Bienvenidos a la edición de abril de The Resident. Mientras la Espada de Damocles, en forma de Brexit, todavía se cierne sobre los cabezas de la comunidad británica en España, los ojos se vuelven hacia la política doméstica y seis semanas de elecciones con no solo una, ni dos, sino tres elecciones en el espacio de cuatro semanas!

En primer lugar están las Elecciones generales españolas, el domingo 28 de abril, con los ojos del mundo observando de cerca para ver si la extrema derecha sigue ganando terreno. Los británicos no votamos en este caso, por lo que el interés será puramente académico.

El final de mayo incluye tanto las Elecciones al Parlamento Europeo como las Elecciones locales, en ambas de las cuales sí podemos decir que estamos inscritos para votar. Me parece bastante irónico que los parlamentos europeos supuestamente antidemocráticos consideren oportuno dejarme votar, mientras que el Gobierno británico me rechazó la oportunidad de emitir mi voto en un referéndum con posibles efectos de gran alcance para mí y para mi familia, pero creo que ya lo he mencionado antes, más de una vez.

Las elecciones locales son el último domingo de mayo y no puedo enfatizar lo suficiente la importancia de que la comunidad extranjera ejerza su derecho al voto. Solo entonces merecemos el derecho de exigir una opinión en el funcionamiento de NUESTRA comunidad, no puedes exigir tus derechos si no ejerces tus responsabilidades.

En una nota más ligera este fin de semana es el comienzo de la Semana Santa de España, con procesiones y servicios en aldeas, pueblos y ciudades de toda España.

Bueno, eso es todo por este mes, ¡no comas demasiados huevos de chocolate ya que se acerca el verano y la playa pronto llamará!

As the Sword of Damocles, in the shape of Brexit, still hovers over the heads of the British community in Spain, eyes turn to domestic politics and six weeks of election fever with not one, nor two, but three elections in the space of four weeks!

First up is the Spanish General Election, on Sunday 28 April with eyes of world watching closely to see if the far right continue to gain ground. Us Brits don’t get to vote in this one, so interest will be purely academic.

The end of May brings both the European Parliamentary Elections and the Local Elections, both of which we do get a say in providing you are registered to vote. I find it quite ironic that the supposedly undemocratic European Parliaments sees fit to give me the vote, whilst the British Government refused me the opportunity to cast my vote in a referendum with potentially far reaching effects on me and my family, but I think I’ve mentioned that before - more than once.

The local elections are on the last Sunday of May, and I cannot stress enough the importance of the foreign community exercising their right to vote. It is only by doing so that we deserve the right to demand a say in the running of OUR community, you cannot demand your rights if you don’t exercise your responsibilities.

On a lighter note this weekend is the start of Semana Santa, the Spanish Easter Week, with processions and services in villages, towns and cities across Spain.

I’ve published details of processions in these pages, with more information available on the website at www.theresident.eu and on out Facebook page.

Well that’s it for this month, don’t eat too many chocolate eggs as summer is coming and the beach will soon be calling!

Casares celebra este fin de semana (13 y 14 de abril) su Feria Gastronómica Casares celebra este fin de semana la quinta edición de Degusta Casares, un fin de semana para disfrutar de Casares con la ruta de la tapa del chivo, mercado de productos alimenticios de la zona, recorrido por el casco histórico a través de actuaciones del fandango casareño, flamenco en directo, concurso de decoración de fachadas con macetas, y un novedosos programa de talleres para aprender elaboraciones tradicionales y sobre la naturaleza de Casares.

Degusta Casares ofrece una ocasión ideal para conocer Casares y disfrutar de su cultura y gastronomía que tiene como producto protagonista al chivo, ha señalado el alcalde, Pepe Carrasco.

Degusta Casares pretende poner en valor la riqueza y variedad de

la gastronomía y la cultura casareña al tiempo que se potencia el comercio local y de cercanía. La secretaria del CIT Casares ha indicado además, que en esta edición el programa de la Feria está dividido en cuatro partes que se complementan entre sí: la ruta de la tapa, el mercadillo de productos artesanales, la parte cultural que alberga talleres, conferencias y música en directo y los dos concursos de cocina tradicional y vanguardista.

Tagarninas con chivo, quesadilla morcilla de chivo, cazuela de chivo con garbanzos, chivo al ajillo, la brandy, en caldereta, en salsa, chuleta de cabrito, queso de cabra, morcilla de chivo con tomate o con cebolla son algunos de los platos que estarán presentes

durante este fin de semana en el menú de los bares, ventas y restaurantes locales que participan en la ruta de la tapa.

Junto a la oferta gastronómica, Degusta Casares, trae consigo un mercadillo en el Paseo de la Carrera con una veintena de puestos de productos alimenticios y artesanales de la zona, como aceites, chacina, quesos, cerveza artesanal, miel, vinos, jabones, turrones, helados innovadores, el puesto de dulces de Botika Educasaluss y barras con tapas y bebidas.Además habrá una zona infantil donde los niños podrán divertirse al cuidado de monitores, realizando actividades, y la carpa donde tendrá lugar los talleres.

Talleres de naturaleza y elaboraciones tradicionales Los talleres también son parte fundamental de la programación de esta Feria Gastronómica aportando una oportunidad para aprender elaboraciones tradicionales y sobre la naturaleza de Casares. Las personas interesadas pueden inscribirse el mismo día, con antelación a la celebración de la actividad en la mesa informativa de la carpa del Paseo de la Carrera.

A las 12 del medio día del sábado se ofrece un taller de elaboración de miel por el apicultor local Nicolás Castañeda, al que seguirá a las 12.45 otro sobre fabricación de velas. El mismo sábado, a las 13.00 horas, el joven fotógrafo local Andrés Rojas Sánchez hablará sobre “Las aves del cielo de Casares”; y ya por la tarde , a las 16.30, habrá un taller de elaboración de quesos por

Juan Ocaña de Quesería Sierra Crestellina.

Las propuestas explicativas continúan el domingo a las 11.30 con David Chapman que ofrece un taller sobre Cocina Solar; seguidamente, a las 12 del mediodía será la presentación de la Guía de Libélulas de Casares, y a las 16.30 horas un taller sobre aceites esenciales en la higiene y la cosmética por Ely Lozano.

Casares celebrates its Culinary Fair this weekend (13 and 14 April)

Degusta Casares también cuenta con un escenario en la Plaza de España donde el sábado a las 18.00 horas actuará el grupo Etiqueta Negra, y el domingo un cuadro flamenco con Eva Cabrera y Javier Pineda.

Además de la ruta del Fandango Casareño, un espectáculo con música y baile en directo de la Panda Fandanguera de Casares y la Escuela Municipal de Baile os que incluyen representación de la fiesta tradicional del fandango casareños por diferentes rincones emblemáticos del casco histórico.

El programa lo completan los concursos de cocina con premios de 300 euros cada uno, para estimular a los participantes en la recuperación de recetas tradicionales, o bien innovando en la creación de recetas de la nueva cocina. El de cocina libre será el sábado por la mañana en la cocina de la calle Carrera; y el de cocina tradicional el domingo a las 13.30 en la Carrera.

Además, a lo largo del fin de semana tendrá lugar del concurso de fachadas y callejones decorados con plantas y macetas, que ofrece un recorrido el casco histórico para disfrutar de las calle más bellas del casco histórico.

Casares celebrates the fifth edition of Degusta Casares, a weekend to enjoy Casares with a Tapas Route, local food market, tour of the historic town centre, along with performances of the Fandango casareño, live flamenco, floral decoration contest, and a novel programme of workshops to learn traditional food preparation and about the nature of Casares.

Degusta Casares offers an ideal opportunity to get to know Casares and enjoy its culture and cuisine that features the goat as its main ingredient, said the mayor, Pepe Carrasco.

Degusta Casares showcases the richness and variety of local cuisine and culture whilst enhancing local commerce in the area. The Secretary of CIT Casares has also indicated that in this edition the Fair’s programme is divided into four parts that complement each other: the Tapas Route, the handicraft market, the cultural section with its various workshops, conferences and live music and two competitions of traditional and avant-garde cuisine.

Tagarninas with goat, quesadilla, black pudding, goat stew with chickpeas, goat stew with garlic and brandy sauce, kid chops, goat cheese, black pudding with tomato or onion are some of the dishes that will be available to sample during this weekend in the local bars and

restaurants that participate in the Tapas Route.

Along with the gastronomic offerings, Degusta Casares, brings with it a market in the Paseo de la Carrera with a score of food and artisanal stalls, including olive oils, cured meats, cheeses, craft beer, honey, wines, soaps, nougat, innovative ice cream, the Botika Educasaluss sweet stand and bars with tapas and drinks.

There will also be a children's area where children can have fun in the care of supervisor, doing activities, and the tent where the workshops will take place.

Workshops The workshops are also a fundamental part of the programming of this Gastronomic Fair, providing an opportunity to learn traditional recipes and the nature of Casares.

Those interested can register the same day, in advance of the activity at the information table in the marquee

in Paseo de la Carrera.

At 12 noon on Saturday, a honeymaking workshop is presented by the local beekeeper Nicolás Castañeda, followed at 12.45 pm with another on the manufacture of candles. On the same Saturday, at 1 pm, the young local photographer Andrés Rojas Sánchez will speak about "Birds of Casares"; and in the afternoon, at 4.30 pm, there will be a cheese making workshop by Juan Ocaña from Quesería Sierra Crestellina.

Workshops continue on Sunday at 11.30 am with David Chapman offering a workshop on Solar Cooking; Then, at 12 noon there will be the presentation of the Casares Dragonfly Guide, and at 4.30 pm a workshop on essential oils in hygiene and cosmetics by Ely Lozano.

The programme is completed by cooking competitions with prizes of 300 euros each, to encourage participants to reproduce traditional recipes, or to innovate in the creation of recipes for the new cuisine.

The open kitchen will be Saturday morning in the kitchen in calle Carrera; and the traditional cuisine on Sunday at 1.30 in calle Carrera.

In addition, throughout the weekend the contest of decorated facades and alleys with plants and pots, which offers a tour of the historic town centre to enjoy its most beautiful streets.

SOS Mediterráneo y el Ayuntamiento de Casares organizan un nuevo curso de Salvamento y Socorrismo La empresa local SosMediterraneo y la Concejalía de Juventud y Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Casares vuelven a organizar este año un Curso de Salvamento, Socorrismo y Primeros Auxilios. El taller, que esta edición incluye formación sobre el uso de desfibrilador, se celebrará en la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Casares Costa todos los fines de semana desde el 27 de abril al 26 de mayo. Las inscripciones se pueden realizar ya enviando un mail a la dirección alexsosmediterraneo@gmail. com o por teléfono en el 651 110 152.

Los alumnos de este curso aprenderán nociones de Anatomía Teoría de Primeros Auxilios y Salvamento Acuático, Soporte Vital Básico y Psicología Aplicada

al salvamento. La parte teórica se complementa con jornadas prácticas que este año se realizarán en Playa Ancha.

Para obtener el título de socorrista, los asistentes deberán superar pruebas de salvamento con ropa, rescate con aletas, y pruebas combinadas con buceo, desplazamiento terrestre y material de salvamento, rastreo y rescate de maniquí.

El precio del curso es de 270 euros.

Los participantes aptos conseguirán un título acreditativo de la Consejería de Salud de la Junta de Andalucía y serán incluidos en la Bolsa de Empleo de SOSMEDITERRANEO, que cuenta con una tasa de empleo del 90 por ciento en ediciones anteriores del curso.

SOS Mediterranean and theTown Council of Casares organize a new Lifesaving course The local company SosMediterraneo and the Casares Council’s Department of Youth and Sports are once again organizing a Lifesaving and First Aid Course this year. The workshop, which in this edition includes training on the use of defibrillator, will be held at the Council offices on Casares Costa every weekend from April 27 to May 26. Registration can be made by sending an email to alexsosmediterraneo@ gmail.com or by phone at 651 110 152.

The students of this course will learn First Aid Theory and Aquatic Rescue, Basic Life Support and Applied Rescue Psychology. The theoreti-

cal part is complemented with practical sessions that this year will be held at Playa Ancha.

To obtain the title of lifeguard, attendees must pass salvage tests with clothing, finned rescue, and combined tests with diving, ground travel and salvage equipment, tracking and mannequin rescue. The cost of the course is 270 €.

Successful participants will obtain a certificate of accreditation from the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía and will be included in the SOSMEDITERRANEO Employment Exchange, which has a 90 percent employment rate in previous editions of the course.

El Ayuntamiento pone en funcionamiento el Estadio de Atletismo y el aparcamiento de 1.000 plazas Estepona Athletics Stadium now in operation

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha puesto en funcionamiento el Estadio de Atletismo con la realización de la Carrera Urbana 10 KM, que tuvo lugar recientemente en la ciudad.

El nuevo equipamiento deportivo cuenta con una pista de atletismo de 16.488 metros cuadrados, un aparcamiento de dos plantas para un millar de plazas e instalaciones anejas de locales, con un total de 3.000 metros cuadrados de superficie, que estarán destinados a futuros usos culturales-deportivos.

El espacio permite la práctica de todas las disciplinas de

lanzamiento (disco, jabalina, martilla y peso), de salto (altura y pértiga), y carreras.

Además, incluye un campo de fútbol y dos de fútbol 7, permitiendo una gran polivalencia de usos.

El área de actuación sobre el que se está desarrollando este proyecto comprende un total de 34.182 metros cuadrados, de ellos, casi 20.000 metros cuadrados serán de zonas ajardinadas. El equipamiento deportivo queda conectado con el Auditorio Felipe VI y con el Parque Ferial y Deportivo. Las nuevas instalaciones amplían la oferta

deportiva para profesionales, al estar homologado para competiciones oficiales, y aficionados.

Este Estadio de Atletismo contribuye a la consolidación de esta zona norte de la ciudad como la gran área deportiva y lúdica dentro de Estepona, consiguiendo con esta actuación complementar la oferta de ocio y dotar de aparcamientos a los usos que se desarrollan en el entorno, tales como el Parque Ferial y Deportivo, el campo de fútbol Muñoz Pérez, el Auditorio Felipe VI y el circuito de karting

Estepona Town Council organised its first event at the new Athletics Stadium with the staging of the 10 KM Urban Race, which took place recently.

The new sports facility has a track of 16,488 square meters, a twostorey car park for a thousand vehicles and facilities attached to premises, with a total of 3,000 square meters, which will be used for future cultural-sporting uses.

The space allows the practice of all the disciplines of throwing (discus, javelin, hammer and weight), jumping (high and pole vault), and racing. In addition, it includes a football field and two football 7 pitches, allowing a great versatility of uses.

The project is developed over an area of 34,182 square meters, of which almost 20,000 square

meters will be landscaped areas.

This sports facility is connected to the Felipe VI Auditorium and the Feria and Sports Park.

El teniente alcalde del área Sociocultural y Servicios, Blas Ruzafa, y el gerente de la plaza de toros, José Luís Lara, han presentado las primeras actuaciones confirmadas que tendrán lugar durante este verano en la plaza de toros de Estepona. El responsable del coso taurino ha adelantado que el programa para la temporada estival estará conformado por una veintena de espectáculos de diferentes

estilos musicales como el rock o el flamenco.

A ese respecto, ha señalado que ya están confirmadas las fechas de tres grandes conciertos que se celebrarán en el mes de agosto. La sevillana Pastora Soler, una de las voces más queridas de nuestro país, presentará su último disco ‘La Calma’ el 14 de agosto; mientras que el público más joven tendrá su noche con la actuación

del grupo más importante del momento, ‘Adexe & Nau’, que actuarán el 9 de agosto en el coso taurino. A estas actuaciones hay que añadir el espectáculo de la bailaora Sara Baras, que tras triunfar en escenarios de medio mundo, recalará en Estepona el 10 de agosto para presentar su gira ‘Sombras’.

Blas Ruzafa ha valorado el trabajo realizado por la concesionaria de la plaza de toros por ofrecer espectáculos de diferentes disciplinas y de calidad durante la temporada estival, lo que supondrá “un gran salto de calidad” en la oferta de ocio del municipio.

Por su parte el gerente de la plaza de toros, José Luís Lara, ha explicado que estos son tres de los grandes conciertos que se celebrarán este verano en la plaza de toros y que estarán dirigidos a diferentes públicos.

José Luís Lara ha adelantado que ya se pueden comprar las entradas para el concierto de Adexe & Nau en El Corte Inglés. Asimismo, ha indicado que se va a instalar un kiosco en el paseo marítimo (de 18 a 22 horas) para información y venta de entradas. También podrán adquirirse a través de la web www.emelleventos.es .

El edil ha señalado también que la programación de la plaza de toros se completará con la del Verano Cultural organizado por el propio Ayuntamiento y con los eventos que se lleven a cabo en el Auditorio Felipe VI.

Estepona amplía la instalación de desfibriladores con un total de 15 dispositivos El Ayuntamiento de Estepona ha instalado dos nuevos desfribiliadores en otros dos edificios públicos, concretamente en las dependencias de la delegación de Bienestar Social y en el Estadio de Atletismo. La teniente alcalde del área de Personal y Gestión de Recursos, Pilar Fernández-Fígares, ha declarado que con estos dos dispositivos se han instalado ya 15 desfibriladores en distintos espacios públicos.

Estos dispositivos de emergencia vital se encuentran ubicados en los polideportivos del Carmen, La Lobilla, Santo Tomás de Aquino y Cancelada; en el campo de fútbol ‘San Fernando’ y el estadio municipal ‘Francisco Muñoz Pérez’. También en las instalaciones municipales de Puertosol, Delegaciones de Comercio, Jefatura de Policía Local y el centro cultural Padre Manuel.

Asimismo, Fernández-Fígares ha destacado que además de estos edificios públicos, la ciudad dispone de tres coches patrulla de la Policía Local con un desfibrilador; de forma que se puede atender en todo momento cualquier emergencia que ocurra en la vía pública y en eventos.

Por otra parte, el Ayuntamiento a través de su departamento de Riesgos Laborales ha formado ya en el uso de desfibriladores y técnicas de primeros auxilios a más de 200 trabajadores municipales. En la actualidad se siguen realizando estos cursos con la intención de formar a la totalidad de la plantilla municipal.

En caso de que sea necesario utilizar el desfibrilador éste no reemplazará a los sanitarios; sino que permitirá atender a la persona infartada o que presente algún problema de corazón mientras un médico y los servicios de emergencia llegan hasta el lugar.

The Councillor for Personnel and Resources Management department, Pilar Fernández-Fígares, has stated that with these two devices, a total of 15 defibrillators have already been installed in various public spaces.

These vital emergency devices are located in the sports centres of El Carmen, La Lobilla, Santo Tomás de Aquino and Cancelada; in the 'San Fernando' Football Pitch and the

'Francisco Muñoz Pérez' Football Stadium. Also in the Puertosol Council Offices, Trade Delegations, Local Police Headquarters and the Padre Manuel cultural centre.

Councillor Fernández-Fígares has stressed that in addition to these public buildings, the town has three Local Police patrol cars equipped with a defibrillator; so that any emergency that occurs on public roads and at events can be attended at all times.

The Town Council has also, through its Occupational Risks department, already trained more than 200 municipal workers in the use of

defibrillators and first aid techniques.

Currently, these courses are still being held with the intention of training the entire municipal staff. In case it is necessary to use the defibrillator it will not replace the emergency services; it will allow the sufferer to be instantly attended to whilst a doctor and the emergency services arrive.

El Ayuntamiento organiza un concierto de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga a beneficio de la Plataforma para la Promoción del Voluntariado de Estepona El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que ha organizado un concierto de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga (OFM) cuyos fondos irán destinados íntegramente a beneficio de la Plataforma para la Promoción del Voluntariado de Estepona.

Este espectáculo solidario, que estará bajo la batuta del director del Coro de Ópera de Málaga, Salvador Vázquez, tendrá lugar el próximo sábado, 13 de abril, en el Auditorio Felipe VI, a las 20.00 horas de la tarde.

Las entradas, que tendrán un coste de 10 euros, se pueden adquirir en la sede de la Plataforma del Voluntariado, que se encuentra en el Centro Entre Todos de la barriada Solís, en la oficina de La

El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que el Auditorio Felipe VI acogerá el domingo, 28 de abril, el ballet clásico ‘El lago de los cisnes’ interpretado por el ballet de Moscú. Se trata de una de las obras más universales del ballet clásico. Una pieza magistral de Tchaikovsky que bajo la dirección de Timur Fayziev interpretarán dos solistas de una gran solvencia y trayectoria: Cristina Terentiev y Oleksandr Petrichenko. La obra narra la historia del príncipe Sigfrido que se enamora de la bella princesa Odette, hechizada por un malvado brujo que la convierte en cisne-mujer. La fuerza del amor que sienten los jóvenes les liberará de todo maleficio.

Tras haber recorrido gran parte del mundo y retirarse de los escenarios, Timuer Fayziev decidió fundar su propia academia de formación de bailarines y pronto se encontró con la necesidad de dar continuidad profesional a los estudiantes de su academia. Con tan solo nueve años de recorrido, la compañía realizó giras por Japón, Inglaterra, España, Irlanda, Alemania, Tailandia o Suiza, entre otros países.

Compromiso Manilva ha celebrado esta semana su Asamblea Local en la que se ha aprobado por unanimidad la candidatura para las elecciones locales del 26M propuesta por el Comité Electoral.

Una lista que encabezará el actual alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, y que le acompañará en su camino para repetir en la alcaldía manilveña.

Jiménez ha destacado que “contamos con el mejor equipo, con la candidatura que Manilva merece.

recursos públicos”, matizó.

Jiménez también ha señalado que “tenemos la ventaja de que no tenemos que decir lo que queremos hacer en Manilva, sino que lo hemos hecho y lo queremos seguir haciendo.

Hemos confeccionado una candidatura para gobernar al día después de las elecciones y seguir mejorando nuestro pueblo”.

El candidato de Compromiso Manilva también ha aprovechado la ocasión para agradecer el trabajo, el comportamiento, y la comprensión de los compañeros que se han quedado fuera de la lista, “no ha sido una tarea sencilla su confección”.

Respecto a la campaña electoral, Jiménez ha avanzado que “nos vamos a centrar únicamente en dar a conocer a nuestros vecinos las propuestas de gobierno para que Manilva siga avanzado.

Fischer's Australian Beach Cafe and Bar opens with charity Chilli Burger Challenge

Natasha and Brendan Fischer have launched their new venture, Fischer's Australian Beach Cafe and Bar, just off the Paseo in Sabinillas, and to get things going they challenged four well-known locals to a Chilli Burger Challenge.

Programa de la Semana Cultural de Manilva La delegación de Cultura, dirigida por Eva Galindo, ha preparado un ambicioso y completo programa para la Semana Cultural en nuestra localidad, que se llevará a cabo desde 23 al 30 de abril.

El programa está estructurado de la siguiente manera: DÍA 23 ABRIL Para festejar el día de la lectura, cuya onomástica se celebra el día 23 de Abril, la Delegación de Cultura llevará a cabo en las instalaciones de Civima un espectáculo-homenaje a la literatura española.

Por ello, tendrá lugar el espectáculo titulado: Antonio Machado, "Tras las huellas del poeta"; un espectáculo del grupo Sub27. Este grupo está formado por profesores y alumnos del IES Las Viñas y surge con el ánimo de recordar y mostrar la vida y la obra de escritores, poetas y músicos, que han dejado huella, de un modo u otro, en su recorrido.

La representación es muy polifacética en cuanto a la mezcla de la poesía y música. La función tiene poesía original del poeta y adaptaciones musicales de Joan Manuel Serrat, así como otros temas y composiciones propias de algunos de los miembros de esta agrupación.

También se celebrará el día de la lectura en los centros escolares del municipio; Para ello, la Delegación de Cultura pondrá a disposición de los distintos colegios una obra de teatro,titulada las hermanas

DirtyClin protagonizada y dirigida por la Escuela Municipal de Teatro de Manilva, que tendrá lugar durante los días 24 y 25 de abril en horario de mañana en las instalaciones de Civima. A esta representación acudirán los alumnos de primaria de primer a cuarto curso.

Los alumnos de quinto y sexto participarán en un concurso de poesía libre, cuyos premios se entregarán en Civima justo antes de la representación teatral del grupo Sub27.

DÍA 24 ABRIL DÍA 25 ABRIL El día 24 le toca el turno a la fotografía y otras disciplinas artísticas como el graffity o la pintura en fusión con la danza. Se trata de una jornada multidisciplinar, que se llevará a cabo en el entorno del parque de Villa Matilde.

Por un lado, Charo Martín interpretará una performance titulada (atrapadas); un nuevo espectáculo creado por esta artista y con la colaboración de Fine Art Eneri, sobre la espera, la esperanza y la búsqueda de nuevos caminos e ilusiones.

Este día se completa con otras actividades como el Graffity o la fotografía. Para ello, Villa Matilde se convertirá en una sala de exposiciones para albergar los trabajos fotográficos de Carlos Aguilar.

El día 25 de Abril se dedicará a las artes escénicas, utilizando como hilo conductor la Escuela Municipal de Teatro de Manilva.

Todos sus integrantes adultos pondrán en escena una arriesgada propuesta. Se trata de una representación, que se llevará a cabo en las instalaciones de Civima a las 20:30 h. La obra se titula "Cumpleaños", y como su nombre bien indica se trata de un pequeño homenaje a esta escuela de interpretación, a sus alumnos, a su profesora, etc...que cumple cinco año y que mejor manera de festejarlo, que representando.

Cabe recordar que este día junto con el día 24 de abril se celebrará también una representación infantil para los alumnos de primaria de los distintos centros escolares. La obra se titula las hermanas Dirtyclin, que son dos gemelas muy diferentes.

DÍA 26 ABRIL La Semana Cultura también dedica un día al genero musical del Jazz. Y para ello, el jueves día 25 de abril tendrá lugar en la Casa de los Torres un concierto de Jazz, del grupo Latin Jazz Quintet con Alejandro Antiñolo a la cabeza; se trata de un ensemble formado por músicos arraigados en diferentes estilos; una combinación de Jazz, Latín y música clásica y músicas del mundo en las que cabe destacar la música India y el flamenco como inspiración.

DÍA 30 ABRIL La Escuela Municipal de música y danza presentará un espectáculo con motivo del día de la Danza en el pabellón de Usos Múltiples de Manilva a las 20.00h. Actuarán las alumnas de las siguientes disciplinas: Contemporáneo, Clásico Español y Flamenco, con la colaboración de la Escuela de música que tocará algunos temas en directo. Bailarán "las Salinas" de Felipe Campuzano, la marcha turca, fandangos de Huelva, rumores de la caleta, entre otras piezas conocidas.

Manilva Cultural Week programme The delegation of Culture, directed

by Eva Galindo, has prepared an ambitious and comprehensive program for the Cultural Week in our town, which will take place from 23 to 30 April.

The program is structured as follows: 23 APRIL To celebrate World Book Day on April 23, the Delegation of Culture will present a tribute to Spanish literature at the Civima Wine Centre facilities.

The show entitled: Antonio Machado, "In the footsteps of the poet" will take will be presented by the group Sub27. This group is made up of professors and students of the IES Las Viñas with the aim of remembering and showing the life and work of writers, poets and musicians, who have left their mark, in one way or another, on their journey.

The representation is very versatile in terms of the mixture of poetry and music. The presentation features original poetry and musical adaptations of the works of Joan Manuel Serrat, as well as other themes and compositions of some of the members of this group.

It is worth remembering that this day, as on April 24, a children's performance will be held for elementary students from the different schools.

The work is titled Dirtyclin Sisters, who are two very different twins.

26 APRIL Cultural Week also dedicates one day to the musical genre of Jazz. And for that, on Thursday, April 25, a Jazz concert by the Latin Jazz Quintet group with Alejandro Antiñolo will take place at the Casa de los Torres; it is an ensemble made up of musicians rooted in different styles; a combination of Jazz, Latin and classical music and world music in which Indian music and flamenco stand out as inspiration.

30 APRIL The Municipal School of Music and Dance will present a show on the occasion of the Day of Dance in the Multi Use Pavilion of Manilva at 8 pm.

The students of the following disciplines will perform: Contemporary, Classical Spanish and Flamenco, with the collaboration of the Music School that will play some live songs. They will dance "Las Salinas" by Felipe Campuzano, the Turkish march, fandangos de Huelva, rumores de la caleta, among other known pieces.

La IV Feria Del Perro se celebrará este sábado Agustín Vargas, concejal de Deportes, afronta con ilusión y ganas la IV Feria del Perro, que se llevará a cabo este sábado 13 de abril en la plaza Martín Carpena en Manilva.

El conocido grupo onubense Los Requiebros y El Cabrero son los artistas destacados y que pondrán la nota musical al evento. Con 30 años de carrera y numerosos éxitos, el ahora dueto interpretará estilos como rumbas, pasodobles, fandangos de Huelva, canción ligera y hasta boleros, pero sobre todo sevillanas. En cuanto a una de las máximas figuras del cante hondo, José Domínguez Muñoz, El Cabrero, en su año de retirada, ofrecerá su repertorio al público asistente.

Manuel Picón y el Grupo Cultura también expondrán mucho arte con sus canciones.

Como siempre, la Asociación de cazadores "Los Madroñales" colabora en la organización de la feria del perro, recibiendo el agradecimiento municipal.

NILVA, Medalla de Oro en el Concurso Nacional de Vinos Monovarietales El vino NILVA 2017, blanco seco, Moscatel de Alejandría, elaborado por NILVA ENOTURISMO SL en Manilva (Málaga), ha obtenido por segundo año consecutivo Medalla de Oro en la VI Edición de los Premios MONOVINO, el Concurso Oficial que premia los mejores vinos monovarietales del mercado. El concurso aboga por dar a conocer las particularidades y matices de los distintos viñedos nacionales, apostando por el varietal como un concepto universal para valorar la personalidad de un vino, algo que los consumidores cada vez tienen más en cuenta en sus decisiones de compra.

El pasado 21 de Febrero tuvo lugar en las instalaciones de la Escuela Española de Cata de Madrid la sesión de catas finales de los VI Premios MonoVino 2019. Este Concurso, organizado por Alamesa Wine & Beer Action Marketing, ha servido una vez más para poner en valor y galardonar a los mejores vinos elaborados con una única variedad de uva que se encuentran hoy día en el mercado. De hecho, estos Premios pueden presumir de ser, un año más,

el Concurso Oficial celebrado en nuestro país que acoge el mayor número de vinos producidos con distintos varietales.

NILVA takes the Gold Medal in the National Contest for Single Variety wines NILVA 2017, a dry white wine made from the Moscatel de Alejandría grape, and produced by Nilva Enoturismo SL in Manilva (Málaga), has for the second consecutive year won the Gold Medal in the VI Edition of the Monovino Awards, the Official Contest that awards the best monovarietal wines on the market.

The contest calls for making known the particularities and nuances of the different national vineyards, betting on the varietal as a universal concept to assess the personality of a wine, something that consumers are increasingly taking into account in their purchasing decisions.

Last 21st of February, the final tasting session of the VI MonoVino 2019 Awards took place in the facilities

of the Spanish School of Tasting in Madrid. This Contest, organized

by Alamesa Wine & Beer Action Marketing, has once again served to place value and award the best wines made with a unique variety of grapes that are now on the market. In fact, these Awards can boast of being, once again, the Official Contest held in our country that hosts the largest number of wines produced with different varietals.

Reaching the finals, in this 2019 edition, were a total of 152 wines, from 27 different producing regions and made with more than 30 different varieties. The Contest not only presents a large number of participating wines, which consolidates it as one of the top

¿Otra cuota? ¿Una Macro Comunidad? ¡¡Pero ya pago mis Cuotas Comunitarias!!

Todos sabemos cuánto tenemos que pagar de comunidad y porque se paga, sin embargo, la gran mayoría de las propiedades, especialmente en nuestra zona, también pertenecen a una Macro Comunidad (MC) o a una Entidad (EUC).

Cuando compró su vivienda, preguntó cuánto le costarían los suministros en nuestra zona, luego preguntó por el IBI, (si estas en Estepona, se paga aparte la recogida de Basura). Cada persona tiene que hacer su Declaración de la Renta anual done se incluye la propiedad y los No Residentes tienen que hacer el impuesto correspondiente, también con carácter Anual.

Luego vienen las Cuotas Comunitarias. A lo largo de los años, hemos tenido muchos propietarios extranjeros que no sabían que tenían que pagar cuotas Comunitarias. Habría que preguntarles si pensaban que los jardines los mantenían una cuadrilla de duendecillos invisibles!

Cuando ya controlabais todos estos datos y teníais las cuentas claras de lo que os iba a costar, de pronto un soleado día os llega una carta, en el mejor de los casos, o una notificación Judicial porque ´no os localizaban´, reclamándoos un importe desorbitado por las Cuotas pendientes de la Macro Comunidad o de la EUC (no te asustes que igual tienes suerte y eres de los pocos que no pertenecen a una Macro).

Tanto una Macro Comunidad como una Entidad -o EUC- se encargan del mantenimiento de las zonas externas, es decir, las zonas de fuera de su Comunidad que se comparten con otras Comunidades, caminos, calles, jardines, iluminación, etc. Estos no están incluidas en su Comunidad ni los cubre el IBI que pagáis, ya que los Ayuntamientos de nuestra zona no tienen capacidad financiera para soportar todos estos gastos, principalmente porque hay muy pocos empadronados en las viviendas, al ser de vacacionales, y por lo tanto no ingresan fondos

de las arcas generales del Estado. Tienen una razón de ser muy parecida, pero el fondo son muy distintos: • La Macro comunidad se constituye voluntariamente por las comunidades para cubrir unas necesidades especificas, para mantenimiento, contratación de seguridad, etc. Básicamente funcionan como cualquier Comunidad normal, pero suelen ser mucho más grandes. Los propietarios pueden tener derechos individuales de voto, pero generalmente el Presidente de cada comunidad representará su urbanización. Las Macro Comunidades deben tener Estatutos y se rigen por la Ley de Propiedad Horizontal - LPH. • La Entidad o EUC se parece a una Macro Comunidad en las acciones que toma, pero esto solo es superficial. Las entidades se constituyeron por el Ayuntamiento y el Promotor de la parcela, generalmente antes de que supiera ni cómo iba a ser el proyecto.

Los Estatutos se redactaron y publicaron en el BOE. Cada propietario pertenece a esta Entidad y no tiene forma de irse individualmente. El representante del Ayuntamiento tiene la tutela Administrativa, pero sin derecho a voto, y tiene la responsabilidad legal de asegurarse de que todas las decisiones tomadas cumplan con la Ley. Aquí vienen los 3 puntos principales que se deben tener en cuenta para las Entidades, sujeto a lo que recojan los Estatutos: 1. Las Entidades no están sujetas a la LPH, sino al Código Civil. caudación y ellos se encargan de la reclamación de los importes, por lo que es mucho fácil que para la Comunidad o Macro Comunidad, ya que las acciones legales no son necesarias.

I’m not happy with how it’s being run, so I’m not going to pay my Community fees!

By now you all know what your Community fees are and why you pay them, however, a vast majority of properties, especially in our area, also belong to a Macro Community (MC) or an Entity (EUC).

When you purchased your property, you asked how much the supplies were going to cost you - no, they are not included in your Community fees . Then you were told that your Council Tax is your IBI in Spain, and you have to pay this yearly, if you are in Estepona you also have to pay for the rubbish collection (Basura) – and no, these taxes do not cover the maintenance of the gardens in your Community. As well as these, you have to do a Resident Tax Declaration (Declaración de la Renta) or a non Resident Tax Declaration (Impuesto de No Residentes), depending on your status in Spain.

Then come your Community fees, we have had many owners over the years who did not know that they had to pay Community fees, maybe they thought that a team of invisible pixies did the work?

You have it all under control, all your finances and yearly costs worked out, the income from your rentals established and all tied down to the cent, then you receive a letter, in the best of cases, or a Court summons, because they ‘haven’t been able to locate you’

with a huge bill for Macro community or Entity fees (don’t panic, you might be one of the lucky ones who doesn’t belong to either!)

Both a Macro Community and an Entity -or EUC - are in charge of the maintenance of the external areas, these are the areas outside your Community that are shared with other Communities, roads, paths, gardens, lighting, etc. These costs aren’t included in your Community fees or Council taxes, the main reason is because the Local Town Hall’s don’t receive income from the Government for these properties as there is a very small percentage or permanent residents (Padron), so financially they cannot cope with the extra maintenance costs. They have a similar reason to be, but can be very different: • A Macro Community is entered voluntarily by the Communities who form it, to maintain the external areas, hire security, etc. They basically work like any normal Community, just much bigger. Sometimes individual owners will have the voting rights, but more frequently the President of each Community will represent his urbanization.

Macro Communities need to have Statutes or Bi-laws, and have to comply with the HPL – Horizontal Property Act. • The Entity or EUC may appear to function in a very similar way to a Macro Community, however, this is only on the surface. Entities were formed by the Town Hall and the original land owner, usually before your property was even on the drawing board.

The Statutes were written up and published on the official legal publication bulletin in Spain – BOE. Every owner belongs to this Entity and has no way of leaving individually. The Town Hall representative has a seat at on the Board, with no voting rights, but has the legal responsibility to make sure all the de-

cisions made are in compliance with the Law. Here come the 3 major pointers to be taken into account for Entities, please read the Statutes before taking actions in case they are more specific: 1. Entity’s are not bound by the HPL, they are bound by the Spanish Civil Code. So debtors can vote, EGM’s can not necessarily be called by 25% of Owners. The services to be provided are specified in the Statutes and cannot be increased or reduced without these statutes being modified.

2. A modification of the Statutes needs to be approved at a General Assembly, but then it needs to be presented at the Town Hall, approved in a Town Board Meeting by the majority of Councilors, and then duly published in the BOE and registered, prior to coming into effect.

3. The Entity does not have to take you to court if you do not pay the fees, they just inform the Tax office and the debt will be pursued, added to your IBI or tax bill, and registered by them – Patronato de Recaudación – so it is much easier for the Tax office to collect your unpaid fees than for a normal Community, as legal actions are not necessary.

And finally, back to Tourist properties, the legislation that was approved in December and thrown out in January, has just been approved again in March, but as we have general elections in Spain in April, we will wait until we hopefully have a more stable Main Government before writing about this particular item!!

Programas de Semana Santa de Manilva y Sabinillas Manilva La Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de Manilva, ha dado a conocer el amplio programa diseñado con motivo de la Semana Santa.

Este viernes 12 de abril a partir de la siete de la tarde, tendrá lugar la santa misa y a continuación se llevará a cabo la presentación de las nuevas marchas procesionales de la Banda Municipal de Música de Manilva, así como el pregón a cargo de Agustín Manuel Palma Infante.

El domingo de Ramos comenzará a las once de la mañana en la plaza de la iglesia con la bendición de las palmas y la santa misa, para que seguidamente dé comienzo la procesión de la borriquita.

El martes, a las ocho de la tarde en la Iglesia Santa Ana de Manilva, se llevará a cabo la XIV Noche de Exaltación a la Saeta manilveña.

La velada contará con Pepe Lara, Rafa Gómez, Nina Ledesma, Moisés Díaz “El Crespo”, Emi “La del Mellizo” y Pepe García.

El miércoles santo, a las once de la noche, se llevará cabo el Vía Crucis que comenzará en la Iglesia y recorrerá la calle Cuartel y el camino del Calvario.

El jueves santo, a las ocho de la tarde, se celebrará la Santa Misa y a las once de la noche dará inicio la procesión de Jesús Nazareno.

Esta partirá desde la Parroquia,

seguirá por la Plaza de la Iglesia y recorrerá las calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena, Mar, Álvarez Leiva, Duquesa y retornará al templo.

En cuanto al viernes santo, a las cinco de la tarde, tendrán lugar los Santos Oficios con la Adoración de la Cruz, durante el cual no sonarán las campanas.

A continuación, la procesión del Santo Entierro y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores partirá desde la Parroquia y recorrerá la Plaza de la Iglesia y las calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena, Mar, Álvarez Leiva, Duquesa y volverá al Templo.

La Bendición del Fuego en el atrio de la Iglesia y la celebración de la solemne Vigilia Pascual, se llevará a cabo el sábado santo a las once de la noche.

Ya el domingo de Pascua a las doce de la mañana será la Santa Misa a la que seguirá la procesión del Santísimo Cristo Resucitado y la Santísima Virgen del Rosario.

El Resucitado saldrá desde la Parroquia, seguirá por la Plaza de la Iglesia y continuará por las calles Cuartel, Cruces, Jimena y calle Mar. La Virgen del Rosario saldrá desde la Parroquia y proseguirá por calle Iglesia, Duquesa y calle Mar. Precisamente será en la calle Mar donde se produzca el esperado encuentro. Uno de los momentos más esperados por todos los fieles.

A continuación, ambas procesionarán hasta la Iglesia Santa Ana de Manilva.

Sabinillas En cuanto a la Semana Santa en San Luís de Sabinillas, comenzaban las actividades organizadas por la Hermandad del Cristo del Amor y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, con el pregón.

El Viernes de Dolores 12 de abril, a las cinco de la tarde, se realizará la Misa, imposición de medallas a los nuevos hermanos y besamanos en la parroquia de San Luis a partir de las cinco de la tarde.

El Domingo de Ramos, 14 de abril, a partir de las doce y media del mediodía, se celebrará en la plaza Costal del Sol, en la Barriada de los Pescadores, la Bendición de las palmas y olivos.

A continuación se oficiará una misa en la iglesia de Sabinillas.

El martes santo 16 de abril, se realizará una misa en honor del Cristo del Amor, con la imposición de la corona de espinas y besapies.

El jueves santo de pasión, tras la cena del señor, tendrá lugar el Vía Crucis, que recorrerá la plaza de la Iglesia, Marqués de Larios, Picasso, Duquesa de arcos y plaza de la Colonia. Tras ello se celebrará la hora santa.

El viernes 19 de abril, tendrán lugar los santos oficios y adoración a la santa cruz a partir de las cinco de la tarde.

A las nueve y media de la noche dará comienzo la procesión del Cristo de Amor y Nuestra Señora

de los Dolores, que partiendo de la plaza de la Colonia, recorrerá las calles Duquesa de Arcos, Picasso, Marqués de Larios y Plaza de la Iglesia.

El sábado santo a las nueve de la noche se desarrollará la vigilia pascual en la parroquia de San Luis, Por último, el domingo de

Resurrección, se celebrará la santa misa a partir de las diez y media de la mañana, para una hora más tarde, procesionar al Resucitado y la virgen de la Alegría, cuyas imágenes partirán de la plaza de la Iglesia, para recorrer las plaza de Salvador Rueda, calles Duquesa de Arcos, Picasso, Marqués de Larios y vuelta a plaza de la Iglesia.

Easter Week Programme for Manilva and Sabinillas Manilva The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Father Jesus Nazareno de Manilva, has announced the extensive program designed to mark Holy Week.

This Friday, April 12 from seven in the afternoon, the Holy Mass will take place followed by the presentation of the new processional marches by the Manilva Town Band, along with the opening speech by Agustín Manuel Palma Infante.

Palm Sunday will begin at 11 am in the church square with the blessing of the palms and a holy mass, followed by the ‘Borriquita’ procession.

10 PUNTOS IMPORTANTES A TENER EN CUENTA SI RECIBES UNA HERENCIA Y ERES UN EXPATRIADO (UN EXTRANJERO QUE VIVE PERMANENTEMENTE EN ANDALUCÍA).

1. Si vives en Andalucía durante más de 183 días al año deberías hacerte residente fiscal en España.

2. Los países de residencia del fallecido y del beneficiario son puntos clave que decidirán dónde se pagará el impuesto de sucesiones, por ejemplo, en la Delegación de Hacienda de Andalucía (en el caso de los residentes en Andalucía) o en la Agencia Tributaria en Madrid (en el caso de los no residentes).

3. Las leyes aplicables a una herencia (en cuanto a distribución de bienes) serán las del país de donde fuera nacional el fallecido, es decir, en el caso de un británico, serán las leyes británicas las que se aplicarán.

4. Si usted posee bienes en España (por ejemplo, propiedades inmobiliarias, fondos en cuentas bancarias, acciones, vehículos, etc) es recomendable que firme un testamento español para la distribución de esos bienes. Con esto, las cosas serán más fáciles, baratas y rápidas para sus parientes si le sucede algo.

5. El testamento español se respetará al 100% siempre y cuando cumpla las leyes de su país de nacionalidad.

Para ello, es importante buscar asesoramiento a la hora de redactarlo.

6. Si recibe una herencia y es usted residente fiscal en España, los impuestos de sucesiones (si existen) tendrán que pagarse en España; incluso si

los bienes heredados se encuentran fuera de nuestro país.

7. En Andalucía, cuando la herencia tiene lugar entre familiares directos (esposos e hijos) hay desgravaciones de hasta 1.000.000 euros por heredero.Esto es aplicable a residentes en Andalucía y europeos. Por lo tanto, en la mayoría de los casos no hay que pagar impuesto de sucesiones.

8. La declaración de impuestos de una herencia debe presentarse en los seis meses siguientes al fallecimiento.

9. La transmisión de la titularidad de las propiedades del fallecido no es automática y es obligatorio llevar a cabo gestiones legales y fiscales complicadas (por ejemplo, obtener un certificado del ultimo testamento, firmar la escritura de herencia frente a un Notario, presentar los Impuestos, etc.).

Es muy recomendable buscar el consejo y la ayuda profesional de un abogado.

10. Cuando se recibe una herencia en España, no sólo se heredan los bienes sino también las deudas, por lo que este punto debe revisarse antes de aceptar la herencia para evitar que este asunto se convierta en una pesadilla. ¡Las deudas podrían ser mayores que los bienes!

10 IMPORTANT INHERITANCE ISSUES TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT IF YOU ARE AN EXPAT IN ANDALUCIA (A FOREIGNER LIVING PERMANENTLY IN ANDALUSIA - SPAIN).

1. If you live in Andalucia for more than 183 days a year, you should be a tax resident in Spain.

2. The residence of the deceased person and the beneficiary are key points which decide where the inheritance taxes should be submitted i.e. at the Andalucia Tax office (in case of residents in Andalucia) or at the Spanish Inland Revenue in Madrid (in case of being non-residents).

3. The inheritance laws to be applied to an inheritance (regarding the distribution and disposition of assets) would be the ones of the nationality of the deceased person. i.e. if you are British, the British laws will apply to your inheritance.

4. If you have assets in Spain (i.e. real estate property, funds in bank accounts, shares, vehicles, etc) it is recommendable to make a Spanish will only for the distribution of the Spanish assets. It will make things easier, cheaper and quicker for your relatives when anything happens to you.

5. The signed Spanish will will be 100 % respected as long as it complies with your national laws. It is important to seek advice when drafting your will.

6. If you receive an inheritance, and are a tax resident in Spain, the inheritance taxes, (if any), should be paid in Spain; even if the assets inherited are situated outside of Spain.

7. In Andalucia, when the inheritance transfer takes place between direct relatives (spouses and children) there are allowances of up to 1,000,000€ per heir. This is applicable to Andalusian residents and Europeans.

Therefore, in most cases there is no inheritance tax to be paid.

8. The tax return for an inheritance must be filed within 6 months from the date of the death.

9. Transmission of ownership of the assets of the deceased person is not automatic and it is also compulsory to carry out some complicated Legal and tax paperwork, (e.g.: - get certificate of last will, sign the inheritance deeds in front of a public notary, file the inheritance tax returns, etc), in order to acquire ownership of the inheritance. It is highly recommended that you seek advice and professional assistance from a solicitor.

10. 1When receiving an Inheritance in Spain, it is not only the estate of the deceased person that is inherited, but also their debts. Therefore, this matter should be checked out before accepting an inheritance so that it does not turn into a nightmare. The debts could be higher than the assets !!!!!

Andalucía se prepara para su Semana Santa Este año, la Semana Santa comienza el domingo 14 de abril, Domingo de Ramos, y finaliza el 21 de abril, Domingo de Resurrección.

Aunque la Semana Santa es una tradición nacional en toda España, es en Andalucía donde se puede vivir el máximo fervor de la celebración más importante del Cristianismo.

Por toda la región, en casi todas las ciudades y pueblos, las hermandades y cofradías religiosas sacan sus pasos e imágenes en procesión, recreando las diferentes escenas de la Semana Santa.

Estos tronos son llevados por los costaleros, llamados así porque tradicionalmente usaban un saco relleno o costal para ayudarles

a soportar el peso de los tronos, algunos de los cuales pesan varias toneladas y requieren cientos de costaleros para llevarlos.

Cada hermandad está asociada con una parte concreta de la historia de Semana Santa y las procesiones, en las que a veces participan miles de miembros, salen en el orden correcto según La Pasión, comenzando el domingo antes de Semana Santa, el Domingo de Ramos.

Una de las partes más importantes de la procesión es cuando el trono o paso sale de la iglesia respectiva, una maniobra que a menudo requiere una gran habilidad y coordinación por parte de los costaleros y del líder, cuyo trabajo es guiar el trono.

Los tronos van acompañados por

penitentes o Nazarenos, algunos de los cuales llevan capirotes, una especie de gorro en forma cónica que oculta al que lo lleva, y que recuerdan al espectador a aquellos que llevaba el Ku Klux Klan. Otros penitentes pueden ir descalzos, o incluso con los ojos vendados.

Otra parte intrínseca de la procesión es la banda de música.

Algunas solamente tocan en las procesiones de Semana Santa, y tocan piezas de música procesional escritas específicamente para la Semana Santa.

A nivel local, las procesiones de San Roque son de las más importantes en la zona, y han sido declaradas “Evento de interés turístico” por la Junta de Andalucía.

Muchas de las imágenes que procesionan por las calles de San Roque durante la Semana Santa datan del siglo XVI, y los residentes de San Roque las trajeron con ellos cuando dejaron Gibraltar y se establecieron en su nuevo pueblo, alrededor de la Ermita de San Roque, tras haber sido ocupado su hogar por el ejército anglo-holandés durante la Guerra de Sucesión Española.

Hay varias procesiones, pero la más destacada es la del Viernes Santo, con pasos con 14 imágenes que representan el Viacrucis, y es la única procesión “Magna” que se celebra anualmente en toda Andalucía.

Independientemente de tus creencias religiosas, es casi imposible no sentirse conmovido con estas procesiones, y se recomienda encarecidamente que veas al menos una de las procesiones de Semana Santa.

Andalucia prepares for Easter celebrations This year Semana Santa (Easter) falls on the week beginning Sunday 14 April, Palm Sunday, and concludes on 21 April, Easter Sunday.

Whilst Semana Santa is a national tradition throughout Spain, it is in Andalucia that the full fervour of christianity's most important celebration can be experienced.

Across the region, in almost every city, town and village, religious brotherhoods and guilds parade through the streets carrying floats on which different scenes from the Easter story are depicted.

These floats or 'Tronos' (thrones) are carried by the 'costaleros', so called because traditionally the used a stuffed sack or 'costal' to help bear the weight of the tronos, some of which weigh several tons and may require hundreds of costaleros to carry them.

Each brotherhood is associated with a particular part of the Easter story and the processions, sometimes involving thousands of members, is enacted in the correct order according to

the Passion, starting on the Sunday before Easter, Palm Sunday.

One of the most important part of the procession is when the float exits from the respective church, a manoeuvre often requiring great skill and coordination on the part of the costaleros and the leader whose job it is to 'steer' the trono.

The floats are accompanied by penitents or Nazareños some of whom wear the capirotes, conical hats which disguise the wearer, and which remind the spectator of the Ku Klux Klan. Other penitents may go barefoot, whilst some are blindfolded.

Another intrinsic part of the procession is the marching band, many of which are solely dedicated to performing in the Semana Santa processions, and play pieces of processional music written specifically for Easter.

Locally, San Roque's Easter processions are some of the most important in the area and have been declared an 'Event of Tourist Interest' by the Junta de Andalucia.

Many of the statues paraded around the streets of San Roque during Easter Week date back to the 16th century and the residents of San Roque brought them with them when they left Gibraltar and established their new town around the Shrine of San Roque after their hometown was occupied by the Anglo-Dutch forces during the War of the Spanish Succession.

There are several processions, but the highlight is the Good Friday procession which features floats with fourteen different images representing the Stations of the Cross, and is the only 'Magna' procession held annually in the whole of Andalucia.

Regardless of your religious beliefs it is hard not to be moved by these processions, and it is highly recommended that you try and take in at least one of the processions during Easter week.

Radio Mix 106 breaking the boundaries of radio.

Ruddock and Co Film Productions in association with Radio Mix 106 will be holding an open call casting on the 13th and 14th of April for an upcoming pilot episode currently entitled “Manilva”.

They are looking to discover 8 main characters 4 Male and 4 Female for the first of a Crime Caper series to be filmed locally in May and June.

Individuals 18+ are invited from all nationalities (although it will be an advantage if you can speak English) to attend the studios of Mix 106, at the Eroski Centre near Marlows Fish and Chips, between 12 – 4pm on the Audition weekend.

The Pilot episode revolves around the introduction of an unlikely group of partners who are drawn together when the swindle devised by a local

pimp goes terribly wrong and then from bad to worse with varying degrees of hilarity.

This is a community inspired project celebrating the diversity of the area.

There will plenty of opportunities for extras and we will have more details on this next month.

Mix Unchained will be inviting people to submit proposals for programmes that they would like to put together and present,

the programmes could be on any subject or genre - talk show or music, it could be ‘Hit Mongolian Throat Songs of the Nineties’, or ‘Llama Breeding in the Andes’, whatever you like as long as you have a passion for it.

We can provide the recording facilities at our studios, training and advice as to how to put together an interesting show, or if

you have your own facilities even better.

You can do a one off show or a monthly, weekly or even daily show depending on what you can commit to.

Programmes will be broadcast on our Mix 3 live stream schedule, due to be launched in January, after which they will added to our listen on-demand service ‘Mix Reloaded’.

The Rising - Concert in memory of departed friends On Saturday the 20th of April, the Villa Matilda Park in Sabinillas, Manilva, is the venue for The Rising, a festival of music in memory of absent friends.

From 1 pm until 7 pm, there is a packed programme of music from some of the Coast's top singers and musicians including: Mr Maph, Mandy L, Daniela, Stelvis, The Rat Pack, Rob Sas & David, and Equis.

Entry is free and there is a bar and refreshments with all the proceeds going to the Adana dog rescue and rehoming charity.

Two British soldiers walk from Torrox to Malaga to raise money for homeless veterans

Two British soldiers will walk the 180 kilometres from Torrox in Málaga to the top of the Rock in Gibraltar to raise money for SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity and homeless veterans.

Craig Dignam and Danny O’Connor plan to leave Torrox on April 17 and aim to arrive in Gibraltar just four days later.

This is the equivalent of four marathons in as many days, they said.

On good Friday, 19th April they leave San Pedro en route to La Alcadeisa – they hope to stop at Buddha Bowl in Estepona Port for ‘lunch’ prior to walking through Sabinillas and Duquesa Port.

Once they have reached Alcadeisa they will be recovered to Heaven Bar in Duquesa Port to be fed and watered properly. Damian Platt (owner of Heaven) will also hold a ‘Play Your Cards Right’ event in support of SSAFA and assisted by ourselves.

WO1 Dignam, 53, serving with The

Defence Infrastructure Organisation based in Tidworth in Hampshire, is no stranger to raising money for charity.

Just last year, he walked nearly 1,500 kilometres over a period of 183 days to raise money for three service charities.

His walking companion Cpl O’Connor, 29, serves with 104 Log Bde based in South Cerney in Gloucestershire.

He joined WO1 Dignam on a 160kilometres charity walk to raise money for St John’s Hospice in Lancaster and The Burns Unit in Bradford in memory of the 56 people who died in the Bradford City fire.

The men chose the SSAFA charity to raise money for homeless veterans because they “believe no service person whether Royal Navy, Royal Army or Royal Air Force, should have ever to live on the streets”.

Tiendas benéficas Saint George La organización benéfica St George cuenta con tres tiendas benéficas, dos en Sabinillas, Manilva y otra en La Cancelada, Estepona.

En Sabinillas, una de las tiendas vende ropa, zapatos, sombreros y accesorios de segunda mano, mientras que la otra vende una amplia gama de muebles usados, objetos decorativos, artículos para el hogar, libros, CDs, DVDs, etc.

En la tienda de Cancelada se pueden encontrar todos los mismos tipos de artículos que en las dos anteriores además de muebles más grandes como sofás y camas.

Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas, hay nuevos artículos en todas las tiendas a diario. ¡Pásate por las tiendas regularmente para no perderte ninguna ganga!

BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group In response to a tragic situation earlier in the year a number of local residents came together to form the BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group, a ‘befriending’ group to provide support, comfort and a point of contact for people facing a variety of challenges.

The BuddyUp group is coordinated

by Marguerite Wilkins, and already has a number of members signed up.

Working closely with other local charities and organisations, including the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Citizens’ Advice, Cudeca, Social Services, etc., the group aims to provide support and advice for the elderly, disabled, those who have recently lost a partner, single parents, divorcees, the socially excluded, people that are new to the area, in fact anyone who might need someone to talk to or just pointing in the right direction.

BuddyUp volunteers work in pairs and have access to a wide range of resources to call upon depending on the needs of those they are assisting.

Saint George Charity Shops The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona.

In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; whilst the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds,

dvds, etc.

Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of furniture and beds.

Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that fabulous bargain.

As well as stocking some great quality items the St George Charity shops also rent out various items such as wheelchairs, walking aids, travel cots, etc.

The shop management welcome donations of quality secondhand items, and can arrange collection if needed.

We are also looking for secondhand books, especially in languages other than English, to populate are extensive bookshelves.

Food Bank The Saint George Charity runs a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, and invites people to donate non-perishable goods, such as long life milk, pasta, rice, biscuits, tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, etc., along with toiletries, personal hygiene and cleaning items.

The charity will supplement these items with fresh produce, and will distribute on a weekly basis to a number of individuals and families that have been identified as being in urgent need of this service.

Items can be donated at the St George Charity Shop in Calle Aurora Albornoz, Sabinillas, from 10 am to 1.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

EL COLOR DE LAS HOJAS Permanecieron todo el día laboreando la tierra, sintiendo el fuerte viento, solo en el alivio de un almuerzo y una pequeña siesta bajo los naranjos, dispusieron del sueño como aliado para reponer energías.

Jornal de viña que como lustro de vino y uva conocían bien al abuelo. Junto a las fuentes de las vides, el lar de la rosa, moradas para el sol del verano. Y el abuelo, una roca, lava ya endurecida, no vieja, acaso entumida, deseaba mostrar el amor a su hijo y a su nieto, ansiando con la mirada y el temblor de las manos encurtidas, descubrirles la honradez y el vigor de la tierra, del trabajo.

El tiempo no había inmovilizado del todo al abuelo, y su nieto y su hijo, sabían que nunca lo haría, que su abuelo traspasaría, desde el himno físico del cuerpo, esa llanura hacia el espíritu, montado en su edad más longeva, y lo remontaría como parra encendida en verde hasta el sombrajo, para dar sombra familiar a su campo, a su familia.

El vigor, el rigor de la tierra, el perfume del erguén, el abrazo vertical de la lluvia en las pitas, en las palmeras plantadas a mitad de un tiempo cualquiera, un tiempo unido al asno, a la espiga, a la flor fecunda, a la noche sabia de antepasados y presentes: tiempo de vida renovada en carne de árboles, instrumentos de esperanza al injerto y a los frutos, el vigor que asume la responsabilidad de los años vividos y aún desean mantenerse a flor de aliento.

El abuelo sabía que llegaría la época de la maquinaria, del Land Rover, de las subvenciones de las Juntas de Comunidades, porque era preciso.

El anciano dio a entender, una tarde cualquiera, que su jornada había acabado con la victoria de un sudor, de un sudor de sangre que ocupaba la historia de su mundo –el pulso que exagera la tierra labrada–, era como volverse atrás, hasta el hombre milenario, hasta el Adán, y allí ver en el arte de sembrar y esperar y recoger el fruto, la eternidad de una fuente de luz que golpea las estatuas y el pulso que las herramientas inventadas por el ser humano para exagera la facilitarle ayuda. Ahora le tierra labrada sorprendía la sabiduría, que llegaba hasta él con humidad de astro, como un regalo hermoso que le fuera ofrecido.

El viejo, que trabajó la tierra hasta el último momento, mostró su pesimismo ante el jugo artificial de aquella sociedad que se le venía encima a las cosechas, pero supo adaptar su piel a la inseguridad de los baches: el azufre, los insecticidas..., todo contra las plagas...; y se hablaba de un clima alterado que hacía sospechar lo peor para el fruto, para la tierra.

“La naturaleza, no podrá ser burlada, llegará un día en que esta sí que engañará a la ciencia. La naturaleza ha constatado los ciclos depurativos”, decía el abuelo pensando si aquello lo había leído en un periódico o se lo había contado el viejo almendro. Pero él, que abría su mente a todo, tenía sus dudas sobre los especuladores.

Su hijo y su nieto comprendían al anciano cuando les hablaba de la burla de la naturaleza.

Un día les pidió que se dirigieran junto al tronco del viejo níspero y excavaran, hasta hallar una

pequeña lata, esas de las que antiguamente venían con membrillo, que se vendían sobre todo para celebrar el postre dulce de ferias y meriendas de escolares sin brillo con babis a rayas. En las casas de los pueblos campesinos, esas latas venían bien para conservar los vegetales o las chacinas caseras, o para guardar documentos, ovillos de hilos y croché de tardes junto al olor penetrante de los jazmines.

Su hijo fue solo, y aunque quiso acompañarlo su nieto, este se quedó junto al abuelo por petición de la madre. Todos estaban ansiosos por ver qué guardaba esa caja. Pero alguien la había quitado de allí, quizás un jornalero, o tal vez un animal que escarbara hasta esas profundidades. Aquello hizo que el abuelo se Su hijo fue solo, enardeciera cuando se lo comunicó su hijo. y aunque quiso

Pensó en todo acompañarlo su lo que encerraba: “Son cosas de mi nieto juventud –comentó a su hijo–.Hace algunos años las guardé. Sobre todo hay una de gran importancia: un contrato en el que el dueño de estas tierras, además del usufructo de ellas, te hace propietario a ti después de mi muerte. Todo por agradecimiento a mi fidelidad. ¿Sabes lo que eso significa?, que tú mandarás sobre ellas, que tú contratarás jornaleros y explotarás las cosechas”.

El dueño de las tierras no tenía hijos pero aún así era sorprendente la generosidad que este había demostrado.

El hijo preguntó si además del contrato se guardaban otras cosas en la caja. El padre, miró a su hijo y luego a su nieto y les reveló que había también una honda pequeña, hecha por él mismo, de buen esparto, con el que tantas veces hizo cuerdas o alpargatas para pisar las uvas en el lagar. También se encontraban dos libros que le entregaron siendo un muchacho: “La Condesa de Cela”, de Valle Inclán, y “La noche”, de Alejandro Sawa, edición de 1918 en papel de revista, su precio era de diez céntimos, y anunciaba en la última hoja (pastas que no se diferenciaban en cuanto a calidad del resto de las hojas): depurativo higiénico, aguas de flor de oro para la caspa, lámparas, etc.“Esos dos relatos –dijo pensando en los dos libritos amarillentos– pertenecían a mi abuela”.

Y explicaría: “Tenía toda la colección, se la traía mi abuelo de la ciudad. Por aquel entonces no habíamos venido a estas tierras, y al morir, eso fue 1924, solo hallamos de toda la colección esas dos novelas. La abuela siempre leía al anochecer. Leía lentamente y en voz alta, para que oyéramos las historias; y cuando alguno de nosotros se distraía, nos decía: “¡No será porque no estoy leyendo despacio!”, entonces todo lo mágico se rompía con esa exclamación, y al día siguiente repetía los mismos capítulos, según ella no lo suficientemente atendidos”. “...Como ya es tarde –propuso el abuelo que a pesar de su estado de salud no admitía consejo alguno que le impidiera hacer lo que deseaba–, hoy lo dejaremos, pero bajaré mañana contigo al amanecer para acercarme hasta el níspero”.

El hijo tenía el pensamiento ocupado en el contrato: “El contrato debe ser registrado. No ha de haber problema. Solo tendré que dirigirme a la notaria...”.

Al día siguiente, se acercó con el abuelo al lugar donde debía estar la caja de lata. Era

efectivamente el sitio donde él excavara sin haber encontrado nada. Pero al profundizar un poco más, se llevó una gran sorpresa, porque allí estaba, a la izquierda de lo que ya parecía un pequeño pozo.

El abuelo la abrió allí mismo y comprobó que en ella estaba todo lo dicho. El tiempo la oxidó en la superficie, pero por dentro, permanecía impoluta.

Se fueron a la casa y quedó tranquilo contemplando lo que podía ser el último sembrado de su vida.

“Ahora estoy cansado. Intentaré dormir”, dijo el anciano.

“A estas horas, nunca lo hubiera oído quejarse”. Su hijo pensó que su padre no estaba cansado sino enfermo.

Pasó el día y la noche, y cuando su hijo entró en la habitación a la alborada del día siguiente, le vio acostado, vestido con la ropa de faena, la que tantas veces había utilizado para trabajar en el campo. Tenía las botas llenas de tierra, y en una mano cerrada, dos hojas del viejo níspero, atrapadas con fuerza. Inmóvil, no quería creer lo que estaba viendo. Llamaba la atención un verde chorreando de la mano que los árboles perennes quieren dejar en el viento.

El hijo se acercó a la ventana y pensó en llamar a los demás. “Qué disgusto se llevarán al ver al abuelo tendido, sin respirar...”.

Volvió a mirar por la ventana antes de comunicar su muerte.

Volvió a Vio el campo encendido contemplar por en suave color en sus primeras horas, y se dijo: la ventana el “Plantaré una viña al otro lado del níspero y algunos mundo árboles frutales, porque esa tierra me parece la mejor, y además lleva un tiempo en barbecho”.

Volvió a contemplar por la ventana el mundo como semblanza labriega. Una luna despistada clareaba en la altura, transparente, dejando ver el cielo celeste del amanecer. Un silencio de lágrimas comenzaba a rodar y expresaba las experiencias humanas que el tiempo hace comprender, de todo aquello que se va, se nos va y a la vez se queda, heredero de la vida.

El área en la que vivimos tiene un clima selecta, la razón de por que muchos de nosotros estamos aquí; desafortunadamente es también lo que permite la presencia de algunas plagas muy desagradables. Estos pueden ser un problema para nosotros y nuestros animales, garrapatas, pulgas, mosquitos y moscas que pican son algunos de los sospechosos habituales. Este mes se centrará en las garrapatas y una mosca que puede causar problemas en dos frentes: uno, su simple presencia y dos, las enfermedades que pueden transmitir.

Las garrapatas (y las pulgas) por su mera presencia pueden provocar anemia porque ellos viven de la sangre; El peligro oculto está en las enfermedades que pueden transmitir. Cuando la garrapata en cuestión está cargada con un parásito de sangre, y puede que pasará esto al animal que se muerde. The diseases, (like Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis Babesiosis or, Feline Infectious Anaemia-from fleas), that can be transmitted by ticks are almost as varied as the host animals that may be affected, just thinking here of humans, horses, dogs, and cats among the susceptible mammals. The most common signs are apathy, fatigue, diminished appetite, high fever, anaemia and/or dark urine. Any of these symptoms could be reason to check with your veterinarian. There are treatments for animals afflicted by any of these pathologies as well as preventative measures ranging from vaccines in some cases to topical tick repellent products.

All biting flies and mosquitoes are a problem to us and our animals, not just the annoyance they cause but the diseases they may pass along.

There are biting flies that seriously bother horses causing localized bleeding and sores that attract other pests, even more bothersome.

The other main focus this month will be on Leishmaniasis or Sand Fly Fever (not only found around sand), another zoonotic (pertaining to zoonosis – an animal disease contagious to humans) disease. This disease described in the Bible as Aleppo’s Button has been around for quite a while (pardon the redundancy). It is produced by parasitic protozoa, Leishmania infantum, that lives in the blood which is passed on in the bite of a biting fly (Phelobotomus) that prefers dogs but will bite people as well as other mammals. The typical symptoms are intermittent fever, weakness, lethargy, open sores, excessive nail growth, and/or scaly skin, particularly around the nose and eyes. The only definitive diagnosis is by a blood test and/or a lymph node biopsy. Dogs are the main host and do not develop an immune response, as people can to the parasite, hence this disease is, in my experience, incurable in dogs while it is curable in people. There is now an oral, palliative treatment available which is less toxic to the liver and kidneys, than the older injectable therapeutic solution, now available here but that had to be imported from Portugal or France 20 years ago. There is now, also, a vaccine available.

Mosquitoes can transmit a disease known as heartworm to dogs which is curable with a very toxic therapy but can be prevented by monthly tablets and there is now an annual vaccine against this condition.

There are also repellent products available commercially, which claim to be effective against the ticks, biting sand flies mosquitoes and fleas, nothing is 100% effective but they can lower the chance that the animal may come in contact with the nasty causative agents of these diseases.

Club Rugby del Estrecho News

The CR Estrecho Sub 16 rugby team of Adrian Parsons and Tim Brazier continues with their impressive performances on the rugby field by finishing their league season undefeated winning 12 out of 12 league games and lifting the Andalucian League Championship Sub 16 Their last 3 league games ended with wins against Huelva, Jerez and Almeria.

In their penultimate match against ER Marianistas de Jerez in a winner takes all game and in difficult weather conditions in Jerez, CR Estrecho prevailed by 12 points to 10 in a very tight battle.

The Sub 16 team has worked extremely hard in training over the last 3 months as they prepare themselves for the Spanish Championships in Valladolid on May 1012th.

Last weekend CR Estrecho Sub 16’s played in a 2 match series against Teddington School from Middlesex, in the first match Estrecho won by 14-12 but in the second match with the scores equal at half time 12-12, Estrecho powered away in the second half to win by 36-12 with a hat trick of tries from Ale “Speedie” Gonzalez

This weekend the Sub 16’s are playing in an International Invitation Tournament in Sevilla in honour of Jaime Gomez who died of cancer aged 14 last November. At this this tournament they will play Chepstow Rugby Club from Wales, Ciencias Rugby Club from Sevilla and Granada.

Alberto Zerrada obtiene medalla en la II Copa de España de Esgrima Histórica La Real Federación Española de Esgrima ha organizado la "II Copa de España de Esgrima Histórica" en la modalidad de Duelo del Siglo XVII. Esta competición que se realiza cada dos años es equivalente al Campeonato de España de esta modalidad.

Participaron los máximos exponentes de la esgrima histórica del territorio nacional y representantes de la esgrima antigua internacional que se enfrentaron en las modalidades de “espada ropera del siglo XVII” y “espada y daga”.

Los duelos tuvieron lugar en la ciudad de Granada donde acudieron multitud de aficionados y curiosos de este noble arte que rememora el espíritu de la esgrima antigua, sus técnicas, destreza, tretas así como sus armas y vestuario sin olvidar la filosofía de los antiguos caballeros de armas.

Fue un absoluto espectáculo ver en acción a los mejores especialistas de esta forma de combate en más de 100 duelos dando un ejemplo de caballerosidad y elegancia.

Los asaltos se realizan a tres puntos, lo que equivale a un solo tocado en un blanco potencialmente mortal y un punto en zonas no vitales, de este modo los deportistas afrontan los encuentros como un verdadero duelo a una sola acción, bien de filo o de estocada en ocasiones de solo unos segundos de duración.

El maestro del Club “AndaluZía” Alberto Zerrada que era el actual campeón de la modalidad celebrada en Alicante en el año 2017, participó de nuevo en esta competición siendo el único representante de la provincia. Después de infinidad de duelos muy disputados acabó subiéndose al podium gracias a una combinación de velocidad, destreza, estética, concentración y conocimiento

de esta antigua disciplina.

Enhorabuena a todos los componentes del Club Internacional y sus maestros y monitores por este importante logro que se desarrolla cada dos años.

Alberto Zerrada gets a medal in the II Spanish Historical Fencing Cup The Royal Spanish Fencing Federation recently organized the "II Spanish Cup of Historical Fencing" in the category of XVII Century Duel.

This competition, which takes place every two years, is equivalent to the Spanish Championship in this category.

The greatest exponents of historical fencing in Spain along with representatives of the international sport of ancient fencing who fought in the categories of "seventeenthcentury sword" and "sword and dagger" took part.

The duels took place in the city of Granada, where many fans and people interested in this noble art attended, recalling the spirit of ancient fencing, their

techniques, dexterity, tricks as well as their weapons and costumes without forgetting the philosophy of the ancient knights in arms.

It was a fabulous spectacle to see in action the best specialists in this form of combat in more than 100 duels giving an example of chivalry and elegance.

The attacks are awarded three points for a potentially fatal single hit, and a point for a hit on non-vital areas, in this way the athletes face the matches as a true duel to a single action, either cut or thrust sometimes only lasting a few seconds.

The master of the Club "AndaluZía" Alberto Zerrada who was the current champion of the category celebrated in

Alicante in 2017, participated once again in this competition being the only representative from Malaga province. After many disputed duels ended up getting on the podium thanks to a combination of speed, dexterity, aesthetics, concentration and knowledge of this ancient discipline.

Congratulations to all the members of the International Club and its teachers and instructors for this important achievement that takes place every two years.
