector

hitos alcanzados el año pasado por estos emprendedores fue atraer a la localidad a los primeros turistas procedentes de los grandes cruceros que llegan al puerto de Málaga durante la temporada de invierno.

Este año, como novedad, Turismo Marinero ofrecerá sus excursiones marineras durante todo el año; excursiones llenas de aprendizaje, saludables, poniendo en valor los recursos, el patrimonio y la gastronomía marinera de Estepona y enlazando el recinto portuario con el casco histórico.

El Fondo Social para pagar los recibos de agua a las familias con dificultades económicas se mantendrá durante este 2016 tras el acuerdo de renovación entre el Ayuntamiento e Hidralia. Gracias a esta ayuda, dotada con un importe inicial de 45.000 euros, se evitará cortes de agua de aquellas familias más desfavorecidas. El servicio sufragará el coste del recibo, incluyendo todos los conceptos del mismo.

Desde su puesta en marcha este fondo ha ayudado a pagar el coste de más de 260 facturas de unas 150 familias residentes en Estepona. El objetivo es que ninguna familia del municipio con necesidades económicas tenga dificultades a la hora de pagar el recibo ordinario del agua e incluso de la factura de reconexión del suministro, en caso de que le hayan cortado el agua por impago.

Ya se han impreso 15.000 folletos explicativos, en los que

se dan a conocer los requisitos y cómo se puede solicitar el acceso a dicho Fondo Social, así como al resto de bonificaciones existentes a la tarifa. Los dípticos se repartirán en distintas zonas de la ciudad, además de las dependencias y oficinas municipales y de Hidralia. Los interesados en el Fondo Social pueden dirigirse a la Delegación municipal de Servicios Sociales del Ayuntamiento de Estepona, quien establece los requisitos y enviará a Hidralia un listado con los abonados domésticos que cumplan con las condiciones establecidas para poder acceder al fondo.

De forma general, se beneficiarán aquellas familias que se encuentren en urgencia social y no dispongan de recursos para afrontar el pago; así como pensionistas jubilados o por discapacidad y familias numerosas que cumplan unos determinados requisitos económicos.

FITUR Estepona presents the first hotel in the ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ project, a pioneering initiative in marine tourism Estepona has presented at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) new attractions and facilities that add to the project ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’.

This initiative, launched in 2012 to revitalise the urban area of the town and turned it into an all year round tourist attraction, which has resulted in more than 13 kilometres of streets embellished with thousands of flowers that highlights its Andalusian local colour.

This year, the ‘Estepona, Garden Costa del Sol’ project has been

complemented with the first fourstar hotel to be built in the historic centre. The Maravilla Palace hotel, consisting of 42 rooms to attract tourists to stay and enjoy the cultural, shopping, dining and leisure options within the town. The works, with an investment of ten million euros, will last 15 months.

It was put on exhibition at FITUR, a pioneering initiative on the Andalucian coast launched by the local company Turismo Marinero Costa del Sol. A company established nearly four years ago

that has become a valuable link between the fishing industry in Estepona and tourism in the town.

One of the milestones achieved last year by these entrepreneurs was to attract the first tourists from the cruise ships arriving at the port of Malaga during the winter season to the town. This year, Turismo Marinero will be offering marine excursions throughout the year linking the port area with the historical centre.

The Social Fund to pay water bills to families with economic difficulties will continue in 2016 following the renewal agreement between the Town Hall and Hidralia. Thanks to this assistance of 45,000 euros, water cuts to disadvantaged families will be avoided. The service will cover the cost of the bill.

Since its launch, the fund has helped pay the cost of more than 260 bills of 150 families living in Estepona. The goal is that no family in the municipality with economic difficulties will go without water; this also includes payment for reconnection of supply, in case the water has been cut off due to non-payment.

15,000 information sheets have been printed explaining the

requirements on how to apply to the Social Fund. The leaflets were distributed in different areas of the municipality, in addition to municipal offices and Hidralia.

Those interested in the Social Fund can get more information at the Municipal Delegation for Social Services at the Town Hall of Estepona, who establish the requirements and send a list to Hidralia of domestic subscribers who meet the requirements for access to the fund.

In general, those families who are in financial difficulty and do not have resources to meet payments; pensioners, those retired due to illness and large families who comply with certain economic requirements.

Estepona acogerá en julio la segunda edición El antiguo Parque de Bomberos se convertirá en un pabellón del único campus de la NBA en España deportivo de baloncesto

Las instalaciones del colegio San José de Estepona acogerá del 4 al 9 de julio la segunda edición del ‘JR. NBA Gigantes Camp’, el único campus de la NBA que se celebra en España, y que este año estará apadrinada por el ex jugador de los Boston Celtics, Dino Radja. En esta actividad participarán 250 chicos y chicas de entre 5 y 17, quienes también disfrutarán de muchas otras actividades de ocio y entretenimiento y recibirán la visita de importantes jugadores de la NBA y de la ACB, así como de entrenadores.

El campus contará con el mejor equipo de entrenadores, que estará capitaneado por el preparador de la NBA Neal

Meyers, y que trabajará con la metodología propia de los equipos que disputan la mejor liga de baloncesto del mundo, utilizando técnica y táctica individual adaptada al nivel de cada jugador. Además, durante todas las sesiones de entrenamiento estará muy presente la transmisión de valores que conlleva la práctica del deporte y que están presentes en la NBA, tales como la deportividad, el trabajo en equipo, el respeto, el liderazgo, el sacrificio, la intensidad y la pasión por el juego.

El concejal del Área Sociocultural y Deportes, Blas Ruzafa, manifestó que este campus “ofrece un importante nivel

técnico que dará la oportunidad a los niños y niñas de profundizar en su conocimiento de este deporte y les proporcionará una experiencia irrepetible avalada por la National Basketball Association (NBA) y la revista ‘Gigantes del Basket’. Asimismo, Ruzafa declaró que la celebración en la ciudad de este tipo de iniciativas hace de Estepona una ciudad “respetada”, que ofrece a sus visitantes una forma de hacer turismo deportivo de calidad y sostenible.

Los amantes del baloncesto contarán en unos meses con un nuevo pabellón deportivo cubierto que permitirá la práctica de este deporte. Este proyecto ha sido posible gracias al convenio entre el Ayuntamiento de Estepona y el Club de Amigos del Baloncesto (CAB) para la cesión gratuita de las instalaciones municipales del antiguo Parque de Bomberos.

Los trabajos de adaptación del nuevo recinto podrían estar finalizados para el próximo mes de mayo. Una vez finalizada las obras los alumnos del club dispondrán de dos pitas de minibasket y una de basket.

El alcalde, José María García Urbano, ha resaltado que con

este acuerdo se incrementan las instalaciones deportivas en la ciudad. Además, ha valorado la utilidad de la cesión de estas instalaciones, ya que este club -de reconocida trayectoria en la localidad- cuenta con alrededor de 200 alumnos y en esta temporada participará en la liga con equipos federados en varias categorías.

El convenio ofrece la posibilidad al CAB Estepona de realizar entrenamientos deportivos de baloncesto en este recinto, sin que pueda llevarse a cabo una actividad distinta. La asociación deportiva se compromete, además, a acondicionar, conservar y mantener el inmueble.

Basketball fans will have a new indoor sports centre in the next few months. This project was made possible thanks to an agreement between the Town Hall of Estepona who have transferred the municipal facilities and the Friends of Basketball Club (CAB) who will convert the old fire station into a sports centre.

The works to adapt the new centre should be completed by May. Once the works are complete, students will have the use of a full sized basketball court and two

minibasket courts. The mayor, José María García Urbano, stressed that this agreement will enhance sports facilities in the municipality.

It also gives the old fire station a new lease of life where around 200 students will have a dedicated sports centre aimed exclusively to basketball.

The agreement offers training facilitates to CAB Estepona and the association has agreed that once works are complete they will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building.

La Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona abre su restaurante en el Palacio de Congresos Un años más la Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona abre su restaurante en prácticas en parte de las instalaciones del Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, cedida por el Ayuntamiento de la localidad.

Este restaurante pedagógico obtuvo una gran aceptación por parte del público durante el pasado curso, por lo que este año los alumnos continuarán teniendo la posibilidad de realizar prácticas de cocina y de atención a los clientes gracias al convenio rubricado entre el Consistorio y la Escuela.

Con este proyecto se contribuye a la formación de los alumnos, que se acercan a la realidad laboral atendiendo a los clientes y elaborando menús diarios. En el convenio de colaboración que se firmó en 2013 también se dispuso la cesión de la cocina del Palacio de Exposiciones para que los alumnos aprendiesen técnicas de gastronomía. La Escuela dota a profesionales y desempleados de

conocimientos imprescindibles para el desempeño de trabajos vinculados con este sector y, por tanto, contribuye a la inserción laboral de los participantes favoreciendo la creación de empleo y al reciclaje de trabajadores.

El nuevo restaurante de prácticas abrirá de lunes a viernes de 13:30 a 17:00 horas y ofrece una carta con un menú (entrante + plato principal + postre) a un precio de 12 euros. De esa cantidad, dos euros irán destinados a fines sociales. La carta se irá modificando cada semana con nuevas novedades culinarias. The Estepona Catering College opens its restaurant at the Palacio de Congresos Once again, the Estepona Catering College opens its restaurant at the Palacio de Congresos to give students a chance to show off what they have learned. This educational restaurant has received in past years exceptional critics by the general public. This year, students will once again be given the possibility to put their new found skills into practices thanks to an agreement signed between the Town Hall and the College.

This project contributes to the students training, who get a chance to work with customers and are expected to prepare a daily menu. The collaboration agreement signed in 2013 saw the transfer of the kitchen at the Palacio de Congresos to the college and provides students the tools to practice their gastronomy techniques. The college

provides professionals and unemployed students essential work experience and knowledge connected with the sector and therefore contributes to the employability of participants favouring job creation and the ability to advance in their respective careers.

The new “in practice” restaurant opens from Monday to Friday from 1.30pm to 5pm and offers a menu with a (starter + main course + dessert) for 12 euros. Casares se declara municipio libre de circos que utilicen animales Los circos que utilicen animales en sus representaciones no podrán realizar su actividad en Casares desde este mismo año.

La iniciativa ha sido aprobada por unanimidad y declara que el Ayuntamiento es contrario a la exhibición de animales salvajes en circos u otras actividades que se encuentren de manera permanente o temporal en el municipio.

La moción presentada por Ecologistas en Acción Sierra de la Utrera recoge que “los animales no son juguetes, sino seres vivos cuyo lugar es la naturaleza”. La concejala de Medio Ambiente de Casares, Noelia Rodríguez,

explicó que es “una moción que ha tenido muy buena acogida” y apuntó que “cada vez se van sumando más municipios, desde pueblo a ciudades, a este tipo de acciones que buscan prohibir el maltrato animal. La conciencia animalista está afortunadamente en auge, ahora somos más respetuosos con los derechos de los animales, y desde las instituciones públicas tenemos que dar ejemplo en este sentido, no permitiendo conductas que dañen”.

La edil añadió además que “cada vez hay más circos sin animales que demuestran que se puede hacer un espectáculo

sin maltrato, ya que los animales no son juguetes, sino seres vivos cuyo lugar es la naturaleza, y no jaulas, ni camiones o cadenas”.

Desde los ecologistas afirman que estos espectáculos sacan a los animales de su hábitat natural o los crían en cautividad, en condiciones totalmente artificiales, los fuerzan a vivir la mayor parte de sus vidas enjaulados o encadenados dentro de camiones que viajan cientos de kilómetros, y los obligan a realizar comportamientos impropios a su naturaleza bajo la amenaza constante de castigos.

place in society in respect of animal abuse, these animals should be in the wild and not chained up in cages or trucks”.

Environmentalists claim that these shows take animals from the wild and breed them in captivity under artificial conditions; they are forced to live in cages and are chained inside trucks that travel hundreds of kilometres.

Viajes culturales, Acuagym y bailes, entre las actividades para los mayores de Casares Los más mayores de Casares podrán disfrutar este trimestre de un amplio programa de actividades que ha sido desarrollado por el Área de Bienestar Social del Ayuntamiento. La programación se ha confeccionando teniendo en cuenta las sugerencias de los vecinos.

El calendario de actividades incluye diferentes talleres de manualidades, charlas, y en el caso de Casares, salidas a la

piscina cubierta para la práctica de Acuagym, así como bailes y tardes de bingo. Entre las acciones destaca el taller de educación emocional que se ofrecerá en los tres núcleos del municipio y otros coloquios sobre prácticas saludables como pueden ser la prevención de caídas en El Secadero, diabetes en Casares o alimentación saludable en la Costa.

Los viajes culturales, una de las

propuestas más demandadas por los mayores, se realizarán uno por cada trimestre. En esta ocasión los vecinos de la Costa y El Secadero tienen programada una visita a Coria del Río para conocer la Casa de Blas Infante y el Museo de Andalucía, cuya salida tendrá lugar el próximo 11 de marzo. Los mayores de Casares, quienes visitaron este lugar el pasado año, están preparando otro destino.

Casares Casares invierte más de 8.000 euros en 50 bandejas isotérmicas para su comedor social El comedor social de Casares ha comenzado el año con una mejora importante en su servicio.

El Ayuntamiento de la localidad ha invertido más de 8.000 euros en 50 bandejas isotérmicas, un material que estará destinado a los 48 usuarios que atiende este comedor.

La renovación de las bandejas y otros utensilios eran una demanda solicitada en varias ocasiones por el personal del comedor. Las bandejas, de 55x38 llevan la vajilla incluida (plato hondo, llano, cuenco) y tapas. La concejala de Bienestar Social, Rocío Ruiz, destacó que la intención del equipo de gobierno es “ayudar a la economía local invierto en los negocios del municipio”, refiriéndose a la compra de este materia en una tienda de la localidad.

El comedor social de Casares lleva más de ochos años en funcionamiento, y en la actualidad atiende a cerca de medio centenar de personas

mayores y dependientes que reciben a mediodía en sus casas un menú completo y adecuado a sus necesidades.

La admisión de los nuevos usuarios para este servicio se desarrolla teniendo en cuenta los informes de persona dependientes de los servicios sociales comunitarios.

Se coordina con los cocineros del comedor escolar y los médicos de cabecera para la elaboración de expedientes personales en los que se tiene en cuenta las necesidades dietéticas de casa usuario. Este servicio de comida a domicilio, tiene un pequeño coste para los usuarios que depende de sus recursos.

Algunos usuarios reciben los menús de forma gratuita, pues sus pensiones son muy bajas, y a otros les supone un importe que oscila desde los 15 a los 60 euros mensuales, siempre teniendo en cuenta los ingresos de cada persona.

Casares crea su Consejo Local de Juventud El Consejo Local de Juventud de Casares ha comenzado a funcionar con la intención de que los jóvenes del municipio presenten sus propuestas de ocio y sean llevadas a la realidad.

Alrededor de 15 jóvenes asistieron a la constitución, en la que se acordó una reunión cada mes.

La mayoría de los participantes de esta constitución son estudiantes que residen en el curso fuera de Casares. Desde el Consistorio

prevén que este número crezca en los próximos encuentros.

La intención de esta iniciativa es que sean los mismos jóvenes los encargados de gestionar sus propias propuestas. Para ello, se dotará de un presupuesto propio y de las herramientas necesarias para la difusión de este proyecto y facilitar la participación aunque los jóvenes residan fuera por razones de estudio o trabajo.

En la constitución de este órgano juvenil se acordó que

para la reunión de este mes de enero cada participante aporte unas diez propuestas relativas a actividades de ocio, tiempo libre y cultura para los próximos cuatro meses, y para el programa de las ferias de agosto y septiembre. Asimismo, representantes municipales han llevado los números de la partida presupuestaria que se destinará a esta iniciativa.

Casares conmemora el Día de Andalucía con una celebración cultural y festiva La fiesta estará precedida una semana de actos como charlas en torno a los Símbolos Andaluces Casares como pueblo donde nació Blas Infante, es el lugar ideal para la celebración del Día de Andalucía, una fiesta en la que se propone a vecinos y visitantes una amplia programación cultural y festiva.

Como cada año, el 28 de febrero las calles de Casares cuentan con una gran ambiente. A las 12 del mediodía comienzan las actividades con la tradicional ofrenda floral a la figura de Blas Infante en la Plaza de España.

A a este acto le seguirá una gran fiesta popular, que contará con espectáculo de baile, degustación de gastronomía local y una orquesta con música en directo.

Además, durante la semana previa al Día de Andalucía se van a celebrar diferentes actividades culturales en torno a símbolos andaluces con la intención de poner en valor la cultura y la identidad del pueblo.

Se trata de conferencias y actividades didácticas sobre diversos aspectos como el flamenco, la cultura gitana, el origen del andalucismo histórico y los medios de comunicación.

Casares creates its Local Youth Council The Local Casares Youth Council was launched with the intention that the municipalities youth could submit their proposals for leisure activities. About 15 young people attended the inauguration where a monthly meeting was agreed.

Most of the participants who attended the inauguration are students residing outside of Casares. The Town Hall expects this number to grow in the coming

months.

The intention of this initiative is that young people themselves are responsible for managing their own proposals. To do so, it will be provide with its own budget and the tools needed for the promotion of each project and to facilitate youth participation, including those who reside outside the municipality due to their studies or work.

At the first meeting held in

January, it was agreed that that each member submit at least 10 proposals for leisure activities, outdoor and cultural activities for the next four months. Also, a programme of events for the fairs in August and September. Municipal representatives were also present who were able to inform those present about the budget for this year’s events.

El Centro Cultural Blas Infante acoge la exposición “La Generación del 27 y su época” El Centro Cultural Blas Infante acogerá hasta el próximo 19 de febrero la exposición “La Generación del 27 y su época”, una muestra producida por el Centro Cultural Generación del 27 de la Diputación de Málaga compuesta por paneles de gran tamaño que acercarán a los visitantes al nivel literario y

Esta colección está formada por 18 paneles de texto e imágenes de los escritores más destacados que iniciaron su labor en la década de los 20 del pasado siglo. La actividad, dirigida a todos los públicos, trata de situar al espectador en el contexto histórico, social

y literario, retratando a los autores más importantes del grupo, y mostrando las obras imprescindibles del periodo.

Además, repasa las revistas más influyentes con Litoral a la cabeza, y aborda el papel decisivo de Málaga en la conformación del 27 y en la difusión de sus primeros libros.

Casares, the birth place of Blas Infante, is the ideal place to celebrate Andalucia Day, a party in which locals and visitors can enjoy a wide cultural and festive programme of events.

As every year, on the 28th of February, the streets of Casares have a great atmosphere. The activities start at 12 noon with a traditional floral tribute to the figure

of Blas Infante in the Plaza de España. This event will be followed by a traditional festival including a dance show, local cuisine and live music.

The week preceding the event will see a number of cultural events including a lecture on Andalucian symbols intended to value the culture and identity of the people.

There will also be educational lectures and activities on various aspects such as flamenco, gypsy culture and the origins of historical andalucismo.

Ponen en servicio una Oficina de atención a Entidades de Conservación Urbanísticas Desde el pasado 19 de enero, los vecinos de Casares Costa cuentan con un nuevo servicio municipal: la Oficina de Atención a las Entidades de Conservación Urbanística. El objetivo es apoyar y ayudar a las ciudadanos, quienes podrán acudir, junto a los responsables de estas organizaciones, para exponer sus necesidades e inquietudes.

Esta oficina estará abierta de 8 a 15 horas en las instalaciones de

la Tenencia de Alcaldía situada en Marina de Casares. Una vez analizadas todas las demandas expuestas por estas entidades, se pondrá en marcha un plan de acción a medio plazo consistente en recepcionar por parte del Ayuntamiento los servicios públicos tales como el alumbrado y la limpieza de viales, lo que supondrá un alivio económico para los ciudadanos. Además, la intención es acometer las

mejoras necesarias en cada una de las entidades.

Los trabajos de mantenimiento de los viales ya ha comenzado, sí como la pintura de los pasos de peatones y líneas de la calzada de las urbanizaciones. En los próxiomes meses arrancará un plan de limpieza acordado con los responsables de las entidades con el propósito de que un día ala semana pase la maquina barredora por cada una de ellas.

El ayuntamiento presenta un presupuesto de 12,7 millones de euros para este 2016 Casares contará para este 2016 con un presupuesto de 12,7 millones, lo que supone 1,5 millones más con respecto a los del pasado año. Desde el Consistorio explican que se trata de un presupuesto equilibrado que se ajusta a la realidad.

En este sentido, cabe destacar un aumento en las inversiones del 173%, lo que supone una mejora en las infraestructuras municipales. A esta partida se ha destinado más de dos millones de euros, frente a los 750.000 euros del capítulo de inversiones de 2015. El concejal de Hacienda, Guzmán de Ahumada, destacó que aunque el presupuesto incluye una bajada de los impuestos municipales, de IBI y Plusvalía de un 18%,

“no supondrá una merma en los servicios municipales”.

La partida para este año incluye también los gastos derivados para las subvenciones a la creación de empresas de 2016 y 100.000 euros para inversiones que repercutan de manera inmediata en la creación de empleo. El edil apuntó que “se trata de un presupuesto flexible, abierto en sus partidas, y por tanto abierto al consenso político y a la participación ciudadana”.

Guzmán de Ahumada apuntó además que es “un presupuesto que avanza en todas las áreas, lo que tendrá una correspondencia directa en mejoras de servicios, las infraestructuras y los programas municipales que se dirigen a la ciudadanía”.

Casares opens an office for Urban Entities As of the 19th of January, residents of Casares Costa can count on a new municipal service: the Office of Attention to Urban Conservation Entities. The aim is to support and help residents, along with those responsible for the respective entities, to express their needs and concerns.

The office will be open from 8am to 3pm in at the Deputy Mayor’s Office

located in Marina de Casares. Once all suggestions and concerns have been analysed, the Town Hall will put together a medium term plan of action consisting of the reception of certain utilities such as lighting and street cleaning, which will come as a relief to residents. Furthermore, the intention is to undertake necessary improvements in the area.

Road maintenance has already begun with the painting of pedestrian crossings etc. on urbanisations. Over the next few months, a street cleaning plan will be agreed with those responsible for the entities so that at least once a week the street cleaning vehicle can pass through all urbanisations.

Los jóvenes de Casares proponen una treintena de iniciativas en el Consejo Local Los más jóvenes de Casares han presentado una gran variedad de propuestas en el Consejo Local de la Juventud para los próximos meses. Muchas de estas sugerencias están relacionadas con el ocio y el tiempo libre, pero también de índoles culturales, deportivas y vinculadas con la naturaleza y un mayor conocimiento del entorno

de la localidad.

Desde la concejalía de Juventud se destinará 4.000 euros al nuevo programa de actividades que se incluirá hasta el mes de mayo.

Asimismo, desde el área se ha informado también que el nuevo presupuesto municipal designará una cuantía de 40.000 euros para los programas juveniles de las Ferias de Agosto y Cristo.

Serán los mismos jóvenes quienes decidan cómo se gastará la mayor parte de esa cantidad, alrededor de 30.000 euros, una vez descontados los pagos de sonido, iluminación y seguridad.

En la próxima reunión del Consejo Local, que será el 19 de febrero, se presentará el programa de actividades propuestas por los más jóvenes.

El Ayuntamiento de Casares preparara un proyecto de mejora para los Baños de la Hedionda El alcalde y la concejala de Cultura, Pepe Carrasco y Rocío Ruiz, visitaron recientamente la zona junto a personal técnico para preparar un proyecto de consolidación de la estructura de los baños y actuación en el entorno.

Con la intención de preservar la zona y prepararla para la próxima temporada de baño, desde el Ayuntamiento se redacta un proyecto de actuación en los Baños de la Hedionda.

La intención municipal es trabajar en dos direcciones, por un lado realizar obras de consolidación de la estructura tradicional, reforzando el perímetro exterior, renovando el suelo del recinto, instalando nueva barandilla y escalera de acceso a los baños.

Por otro lado, está previsto realizar una intervención en la parte pública de la zona exterior.

Esto significaría la creación de tres pequeñas piscinas naturales en el canal que va de los baños al río, una actuación leve que concuerda con las indicaciones expuestas a los responsables del Ayuntamiento por la Consejería

de Medio Ambiente.

El proyecto, del que se va a informar ahora a los órganos de Cultura y Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía, incluye también el desbroce selectivo de la vegetación, dejando los juncos y replantando especies autóctonas como el sauce o el álamo blanco.

Secadero realiza mejoras en el mobiliario urbano Secadero ha llevado a cabo un plan embellecimiento del mobiliario urbano y del cuidado de los jardines con el fin mantener la buena presencia y estética del pueblo. Estos trabajos han consistido principalmente en pintar los bancos, papeleras, barandas, maceteros, pérgolas y señales de tráfico.

La concejala del Secadero, Noelia Rodríguez, apuntó que este plan

de mejora es importante tanto para los vecinos como para los visitantes que acuden al pueblo.

El trabajo se ha realizado por fases y, entre otras actuaciones, se ha pintado los bancos de la calle Carretera y de la plaza que está al final de la vía, así como las barandillas.

También se han ejecutado trabajos especiales de jardinería como la poda de árboles de calle

Gaucín, la zona de la gasolinera y la plaza. Los operarios han reparado además los daños ocasionados por una serie de actos vandálicos que provocaron desperfectos en paredes y otros lugares. Desde el Ayuntamiento llaman al civismo de todos en insisten en la importancia de cuidar y mantener los espacios comunes.

El Ayuntamiento programará acciones para el arreglo de la carretera A-377 Los ayuntamientos afectados por el mal estado de la carretera A-377 han mantenido una reunión con el objeto de programar las acciones necesarias para que el arreglo de esta vía sea una realidad este año 2016.

El presupuesto de la Junta de Andalucía para este curso incluye una partida de seis millones de euros para el arreglo de la carretera que une Casares con Manilva y Gaucín. La A-377 tiene su firme lleno de baches y socavones y carece de la señalización adecuada, una situación que como explica el alcalde de la localidad, Pepe Carrasco “ocasiona un serio perjuicio a los vecinos de la zona, a los comercios por el temor de los visitantes de optar por una carretera en el estado en el que se encuentra, y a las industrias porque en algunas ocasiones grandes distribuidores se han negado a circular por la misma para dejar su mercancía”.

La vía sufre un abandono de más de 20 años y desde hace

más de una década se viene solicitando su arreglo, para lo que el Ayuntamiento de Casares impulsó en 2012 la plataforma de municipios afectados.

Caminos rurales Por otra parte, el Consistorio ha preparado la mejora de más de tres kilómetros lineales de caminos rurales del municipio.

Los trabajos afectan a cuatro caminos y se ha comenzado por el que conecta la A-377 con el camino de Los Molinos,

actuando en los tramos que están en peor estado, echándole una capa de estéril y compactándola.

Un arreglo similar se realizará en el camino Los Llanos que conduce al canuto de la Utrera, un tramo de 500 metros donde se pretende eliminar los socavones existentes. Además, también se prepara la mejora de un tramo de 400 metros que se encuentran sin hormigonar en el camino Los Molinos, desde la fuente de Santa Catalina hasta el río, y del arreglo del camino de Jimena.

La Mesa de la Sierra de la Utrera prepara medidas de protección para los yacimientos arqueológicos Se reunió el pasado viernes para tratar diversos asuntos relacionados con el BIC , entre los que destaca unas Jornadas Informativas que se celebrarán los días 1 y 2 de abril El Ayuntamiento de Casares va a modificar la normativa de espeleología para delimitar los permisos en cuanto a tiempo y zona a visitar. Una medida acordada el pasado viernes en la Mesa de Seguimiento del BIC (Bien de Interés Cultural) de la Sierra de la Utrera que tiene como objeto proteger los yacimientos arqueológicos.

En la reunión de la mesa, que se celebraba tras los actos vandálicos sufridos en yacimientos arqueológicos hace varias semanas, también se trató el cierre de algunas galerías para reforzar las medidas de protección.

El encuentro se desarrolló en un ambiente distendido y de diálogo, llegándose a acuerdos en todos los asuntos tratados.

Participaron, por parte del Ayuntamiento, la concejala de Cultura , Roció Ruiz, junto a técnicos municipales, además de representantes de diferentes colectivos de arqueólogos, espeleólogos y ecologistas que componen la Plataforma para la Protección de la Sierra de la Utrera.

También se avanzó en el

programa de las Jornadas Informativas de la Sierra de la Utrera que está previsto se celebren los días 1 y 2 de abril, viernes y sábado después de Semana Santa.

Las jornadas servirán para dar a conocer los estudios que llevan a cabo investigadores de Universidades Andaluzas en los yacimientos de la zona, considerados de gran valor arqueológico por acoger un enterramiento datado en el Neolítico inicial que es único en Andalucía. Además se tratarán temas relacionados con la espeleología, la protección como BIC de la Sierra de la Utrera, y características de interés relacionados con los valores naturales y geológicos del paraje.

Tres Grandes Proyectos urbanísticos se pondrán en marcha próximamente Las delegaciones de Urbanismo e Infraestructura y obras dirigidas por Diego José Jiménez y Antonio Barragán respectivamente, ultiman detalles para realizar tres obras de mucha importancia en el municipio.

Estos grandes proyectos en los que se lleva trabajando en los últimos meses, serán una realidad en poco tiempo tras la obtención de los permisos necesarios y las financiaciones correspondientes de la Diputación de Málaga.

Una de estas actuaciones es la reurbanización de la plaza Ginebra donde a petición vecinal y según el primer edil manilveño eran necesarias más plazas de aparcamiento. Esta obra cuenta con un presupuesto de más de 216.000 euros y está cofinanciaciada por el Ayuntamiento y la Diputación de Málaga.

Otro de los proyectos que se van a ejecutar en breve y que además cuenta con el 100% de financiación por parte de diputación, es la impermeabilización del monumento del Castillo con un presupuesto de más de 60.000 euros. El primer edil recordaba que sólo una cuarta parte del monumento esta impermeabilizado.

Por otra parte, otra obra de interés por la peligrosidad de los viandantes al acceder desde la zona de la urbanización La Noria hasta los comercios como Lidl u Ortega Avilés, es la pasarela peatonal que se va a construir en esta zona.

Tal y como aclaraba el alcalde de Manilva a estos tres grandes proyectos hay que sumar la creación de la piscina cubierta que se ejecutará en La Ciudad Deportiva de Sabinillas de la que en los próximos días daremos más información.

Manilva Manilva se da a conocer en FITUR El municipio de Manilva se ha dado a conocer en la Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) que ha tenido lugar en Madrid durante los pasados 20 y 24 de enero. La localidad ha ofrecido sus productos, y se ha reunido con importantes touroperadores a nivel internacional.

El primer día se llevó a cabo en este escaparate del turismo una presentación y degustación del vino Nilva y de la cerveza elaborada en el municipio, Grand de Select, dos de los productos estrellas. Ese mismo día, el alcalde, Diego José Jiménez, y los ediles de Urbanismo y Comercio, Francisco Becerra y Dean Tyler Shelton, respectivamente, participaron en la conferencia organizada por el Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente titulada “Viaje por los paraísos y sabores de España”.

Los representantes municipales mantuvieron encuentros con importantes touroperadores con el objetivo de ofrecerles las posibilidades con las que cuenta Manilva en cuanto a excursiones culturales. Además, también se reunieron con los responsables de aplicaciones turísticas en movilidad, una empresa que crea aplicaciones de software que se instala en dispositivos móviles o tablets para ayudar a los usuarios a encontrar información sobre los municipios.

Durante la feria se repartirán miles de ejemplares de una guía turística en cuyo interior aparece Manilva para darla a conocer a todos los asistentes.

El Ayuntamiento ha estimado que aproximadamente 90.000 personas recibieron publicidad directa de la localidad en sus manos.

Municipal representatives held meetings with major tour operators in order to introduce them to the vast amount of cultural tours in Manilva. In addition, they also met with the heads of mobile touristic applications, a company that creates software applications for mobile devices or tablets to help users find information about different municipalities.

During the fair, thousands of copies of a guidebook were distributed about Manilva to visitors and participants. The Town Hall estimated that approximately 90,000 people received first-hand information about the municipality.

El presupuesto de Manilva para 2016 cuenta con un superávit de 700.000 euros El presupuesto de Manilva para este año 2016 contará con un superávit de cerca de 700.000 euros, según el informe presentado por el Ayuntamiento de la localidad hace pocas semanas. El documento ha cifrado los ingresos previstos en 23,8 millones de euros y los gastos en 23,1 millones. Estas cantidades están señaladas sin contar con otros gastos excepcionales e impuestos.

El concejal de Hacienda, Manolo Gil, manifestó que “hemos de

destacar que este presupuesto, aunque teníamos un plazo mayor para presentarlo, ha sido propuesto en pleno en tiempo récord y antes de finalizar el año. Además, su elaboración se ha basado en el equilibrio, se consecuentes con las previsiones de ingresos y gastos, y sobre todo, con responsabilidad política ya que estamos gestionando dinero público”, apostilló.

La inversión irá destinada a infraestructura y obras, recursos humanos, juventud, deporte,

cultura, limpieza, medio ambiente, playas, comercio y consumo, extranjeros, turismo, agricultura y pesca, participación ciudadana, igualdad y asuntos sociales, entre otros. Las chicas de la compañía teatral “Caramala” harán reír al público en un espectáculo en el que tendrá cabida también la reflexión espiritual sobre la vida y la muerta, la amistad y por encima de todo, la capacidad del ser humano de abordar y superar los episodios oscuros que marcan su destino. La obra marcará un intervalo de tiempo, donde un bar ofrece ventajosos servicios a sus clientes. La comedia, concebida en época de crisis, la forman tres mujeres, tres luchadoras y una

Las actrices tienen sendas trayectorias que comprenden experiencias teatrales en diversas compañías andaluzas y en el campo audiovisual en conocidas series de ficción, tanto en la televisión autonómica como en las de ámbito nacional. El Instituto Arqueológico Alemán ejecutará las excavaciones

para que también sean un reclamo al público. La campaña arqueológica dará comienzo en el mes de septiembre y para todos los interesados habrá una conferencia previa antes del verano para conocer los trabajos llevados a cabo.

Concurso de pintura, fotografía y poesía con motivo Manilva contará por primera vez del Día Internacional de la Mujer Trabajadora con una subestación eléctrica La delegación de la Mujer ha propuesto para las vecinas de la localidad un concurso de pintura, fotografía y poesía con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer Trabajadora, que se celebrará el 8 de marzo. El objetivo de esta iniciativa es reflexionar sobre la relevancia del quehacer diario de las mujeres en nuestra sociedad.

El tema seleccionado, “Mujeres trabajadoras no remunerados económicamente”, estará dirigido a todas las residentes del municipio mayores de edad. Cada participante podrá presentar un máximo de dos obras. Las fotografías deberán ser originales, no expuestas anteriormente y sin modificar informáticamente, y presentadas impresas en papel y en tamaño A4. En el apartado de pinturas las obras deben ser presentadas con total libertad de técnicas, materiales y medidas. Por su parte, los trabajos de poesía, mostrados en papel, contarán

con una extensión máxima de cinco estrofas de cuatro versos.

La fecha entrega límite será el 4 de marzo a la 13 horas en el Edificio de Usos Múltiples de Sabinillas, de 9 a 13 horas. Los

trabajos se darán a conocer al público mediante una exposición en Villa Matilde el 8 de marzo.

Se otorgará un único premio para cada categoría consistente en 200 euros más un diploma.

Operarios municipales están realizando un recorrido a lo largo y ancho del paseo marítimo para repasar, sustituir y mejorar el firme. Los trabajos están consistiendo en la sustitución de las losas que estén deterioradas y que esto signifique que cualquier

persona pueda tropezar y caerse.

Aunque tanto de Infraestructura y Obras como de Parques y Jardines se tiene una conciencia general sobre el municipio y sus necesidades, el paseo marítimo, por ser una de las zonas más transitadas del término y paso ineludible para la playa.

El Club Deportivo Manilva basketbase ya prepara una nueva edición del campus de baloncesto Desde el lunes 22 y hasta el viernes 26 de febrero el complejo municipal de Las Viñas acogerá el Campus de Semana Blanca 2016.

Como en cada periodo vacacional, el C. D. Manilva Basketbase junto con la Delegación de Deportes, que dirige el edil Agustín Vargas, ponen en marcha este tipo de actividades con el objetivo de ocupar el tiempo de ocio de los jóvenes manilveños.

Según la organización, las

actividades se desarrollarán en horario de nueve de la mañana a dos de la tarde y está dirigida a chicos y chicas con edades comprendidas entre los tres y los dieciséis años.

En este tradicional campamento los participantes realizarán numerosas actividades deportivas, además de talleres y otro tipo de actividades lúdicas.

El precio de la inscripción es de 25 euros. Además el transporte para los alumnos de otros núcleos

poblacionales será gratuito.

Tanto el concejal de Deportes Agustín Vargas y el Club manilveño animan a los jóvenes de la localidad a formar parte del Campus de Semana Blanca.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha acometido trabajos de mejoras en la zona de la Peñuela, concretamente en el parque, su entorno y el paseo, según han informado fuentes municipales.

Estas tareas se han realizado para ofrecer un mejor servicio a los ciudadanos.

Los trabajadores que han emprendido estas labores han sido contratados a través del Plan de Fomento de Empleo Agrario (AEPSA), y han realizado su actividad desbrozando el terreno, podando árboles y mejorando

los accesos.

Posteriormente a este perfeccionamiento de la zona, se han eliminado las cañas y el matorral para que los viales estén más amplios, con mayor visibilidad y de fácil recorrido.

El concejal de Agricultura, Francisco Becerra, se mostró satisfecho de que “un lugar idílico muy visitado por nuestros vecinos pueda mejorar su aspecto y dejarlo totalmente acondicionado para el disfrute de todos”.

MODELO 720. DECLARACIÓN TRIBUTARIA SOBRE BIENES Y DERECHOS EN EL EXTRANJERO PARA LOS RESIDENTES EN ESPAÑA Todos aquellos residentes fiscales en España (aquellos que vivan en España más de 183 días al año o tengan en España la base principal de su negocio) deben saber que a raíz de la legislación aprobada el 29 de Octubre de 2012 para la prevención y lucha contra el fraude, que todos aquellas personas físicas o jurídicas residentes en España propietarios de viviendas u otro tipo de bienes fuera de España cuyo valor sea de 50.000€ o más, tienen obligación de hacer esta declaración ante las autoridades españolas.

Esta declaración puede ser realizada de forma “on line”, a través de la web de la Agencia Tributaria cumplimentado el Modelo 720 (Declaración de Bienes fuera de España).

Esta declaración debe ser presentada entre el 1 de Enero de 2013 y el 31 de marzo del mismo año, para así evitar ser investigado o multado por las Autoridades españolas.

Los bienes fuera de España que están sujetos a esta nueva declaración están comprendidos en 3 categorías: 1. Bienes Inmuebles.

2. Todo tipo de cuentas, inversiones, depósitos bancarios y empresas.

3. Acciones, rentas, seguros, bonos o dividendos adquiridos o gestionados fuera de España.

El valor total debe de ser 50.000€ en cada una de la categorías; es decir si tenemos 2 propiedades valoradas en 30.000€ y la valorásemos de forma individualizada cada una de ellas, estarían por debajo del umbral, pero si sumando el valor de ambas excedieran este límite, estarían sujetas a esta nueva declaración, necesitando cumplimentar el Modelo 720.

La declaración debe ser realizada individualmente por el propietario/s, sin tener en cuenta el número de ellos, y el porcentaje de participación, el

cual se establecerá más tarde.

Aunque la declaración sobre bienes y derechos en el extranjero tiene carácter informativo y no recaudatorio, las consecuencias que se pueden derivar de su falta de presentación o de su presentación fuera de plazo o de que la información contenida no sea la correcta, pueden ser muy graves para los obligados a declarar.

Es por ello, que recomendamos que cumplan con su obligación y así para evitar la imposición de multas con un importe mínimo de 10.000€ y un máximo del 150% del valor no declarado de aquellos bienes situados fuera de España. El Modelo 720 es meramente una declaración informativa no sujeta a ningún tipo de tributación.

En años sucesivos sólo habrá que presentar una nueva declaración en el caso de haber un incremento superior a 20.000 euros respecto a la última declaración presentada relativos a cada una de las 3 categorías mencionadas con anterioridad, de lo contrario no habrá obligación de presentar una nueva declaración.

“MODELO 720” TAX DECLARATION FORM FOR RESIDENTS IN SPAIN WITH ASSETS OUTSIDE OF SPAIN All those tax residents in Spain, (those living in Spain for more than 183 days a year or when Spain is the main base for your business), should be aware that as a result of legislation passed on 29th October, 2012 for the prevention and control fraud, all natural or legal persons resident in Spain who have any assets outside of Spain with a value of € 50,000 or more, are required to submit this declaration form to the Spanish authorities.

This declaration can be made on line, through the Tax Office`s web page www.agenciatributaria.es where the Modelo 720 (Statement of Assets Outside Spain) can be located and completed. It must be filed between January 1, and March 31, of the first year of residence, to avoid being investigated or fined by the Spanish authorities.

The assets outside of Spain that are subject to this new declaration form fall into 3 categories: 1. Real Estate.

2. All types of accounts, investments, bank deposits and companies.

3. Actions, rent, insurance, bonds or dividends acquired or managed outside Spain.

To warrant a declaration the total value of assets should be € 50,000 or more in EACH OR ANY ONE of the categories; e.g. if we have 2 properties valued at € 30,000 although the value individually would be below the threshold the total value of both would be €60,000 thus exceeding this limit, and therefore subject to this new declaration, necessitating the completion and filing of Modelo 720. However, if you have a property valued at €30,000 and say, shares valued at €30,000 as they are in separate categories and each total value does not exceed the €50,000 then you would not be required to make a declaration.

A declaration must be submitted individually by the owner / s, regardless of their number and the percentage of participation, which would be established later. For example, if you own half of a property with a value of €50,000, although your particular €25,000 share is below the threshold, each owner would still be required to submit an individual declaration based on the total value of the property.

Although this declaration of assets and rights abroad is solely informative and NO TAX is charged, failure to file, late filing or false information could result in serious consequences.

For this reason, we recommend that residents fulfill their obligation to declare their assets, to avoid the imposition of fines from a minimum of € 10,000 to a maximum of 150% of the value of those undeclared assets located outside Spain.

Cambridge Global Payments

It’s that time of the year again. The festive cheer had contaminated markets and economic calendars across the globe are empty. The recovery in the 19-strong Eurozone is improving but the pace has been slowing of late. Growth had picked up to 0.5% in Q1 2015 (compared with Q4 2014), and slackened to 0.4% in Q2 and 0.3% in Q3. That pace is disappointing given the fact that the Eurozone has been benefiting from a double stimulus.

First, the fall in the oil price has acted essentially like a tax cut, boosting consumer spending - the main driver of the recovery. Second, the European Central Bank (ECB) has been implementing an extensive quantitative easing program – creating money to buy financial assets – since March this year. The Euro has been kept weak, helping exporters and contributing to a big current-account surplus of 3.7% of GDP in 2015.

2015 was a volatile year for the Euro with GBPEUR trading around 1.27 during January to levels now close to multi-year highs, above 1.40. Volatility is likely to remain high as we look past the snow into 2016 as the Bank of England looks to potentially start tightening monetary policy at some point and the recovery within the Eurozone starts to show.

Algeciras to Ronda By Train In the late 19th Century British officers, garrisoned at Gibraltar, enjoyed the campo and travelled as far as Gaucin but the roads were narrow with pot holes and craters and the carriages often had to navigate round boulders fallen on the road from the hillsides above. It took many hours, sometimes days, to even reach Gaucin. In 1890 a British engineer, John Morrison, with the backing of his friend, Sir Alexander Henderson, later Lord Faringdon, proposed a single track rail line between Algeciras and Bobadilla where it would meet the main line to Madrid. The pair had previously been responsible for building railways through atrocious country in South America so had little difficulty in Spain.

The first section of line, to Estacion Jimena, was opened in October 1890 and the second stretch, to Ronda, in November 1892. The company established to build and operate the line was the Algeciras (Gibraltar) Railway Company Ltd. To cater for the gentlemen and their ladies Henderson also built two hotels the first being the Reina Cristina, at Algeciras.

The architect, T.E. Colcutt, was nothing if not British and produced a baroque colonial haven of tranquillity that was typically English. Originally the hotel had magnificent views of the Rock and across to Africa. During the Second World War it was popular with spies from both the Axis and Allied camps who spotted shipping in the Strait. Some even took sea view rooms on a long let and converted the bathrooms to dark rooms. In the 1890s the hotel was not only used by passengers on the new train line who would disembark from the

small packet steamer from Gibraltar, it was also popular with those travelling on the P. & O. ships to India and the Far East who would disembark for the Saturday evening dances. In 1906 the Reina Victoria was built at the other end of the line in Ronda and today offers guests the same very English service and atmosphere enjoyed by the officers and ladies from Gibraltar a hundred years ago.

Between Algeciras and Ronda there are eleven stations, all originally built to the same pattern. You would be forgiven for thinking that you had been transported to the set of The Railway Children at many of the single storey stations. An English station clock hangs beneath a fringed wooden canopy. Metal slatted seats stand outside the stationmasters office. Some have a weighbridge for goods set into the platform, made in England of course. The original hand operated points and signals are still lovingly cared for. Most stations are well maintained, the platforms decorated with brilliantly coloured geraniums and petunias, the slatted fences painted annually. The stationmaster is also in charge of the points and level crossings so, after setting the necessary levers, he rapidly dons his uniform to await the arrival of the train. He is equipped with a red cap and carries a red flag and a whistle with which he signals the train driver to proceed. Its all very nostalgic.

Electronic signalling has also replaced the manual method of warning of oncoming trains. The method was simple and foolproof. As a train left each station the driver was given a hoop. He handed this to the next stationmaster who could then release any train standing in the spur line at his station and the hoop would travel back to its home station with that driver.

The original steam trains were replaced by diesel in the 1970s, a disappointment to steam buffs but a great increase in efficiency. When the rails were wet the old engines had trouble climbing some of the steep inclines and had to be preceded by a man throwing sand on the track, reducing the speed to a walking pace. The modern diesels spray sand automatically when they detect a lack of adhesion.

Secure in the knowledge that progress will be in a forward direction passengers can sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery as the line follows the course

of the Rio Guadiaro. You will notice that the towns and villages served by the stations are some way from the line and normally perched high above on their defensive ridges and buttresses. Estacion Gaucin, or Colmenar for instance, is 12 kilometres from Gaucin itself and Estacion Cortes serving Cortes de la Frontera is 5 kilometres away. After Estacion Jimena the line takes you through canyons and narrow valleys as it starts its climb up to Ronda, crossing and re-crossing the river. Just before Ronda the line performs a hairpin bend to manage the last hill. It is a fantastic example of the best of 19th century, British, engineering.

Sotogrande S. A. reanuda las obras en la Reserva ·

Sotogrande SA ha iniciado la finalización de las infraestructuras en La Reserva, paralizadas desde 2008.

El plan del trabajo se ha planteado con el objetivo de su total integración en el entorno, respetando los principios desarrollados por los fundadores de Sotogrande.

Una vez terminado el sistema de carreteras, los residentes e invitados tendrán acceso interno completo a las instalaciones de todo el recinto de La Reserva.

A finales de junio de 2016 está previsto que finalicen las obras, que generarán 175 empleos directos e indirectos y beneficiará directamente a la comunidad local.

Sotogrande S. A. ha anunciado hoy la reanudación de las obras en el tramo final de la carretera principal y los servicios públicos de La Reserva, comunidad dentro de Tras un extenso proceso de licitación, la empresa OHL fue seleccionada como contratista general. Esta obra, con un presupuesto de 8 M€, tiene un impacto positivo en la economía local tanto por proveedores como puestos de trabajo con un máximo de 175 puestos directos e indirectos.

Marc Topiol, CEO de Sotogrande S. A., ha afirmado que, «con la finalización de una obra de esta magnitud, La Reserva da su primer paso hacia la integración de la comunidad en un área con acceso a todas las instalaciones sin tener que salir del perímetro.

La principal consecuencia es la

mejora de la seguridad y en la facilidad de uso».

Las obras proporcionarán acceso directo a la zona conocida como La Gran Reserva, que ofrece unas vistas panorámicas al mar y a toda La Reserva de Sotogrande.

Este último tramo de obras incluye también la recientemente terminada reforma de La Reserva Casa Club, que ofrece ahora nuevas instalaciones, sobre todo con la incorporación de su nuevo restaurante, Olive.

La Reserva, la promoción inmobiliaria La Reserva es una comunidad situada en Sotogrande, Cadiz, un enclave privilegiado que ofrece a sus residentes e invitados la oportunidad de volver a conectar con ellos mismos y con sus familiares y amigos.

Un paseo por la historia en el interior de las Cuevas de Nerja Hace más de cinco décadas, concretamente el 12 de enero de 1959, un grupo de cinco jóvenes del núcleo de Maro descubrieron uno de los hallazgos más importantes de la provincia de Málaga, las Cuevas de Nerja. Aunque esta pequeña población conocía la existencia de una cavidad, fueron estos adolescentes quienes se atrevieron a adentrarse en ella tras seguir a una bandada de murciélagos que salían del interior. Hoy en día, este monumento natural es punto de referencia turística y congrega cada año a miles de personas en este rincón de la Axarquía malagueña.

La hendidura les condujo hasta un estrecho pasadizo, denominado desde entonces, Conducto del Descubrimiento, que desembocaba en la sala que hoy se conoce con el nombre de Sala de la Cascada o del Ballet. Impresionados por su hallazgo y escuchando el aleteo de los miles de murciélagos que los acompañaban en su aventura, avanzaron hasta llegar a la Sala de los Fantasmas, donde descubrieron dos esqueletos humanos.

Días más tarde regresaron a la gruta acompañados por dos de sus maestros, quienes se percataron de la veracidad del descubrimiento. La expectación fue tal que en abril de ese mismo año se realizó una nueva expedición, esta vez con un fotógrafo, cuya imágenes publicadas en un periódico de Málaga, dio a conocer las Cuevas de Nerja al mundo entero, despertando el interés de autoridades, comunidad científicas y medios de ámbito nacional e internacional. Tal fue su enorme riqueza patrimonial que en junio de 1961 fue declarada Monumento Histórico Artístico y, posteriormente, Bien de Interés Cultural.

La cueva cuenta con cerca de 600 motivos agrupados en 321 grupos pictóricos y grabados parientales catalogados en dos grandes grupos, el Paleolítico

Superior y la Prehistoria Reciente. El arte rupestre de la cavidad no puede ser visitado por el público por motivos de conservación. Entre las especies animales representadas se encuentran caballos, ciervos, cabras, focas y aves, cuyos métodos de aplicación fueron de tipo indirecto, con dedos, lápiz e incluso pincel. Asimismo, la cavidad conserva estratos arqueológicos que abarcan unas cronologías comprendidas entre los 25.000 y 4.000 años hasta el presente. Esto permite deducir que la Cueva de Nerja fue utilizada como hábitat, lugar de enterramiento y para plasmar manifestaciones artísticas, entre otras actividades.

La Cueva de Nerja es, desde hace décadas, uno de los monumentos más visitados del país, con alrededor de medio millón de visitas anuales, y constituyendo el principal motor económico de la comarca malagueña en la que se ubica, la Axarquía. Aquellos que quieran disfrutar de este rico yacimiento arqueológico lo podrán hacer todos los días del año, a excepción del 1 de enero y 15 de mayo, en horario de 9:00 a 15:00 h. con cierre a las 16:00 h. Por su parte, hay un horario especial para jueves, viernes y sábado santo y para los meses de julio y agosto de 9:00 a 17:30 h. con cierre a las 18.30 h.

¡OTRA GUERRA! Otros paisajes veo, pero no puedo ahora en mi dolor referirme a ellos.

Externos, internos corazones de hombres, ¿quién los conoce? ¿Quién apaga el aliento de los nobles?

Huir de tanta destrucción, calavera de ideas, ¿quién cuelga en ese hueso de perezosa lágrima?

Bajan y miran los tentáculos, saborean la uva de los que arrojan piedras detrás de las higueras: el campo es aún más grande, más hermoso, de luces y de noches; pero la sangre altera a quien combate y destruye.

El campo y la mar y los cielos, ojos gigantes, anchura entre los párpados abre un mar de amor que no apague el vínculo entre las naciones, (si alcanza la vista el nuevo otoño del universo) todas sin origen ni días, tratando de alcanzar la cucaña del viento, ¡qué alto el celo argumentado de las respuestas que el hombre explora!

(Seremos capaces de vivir sin raíces opresoras).

Pero la noche hace dormir otras preguntas de la historia...

(Mejor no ser, nacer, decir, olvidar el minuto dedicado a lo reverso, podadera en la estación para el vino suave...)

La noche, la historia ordeña su cielo cambiando estrellas de lugar. ¿Se logrará en los descampados futuros de presentes que imperan melodías de frutos y hombres, y pájaros y paz?

Me inquieta esta injusticia de mayoría exaltada, cuando un berbiquí irrumpe y taladra pensamientos, ‘in situ’ se malogra y hace esclavo a los pueblos.

Me inquieta esta demora, en la que las manos se apoyan, cuestiones de asambleas, articulaciones de mundo que se quedan sin brazos.

Me inquieta la voluntad de aquellos que se inclinan ante autoridades, ante un dinero sobrado ( y así no faltan sobras).

Hoy bostezan una trampa y mañana otra; gasolina en caminos llagados de huellas radicales.

Tanques..., no garfios de fantasías, no revólveres de azufre rocinantes.

Me inquieta esa educación sin niñez confiada, por aquella sangre de deudores y adeudados, filosofía sin mar de luces y de ángeles, las madres y los padres, los cerros asfixiados y un hombre atravesado por navaja polimorfa.

Me inquieta mi desidia, y este, mi pobre poema, donde reposa el beso y la palabra de lo que aún no soy, justificando un ancla donde me duermo y nada mi anatomía en ensueños.

Pero también ahora, gracias a esta gramática-memoria, me inquieta estar tan vivo que muera por la tarde, ¿o es que estuve repleto de inmigrante esperanza?

Me llevo la noche y siento que el día aún no acaba.

Me impresionan los ojos de estudiantes, polea de sus temas, asuntos del mañana.

Me inquieta el embarazo de aborto proclamado.

Me inquieta..., y mi ansiedad se disipa, en mimo granate, bajo los muslos de la luna, que me dice: “Quédate un minuto, todavía bajo mi falda”.

El camino continúa El camino, qué largo y pesado cuando se tiene dolencias en los pies.

El corazón, también lo llevaba ese hombre prendido de amargura. (Los pies del corazón se hacen más pesados por las decepciones que lo intensifican). Se encontraba cansado, enfermo y sin fuerzas, procurando un apoyo, el que fuera.

El joven se sentó en el poyete que hay cercano a la escuela. Vio cómo unos cuantos niños jugaban en el patio, locuelos y llenos de gozo, el día soleado les enseñaba lecciones de luz.

El joven, de veintiséis años, estaba apocado, inclinó la cabeza, colocando sus dos manos en ella, pensó que estas se encontraban vacías, débiles como sus pies, incapaces de sostener su mente, su vida. Una monotonía lo arrastraba al vacío.

Recordó de golpe su infancia, cuando allí, en la misma escuela y en ese banco donde ahora se encontraba sentado, por las tardes, después de salir de clase, subía con sus amigos al banco-poyete de la infancia, y desde este saltaban para luego arrojarse a la calle y correr con más velocidad. Tonto y torpe el que no se arroje desde el poyete.

Y siempre Miguel era el que provocaba a todo el mundo. También el joven recordó el maldito accidente que le había destrozado las piernas; en ese momento levantó la cabeza y dijo: Ya está, no pasa nada; podría haber sido peor, y, mi destino, será el que venga, pero también el que me busque. ¡Maldita la hora en que cogí la moto borracho! ¡No me quejaré más!

El joven, se puso de pie y emitió un quejido por el dolor, su dolor se alineaba con su organismo para tratar de definir su realidad. Anduvo un poco hasta llegar a un banco de la plaza y volver a sentarse. Qué bien estás, le dijo una vecina.

Y él comprendió que podría ser peor. Pero esto duele, pensó en voz alta. Estarás tomando medicamentos. Sí, claro, y colocándome emplastes de plantas, y tomando calcio, y todo lo que venga bien para el dolor.

El joven se irguió ayudado por la muleta, y, lo que son las cosas, sintió ganas de tocar la guitarra imaginando que la muleta era el instrumento, pero no lo hizo, no porque le pareciera ridículo, sino porque era en verdad ridículo, y porque le dolía mucho las piernas, y hasta llegó a pensar en las parodias de los místicos mutilados.

De pronto, se sintió como un jubilado, o algo así, o era como un excluido; se encontraba mal y no podía permitirse ese lujo, así que se fue a casa.

La voluntad más noble del corazón es percibida por el espíritu.., oyó decir el joven a su hermana nada más entrar en su casa. Recitaba estos versos ensayando una obra de teatro escrita por ella misma que debía interpretar en la facultad.

El joven, dejó las muletas y aplaudió.

Whether you are writing articles, a nonfiction book, or a novel, there comes a time when research is essential, and the internet doesn’t provide valid answers – or provides too many! For credible research, it’s often better to go to the well-known institutions, so this month I’ve collected a range of online reference sites.

Dictionaries Ask Oxford has built a database on grammar, usage and words, as well as giving a quote of the week, word of the day, spelling help and origins of words and phrases. www.askoxford.com Cambridge http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ and Mirriam Webster www.merriam-webster. com/ are both good online dictionaries and http://thesaurus.reference.com/ is useful when an alternative word is needed.

Quotes and Sayings www.quotesandsayings.com/ is a wonderful site to find quotes by subject or author, excerpts from speeches and poetry, and a good selection of proverbs and sayings. The site also provides the full text of several books by Arthur Conan Doyle and the following works by Shakespeare: All’s Well that Ends Well, As You Like It, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest and his Sonnets.

Reader’s Letter Geoff (originally from Carlisle) says: I have self-published a novel and want to arrange some publicity back in my home town. I got in touch with the local paper and the editor said to send in a press release. This is great, but I have no idea how to go about it.

A press release is an extremely effective way of garnering some free publicity. The main function of a press release, from the newspaper’s point of view, is slightly different to yours. You want it to promote your book; the newspaper is looking for newsworthy, interesting and pertinent information of benefit to its readers. So your press release won’t find favour if it comes across as a straightforward blatant advertisement for your book.

With a bit of luck, the editor will use your press release as the basis for a longer or shorter feature of their own. However, you need to bear in mind that it might be run it as it is – word for word. Because of this, you have to write your story as you would like to see it published. This means keeping it concise, pithy, but, above all, error-free.

Write in the third person, present it in double line spacing, use an acceptable font, such as Times New Roman or Arial and keep it to one page, if at all possible.

Write PRESS RELEASE in capitals and centre it at the top of the page. Below this, indicate when the release can be used.

This will be the date when your book is available; if that is straight away, write ‘for immediate use’.

Under this comes the all-important headline which should describe the content of the press release in a nutshell.

Sharp, concise, and amusing headlines are the most attention-grabbing. Type it in bold and centre it on the page.

The first paragraph contains a brief summary of what the press release is about and this is followed by more detail in consecutive paragraphs. Explain the book’s theme in a few words, what inspired you to write it, and your interests and experience in the field. Enliven the release by including a piece of information as a direct quote.

At the bottom of the page, write your contact details including a phone number and/or email address, so that you can be contacted immediately if the editor needs further information.

Include a picture of the book cover and a head and shoulders shot of yourself. Write a caption for each, and submit with the editorial.

New Shirts for the Manilva Basketball Club The company Ammex handed over 140 shirts to the Manilva basketball club during a ceremony held in the Las Viñas sports pavilion.

Ammex collaborates with basketball in Manilva and have distributed shirts to all teams in the different categories. Marjoleine Miranda of Ammex said “The children were very pleased and we more so. Values that are promoted in this sport such as discipline, hard work, effort and companionship are also cornerstones to the success of our company”.

The sports department at the Town Hall of Manilva, headed by Agustin Vargas, was also present at the ceremony, and wished to thank all entrepreneurs who support local sport.

The Councilor commented that “all collaboration is welcome as it helps in the

development of young people and promotes a healthier life style.”

clothes, shoes and accessories.

Both shops will keep the same hours, Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 1.30 pm, but it is planned to extend these hours in the coming months.

Estepona Floral Art Club Well Christmas, New Year and Three Kings have all been celebrated in style and members of the Flower Club really enjoyed their festive lunch in December at La Grappa, members and visitors all took part in arranging flowers in a festive ring and Dawn showed us some fabulous ideas for decorations.

The Club is now looking forward to welcoming this years demonstrators some of whom are returning to the Club for a second time. This month it’s the turn of Kathleen Williams a NAFAS demonstrator from the Manchester area, she is Chairman of Oldham Flower Club, Treasurer of her local contemporary flower club and also takes part in, and has organized, Flower Festivals - sounds like a busy lady!

The January demonstration takes place at Agro Jardin, Cancelada on Tuesday January 19 starting promptly at 3pm when Kathleen will create some wonderful designs. Why not come along to a fun filled afternoon?

Kathleen has also kindly offered to teach a workshop on Thursday 21 January starting at 11am when she will teach a specific arrangement. Anyone is welcome to attend the demonstration or workshop, visitors fee for the demonstration is 10€. If you would like to take part in the workshop, which for those who don’t know is where Kathleen will show you how to create a specific

design, please contact Sally (contact details below) to reserve your place and receive all the necessary information. The workshops are an ideal opportunity to learn the art of Flower Arranging in a small group, with an expert instructor.

The demonstration promises to be a very entertaining afternoon, you do not need to have a knowledge of flowers or flower arranging to enjoy it. Everyone is welcome but please note the meetings are conducted in English.

Llega la época de la orugas Thaumetopoea pityocampa, o sea, la procesionaria, que estas semanas están saliendo de sus nidos de nuevo, ya que el clima se calienta y aproximamos la primavera. Estas orugas podrían estar fuera ahora o es posible que no vayan a verlas hasta abril, dependiendo de dónde se encuentre. Lo principal a recordar es que estén atentos en su búsqueda y que tengan cuidado en zonas donde haya muchos pinos.

Mantenga sus mascotas alejadas y no trate de tocarlos o manejarlos. Los pelos blancos con los están cubiertos los nidos contienen una fuerte sustancia irritante y tóxica.

Esta forma de pasear en fila es una estrategia de protección que da la impresión de una serpiente para disuadir a los posibles depredadores, como las aves, por ejemplo.

Si alguna parte de la fila de las orugas se altera se envía un mensaje a todos los demás y liberan su sustancia irritante, desde los finos pelos que cubren los cuerpos de las orugas, hacia el intruso. Esta irritante no es muy diferente a la quemadura de ortigas, inicialmente, aunque algunas personas tienen una reacción alérgica alta y pueden necesitar tratamiento médico.

En el caso de los bebés y los perros este veneno puede ser fatal. Los nidos de esta oruga, al estar lleno de este irritante, las personas que trabajan o que pasan por debajo de los árboles con nidos pueden notar, como mínimo, una ligera irritación ocular y/o problemas respiratorios

debido al polvo flotando en el aire. ¡Algunas personas han perdido un ojo y algunas animales han fallecido debido al efecto de este toxico, en los casos de un contacto más intenso!

El mejor consejo para evitar problemas con ellos será mantenerse alejado de ellos y sus nidos, si usted tiene un árbol de pino con un nido debe buscar la ayuda de un profesional.

Time to remember the procession caterpillars, Thaumetopoea pityocampa, as they are coming out again, as the weather warms up and Spring approaches. These caterpillars are

starting to come down from their nests in pine trees now or you may not see them until April depending upon where you are. The main thing to remember is to be on the lookout and to be careful. Keep your pets away and do not try to handle them. The white hairs are covered with and contain a very strong irritating toxic substance.

This marching off in lines is a protective strategy giving the impression of a snake to deter would-be predators, birds for example.

If any part of the caterpillar train is disturbed a message is

sent to everybody on board and an irritant is released from the fine hairs covering the caterpillars’ bodies towards the intruder. This irritant is not initially dissimilar to the burn of stinging nettles but it is much more noxious, some people have a severe reaction and may need medical treatment.

In the case of young babies and dogs this irritant can be fatal. The nests themselves are full of this irritant, individuals working or passing underneath trees with nests may notice mild to severe eye irritations and/or respiratory problems, in the mildest of cases due to slight irritation from the powder drifting through the air. People have lost an eye and animals have died in cases of more severe exposure!

The best advice to avoid problems with them stay away from them and their nests, if you have a pine tree with a nest seek out the help of a professional.

Fraude Eléctrico fluidos eléctricos y análogos, disponiendo que: 1. Será castigado con la pena de multa de tres a doce meses el que cometiere defraudación utilizando energía eléctrica, gas, agua, telecomunicaciones u otro elemento, energía o fluido ajenos, por alguno de los medios siguientes:

Hoy en día, por desgracia, es cada vez frecuente encontrar noticias sobre fraude eléctrico. La crisis y el aumento de los recibos de luz del recibo de la luz promueven que muchas personas cometan estafas relacionadas con el consumo de energía eléctrica.

Dicha estafa está regulada en nuestro Código Penal en su artículo 255 en el apartado sobre defraudaciones de

que si le cayera una multa de 90 días al defraudador a razón de 10 euros el día, tendría que pagar 900 euros de multa.

Ahora bien, si el defraudador no paga la multa, nuestro código penal establece que se sustituya la pena de multa por un día de prisión por cada dos días de impago de multa, es decir, para nuestro ejemplo de 90 días de multa, le corresponderían 45 días de prisión para el caso de que no pagase la multa.

Por lo tanto, si presentamos una acto de fraude eléctrico, se puede presentar denuncia ante el juzgado de guardia, policía nacional o guardia civil (donde no haya comisaría de policía), indicando concretamente nombre, apellidos, dni y domicilio a efecto de notificaciones del testigo y todos los datos que conozcamos de infractor, así como cualquier otro documento que nos pueda ayudar a investigar el delito (foto del lugar, informe de un técnico, etc.).

Electricity Fraud Unfortunately, nowadays, it is increasingly common to find news about electricity fraud. The crisis and the rising cost of electricity encourage people to commit fraud related to the consumption of electric energy.

This type of fraud is regulated in the Spanish Penal Code, Article 255 in the section on electricity fraud or similar fluids.

Stipulating that 1. Punishable with a fine of three to twelve months whoever commits fraud using electric power, gas, water, telecommunications or other item, energy or external current by any of the following means:

a. Making use of installed mechanisms to commit fraud. b. Maliciously altering information or the meter. c. By any other means 2. If the amount defrauded does not exceed 400 euros, a fine of one to three months will be imposed.

In this sense, the most common fines are usually at the rate of 8 or 10 euros per day. So if you receive a fine of 90 days at 10 euros per day, you will have to pay 900 euros.

If the fraudster does not pay the fine,

the penal code states that the fine will be replace by one day in prison for every two days of the unpaid fine, that is, for our example of 90 days, the fraudster would spend 45 days in jail for not paying the fine.

Therefore, if you witness an act of electricity fraud, you can report it to the police, the court, national police or civil guard (where there is no police station), indicating your name, surname, ID number and address for notifications of witnesses and all the data about the offender(s) and any other document which may help us to investigate the offense (photo of the place, a technical report, etc.).

Campaña para fomentar el padrón en Manilva

Te recordamos que como ciudadano de Manilva has de empadronarte en la ciudad en que vives o trabajas, así como comunicar los cambios de domicilio que lleves a cabo.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha iniciado una campaña informativa para que los ciudadanos se empadronen en el municipio, lo que les reportará “importantes beneficios”, según el concejal de Estadísticas, Marcos Ruiz. El edil recordó que los ciudadanos que se empadronen en el municipio podrán optar a ayudas en impuestos públicos como el IBI, así como inscribirse en cursos, talleres y actividades municipales. También podrán matricular a sus hijos en los colegios públicos, obtener certificados de residencia, seguridad social o ayudas económicas y sociales.

Estar empadronado también da derecho a votar en periodos electorales, optar a ayudas por desempleo, darse de alta como autónomo o formalizar matrimonios civiles.

Además, tienes que recordar que en función de los que estemos empadronados, así recibiremos recursos económicos de Diputación y del Estado. Tu presencia sí es importante para todos; de ello dependen nuestras escuelas, centros de salud, carreteras, hospitales, juzgados, y un largo etc.

Los interesados en darse de alta en el Padrón Municipal deberán dirigirse a las oficinas situadas en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva o en la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Sabinillas.

Según los últimos datos municipales, de los 14.800 habitantes de Manilva, algo más de 6.700 son extranjeros, de los que casi 3.000 son británicos. La mayoría figuran como residentes, puesto que el empadronamiento no implica perder derechos en el país de origen.

Ayuda a que tu ciudad crezca. Es un deber ciudadano. ¡Empadrónate!

Padron registration campaign The Manilva Town Hall would like to remind residents that they are required to register on the Padron of the municipality in which they reside, and to report any change of address.

To this end the Councillor for Statistics, Marcos Ruiz, has initiated an information campaign not only to stress your responsibilities but also the significant benefits of registration.

These benefits include discounts for IBI, as well as elegibility for local classes, workshops and other municipal activities. Registrations allows residents to enroll their children in local schools, obtain certificates of residence, social security and social or economic aid.

Being registered also entitles you to vote in local and European elections, obtain unemployment benefits, register as self-employed or get married.

It should also be considered that the size of the registered population governs the amount of economic resources allocated by the State, including schools, health centres, etc.

The current census reports some 14,800 residents in Manilva, with 6,700 being foreigners of which almost 3,000 are British. Registration does not affect your status in your country of origin so help yourself and your fellow citizens by registering now, it’s your civic duty.

A New Year but an Old You?????

It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly February already, I wonder how many of you have already scrapped your NY resolution for getting, lean, fit, strong and healthy.

My experience tells me that people start off super motivated but by the end of Jan; they have run out of ideas for creating healthy meals, or the energy to attend the 1 hr session at the gym or just having a bad day in general and based on that jack in all efforts for being healthier.

Today is a new day, a new year, a new start. Whatever crappy things happened yesterday or last year or even the last decade…Forget about them, 1 bad day of eating or 1 missed session doesn’t need to be that you scrap the whole trying to be healthier program.

From experience, people tend to set their goals to big and normally too many of them. Making our goals more realistic makes them easier to achieve.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.”

So, this month’s article is about making small changes that can have big positive results.

Clean eating This 1 change will have the biggest effect on the health of your body.

I once read a quote, ‘there is no such thing as unhealthy natural produce, only labels on packets turn produce into food and then it becomes unhealthy’.

This is so true, the one change that we can all make is not to buy any food group that is processed, buy fresh seasonal produce and cook meals from scratch. Bake your own bread, don’t eat pies, cakes and pasties, NEVER drink fizzy soda drinks, make pizza, curry from scratch, eat fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, drink water, eat clean non processed meat and fish, reduce alcohol, make your own soups and sauces, vary what you eat, aim to try one new food item per week and of course the BIG one, learn to eat less.

This will seriously reduce all the ‘baddies’ from your diet, knowing what you are eating is an amazing learning curve. And, then by being very conscious of your sugar intake, you can very quickly become healthier and definitely leaner with less body fat.

Moving More Not everyone is a coach potato but nearly all of us can be more active.

The body needs to get hot and sweaty to help clean out toxins, increasing the heart rate is good for the heart, at the end of the day, it is a muscle, just like your abs or your glutes, without stimulation it can become lazy and unfit, the same with the lungs and to some degree the brain.

When we exercise we release endorphins, which is a ‘feel good’ hormone, this can really help us cope with our day to day life.

Developing muscle assists the body, relying on the joints for movement is not enough, muscle helps support the body frame, and doesn’t wear out as quickly as bone, muscle also helps the body burn fat and people with more muscle mass tend to be healthier, as well as looking good.

So, doing a workout that stimulates both muscle development and gets the heart beating faster is the perfect combination.

So, if you are not currently getting hot and sweaty on a regular basis or get stressed by trying to ‘fit in’ 3 x 1 hr sessions at the gym per week, trying combining these exercises into a mini circuit, aiming to get hot and sweaty and keep it up for 15 mins 3 to 4 times a week. You can do them anywhere, and mail me when you can do them easily and I can send you the next level of exercises.

Warm up by doing a brisk walk for approx. 5 mins, around the block, or up and down the stairs.

In fact anywhere, as long as you get warm.

La Ruta de la Poesía incorpora un monolito en honor a la Virgen del Carmen por su 25º aniversario La Ruta de la Poesía, la iniciativa cultural impulsada por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona que cuenta ya con casi una veintena de obras repartidas por distintos rincones remodelados del casco urbano, ha incorporado a su trayecto un monolito con un poema en honor a la Virgen del Carmen, con motivo del 25º de su nombramiento como Alcaldesa Mayor de Estepona. La composición es obra del cofrade de la localidad Miguel Chacón.

El autor ensalza en esta oda la

figura de la Virgen del Carmen, su importancia en la vida de los esteponeros y su papel como Patrona y Alcaldesa de la ciudad.

Asimismo, Chacón ha sido también el creador de los versos que se pueden leer en la capilla que se ubica en el barrio de los Pescadores y dio voz el pasado mes de octubre al pregón que conmemoró el 25º aniversario del nombramiento de la Virgen del Carmen como Patrona de Estepona.

La obra ha sido plasmado en una

composición de azulejos y ha sido colocada sobre un monolito de un metro de altura, que el Consistorio ha colocado en un lugar privilegiado frente al mar, concretamente, en una zona ajardina del Paseo Marítimo situada frente a la rotonda de la Unión Europea. Hay que recordar que el Ayuntamiento adoptó en abril del pasado año un acuerdo por el que se nombraba a la virgen del Carmen Alcaldesa Perpetua de Estepona.
