Comienza la Semana Santa y la primavera. Para esta comarca de la Costa del Sol Occidental es casi el inicio de la temporada alta. Los restaurantes que han estado cerrados en invierno abren sus puertas y los hoteles del entorno empiezan a recibir cada vez más viajeros. Hay muchas más horas de Sol y los vecinos y visitantes comienzan a llenar paulatinamente las calles de los municipios, los paseos marítimos y las playas. Es el preludio de un verano que, por fortuna para la economía de la zona, se prolonga por algo más de seis meses.

Pero este año este inicio de la alegría que provoca el buen tiempo viene acompañada de otro tipo de alegría.

Las instituciones están felices. Tras las elecciones para elegir al nuevo gobierno de la Junta de Andalucía, tocan ahora las elecciones municipales. Aún faltan dos meses largos pero es momento de ‘vender’ lo bueno que se ha hecho en la administración local por los partidos que han gobernado; y de hacer propuestas y promesas para mejorar la situación de los municipios. Es temporada ‘alta’ para pedir actuaciones en una barriada, en una zona comercial o mejores accesos para determinado emplazamiento. Los partidos, en precampaña o campaña, tienden a estar más receptivos para atender las peticiones de los ciudadanos; y los ciudadanos tienen que aprovechar esta circunstancia.

En definitiva, se espera que durante los próximos meses el buen tiempo en lo meteorológico choque en algo con un buen tiempo en la política. Es tiempo de elecciones, tenemos temporada alta para todos.

Once again Easter is upon us and with it comes the pomp and ceremony of the Semana Santa religious processions which are held in villages, towns, and cities across Spain.

Here in our region there is a busy programme of processions depicting the various elements of the Easter story. For full details, timings and routes visit our website at www.theresident. eu If you only get the chance to see one procession you should head to San Roque for their unique Good Friday ‘Gran Magna’ procession in which 14 individual ‘Tronos’ thrones are paraded through the streets, each with its attendant band and entourage.

Many of the San Roque ‘Tronos’ date back to the 17th and 18th century and were brought to San Roque when it was founded by the Spanish - former inhabitants of Gibraltar.

There is also plenty going on in our local towns with a whole host of official opening ceremonies taking place including Estepona’s new theatre, and the orchid house, along with the Sabinillas Sports Centre, etc., all of which have been timed to coincide with the lead up to the May elections, but which were unexpectedly held up due to the snap Andalucia regional elections last weekend. Spain’s strict electoral laws prevent campaigning politicians from gaining political capital from official town hall acts so there is a cut off period before the elections after which there can be no official inaugurations or presentations.

Talking of the local elections, over the next three issues of The Resident we will be introducing you to the various mayoral candidates and providing information on their manifestos.

Estepona inaugura el Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI, el mayor espacio escénico de la Costa del Sol

El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, y el presidente de la Diputación, Elías Bendodo, presidieron el acto protocolario 600 butacas en la sala principal, 90 en una sala anexa, un escenario de 225 metros cuadrados adaptado para todo tipo de espectáculos, 55.500 metros cuadrados de superficie construida, 5,7 millones de euros de inversión, de los que tres han sido aportados por la Diputación. Estas son las principales cifras del Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI inaugurado el pasado lunes 23 de marzo en Estepona por el alcalde de esta localidad, José María García Urbano, y el presidente de la Diputación Provincial, Elías Bendodo.

El acto protocolario tuvo lugar por la mañana, aunque fue por la tarde cuando se celebró el concierto inaugural que corrió a cargo de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga. Precisamente, y gracias a la gran acústica del

recinto, la música clásica será una de las grandes protagonistas de este recinto. Sin embargo, se programarán eventos de diversa índole, tanto en la sala principal, como en la auxiliar –que podrá ser utilizada también como local de ensayo- o en la Sala de Exposiciones en la que ya se puede disfrutar de la primera muestra que, patrocinada por el propio ayuntamiento y por la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol occidental, realiza un recorrido histórico desde 1925 hasta 2014 a través de fotografías de la Agencia EFE que recuerdan algunos de los acontecimientos más importantes del municipio. Así, los visitantes podrán contemplar instantáneas que recogen momentos como la liberación de Melodie Nackachian, la inauguración de la plaza de toros

con Luis Miguel Dominguín, la visita de los Reyes Don Juan Carlos y Doña Sofía al Congreso Internacional de Agencias de Noticias, o la visita de Michelle Obama entre otros hechos.

Durante la apertura, el alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, se mostró muy satisfecho porque este proyecto

se haya convertido en realidad.

“Estepona tiene, por fin, un espacio escénico a la altura de una ciudad tan importante dentro de la Costa del Sol que recibe miles de turistas durante todo el año y que, además, está en la zona de la influencia de Manilva, Benahavís, Marbella, Ojén, Istán, y Casares, con una población aproximada

de 500.000 personas, señaló García.

Por su parte, el presidente de la Diputación Provincial, Elías Bendodo, subrayó la importancia económica de esta infraestructura porque “la cultura crea riqueza ya que es turismo, empleo, noches de hotel, turismo urbano y consumo”.

Thus, visitors will be able to appreciate photos that have captured moments like the release of Melodie Nackachian, the inauguration of the bullring with Luis Miguel Dominguín, the visit of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia at the International Congress of News Agencies

and Michelle Obama’s visit, among other important events.

During the ceremony, the Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, expressed his pleasure that this project has become a reality. "Estepona finally has a performance area suitable for such an important town within the Costa del Sol, receiving thousands of tourists all year round and with easy access to Manilva, Marbella, Ojen, Istan and Casares, with a total population of 500,000 people between them.

The President of the Provincial Council, Elijah Bendodo, stressed the economic importance of this infrastructure, "culture creates wealth because it encourages tourism, employment, hotel stays, urban tourism and consumption".

El coste de cada acción formativa, valorada en 730 euros por alumno, será íntegramente subvencionada por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona, mediante la suscripción del oportuno convenio de colaboración con la Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona. Los interesados tienen que ser mayores de 16 años y no haber alcanzado la edad ordinaria de jubilación.

La acción formativa tendrá una duración de 282 horas y se prolongará durante un total de nueve semanas. La selección de los becados se llevará a cabo por la empresa contratista, en este caso la Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona, de entre aquellas solicitudes que se presenten dentro de

plazos. La dirección de la escuela realizará entrevistas personalizadas a los candidatos y el proceso vendrá informado de los principios de transparencia y publicidad. Los alumnos recibirán una formación, principalmente, práctica en el restaurante de la Escuela de Hostelería situado en el Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos. Además, el curso incidirá especialmente en la formación en inglés para que los alumnos puedan desenvolverse perfectamente en este idioma.

Los becados tendrán oportunidad, también, de incluirse dentro de la bolsa de trabajo de la escuela.

Una vez finalizada la oportuna acción formativa, el beneficiario dispondrá de un periodo de un año, desde la finalización de la misma, para la devolución al Ayuntamiento del importe de la beca, en caso de que haya obtenido puesto de trabajo en la ocupación objeto de formación, que se acreditará mediante informe de vida laboral. En caso de no haber obtenido en dicho plazo ocupación retribuida, dispondrá de un plazo adicional de seis meses para proceder a dicho reintegro. Ese dinero permitirá al Ayuntamiento volver a convocar nuevas becas para seguir fomentando en empleo en la ciudad.

stepona Town Hall has announced the launch of a training plan that will award 20 scholarships to those who wish to train as a waiter. This initiative has been developed as part of the agreement between the Town Hall and the Estepona Hospitality School for those who wish to train at this institution.

The cost of each training course, valued at 730 euros per student, will be fully subsidized by the Estepona town hall, having signed the appropriate agreement of collaboration with the Estepona Hospitality School. Candidates must be over 16 and not have reached retirement age.

If the beneficiaries have not been able to obtain a position in the field they will be given an additional 6 months in which to refund the cost of their training. That money will allow the town hall to provide subsidies for another round of students over the following year to further promote employment in the area.

El grupo sevillano Siempre Así consiguió reunir a más de 3.000 personas -según las estimaciones de la Policía Local- en el concierto gratuito, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona, dentro de la programación cultural de 'Estepona Vive sus Calles', con la que se pretende que vecinos y visitantes disfruten del remodelado casco antiguo de la ciudad, mediante más de una treintena de actividades culturales, gastronómicas y de ocio programadas durante el fin de semana. The popular Spanish pop group Siempre Asi performed live to an estimated audience of 3,000, according to police figures, in a free concert organised by the Estepona Town Hall as part of the ‘Estepona Vive sus Calles’ weekend of events and activities.

The concert was held in Calle Huerta Nueva and was one of over thirty events which included cultural, gastronomic and recreational activities which celebrate the remodelling and beautification of Estepona’s historic town centre.

El pintor del mural vertical más grande de El Ayuntamiento imparte el Taller España crea la primera obra que recubre al “Crecer y Educar en Familia” destinado a madres y padres completo un edificio en Estepona

Las sesiones tendrán lugar los martes, de 11:00 a 13:00 horas, en el Centro Cultural Padre Manuel hasta el 12 de mayo

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona, a través del Área de Servicios Sociales, Mujer, Mayores e Integración Social, organiza todos los martes por la mañana, hasta el 12 de mayo el taller “Crecer y Educar en Familia”, destinado a madres, padres y familiares de adolescentes, principalmente.

Esta actividad, de carácter semanal, se prolongará hasta el 12 de mayo, y consistirá en un espacio de encuentro e intercambio de experiencias. El objetivo será que cada participante pueda compartir e intercambiar experiencias y resolver dudas acerca de la educación de sus hijos, con el fin de mejorar las relaciones en el entorno familiar.

a Ruta de Murales Artísticos incorpora por primera vez una obra que recubrirá al completo un inmueble. En concreto, se trata de un mural que ocupará las cuatro fachadas de un edificio situado en el centro de educación infantil y primaria Víctor de la Serna, que está siendo realizado por el artista jienense José Fernández Ríos, según ha informado el Ayuntamiento de Este-

pona en un comunicado.

En esta ocasión, el pintor representará con estilo hiperrealista a un jardinero que está cuidando una buganvilla que se extiende por las cuatro caras del inmueble. El mural, que tendrá una superficie de 300 metros cuadrados, busca el efecto visual de “la confusión”, ya que los viandantes podrán tener la impresión de que el jardinero es una persona

real, según ha indicado el artista. Además, ha querido que las flores sean protagonistas de este nuevo mural por su proximidad con el Parque Central.

La nueva obra, que comenzó a dibujarse con esmalte sintético hace dos semanas, estará finalizada en los próximos días y se convertirá en la número 24 de la Ruta de Murales Artísticos de Estepona.

Council holds workshop on "Educating and Growing as a Family" aimed at parents Sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm in the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre until May 12 Estepona Town Hall, through the Social Services, Women, Senior Citizens and Social Integration Services Department, have organized the "Educate and Grow as a Family" workshop which will take place every Tuesday morning, until May 12, and is mainly aimed at mothers, fathers and families of adolescents.

This weekly activity will consist of a meeting and exchange of experiences. The goal is for each participant to share and exchange experiences and answer questions about the education of their children in order to improve relations

in the family.

They will explore different topics of interest such as changes in adolescence, parenting styles, how to improve communication with their children, motivation, respect, self-esteem, rules and boundaries, conflict resolution, how to treat drug information, etc.

The sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm in the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre, with the person in charge specializing in this field.

This exhibition, according to the Training, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT) councillor, Ana Velasco, "will become one of the most interesting places in the province of Málaga".

Besides orchids, the museum has 200 square metres of vertical gardens achieved on 12 metre high wall, where the plants have been distributed over five different heights. This design will allow them to climb naturally as they grow into patterns that will astonish the visitor.

Together with the always striking orchids, the Vanilla can be seen,

a climber from which this culinary product can be extracted. The Botanic Park also has a large number of other species so that visitors can enjoy a great experience with nature. The 'Cananga odorata', known as Ylang Ylang, a very famous flower among perfumers of high end cosmetics and used by brands like Dior or Chanel in their fragrances, is sandwiched with others such as 'Bixa Orellana', originally from Peru and also widely used in the cosmetic industry, in this case to make lipsticks.

As well as orchids and other exotic plants, visitors can enjoy a bamboo forest or a waterfall in the Botanical Park, all giving continuity to the 'Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol' project which has allowed the remodelling and beautifying of over 68 town streets nearby.

The town council has created 150 free parking spaces alongside the Estepona Botanical-Orquidario Park, which is not only beneficial to visitors of this attraction, but also allows residents in the area to enjoy improved mobility.

All in all, the new Estepona Orquidario Botanical Park is destined to soon become a symbol of the growth of Estepona and of all the Costa del Sol.

El Orquidario de Estepona ya es una realidad. Tras meses de intensos trabajos, este sábado 28 de marzo ha abierto sus puertas un espacio de 1.000 metros cuadrados de superficie sobre los cuales 15.000 metros cúbicos de volumen albergan una impresionante colección de especies de flora de distintos puntos de La Tierra.

Considerado como uno de los orquidearios más importantes de España, el nuevo Parque Botánico espera recibir unos 100.000 visitantes cada año.

Poco a poco los vecinos de Estepona han visto como la tres grandes cúpulas acristaladas que cubren este espectacular espacio se iban alzando para dar cabida en su interior a miles de orquídeas llegadas de distintos puntos del planeta. El Parque Botánico Orquidario es una apuesta del Ayuntamiento de Estepona para complementar la oferta de sol y playa que la localidad ofrece a los miles de turistas que visitan la Costa del Sol cada año.

Este recinto, según explica la concejal de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Turismo (FIT), Ana Velasco, “se convertirá en uno de los equipamientos más interesantes de la provincia de Málaga”. Además de las orquídeas, el recinto cuenta con 200 metros cuadrados de jardines verticales ejecutados sobre una pared de 12 metros altura, en la que las plantas se han ido distribuyendo en cinco alturas distintas. Este diseño permitirá que conforme vayan creciendo, las mismas treparán de forma natural formando dibujos que asombrarán al visitante.

Junto a la siempre llamativas orquídeas –entre las que se podrán ver la vainilla, un ejemplar trepador del que se extrae ese producto culinario- el Parque Botánico también cuenta con un importante número de otras especies para que el visitante disfrute de una gran experiencia relacionada con la naturaleza. La ‘Cananga Odorata’, conocida como Ylan Ylan, una flor muy famosa entre los perfumistas de alta cosmética y usada por marcas como Dior o Chanel en sus fragancias; se intercala con otras como la ‘Bixa Orellana’, originaria de Perú y también muy utilizada en la industria cosmética, en este caso para fabricar barras de labios.

Pero también, además de orquídeas y otras exóticas plantas, el visitante podrá disfrutar de un bosque de bambú o de una gran cascada en el interior del recinto, todo para dar continuidad al proyecto ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol’ que, muy cerca, ha permitido remodelar y embellecer más de 68 calles del municipio.

Junto al Parque Botánico-Orquidario de Estepona, el ayuntamiento de la localidad ha creado 150 plazas de aparcamientos gratuitos, circunstancia que no sólo beneficia a los visitantes de este espacio, sino que permite a los vecino disfrutar de una mejora de la movilidad en el entorno.

Con todo ello, el nuevo Parque Botánico-Orquidario de Estepona está llamado a convertirse en poco tiempo en un símbolo del crecimiento de Estepona y de toda la Costa del Sol.

Comienzan las obras de ampliación del colegio Juan XXIII, que acogerá a 800 alumnos

del Día Internacional de la Mujer, celebrado en la plaza Begines

La Fundación Diocesana Santa María de la Victoria ha comenzado las obras de construcción de la segunda fase del colegio Juan XXIII, donde se impartirán clases de secundaria y bachillerato.

Los trabajos de esta segunda fase de construcción del colegio Juan XXIII contemplan la creación de un módulo con ocho aulas para Bachillerato, una piscina al aire libre, un polideportivo cubierto y una capilla. Además, también se construirán pistas deportivas exteriores, despachos para el personal y almacenes para el material del centro. Las nuevas instalaciones, que ocupan una superficie de 5.000 metros cuadrados, estarán concluidas para noviembre de 2015 y los alumnos podrán matricularse para el curso 2016-2017. En la actualidad hay matriculados en el centro un total de 170 alumnos, pero cuando terminen las obras de ampliación del centro podrán matricularse alrededor de 800

El convenio rubricado entre las tres partes establecía que la Fundación Diocesana debía adquirir los terrenos de la actual Cooperativa Agrícola para que pasasen a ser de titularidad municipal. En los citados terrenos el Consistorio está ejecutando el 'Orquidario', que se convertirá en un gran equipamiento situado en pleno casco urbano.

Amplían el carril bici con un nuevo tramo que discurrirá por la avenida Juan Carlos I Los vecinos de Estepona dispondrán de un nuevo tramo de carril bici que recorrerá una de las principales avenidas de la ciudad. Este tramo tendrá una longitud de 1.450 metros y discurrirá por la avenida Juan Carlos I desde la rotonda de la gasolinera BP hasta el enlace con la avenida de España. La novedad de este tramo reside en que será un carril compartido por

vehículos y ciclistas, tendiendo la prioridad estos últimos. Para ello se utilizará el carril derecho de la avenida y la velocidad de los vehículos se limitará en dicho carril a 30 kilómetros/hora.

Los trabajos consistirán en realizar unas marcas en el pavimento del carril indicando el símbolo del ciclista y en la instalación de señales verticales que advierten del carril bici

compartido con prioridad para los ciclistas. Las tareas comenzarán una vez que se haya terminado con la colocación del nuevo aglomerado en la calzada que se está ejecutando en estas semanas dentro del II Plan de Asfaltado Municipal.

Los trabajos de señalización del carril bici tendrán una duración aproximada de una semana.

Las I Jornadas Gastronómicas están organizadas por empresarios locales con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento, y tiene como objeto promocionar productos típicos como el chivo -que se sirve cocinado de múltiples formas en los establecimientos de restauración-, el queso de cabra payoya -fabricado de forma artesanal por Quesería Sierra Crestellina con varios

premios en su haber-, el pan de Casares cocido en horno de leña con gran fama en toda la Costa del Sol, o la exquisita chacina que elaboran las carnicería locales.

La iniciativa pretende atraer a centenares de visitantes a comer o tapear en la localidad. Por este motivo, los establecimientos locales preparan atractivos menús, y la oferta se completa con un amplio programa de actividades para pasar un fin de semana inolvidable en Casares.

Entre las acciones previstas se encuentra una Ruta interpretativa por los alrededores de Casares y su Castillo; la inauguración de la llamada Ruta de los Callejones; la interpretación del libro ‘Cocina Andaluza Para Recitar’, conciertos y talleres sobre elaboración de quesos y sobre el Fandango Casareño. Casares celebrates its I Gastronomy Days on 18 and 19 April

pecial menus in restaurants and bars of the town, local food products in the town’s shops, sightseeing tours, workshops, lectures and stands promoting local products make up the programme of activities of the I Casares Gastronomy Days to be held on 18 and 19 April in the historic town centre, a space that will be the focus of attention in the region during these days.

The I Gastronomy Days are organized by local businesses with the support of the Town Hall, and are intended to promote local products like goat which is served cooked in many ways in the local restaurants, the payoya goat cheese - handmade by the Quesería Sierra Crestellina cheese company, which already has several awards under its belt,

Casares bread baked in wood oven is famous throughout the Costa del Sol, or the exquisite chacina produced by the local butchers.

The initiative aims to attract hundreds of visitors to lunch or tapas in town. For this reason, local establishments will prepare attractive menus, and all this is complemented with a wide range of activities to spend a memorable weekend in Casares.

Among the activities are guided walks around Casares and its Castle; with the inauguration of the Ruta de Callejones, an urban hike; the launch of an Andalucian Cookbook, concerts and workshops on cheesemaking and the Fandango Casareño.

El programa ‘Pinta una sonrisa en tu fachá’ ‘Paint a Smile on your Facade’ competition brightens the inunda de originalidad las calles de Casares La Iniciativa tiene como objetivo potenciar el embellecimiento de las calles del casco histórico de Casares con macetas y plantas con la ayuda de los vecinos.

Surgió de la Mesa de Participación Ciudadana y se ha puesto en marcha con la colaboración del Ayuntamiento que ha adquirido más de 250 macetas y plantas para los más de 60 vecinos que participan.

Cerrado el plazo de inscripción desde el ayuntamiento se están colocando las macetas en las fachadas, balcones o callejones de las viviendas que lo han solicitado –cuatro por participantes- y que previamente se han comprometido a cuidar estas plantas.

El programa que se ha llamado ‘Pinta una sonrisa en tu fachá’ está siendo coordinando de forma desinteresada por la vecina de Casares, María Valadez. Se ha establecido la distribución del casco histórico en cuatro zonas: Ruta Árabe por las calles Villa, Arrabal, Pepe Largo y Recinto del Castillo; Ruta Artística por la calle Copera y Llano de la Fuente; Ruta Mediterránea que abarca las calles Fuente, Juan Cerón y Mazmorrilla; y la Ruta Andaluza que son las calles Montes, Barrio Bajo, Barrio Alto, Carrera y Camachas.

El programa se complementa con el I Concurso de Municipal de Callejones y Fachadas que se celebrará los días 18 y 19 de abril, coincidiendo con las Jornadas Gastronómicas. Para facilitar la visita de estas rutas desde el Ayuntamiento se está imprimiendo un callejero con los recorridos de las cuatro rutas y la ubicación de los participantes.

Podrán participar en el concurso todos los vecinos y vecinas del casco histórico de Casares que lo deseen, cuyos callejones y fachadas estén decorados con flores del tiempo, en arriates o

macetas. El plazo de inscripción será del 6 el al 10 de abril en el Ayuntamiento de Casares.

Para elegir a los ganadores el jurado valorará la calidad, los aspectos artísticos y ornamentales que representan su carácter tradicional, variedad floral, cantidad, cuidado de macetas, arriates y plantas, elementos arquitectónicos, nivel de implicación y convivencia vecinal…

Dentro del concurso se han establecido tres premios que constarán de placas acreditativas y productos de jardinería. Uno lo otorga el público y dos del jurado que estará compuesto por personas relacionadas con sectores asociativo, turístico y cultural del municipio.

Casares tendrá sus playas acondicionadas para la llegada de turistas durante la Semana Santa Las principales novedades serán la instalación de nuevas zonas de sombra y acceso para los minusválidos El Ayuntamiento de Casares ha realizado una limpieza integral de sus 2,2 kilómetros de playas para que puedan ser utilizadas por vecinos y visitantes ante las previsiones de buen tiempo de cara a las vacaciones de Semana Santa.

Paralelamente desde el consistorio se prepara la ordenación del mobiliario de playa, aunque su instalación se retrasará para prevenir daños que se puedan producir por los temporales que aún puedan sucederse antes del verano, como ha ocurrido en primaveras anteriores.

De cara a la nueva temporada también han comenzado a ejecutarse los accesos a las playas para minusválidos del municipio, adaptando nueve entradas al paseo marítimo desde los viales que llegan a la Costa.

Dentro de este proyecto se está

aconcidionando un tramo de seis metros del firme entre el paseo de Playa Chica y el que continúa hasta la Torre de la Sal. Desde la Concejalía de Medio Natural y Playas se están ultimando también los detalles del Plan de Playas para su traslado a la Consejería de Medio Ambiente.

En el mismo se incluyen los servicios privados y públicos que se instalarán en las playas.

En cuanto a las instalaciones municipales para esta temporada serán novedad dos zonas de sombra de 36 metros cuadrados en Playa Ancha, que completan las zonas deportivas para la práctica vóley-playa, fútbol-playa y petanca. Estas instalaciones completan el mobiliario de playas compuesto de pasarelas, módulos de servicio, torres de vigilancia y puestos de socorro.

En este sentido, el Ayuntamiento

prepara el proceso de adjudicación del servicio de vigilancia y socorrismo que presta en sus playas durante la temporada alta.

Asimismo, también se ofrecerá un servicio exclusivo de las playas del municipio: la Biblio-Playa, que realiza un servicio de préstamo de libros y revistas a los usuarios de playa desde la caseta de información.

El plan de playas también incluye el servicio de limpieza de playas y recogida de basura de islas ecológicas y papeleras, que se realizará a diario durante toda la temporada y a primera hora de la mañana para no molestar a los usuarios, además del balizamiento de las zonas de baño y la instalación de las vías de entradas de embarcaciones, que se realiza al igual que en toda la costa de forma coordinada a través de Mancomunidad.

The Initiative aims to enhance the beautification of the streets of the historic centre of Casares with pots and plants with the help of local residents. The idea originated in the Office of Public Participation and has been launched in collaboration with the Town Hall which has acquired more than 250 pots and plants for the more than 60 locals involved.

Having closed the application period the council are mounting the pots on the facades, balconies and streets of the households that have requested them. Participants receive four pots which they have committed to care for.

The scheme has focussed on four distinct areas: The Arabic Route through the streets Villa, Arrabal, Pepe Largo and the Castle surroundings; The Artist Route through Copera y Llano de la Fuente; The Mediterranean Route covering the streets Fuente, Juan Ceron and Mazmorrilla; and The Andalucian Road in Calles Montes, Barrio Bajo, Barrio Alto, Carrera and Camachas.

Each route features a different style

of pots, some are already painted and others have been decorated in workshops by adults and schoolchildren in the municipality.

The programme is complemented by the I Municipal Streets and Facades Contest to be held on 18 and 19 April, coinciding with the Gastronomy Days. To help visitors enjoy these routes the Town Hall is printing a guide with tours of the four routes and the location of the participants.

Any resident of Casares town centre whose alleys and facades are decorated with seasonal flowers in beds or in pots may participate. The registration period is open from April 6 to 10 in the Casares Town Hall.

The winners will be chosen by a jury who will assess the quality, artistic and ornamental aspects representing its traditional character, floral variety, quantity, maintenance of the pots, flower beds and plants, architectural elements, etc.

There are three prizes including plaques and garden products. One is awarded by the public and two by the jury, which will be composed of persons involved with the tourism and cultural sectors of the municipality.

The Beaches of Casares will be ready for Easter The Casares town hall has undertaken the comprehensive cleaning of its 2.2 miles of beaches available for the enjoyment of residents and visitors during the forecasted good weather ahead of the Easter holidays.

The beach equipment and facilities are also being prepared, but installation will be delayed to prevent damage that may occur during storms that may still come before the summer, as has happened in previous Springs.

Looking ahead to the new season they have also started the development of disabled access to the beaches, with nine new adapted entrances from the promenade. The project also encompasses the adaptation of six meters of the promenade between Paseo de Playa Chica and the Torre de la Sal. The Department of Natural Environment and Beaches are also finalizing the details of the Beach Plan for it’s transfer to the Ministry of Environment, in which private

and public services to be installed on the beaches is included.

As for the novel municipal facilities for this season there will be two new 36 square metre shaded areas in Playa Ancha, which will complement the beach volleyball, beach football and bocce facilities.

These will be added to the current pathways, service modules, watchtowers and aid stations.

The town hall is also preparing the adjudication of the lifeguard services provided on its beaches during the high season. There is also a Beach Library service unique to the area loaning out books and magazines to beach goers from the information hut.

The plan also includes cleaning and refuse collection services, carried out daily throughout the season and first thing in the morning so as not to disturb users, as well as the division of bathing areas and boat lanes using buoys, which is coordinated by the Association of Municipalities along the whole of the coast.

Casares: escenario ideal para disfrutar de la Semana Santa La belleza y peculiaridad de las calles de Casares hacen de la localidad un lugar característico para disfrutar de las tradiciones de Semana Santa.

Para estos días de recogimiento la Hermandad de Nuestras Señora del Rosario del Campo en colaboración con la parroquia de la localidad y el Ayuntamiento han preparado un programa religioso sobrio, pero muy completo, que hacen del municipio un lugar muy especial para pasar estas vacaciones.

El Viernes de Dolores, a las 18:30 horas, se celebrará una misa en honor de la Virgen de los Dolores en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación. El Domingo de Ramos por la mañana, tras la bendición de las palmas, comenzará la tradicional procesión. El Miércoles Santo, a las 21:00 horas, tendrá lugar la misa en la capilla de San Sebastián, y posteriormente el Vía Crucis que recorrerá las calles Villa, Castillo y Arrabal.

Las procesiones comienzan el Jueves Santo con la del Cristo de Medinaceli, tras la celebración de los Santos Oficios a las 18:00 horas.

El Viernes Santos procecesiona el Santo Sepulcro y la Virgen de los Dolores, acompañada de banda de música. La estación de penitencia se iniciará a las 21:00 horas.

El Domingo de Resurrección se cierra la Semana Santa con la procesión del Resucitado y la Virgen de los Dolores. Cada imagen partirá de distintos puntos hasta encontrarse en la Plaza de España pasado el mediodía.

The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Rosario del Campo in collaboration with the local town council have prepared a programme of solemn religious celebrations to mark the Easter story.

Beginning on Friday 27 March at 6.30 pm there will be a Holy Mass celebrated in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores in the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación church. On Sunday 29 March, Palm Sunday, there is the traditional blessing of the palms followed by a procession. On Holy

Wednesday, there is a Mass at the San Sebastian Chapel followed by the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) procession in Calles Villa, Castillo and Arrabal.

The processions begin on Holy Thursday with the Cristo de Medinaceli, following the celebration of Santos Oficios at 6 pm. Good Friday sees the processions of the Santo Sepulcro and the Virgen de los Dolores from 9 pm.

The programme ends on Easter Sunday with the processions of Jesús Resucitado and La Virgen De Los Dolores from 1 pm which each follow a different route before finally meeting in Plaza de España.

Comienza el Plan de Participación Ciudadana de Casares 2015 El Ayuntamiento de Casares vuelve a poner en marcha su programa de participación ciudadana con el objeto de animar y facilitar la participación de los vecinos, asociaciones y colectivos locales. El teniente de alcalde y concejal de Participación, Pepe Carrasco, señalaba recientemente que se trata de dar continuidad al trabajo que viene realizando el equipo de gobierno incorporando cada vez más las opiniones de todos los vecinos para hacer un municipio mejor.

El principal objetivo este año es reforzar las iniciativas que surgieron en el plan anterior y realizar otras nuevas que se van a llevar a cabo en estos meses.

La primera actividad del Plan de Participación Ciudadana 2015 será una mesa de participación a la que se van a convocar a todos los jóvenes del pueblo para que decidan y prioricen el equipamiento de ocio de la nueva Casa de la Juventud. Para ello la Concejalía de Juventud ha liberado un presupuesto de 5.000€. Los participantes de la mesa harán una visita a las nuevas instalaciones donde se repartirá una hoja de propuestas para que puedan expresar sus preferencias.

También se va a poner en marcha el I Encuentro de Asociaciones Locales para la difusión de las actuaciones y proyectos que llevan a cabo los colectivos.

Esta idea surgió el año pasado como una demanda de varios vecinos para crear un espacio de encuentro e intercambio entre el movimiento asociativo y los vecinos de Casares.

Está previsto que el evento se celebre en el nuevo Centro Municipal de Asociaciones y durante el mismo se verá cómo se va a regular su uso, según las necesidades de cada una de las asociaciones.

Otras de las iniciativas del plan 2015 serán el I Concurso de Callejones Andaluces y las I Jornadas Gastronómicas de Casares, dos proyectos que surgieron de la mesa de participación de turismo celebrada el año pasado, así como la propuesta de reforzar el encuentro de empresarios locales para plantear nuevas iniciativas.

Para coordinar y dinamizar el plan de participación el Ayuntamiento de Casares ha contratado durante tres meses a una técnico gracias a una subvención de la Dirección General de Derechos de Ciudadanía, Participación y Voluntariado de la Junta de Andalucía.

The 2015 Casares Citizen Participation Plan Begins The Casares town hall has begun, once again, to implement its programme of citizen participation in order to encourage and facilitate the participation of residents and local associations and groups.

The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Participation, Pepe Carrasco, recently stated that the work being carried out by the government team to increasingly incorporate the views of all those who reside in the municipality will continue.

The main goal this year is to strengthen initiatives that emerged over the previous year and create new ones which will be carried out over the coming months.

The first act of the 2015 Citizen Participation Plan will be to convene a participatory meeting with all the young people in the municipality to help decide on and prioritize the leisure facilities

which will be incorporated in the new Youth Centre. The Concejalía de Juventud has released a budget of € 5,000 for this purpose.

Participants in the meeting will visit the new facilities where they will be given a form to express their proposals.

The first Meeting of Associations will also be launched for the dissemination of activities and projects carried out by these collectives. This idea emerged last year when several residents requested a space of encounter and exchange between the associations and the people of Casares.

The event will take place at the new Centre for Associations and is expected to cover the ground rules for its use, as required by each of the associations.

Other initiatives of the 2015 plan are

the I Andalucian Alley Competition and the I Casares Gastronomy Days, two projects that emerged from the meetings involving tourism held last year, together with the proposal to encourage local entrepreneurs to get together to propose new initiatives.

Councillor Pepe Carrasco would like to encourage all residents of the three urban centres of Casares to participate in the 2015 Plan. The mayor asks for the contribution of ideas and requests to aid the improvement of the town with everyone’s help.

To coordinate and streamline the plan the town hall has hired a technician for three months with a grant from the Dirección General de Derechos de Ciudadanía, Participación y Voluntariado of the Junta de Andalucía.

El Ayuntamiento prepara la apertura del nuevo Centro de Asociaciones Durante las Jornadas de Asociaciones, previstas para el 25 de abril, se prevé sentar las bases para su uso

El nuevo Centro Municipal de Asociaciones, ubicado en la planta primera del edificio del Antiguo Colegio, de la Plaza Marcelino Camacho, cuenta con cuatro oficinas y una sala de reuniones con capacidad para más de medio centenar de personas.

La reforma y adaptación de este local ha sido realizado por el Ayuntamiento de Casares con sus propios medios con el objeto de ofrecer unas instalaciones que venían demandando las asociaciones locales para ser utilizadas como sede con el fin de, entre otras cuestiones, poder celebrar las reuniones de socios.

El local, según explicó el

teniente de alcalde y delegado de Participación Ciudadana, Pepe Carrasco, cuenta con un emplazamiento muy céntrico, con facilidades para aparcar y cumple todas las normas de accesibilidad.

Ahora desde el Ayuntamiento se prepara el I Encuentro de Asociaciones Locales, que previsiblemente se celebrará el próximo 25 de abril. Esta jornada servirá para que los diferentes colectivos pongan en común sus actividades y se prevé que durante la misma se puedan sentar las bases para regular el uso del local según las necesidades de cada una de las asociaciones.

The Town Hall is preparing to open the new Centre for Associations The ground rules for it’s use are expected to be announced during the Meeting of Associations, scheduled for April 25 The new Municipal Associations Centre, located on the first floor of the old School next to Plaza Marcelino Camacho has four offices and a meeting room with a capacity for over fifty people.

The refurbishment and adaptation of this facility was undertaken by the Casares town hall using its own resources in order to provide facilities that local associations have been asking for to be used as their headquarters, where they will be able to hold their meetings, among other uses.

The venue, explained the deputy mayor and head of citizen participation, Pepe Carrasco, has a very central location, with parking facilities and meets all accessibility standards.

Now the town hall is preparing the first meeting of local associations, expected to be held on April 25.

This reunion aims to bring the different groups activities together and also to lay the foundation for regulating the use of the premises according to the needs of each of the associations.

Constituida la Mesa por la Igualdad de Casares En la reunión celebrada dentro de la Semana de la Igualdad quedó constituida la denominada ‘Mesa por la Igualdad de Casares’ cuya intención es detectar las necesidades existentes y proponer actividades de sensibilización para seguir avanzando en una sociedad más igualitaria entre hombres y mujeres. Además, este órgano tendrá también como misión homogenizar los criterios de actuación, crear estrategias de sensibilización y prevención de las desigualdades de género, fomentar las relaciones igualitarias, dar una respuesta a las necesidades en igualdad de género, y en definitiva diseñar un plan de actuación conjunto.

El siguiente paso será la revalidación por el Ayuntamiento de Casares de la constitución de

Los vecinos de la zona norte de Marina Casares tendrán nuevo alumbrado público El Ayuntamiento de Casares iniciará durante el mes de abril las obras de renovación del alumbrado de la zona norte de Marina de Casares.

El proyecto tiene un coste que supera los 55.000 euros, y va a suponer la renovación de las canalizaciones y la instalación de 58 nuevas farolas con luminaria led.

Los trabajos, explica la concejala de Costa, Antonia Pineda, permitirá dotar de a la red de alumbrado público de mejores medidas de seguridad.

Además, según ha explicado el Ayuntamiento de Casares en un comunicado, optimizará el

En el encuentro de constitución estuvieron presente la Asociación de Mujeres Grecina de Villaraguz, Asociación BotikaEducaSaluss, Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos, y representantes de medios de comunicación, y Ayuntamiento de Casares, representada por la concejala de Igualdad, Antonia Pineda.

Durante la misma se plantearon algunas actividades que permitan continuar dando pasos para erradicar las desigualdades existentes entre hombres y mujeres, y para que en las próximas reuniones fuesen más las entidades, los colectivos y asociaciones que se sumasen a la iniciativa.

The Casares Equality Board is Formed At the meeting held during Equality Week the so-called Casares Equality Board was formed, intending to identify existing needs and propose activities to move forward into a more egalitarian society between men and women.

Con estos trabajos se completa la renovación de alumbrado público en la urbanización de Marina de Casares, después de que hace unos años se realizara este mismo procedimiento en la zona sur.

Marina de Casares es una de las urbanizaciones más antigua del municipio. Al estar considerada un núcleo urbano consolidado, el Ayuntamiento de Casares la recepcionó hace unos años haciéndose cargo de los servicios públicos, entre ellos del pago del alumbrado público.

Ya han concluidos los trabajos de este nuevo lugar de esparcimiento construido por el Ayuntamiento junto a la carretera de Casares a Gaucín, a la altura de la Finca El Pollo.

Se trata de un lugar ideal para el avistamiento de aves, y en especial para observar la gran

población de buitres que habita Sierra Crestellina.

“La bolsa de emergencia social ha creado 75 puestos de trabajo” El alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, hace balance de sus primeros 100 días en el cargo. En una entrevista a The Resident explica las claves de su gestión y avanza intenciones sobre su futuro político. ¿Qué balance puede hacer de los 100 días en el cargo de alcalde?

Muy positivo. En este tiempo hemos tenido cambios sustanciales y cualitativos fundamentalmente en seis cuestiones que para mi son determinantes: estabilidad de la plantilla; estímulos económicos para autónomos y pequeños empresarios; creación de una gran bolsa de emergencia social que ha creado 75 puestos de trabajo; mejora de las políticas de infraestructuras municipales; y se han sentado las bases para ser más solventes de cara a otras instituciones. ¿Considera que ha mantenido una línea continuista con la gestión de Antonia Muñoz?

Cuando accedí a la alcaldía me planteé una hoja de ruta. Digo lo mismo que dije en el pleno de investidura. Se ha hecho mucho y bien y se debe continuar en esta línea. Evidentemente si se ha hecho algo mal, o no todo lo bien que debería hacerse, se ha cambiado la forma de actual. Tenemos tolerancia cero con ese tipo de prácticas.

En este periodo ha realizado acciones importantes en ma-

teria de empleo, relaciones con las asociaciones, seguridad, deportes… Si tuviese que elegir alguna ¿Con cuál se quedaría?

Es complicado quedarme con alguna, aunque resaltaría cuatro fundamentalmente: En primer lugar la cercanía con las personas colectivos y asociaciones de Manilva. Por mi despacho han pasado todos los colectivos y hemos tratado de dar solución a todos los problemas que nos han planteado.

Por otro lado la creación de la bolsa de emergencia social que ha estado dotada con 300.000 euros.

En tercer lugar la celebración de la asamblea general de trabajadores para estabilizar y estructurar la plantilla. Aseguro que mientras Diego Urieta sea alcalde, no va a haber despido.

Y por último la celebración de la Junta Local de Seguridad. Es la primera vez que se celebra esta reunión en la que ha participado la Subdelegación junto a los Cuerpos y Fuerzas de Seguridad del Estado. El objetivo es que se busquen soluciones a la problemática de la seguridad. Somos un municipio atractivo, con población flotante, y al tener una dispersión geográfi-

ca tan grande y la cercanía a otros núcleos importantes (Gibraltar, norte de África…) el ayuntamiento no puede solventar todos los problemas que se plantean. Por eso hemos pedido auxilio, es una prioridad mejorar la prioridad con este municipio. ¿Cómo son las relaciones con otras instituciones?

Hemos pasado, de 2011 a la actualidad, de estar en la deriva en cuanto a instituciones, a tener buenas relaciones con el Ministerio de Hacienda. Somos un municipio con credibilidad institucional.

Echo en falta mayor apoyo económico por parte de otras instituciones ya que el ayuntamiento tiene que hacer frente a cuestiones, que no muchas veces son de su competencia, con recursos propios. ¿Quedan actuaciones pendientes antes de las próximas elecciones municipales?

Un político no puede prometer, debe comprometerse, y en 2011 concurrimos con un programa electoral. Tengo que decir, humildemente, que en un 90% las actuaciones programadas se han desarrollado. Se han sentado las

bases de un municipio moderno, con estabilidad, con garantías para crecer. Estoy muy satisfecho y la guinda será la puesta en funcionamiento de la ciudad deportiva de Sabinillas.

Nunca antes se había aprobado el Plan de Playas tan pronto. ¿Qué supone esta noticia para Manilva?

Soy muy consciente de que Manilva tiene un potencial enorme, tenemos que mejorar las posibilidades de generación de riqueza.

Nuestra principal fuente es el turismo de sol y playa. Un municipio como Manilva no puede permanecer al margen de esta realidad, y hemos querido enseñar la mejor de las caras con infraestructura,

seguridad, accesos a las playas…

Además, Manilva, por primera vez en la historia, va a estar cubierta por unidades de rescate marítimo por primera vez en la historia en Semana Santa: las playas estarán vigiladas por tierra y mar. ¿Cuál es el futuro de Diego Urieta?

Soy un demócrata convencido y mi papel será el que establezca mi partido, ‘Compromiso por Manilva’, y el pueblo. El pueblo tiene ganas de cambio y el pueblo está ilusionado, con ganas de cambio.

He sido elegido candidato y voy a intentar hacer la mejor de las candidaturas. Espero contar con el apoyo de la ciudadanía y ser elegido alcalde.

Very positive. When I became mayor I set myself a task list. I say the same as I said at my investiture. A lot has been done and done well, and we must continue on these lines. I am a democrat and my role will be to establish my party, ‘Compromiso Manilva’, Commitment for Manilva and its people. The town wants change and people are excited and wanting a change. I have been chosen as candidate and I will do my best. I hope to have the public’s support and be elected as mayor.

Abierto el Complejo Deportivo Sabinillas Sports Complex opens de Sabinillas

Desde el sábado 28 de marzo los ciudadanos de Manilva pueden disfrutar de la Ciudad Deportiva de Sabinillas. Se trata de un espacio en el que se conjugan las mejores instalaciones deportivas con distintos servicios destinados al tiempo libre de los usuarios.

Inicialmente estaba previsto que se inaugurara el viernes 27, pero el luto nacional declarado por la tragedia aérea de lo Alpes franceses ha retrasado la apertura 24 horas. El acto protocolario se celebrará este sábado a las 19:00 horas, y hasta las tres de la

tarde habrá jornadas de puertas abiertas.

Así, esta nueva infraestructura, impulsada definitivamente en los últimos meses, cuenta con siete pistas de pádel, una pista de fútbol sala, una pista de tenis, un gimnasio, salas multiusos, piscina climatizada y pabellón deportivo, así como 280 plazas de aparcamiento. Estas instalaciones se enmarcan en un espacio de casi 10.000 metros cuadrados situado junto a la Avenida Andalucía.

Además de las instalaciones

polideportivas, uno de los apartados más importantes de esta nueva ciudad deportiva es el pabellón cubierto. Su acceso se sitúa por calle Goya.

El alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, ha destacado la importancia que tendrá este complejo en la sociedad manilveña, ya que no solo habilita zonas de aparcamientos sino que las instalaciones deportivas son de primer nivel y supondrá un nuevo salto de calidad en las infraestructuras y los servicios municipales al ciudadano.

l Ayuntamiento de Manilva, a través de la Delegación de Medio Ambiente, ha informado que el parque canino de la localidad estará operativo el próximo mes de mayo.

Este espacio, que estará ubicado entre el Pueblo Mexicano y la

carretera del Peñoncillo será ejecutado de manera inmediata.

El proyecto, realizado por los técnicos municipales, tiene por objetivo la protección de los animales, su confort y la posibilidad de sus dueños de tener un espacio destinado a las mascotas.

a entrada a Manilva pueblo presenta una nueva imagen una vez que han sido cubiertos los restos del horno romano existentes en la plaza de la Vendimia, hasta que desde el área de Cultura en Málaga se decida como se va a proceder con estas ruinas.

En esta línea, el edil de obras Mario Jiménez, explicó que el Ayuntamiento ya ha presentado dos propuestas para poner en

valor estos restos y se encuentra a la espera de una respuesta por parte de las entidades implicadas. De hecho, según el edil, a pesar de no ser competencia municipal, el equipo de gobierno ve muy positiva una actuación sobre estas ruinas romanas , un hecho que vendría a sumar el interés de todos los que visitan la localidad.

Por lo tanto, a partir de ahora, el visitante se encontrará al llegar a

este núcleo urbano, con un pentágono, donde en cada uno de sus lados se muestra una imagen del municipio.

De esta manera, se encuentra representada una localidad con las imágenes más representativas de la localidad. Con esto, se pretende que cada rincón del municipio sea un punto de parada obligatoria para todo aquel que nos visita y represente un orgullo para los residentes en la localidad.

La Ruta Blas Infante incluye a Manilva como punto de su itinerario El 24 de febrero de 2015, tras dos años de trabajo colaborativo, se formalizó la Red de Municipios de la Ruta de Blas Infante, una asamblea que se llevó a cabo en la Fundación Blas Infante, presidida por su presidenta, María de los Ángeles Infante.

Comienza así una nueva etapa donde la ruta ya se pone en marcha como tal, ofreciendo al visitante y al turista una nueva mirada sobre Andalucía y su historia, una mirada muy personal por el itinerario biográfico del padre de la Patria Andaluza, Blas Infante.

El origen de este hito se

remonta a 2013, año en el que comenzó la creación de la Ruta de Blas Infante, un proyecto de itinerario turístico-cultural por pueblos ligados a la memoria de Blas Infante y el Andalucismo Histórico.

En la actualidad forman parte de la Ruta de Blas Infante los ayuntamientos de Casares, Manilva, Archidona, Isla Cristina, Cantillana, Coria del Río, Peñaflor, y Castro del Río.

Desde las entidades locales implicada en esta nueva oferta cultural existe la firme convicción de que el impulso de esta ruta tiene la intención de que no se

pierda la identidad la región, y que el patrimonio infantiano se mantenga vivo. En esta tarea, se destaca en un comunicado, la labor municipalista es fundamental.

El alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, estuvo presente en varias reuniones como representante del municipio para apoyar y apostar por esta iniciativa cultural y de memoria histórica y que, a través de uno de los personajes más destacados Andalucía, fomenta una ruta que se presenta con ilusión y ganas de ofrecer a la ciudadanía la posibilidad de conocer más a Blas Infante.

The origin of this milestone goes back to 2013, the year in which the creation of the Blas Infante Route began, a project with a cultural and tourist itinerary through towns linked to the legend of Blas Infante and the history of Andalucia.

The municipalities currently participating in this initiative are Casares, Manilva, Archidona, Isla Cristina, Cantillana, Coria del Río, Peñaflor, and Castro del Río.

The local entities involved in this new cultural route firmly believe that it’s creation will safeguard the

region’s unique identity and help to insure that the memory of Blas Infante is kept alive. A statement was released highlighting the importance of municipal participation in this task.

Campaña para fomentar el padrón en Manilva

Te recordamos que como ciudadano de Manilva has de empadronarte en la ciudad en que vives o trabajas, así como comunicar los cambios de domicilio que lleves a cabo.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha iniciado una campaña informativa para que los ciudadanos se empadronen en el municipio, lo que les reportará “importantes beneficios”, según el concejal de Estadísticas, Marcos Ruiz. El edil recordó que los ciudadanos que se empadronen en el municipio podrán optar a ayudas en impuestos públicos como el IBI, así como inscribirse en cursos, talleres y actividades municipales. También podrán matricular a sus hijos en los colegios públicos, obtener certificados de residencia, seguridad social o ayudas económicas y sociales.

Estar empadronado también da derecho a votar en periodos electorales, optar a ayudas por desempleo, darse de alta como autónomo o formalizar matrimonios civiles.

Además, tienes que recordar que en función de los que estemos empadronados, así recibiremos recursos económicos de Diputación y del Estado. Tu presencia sí es importante para todos; de ello dependen nuestras escuelas, centros de salud, carreteras, hospitales, juzgados, y un largo etc.

Los interesados en darse de alta en el Padrón Municipal deberán dirigirse a las oficinas situadas en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva o en la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Sabinillas.

Según los últimos datos municipales, de los 14.800 habitantes de Manilva, algo más de 6.700 son extranjeros, de los que casi 3.000 son británicos. La mayoría figuran como residentes, puesto que el empadronamiento no implica perder derechos en el país de origen.

El Ayuntamiento de Manilva solicita al Gobierno el adelanto de la partida de seis mensualidades destinadas a participación

l Pleno del Ayuntamiento de Manival solicitó, tras la sesión celebrada el pasado 25 de febrero, el anticipo correspondiente a seis mensualidades de la participación en los ingresos del Estado 2015.

A este respecto, el alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, destacó que el consistorio manilveño no ha podido beneficiarse de ninguna de las partidas que otras administraciones tienen destinadas con carácter público, ya que hasta hace unos meses no ha estado al corriente de las obligaciones con Hacienda o la Seguridad Social.

Con el plan de ajuste llevado a cabo en el Ayuntamiento, y los

acuerdos alcanzados con estos organismos supramunicipales, "podemos hablar hoy en día de ser un ayuntamiento saneado, que cumple con los proveedores, con sus trabajadores y con las obligaciones estatales y esto nos lleva a que cuenten con nosotros desde el gobierno central para cualquier subvención", apuntó Urieta.

La liquidación de la Sociedad de Comunicación Social estaba integrada en este punto como tema principal. La realidad es que los trabajadores de la Radio Televisión municipal ya forman parte de la plantilla municipal, y que el proceso de liquidación de esta sociedad está prácticamente

finalizado, por lo que el Ayuntamiento se deshace de todas las sociedades que fueron creadas por otros gobiernos y que eran deficitarias para las arcas municipales.

Urieta hizo referencia a la abstención de la oposición en este punto manifestando que “cuando se hace una política seria, transparente y mirando por los intereses de los manilveños no queda otra que apoyar lo que se lleva a pleno o, en este caso, abstenerse y recibir de buen grado las propuestas que tienen como único objetivo que prevalezca el interés general", finalizó.

Manilva celebra la primera Junta de Seguridad de su historia Un representante de la Subdelegación del Gobierno en Málaga visitó la localidad para mantener, junto al alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, y los representantes de otros cuerpos de seguridad del Estado, una reunión de la Junta Local de Seguridad.

Esta Junta fue la primera oficial en la historia de Manilva y en ella también han estado presentes los responsables de los Cuerpos de Seguridad Locales.

El representante del Subdelegado del Gobierno en Málaga destacó el buen ambiente de colaboración entre los cuerpos de seguridad, algo que redunda de manera

positiva en la ciudadanía.

La problemática del tráfico de drogas, los robos, la instalación de cámaras de seguridad o la cobertura de eventos por parte de la Guardia Civil, han sido varios de los asuntos tratados durante esta reunión.

Para el alcalde de Manilva, Diego Urieta, es muy importante aumentar y mejorar la seguridad ciudadana a lo largo de todo el término municipal, por lo que considera que ha sido una Junta muy positiva para explicar las mejoras en esta materia de seguridad, tan importante para los vecinos y turistas, pueden realizarse.

Manilva celebrates it’s first ever Joint Security Meeting A representative from the provincial government in Málaga visited the town recently to hold the first ever Security Meeting, with the mayor of Manilva, Diego Urieta.

This was the first official meeting of it’s type in the history of Manilva, with the heads of local law enforcement agencies also in attendance.

The representative from Málaga highlighted the great sense of collaboration between the various law enforcement agencies, which has a positive effect for local residents.

Issues including drug trafficking, robberies, installing security cam-

eras or the policing of events by the Guardia Civil were among the topics discussed during this meeting.

To the Mayor of Manilva, Diego Urieta, it is very important to increase and improve public safety throughout the entire municipality, and he therefore considers the meeting to have been a great success in the sense that several improvements have been suggested.

He also stressed the importance of meetings like this one to make the town an even better place than it already is.

Manilva remove architectural barriers throughout the municipality

Tanto el primer edil del

municipio, como el concejal de Infraestructura y Obras, Mario Jiménez, han realizado un recorrido por el municipio para perfeccionar este proyecto según ha anunciado el propio ayuntamiento en un comunicado.

El alcalde de la localidad, Diego Urieta, se mostraba satisfecho por contar con este documento, que regulará y organizará uno de los atractivos más importantes con los que cuenta el término.

El objetivo de este documento es fijar los criterios de zonificación territorial, de localización de instalaciones y uso de los diversos servicios que durante el año 2015 habrán de ofrecerse a los visitantes y usuarios de las distintas playas existentes dentro del término municipal de Manilva.

Según Urieta, el objeto del presente Plan de Playas es dar cumplimiento a lo ordenado por la Consejería de Medio Ambiente, a través de la Delegación Territorial de Málaga.

Los principales objetivos de la Delegación Municipal de Playas, en relación con las playas del municipio, se establecen dentro del concepto de desarrollo sostenible, organiza y desarrolla las líneas de trabajo y servicios adecuados para el uso y disfrute de las playas,

atendiendo al mantenimiento de su correcta calidad medioambiental y de servicios al usuario. Además, el plan tiene en cuenta las especiales condiciones medioambientales que debe regir zonas con mayor protección como es la Reserva Ecológica.

Los metros cuadrados totales de ocupación entre instalaciones públicas y privadas serán 9.406,75 m2, lo que supone contar con unas infraestructuras y un Plan de Playas completo, mirando por la ciudadanía y realizando una oferta de sol y playa de calidad.

El Balizamiento de las Playas

del término municipal de Manilva entra dentro del Plan Agrupado de Balizamiento de las Playas de la Costa del Sol Occidental para el año 2015, elaborado y tramitado por la Mancomunidad de Municipios.

En cuanto a la limpieza, se prevé la realización del Plan Municipal de Limpieza de Playas 2015. Se pretenden instalar 100 unidades de papeleras y un servicio de recogida de basuras que se realizará a diario y antes de las horas de baño, con lo que se mantendrán las playas en perfecto estado de limpieza.

The placement of buoys to divide the bathing areas from the open water and boat access to the beach falls under the Plan for this specific initiative carried out by the Association of Municipalities.

As for sanitation, the 2015 Municipal Beach Cleanup Plan will be implemented. The aim is to install 100 bins along the beaches and a daily rubbish collection service which will be carried out in the early hours of the morning, which will keep the beaches perfectly clean.

En una actividad didáctica, miembros de Protección Civil, realizaron el denominado rescate por el método arcón ante unos 400 alumnos de los colegios de Maicandil y Pablo Picasso.

Este simulacro de rescate sirvió para realizar la presentación de esta unidad integrada en Protección Civil.

El método Arcón son operaciones de búsqueda y salvamento de vidas con perros y la investigación científica sobre aprendizaje y conducta canina de búsqueda y detección cuyos resultados han

sido mundialmente avalados y galardonados .

Según comentaban los responsables de Protección Civil “siempre es bueno que la ciudadanía tenga conocimiento de los trabajos que se llevan a cabo, las previsiones que hay que tener y sobre todo, la forma de actuar ante cualquier suceso”.

Con estas exhibiciones se pretende que toda la ciudadanía esté coordinada ante la necesidad de cualquier persona de ser rescatada y atendida.

RECLAMACIONES A COMPAÑÍAS DE SEGUROS Todos tenemos Pólizas de seguros (hogar, salud, vehículos/ coche, de accidentes, etc.) y es común que, tarde o temprano, aparezca una situación que deba ser cubierta por nuestra compañía de seguros; por ejemplo, ocurren unos daños que afectan a nuestro vecino o en un accidente de coche alguien resulta lesionado) o una situación en la que sufrimos unos perjuicios o unos daños que deban ser cubiertos por otra compañía de seguros (por ejemplo, sufrimos un accidente de coche provocado por otro conductor o somos golpeados por una bola cuando estamos jugando al golf).

En algún momento de nuestras vidas parece que tendremos que tratar con compañías de seguros para hacer una reclamación, y es importante saber cómo hacerlo.

Aquí hay unos consejos a seguir: 1. Cuando se contrata una póliza de seguro, siempre conserve un juego original de las condiciones generales y de las condiciones particulares de la póliza, para referencias futuras.

2. Siempre informe a su compañía de seguros sobre una situación-incidente por teléfono lo antes posible, y

Si es posible, siempre tome fotos de la situación el mismo día del accidente/incidente o el día siguiente.

No deje que el tiempo pase sin ninguna noticia. En el plazo de 3-6 meses desde el momento del accidente/ incidente remita una carta a la compañía de seguros mediante correo certificado con acuse de recibo. Mencione en esa carta el número de referencia de su póliza, el del incidente/accidente y la fecha del mismo.

Nunca use la asistencia legal ofrecida por la compañía de seguros. Muchas pólizas de seguros incluyen asistencia y representación legal, pero normalmente no es una representación independien-

INSURANCE CLAIMS Everyone has insurance policies (home, health, vehicles/car, accidents, etc.) and usually, sooner or later, a situation will arise which should be covered by the insurance company, for instance; damages occur which affect a neighbour; or in a car accident someone is injured; or a situation in which we suffer damages or injuries that should be covered by another insurance company (for instance; we suffer a car accident caused by another driver; or are hit by a ball when playing golf).

At some stage in all our lives it is likely that we will have to deal with an insurance company to make a claim, and it is important to know how to do it. These are a few tips to be followed: 1. When an insurance policy is contracted, always keep an original set of the general conditions and the particular conditions of the policy, for future reference.

2. Always report to your insurance company on any incident a.s.a.p. by phone, and ask for a reference number for the incident.

3. f possible, you should always try to take photos of the situation on the same day that the incident/accident occurs or at the latest by the following day 4. Write your own statement of accident/situation (date, hour, etc) for future reference.

5. Always keep all original documents of the situation (medical reports, police reports, etc.) and never give the insurance companies the originals, just provide photocopies of the required documents.

6. Do not allow time to pass by with no progress. Within 3-6 months from the time of accident/incident send a letter to the insurance company by registered post with an acknowledgement of receipt request. Mention in this letter the reference number of your insurance policy, reference of the incident/accident and date of it.

7. Never use the legal representation offered by the insurance company. Many insurance policies include legal assistance and representation, but it is normally not independent representation, so always use your own solicitor, as it will not cost you anything. Your insurance company is obliged to pay the legal fees of your own independent lawyer. By choosing your own solicitor you will be 100% sure that your interests and rights are fully protected and that you are told all of the facts.

8. If you do not receive a satisfactory result for your case within 6 months, contact an independent solicitor and instruct him to represent you and to claim on your behalf.

9. Legal action must be taken within 1 year from the moment of accident/incident as there is a time limit of 1 year to file a civil claim against insurance companies. Often insurance companies use delaying tactics to hold things up, playing for time, until it is too late for a client to have the legal right to make a claim.

10. Unfortunately, insurance companies are very diligent in collecting insurance premiums from customers, but are later, very reluctant to compensate customers when something happens that is covered by the insurance policy. There is always an excuse or argument to try to avoid their responsibility to compensate their customers. Be careful when dealing with insurance companies. Always seek independent legal advice should you suffer an accident, or if you are not happy with the way they are dealing with the situation, or if they are not paying attention to you, or if you are not justly compensated, etc.

The Resident inicia este mes una ronda de entrevista con los candidatos a los distintos ayuntamientos de la Comarca. En primer lugar conocemos las propuestas y perfiles de los cabezas de lista de PSOE, PP e IU al Ayuntamiento de Casares.

1. Como alcalde de Casares voy a continuar siendo la misma persona que estos últimos años, la que conocen todos mis vecinos y vecinas. Una persona cercana y amable, cumplidora con mis compromisos, siempre disponible cuando me necesitan.

2. Personas preparadas y con experiencia en gestión, hombres y mujeres con habilidades que se complementan para formar el mejor equipo para trabajar por Casares con integrantes de los tres núcleos: Casares, Costa y El Secadero.

3. Gobernar para los habitantes de nuestro municipio, teniendo en cuenta las necesidades de todos. Desde Izquierda Unida queremos continuar promoviendo la participación de la ciudadanía.

Casares cuenta con un gran atractivo turístico, trabajaremos para conservar la singular imagen del conjunto histórico artístico y sus inigualables parajes naturales, para que las personas que nos visiten disfruten de sus estancia, y todo colaborando con empresas del sector buscando ser más competitivos y que el turista no nos visite sólo de paso.

1. Soy una persona humilde, amigo de los amigos. Me levanto todos los días a las 6 de la mañana y termino a las 10 de la noche, soy un empresario y una víctima más de la crisis. Estoy en política porque mi objetivo es cambiar lo que hay y estoy aquí con el único objetivo de ayudar a mis vecinos.

2. Llevo dos años confeccionando mi lista. Llevo al mejor equipo posible que pueda llevar un candidato, gente joven con un espíritu de proyección espectacular: empresarios, licenciados, amas de casa con unas ganas de trabajar por el pueblo inmensas.

3. El empleo. Y para ello hace falta cambiar muchas cosas y en ello estoy, llevo toda la legislatura pensando y creo que sé como hacerlo. Sé como dar un vuelco al paro en Casares, no hay derecho que tengamos 500 parados.

4. En primer lugar poner una alfombra roja a todo el inversor que llegue al pueblo y no poner travas y travas como está pasando en la actualidad, si no hay inversión no hay empleo y si no hay empleo no se genera riqueza y eso es así.

5. Tenemos muchísimos vecinos de otras nacionalidades empadronados y el trato debe de ser extraordinario, es muy sencillo, si usted elige Casares para vivir será por algún motivo.

6. Sí. Llevo extranjeros en mi equipo y estoy encantado con ellos, aportan ideas e iniciativas muy buenas, con mi programa se pueden sentir orgullosos.

7. Tendré una oficina para el extranjero. Para mi son unos vecinos más que hablan en otro idioma y no le quepa la menor duda que conmigo como alcalde estarán atendidos como se merecen.

8. Yo amo y defiendo a los tres núcleos y para mi deben de tener el mismo trato.

9. Al turismo hay que darle su sitio y el turismo es una fuente de ingresos y de vida para nuestro municipio.

Al turista hay que tratarlo como un vecino más.

Casares is a very attractive tourist destination, we will work to preserve it’s original historic and artistic image and its unique natural landscapes, so that people who visit us enjoy their stay, whilst collaborating with businesses seeking to be more competitive and ensuring that tourists visiting us don’t just pass through.

1. I am a humble person, friend of friends. I get up every day at 6 am and finish at 10 pm, I am a businessman and another victim of the crisis. I am in politics because my goal is to change what's there and I'm here with the sole intention of helping my neighbours.

2. I have spent two years making my list. I have the best team that a candidate could wish for, young people with a spectacular sense of projection: businessmen, graduates, housewives with a vast desire to work for the town.

3. Employment. And this requires changing many things and I am working on this, I have spent the entire term thinking and I think I know how. I know how to overturn the employment situation in Casares, the fact there are 500 unemployed people in the municipality is just not fair.

4. Firstly put a red carpet out for all potential investors in the town and not put a barrier of red tape in their way as is happening today, if there is no investment there are no jobs and if there are no jobs no wealth is generated, that’s the way it is.

5. We have many neighbours of other nationalities residing in the area and their treatment must be extraordinary, it's simple, if you choose to live in Casares there must be a reason.

6. Yes. I have foreigners in my team and I am delighted with them, they contribute good ideas and initiatives, they can be proud of my programme.

7. I will have an office for foreigners. To me they are residents like any other who speak another language and there must not be the slightest doubt that with me as mayor they will be treated as they deserve to be.

8. I love and defend the three centres and for me they should be treated equally.

9. Tourism should have it’s place and tourism is a source of income and life for our town.

Tourists should be treated like any other resident.

1. Me considero una persona de principios, trabajadora y honesta con una gran implicación en todo lo que hago.

Además, soy una persona a la que le gusta ir planteándose retos. El próximo es ser el mejor alcalde para mis vecinos.

2. He conseguido reunir en este equipo a un grupo de hombres y mujeres, de 18 a 44 años, con muy buena formación académica y con una gran implicación en este proyecto.

3. Generar empleo estable en la localidad para paliar la dramática situación de muchas familias. Mejorar la sanidad y la educación y por supuesto fomentar el Turismo 4. Apostamos por la formación a todas las edades para aprovechar la importante demanda en sectores como el textil, agricultura… dando la bienvenida a las cooperativas, fomentando el autoempleo mediante ayudas a autónomos.

5. Debemos romper barreras. Queremos que se sientan parte de la sociedad casareña.

6. No creo en la diferencia entre vecinos extranjeros y vecinos españoles. Le ayudaremos para romper la principal barrera, que es el idioma.

7. En nuestro equipo contamos con personas que dominan bien el inglés, y que además han vivido en el extranjero, que conocen las dificultades con las que se encuentra un extranjero.

8. Creo que existen diferencia entre los vecinos de los diferentes núcleos, debido a las políticas del Ayuntamiento. Queremos que esa situación cambie y todos y cada uno de ellos se sientan orgullosos de todo el término municipal 9. Para empezar, abrir la Oficina de Empleo los fines de semana. El Turismo tiene que ser el principal motor de creación de empleo en la localidad y debemos dar a conocer la marca Casares. Fomentar el Turismo rural y mejorar los alojamientos en la zona. Formar a nuestros vecinos para que cada uno de ellos puedan ser los mejores guías turísticos y embajadores de nuestro pueblo.

Promote rural tourism and improve accommodation in the area. Educate our neighbours so they are able to be the best tour guides and ambassadors of our town.

En la Residencia de las Palabras

ENTRE DIFICULTADES Los rayos se extienden por las calles –oh sol que no os detenéis ante la vida–; se reciben los pañuelos de agua y luz de las alturas; leones diminutos extirpan los globos de los niños, juegan su noche de ciudad cansada los chiquillos; y ahora, dónde los cursos de baile, de pintura, cursos de ensueños para el titiritero que se asombra de los insultos económicos.

No hay monedas para el hambre; sí regalos del aire, del campo, los ganados, las minas..., flores e instrumentos, y tantos diciembres desagradables en la venida salvadora, contrastes en la lluvia, gotas encalladas en las charcas de la preocupación.

Alguien lo declama: “Padre del viento, he buscado en mi mente algo más de sabiduría para entender los columpios que acechan la tierra de los pobres”.

Más allá de las ciruelas y las hormigas no se puede vivir un amor de pétalos desgranados.

Los aromas no se distinguen.

Escalan hasta la mochila la insegura materia, más allá de la tierra, la nada de las larvas.

(Algunos, para tomar medidas, medidas una vez y otra vez, conocen las constituciones y los votos borrachos.

Hay que salvar la deuda exterior y la dignidad del pueblo.

Hay que salvar los evangelios demacrados por la mano sin conciencia. ¿Quién se hará cargo justamente del pueblo?).

Y se pide libertad, detrás está la sangre.

Dos calles más allá, puede que viva el mundo, un universo sin ausencia de clavos que perforan (allí también vive un amigo mío).

En otra calle se admiten rayos, el corazón del sol los administra, y el eco de la luz en la falda de una niña que juguetea, volante para bailar sin miedo, no conoce la causa, ni la historia aún de este poema, y únicamente se hace solidario.

Un nuevo día para amarnos

He despertado, y en silencio me acomodo en el borde de la cama, que es como sentarse en una mansión del sueño; el pijama desprende una cálida luna que se acostó conmigo; la ropa, lejana me parece: miro el pantalón y no sé si tiene el cinturón puesto, me cuesta mucho encontrar un cinturón; por la ventana cerrada, pero no lo suficiente, se cuela un brote de la aurora y despierta del todo mi conciencia.

El día es fuente, color, si lo quiero, es plenitud, es abertura en la definición de vida por vivir, esa que ya poseo y que nada ni nadie puede arrebatarme.

He despertado, mi dolor es más leve por el amor que me ofrecen los míos, y alcanzo la ropa colgada en el perchero, el cinturón apareció oculto en el jersey.

Cuánta suerte tengo de estar junto a vosotros.

Sois como esos rayos que primero entran suaves, sonoros, esenciales, un brote de aurora por la ventana, y después convergen a una misma habitación abierta, sincera y familiar.

Buenos días de luz para romper las tinieblas.

En las entrañas del Recuerdo Me duele el girar las llaves y abrir la puerta que me adentra en las entrañas del recuerdo.

Abro y me dirijo al salón.

Tu presencia pictórica que vigila mi corazón y que como buen contemplador observa todo aquello que se extingue con gran dolor.

Las pesas apenadas del reloj de pared, a ras del suelo esperando que las suban otra vez.

Las paralizadas manecillas a las nueve y tres, sus campanas ya insonorizadas porque ya no hay quienes las escuchen con placer.

Al fondo y a la izquierda, la máquina de coser.

Ya amortajada y sepultada llora en silencio el no hacer, echando de menos las acariciantes manos y un pie, que las hacían cantar desde la mañana al atardecer.

Sola ya, acompañada de cajas de hilos de diferentes colores que ya se ven palidecer y perder su brillantez.

A medida que me adentro en el corredor, el aire se hace con su gran espesor.

Al final y a la derecha, la agonizante cama que te espera junto con la apesadumbrada almohada que espera y espera

Me voy a la otra estancia.

Paredes de azul cielo, y en el centro, ya no están los rojos claveles que daban de beber al Cristo del Gran Poder.

Cristo agonizante, que no sé adónde te los llevaste.

Tercera estancia, me quedo sin palabras.

Inefable descripción.

Writers’ Corner

Writers’ Groups One of the main drawbacks to being a writer abroad is lack of meaningful contact with other writers. It takes another writer to empathise with rejections and to understand the euphoria of an acceptance.

Even if you are not yet at the stage of submitting work for publication, the benefit of feedback on work in progress from other writers is invaluable. In addition, listening to the work of others and trying to find ways to help the author improve on the piece will change the way you look at your own writing. You’ll find yourself remembering the advice given to others and avoid making the same mistakes.

Apart from all the above, there is the camaraderie of being part of a group – when the critiquing is over and the social side begins, you might find members with whom you really click, leading to some great outings.

I belong to a wonderful group which meets in Estepona every second week. You might think, being published, I don’t need feedback from other writers, but you’d be wrong. All writers need honest and constructive criticism. If you would like to know more about joining the writing group I attend, drop me a line at: lorraine@lorrainemace. com

Online Groups

Face to face criticism is not for everyone. You might be too shy or simply disinclined to meet other writers, or live in too remote an area. In any of these cases, joining an online group might be the best answer. The Directory of Writers’ Circles, Courses and Workshops has a listings page with quite a few online groups http://www.writerscircles.com/online.html or type writing group into a search engine.

Do research carefully to find the right group for you. Some groups are renowned for their harsh feedback and lack of support.

Others are too nice and simply say everything is wonderful – even when a piece clearly needs quite a lot of work!

What you should be looking for is a place where you feel secure, but where you will receive feedback on how to improve as a writer.

relatively large ex-pat community, the chances are high that there will be a sprinkling of writers around.

To find them, try asking the local dealer of English books to put up a notice. Or get in touch with one of the many English-language radio stations. They’ll often air requests for ex-pat residents.

Remember, ex-pat writer doesn’t have to be synonymous with lonely writer.

Reader’s Letter Rob from Casares has issues with point of view: I’ve been reading online about writing in the 3rd person and the introduction of multi POVs and have ended up really confused. Is it okay to use more than one POV or must it be avoided?

The use of multiple points of view is one of those areas where you will most probably receive a different answer from every person you ask.

For very short stories, it is certainly not advisable to use more than one point of view, as it is easier for the reader to identify with a single character. For longer works, there is no reason why you cannot use several points of view, as long as your reader is able to follow what is going on.

Changes of POV can be very confusing unless clearly signalled, but the technique is extremely successful when used correctly.

Anyone who has read Lord of the Rings will be aware of just how effective it can be. The POV switches were used to increase the tension, leaving the reader gasping to know what was happening to the characters they’d left behind, but at the same time relieved to catch up with others.

Nilva vuelve a poner a Manilva en la lista de vinos

Al contemplar las onduladas laderas de Manilva, cubiertas de viñas, quizá nos hayamos preguntado qué sucede con la vendimia del pueblo. Bien, la mayoría se vende como uvas de mesa o se secan en las colinas para hacer las famosas pasas de Málaga, mientras que algunas se utilizan para hacer vinos que se venden localmente.

Pero hay un pequeño rincón que está luchando por poner a Manilva en el mapa como productor de vinos de calidad, y está comenzando a ver los frutos de ese trabajo.

El proyecto se centra alrededor

del Centro Vinícola CIVIMA del pueblo, que abrió hace un par de años y ahora está dirigido por el titular de la concesión, la empresa Nilva Enoturismo S.L., dirigida por Argimiro Martínez Moreno.

Oriunda de Albacete, la familia de Argimiro ha estado cultivando uvas durante décadas, aunque fue su profesión como Ingeniero Agrónomo lo que le hizo venir a esta zona en 2004.

Tras algunos años, estudió la posibilidad de crear una bodega para la producción de su familia, pero la crisis financiera hizo que esto no fuera viable. Fue

entonces cuando la entidad para el Desarrollo de Manilva, Funmades, contactó con él para ofrecerle un puesto de profesor en el curso sobre vitivinicultura que estaban impartiendo.

Cuando este proyecto finalizó, el Ayuntamiento decidió aceptar propuestas para la concesión para dirigir el Centro del vino, sus viñedos, instalaciones de producción y museo. Con el plan de negocio que había diseñado para su idea original de una bodega, Argimiro tuvo éxito y consiguió la concesión.

El negocio cuenta con tres áreas principales. La primera, el cultivo, vendimia y producción de la vid.

Nilva tiene 1,8 hectáreas de viñas en el Peñoncillo, que este año han sido declaradas orgánicas.

Las uvas de estas viñas se prensan, fermentan, trasiegan y embotellan en las instalaciones de producción del Centro, que tiene capacidad para producir 6.000 botellas de vino anualmente; la cosecha del primer año produjo 2.650 botellas y la del segundo año 4.500. Aunque aún producen el vino dulce por el que mejor se conoce a la variedad de uva Moscatel de Alejandría, Nilva ha optado por un vino blanco joven

seco, más fácil de comercializar, dirigido a los sectores hotelero y de restauración.

Dada su pequeña capacidad, Nilva busca producir un producto de alta calidad, y con esto en mente, han puesto en marcha el proceso de conseguir el estado Denominación de origen, similar a las denominaciones francesas, que protegerían la marca Vino de Manilva.

La misión de Nilva también es la de desarrollar el turismo orientado al vino a la zona, para lo cual están perfectamente equipados para ofrecer visitas guiadas previa cita. Existen numerosas opciones desde una visita guiada al museo del centro, la zona de exhibición, presentación audio visual, hasta las zonas de producción, etc., tras lo cual existe la oportunidad de realizar una cata del vino.

También puede incluirse una visita a los viñedos como parta de la visita. Los precios van desde 8 Euros por persona para grupos de 10 personas o más, o 10 Euros por personas para grupos de cuatro personas como mínimo.

El centro vinícola CIVIMA también cuenta con un auditorio

con capacidad para 240 personas, para realizar conciertos u obras de teatros o eventos y presentaciones corporativas. El auditorio puede reservarse.

Nilva puts Manilva back on the wine list As you gaze across Manilva’s rolling hillsides, covered in grape vines you must have wondered what happens to the town’s grape harvest. Well most of it is sold for eating or dried on the hillsides to make the famous Malaga Raisins, whilst some of it is pressed to make wines which are sold in the local greengrocers and bars.

There is a small corner though that is striving to put Manilva on the map as a producer of fine wines and is beginning to see the fruits of that labour.

This project centres around the town’s CIVIMA Wine Centre which opened a couple of years ago and

is now managed by the concession holder Nilva Enoturismo SL, directed by Argimiro Martínez Moreno.

Originally from Albacete, Argimiro’s family has been growing grapes for decades, but it was as an agricultural engineer that he came to this area in 2004. After a few years he looked into the feasibility of creating a bodega for his family’s product but the financial crisis made this unfeasible, it was then that he was approached by the Manilva Development entity, Funmades, to be a teacher for the Winemaking foundation course they were running. When this finished the Town Hall decided to invite bids for the

concession to run the Wine Centre, its vineyard, production facilities and museum. Putting into the action the business plan he had drawn up for his original idea of a bodega, Argimiro was successful and won the concession.

There are three main areas to the business, the first being the growing, harvesting and production of the wine. Nilva has some 1.8 hectares of vines on the Peñoncillo site which as of this year have been officially declared as organic.

The grapes from these vines are then pressed, fermented, racked and bottled in the Centre’s production facility which has a capacity to produce 6,000 bottles of wine annually, with the first year’s harvest producing 2,650 bottles and the second 4,500. Whilst they still produce the sweet wine for which the local Muscat of Alexandria is best known for, Nilva have gone for a more easily marketed young dry white wine aimed at the hotel and restaurant sector.

Given the small capacity, Nilva are looking to produce a more high end product, and with this they have put in motion the process of being granted Denominación de Origen status, similar the French

appellations, which would protect the Manilva Wine brand.

Nilva’s mission is also to develop wine tourism to the area for which they are perfectly equipped to offer guided tours to groups of visitors by appointment. There are number of options ranging from a guided tour of the centre’s museum, exhibition area, audio visual presentation, production areas, etc., after which there is an opportunity to sample the wine. Or there is the option to include a visit to the vineyards as part of the tour. Prices start at 8 euros per head for groups of ten or more, or ten euros for a minimum group of four.

The CIVIMA wine centre also boasts a 240 seat auditorium for music and theatre as well as corporate events and presentations, which is available for bookings.

Director-Gerente Rivervial Grupo El director-gerente de Rivervial Grupo atiende a The Resident tras terminar las obras de un ‘chiringuito’ en Manilva.

Rivervial ha construido un nuevo chiringuito en Manilva. ¿Son estos proyectos importantes para vosotros?

Efectivamente, y además de ésta se han realizado numerosas obras en este segmento como son los restaurantes de playa del Paseo Marítimo de La Malagueta o el de Guadalmar. Efectivamente la apuesta de Rivervial por el sector es fuerte, de hecho hemos contado con un stand en la feria de Hostelequip y siempre que podemos colaboramos con el sector.

Se trata de un sector, para nosotros, en el que estamos muy especializado. Por ejemplo, en varias provincias estamos asesorando a varios estudios de arquitectura en formas de desarrollo y construcción de los sótanos, algo nuevo dentro del segmento y en los que, debido a la falta de espacio en superficie, se están instalando cámaras frigoríficas, vestuarios… El objetivo, y se está consiguiendo, es equipararlo al resto de restaurantes en calidad y

servicios.

¿Tiene Rivervial más proyectos por la zona?

Ahora mismo estamos pendientes de que se desarrollen otros proyectos que, por circunstancias de tiempo, va a ser complicado que se puedan acometer antes del verano. La zona tiene pendiente la renovación de las concesiones y Rivervial tratará de estar presente en los proyectos que se liciten.

La rehabilitación está siendo la salida para empresas de la construcción. ¿También se está dando este fenómeno en esta zona de la Costa del Sol?

Aquí, por el hecho de ser viviendas de segunda residencia, apenas reciben inversión de sus propietarios porque con los recursos económicos muy limitados se apuesta por la vivienda habitual.

Eso sí, entendemos que el parque residencial que más potencial tiene es el que está más cercano al mar que, por sus características y un uso más intensivo, deberá

Entiendo que ahora es el momento en el que este mercado se empiece a reactivar por lo que mejorará el valor de la vivienda de segunda mano que es la que más posibilidades de rehabilitación tiene. ¿Es posible la recuperación de la imagen de las constructoras tras el deterioro sufrido durante la crisis?

Las empresas constructoras tienen un problema relacionado con la financiación. Ha habido grandes grupos en los que se mezclaba construcción y promoción… y los bancos han terminado por no diferenciar.

Además, estas uniones han terminado desarrollando un problema con los estándares de calidad.

Si se quiere apostar por el

empleo es importante que se incremente la inversión en obra pública, como ya está sucediendo. La construcción es de las actividades industriales que

más mano de obra requieren ,ya que ponen en marcha empleos directos y los procedentes de las empresas auxiliares. No se puede despreciar este sector.

Rivervial has built a new beach restaurant in Manilva. Are these major projects for you?

Indeed they are, and we have also completed many other projects of this type, such as the beach restaurants on La Malagueta promenade and the one situated in Guadalmar. Rivervial supports this sector fully, in fact we had a stand at the Hostelequip fair and whenever we can we collaborate with the industry.

This is a sector, for us, in which we are highly specialized. In fact, in several provinces we are advising various architectural studies into the development and construction of basements, something new to the sector and in which, due to lack of space above ground, refrigeration chambers, locker rooms etc are being installed...

The goal, and we are getting there, is to match all other restaurants in

Tres nuevas medallas para el Club Internacional “Andaluzía” en el VIII Torneo De Esgrima organizado por la Asociación Gerónimo de Carranza en Chiclana El Club Internacional de esgrima de Estepona participó en una nueva competición de esgrima organizada por la Asociación Gerónimo Sánchez de Carranza coincidiendo con el torneo nacional de sable con gran cantidad de participantes de toda España.

Las categorías fueron divididas en esgrimistas menores de 15, 17, 20 años y absolutos en el polideportivo gaditano Ciudad de Chiclana.

Doce tiradores del Club “AndaluZía” participaron en la competición.

En la categoría masculina de menores de 15 años Hamish Kamaie consiguió medalla de plata y Henry Shields medalla de bronce en categoría de menores de 20 años con tan solo 15 años.

En categoría M-17 obtuvieron un meritorio quinto puesto Hamish Kamaie y Nadia Ayala, así como Anastasia Pantina en su primera competición con el Club.

Destaca la magnífica competición realizada por Efraim Carrión con solo 11 años en el grupo de deportistas de menores de 15 años a un paso de las medallas y Noelia

Three medals for Estepona’s “AndaluZía” International Fencing Club at the VIII Fencing Tournament in Chiclana Estepona’s International Fencing Club took part new fencing competition organized by the Gerónimo de Carranza Association in Chiclana coinciding with the national sabre tournament with a large number of competitors from across Spain. The categories were under 15, U17, U20 and Seniors.

Estepona’s “AndaluZía” International Fencing Club fielded a team of twelve fencers. In the men's under 15 Hamish Kamaie took the silver medal and 15 year old Henry Shields won bronze in the under 20s despite his youth.

In category M-17 achieved a creditable fifth Hamish Kamaie achieved a creditable fifth and Nadia Ayala and Anastasia Pantina performed well in their first competition with the Club.

Special mention should go to Efraim Carrión who with just 11 years came close to a medal in the under 15s as did Noelia Tejera Puga who just missed out from winning in the last moments of the competition.

The seniors were represented by a large group of top class fencers. In women’s section Maria Maldonado and Joanna Kustra were both finalists and Juanjo Esquivel, Chris Kelly, Adrian Agustyn and Alberto Zerrada, all performed well in the Men’s, the latter getting the bronze medal.

En la provincia de Málaga esta celebración religiosa ha alcanzado una gran importancia cultural. Sus municipios se vuelcan con la que, para muchos, es su Semana Grande, unos días en los que decenas de cofradías recuerdan la vida y, sobre todo, Pasión de Jesús.

Cada localidad vive la Semana Santa con sus propias particularidades. Incluso, un municipio en concreto pueden tener una Semana Santa muy distinta de la su propio vecino. Life begins at 40.....or does it?

I have had many female clients approach me recently stressed about their bodies, mainly those over 40 approaching menopause and all with the same 2 complaints: Why do I feel so rubbish and why am I getting fat?

Menopausal fat is not very pleasant, Not only does it pile on the lbs in all of the wrong places, like your belly, hips, thighs and butt, but it gets stuck, becoming almost impossible to get rid of.

And no matter how little you eat or how much you exercise none of it seems to make an OUNCE of difference.

So here is a quick biology lesson and hopefully some tips in assisting our body get rid of that extra unwanted fat.

cortisol, guess what? Your body must steal it from progesterone!

So down go your progesterone levels.

Since the downside to lower progesterone is lower thyroid function, which will lower your bodies natural metabolism, once again fat starts to accumulate.

So what can you do?

There are 3 main ways of shedding the extra fat that has accumulated on your belly, hips, thighs and butt, and addressing estrogen dominance:

First, Clean up your hormones

What is happening?

Menopausal Fat is all about estrogen dominance.

Estrogen -- along with its counterbalancing hormone progesterone -- are the reproductive hormones that allow women to be fertile and bear children.

Normally they're balanced by your brain's hormone control central -the hypothalamus.

But the hypothalamus often gets confused... estrogen goes UP, progesterone goes DOWN, and you become estrogen dominant.

When you're estrogen dominant, it not only commands your body to deposit fat SPECIFICALLY on your thighs, hips and butt, it also orders your fat cells to grow AND multiply!

Worse, because estrogen blocks your thyroid while progesterone stimulates it, too much estrogen and not enough progesterone is like taking your foot off your metabolic gas pedal AND then slamming on the brakes at the same time!

You can counteract this estrogeninduced metabolic slowdown. But first, let's look at the 3 reasons for estrogen dominance...

The reason why?

The primary cause of estrogen dominance -- is aging.

As you age past 30, you ovulate fewer and fewer months of the year, until ovulation disappears completely by, on average, age 52.

That's important, because when-

ever a woman ovulates, progesterone surges, counter-acting the estrogen surge that happens prior to ovulation, so fat-making and fatburning stays in balance.

But as you age and ovulation starts to decrease, you get fewer thyroid-stimulating progesterone surges, leaving relatively more thyroid-blocking estrogen doing its dirty work!

The second cause of estrogen dominance is the 80,000+ chemicals released into the environment over the past few decades -- from pesticides, plastics, food additives, and chemical-filled personal and household products.

Once some of these frankinsteinchemicals infiltrate your body, they can mimic the effects of thyroidblocking estrogen, wreaking havoc on your fat-burning ability.

This is NOT some scare tactic -scientists have documented that some male fish found in our lakes and rivers are actually CHANGING into females from all the excess fake estrogen they are absorbing.

Reduce your exposure to fat-loss blocking fake estrogens, such as processed foods, high sugar products, eat as much organic fresh product as possible.

Insulin.

Most people struggle with it, not just diabetics and the over weight This is something that we want to control at all costs, when out of control it encourages your body to store fat and shutting down the hormone that says shed it.

Insulin helps your body process the glucose that the carbs and sugars you eat turn into. But most people eat WAY too many carbs and sugar for the body to handle. That causes insulin levels stay TOO high for TOO long and your cells become deaf to their signals. Your body is then forced to crank out more and more insulin and that’s where the fat MAKING effects of this hormone kick into overdrive.

Insulin tells your liver to turn the calories you eat directly into fat while at the SAME time commands your fat cells to hold on to the fat that’s trapped inside.

The solution is to dramatically reduce the amount of sugar and carbs you eat. No more soft drinks, get rid of the pasta, the pizza, the bread, the potatoes and anything else that quickly turns into sugar, look at eating a low GI diet, preferably a low acidity one. also coordinates with other hormones (like thyroid) to burn fat. So once you become leptin resistant, you become fat loss resistant! If you’ve ever tried to lose fat and fallen short of your goals, that’s in part because you’ve become leptin resistant.

Frustratingly, we ALL become more leptin resistant as we age. But the major culprit behind the epidemic of leptin resistance is a destructive inflammatory molecule called c-reactive protein (CRP).

CRP blocks leptin from sending the “I’m full” and “burn fat” message to your brain, so you keep eating food, storing fat and your metabolism stays slow.

You can lower CRP by relaxing, getting more sleep, eating less sugar and detoxifying – but that can take a LONG time to work.

This forces your body to accumulate fat at a rapid pace. It also creates an enormously frustrating situation where no matter what you try to lose weight, the scale just won’t budge.

The secret lies with what may be THE most powerful fat burning hormone in your body . Leptin acts like a fuel gauge, telling your brain when you’re full so you can stop eating. But a number of factors cause your brain to stop responding to leptin’s “I’m full” message, so you keep eating, even though technically your belly is full. This is called leptin resistance.

When stressed, your body secretes a powerful hormone, cortisol, to help you deal with the stressful situation.

Make firm rules about your day to day life, schedule time for a rest away from the daily grind, such as a walk or time to read a book, reintroduce a proper bed time routine Draw firm boundaries and make time for yourself, learn how to relax and "un-busy" your schedule. This will keep your cortisol down and, therefore, your thyroid-stimulating progesterone up.
