Editorial Bienvenido al número de agosto de The Resident. Siempre he tenido una visión bipolar sobre agosto aquí en la Costa. Por un lado, las cifras de récord de visitantes este año tienen un efecto muy positivo en la economía local, bajando el desempleo y animando la inversión en la zona. Por otro lado, sería genial no tener atascos continuos de tráfico y poder aparcar fácilmente. No importa, septiembre está a la vuelta de la esquina y vendrán tiempos más tranquilos. Pero, volviendo a agosto y a lo que sucederá este mes, Sabinillas celebra su santo patrón, San Luis, a finales de mes con la tercera (y última) feria en Manilva. Como recordarás, los ciudadanos de Manilva votaron en un referéndum para decidir si se mantenía una única feria en agosto o si se volvía a las tres ferias locales tradicionales en Castillo, Manilva y Sabinillas. La última opción ganó el voto y será interesante saber a finales del verano si esto ha sido un éxito o no. Hablando de ferias, Málaga celebra su feria desde el 12 al 20 de agosto. Ésta es una de las ferias más grandes y populares de Andalucía, con un intenso programa de eventos y actividades por toda la ciudad y un recinto ferial enorme. Un evento verdaderamente espectacular al que todo el mundo debería hacer el esfuerzo de asistir al menos una vez en la vida. Con el calor también llegan las medusas. A pesar del empleo de numerosos barcos encargados de acabar con estas agradables criaturas, algunas se escapan (lo se, me picaron hace un par de semanas). Si te pica una medusa, debes lavar la zona con agua salada (no con agua dulce ya que esto hace que se libere más veneno) y algunos expertos recomiendan vinagre, aunque no todos están de acuerdo con esto. Orinar sobre la zona afectada no ayuda en absoluto, y puede ganarte algunas miradas de rechazo de la gente a tu alrededor. Hasta el mes que viene. Gary Beaumont Editor

Welcome to the August issue of The Resident. I’ve always had a bipolar view on August here on the Costa, whilst on the one hand this year’s record number of visitors has a hugely positive effect on the local economy, driving down unemployment and encouraging investment in the area. On the other hand, wouldn’t it be great not to drive out of your garage straight into a traffic jam, and at the end of that journey to be able to find somewhere to park! Never mind, September is just around the corner and we can look forward to quieter times. But, back to August and what’s going on this month. Sabinillas celebrates its patron saint San Luis at the end of this month with the third and final local feria in Manilva. As you may recall the people of Manilva voted in a referendum earlier in the year whether to keep the one big August Fair or to restore the traditional local fairs in Castillo, Manilva Town, and Sabinillas. The latter option won the vote and it will be interesting to know at the end of the summer the result of the post mortem as to whether it was a success or not. Talking of Ferias, Malaga celebrated its annual fair from the 12th to the 20th of August. This is one of the biggest and most popular fairs in Andalucia, with a packed programme of events and activities across the City and in the massive fairground. A truly spectacular event, everyone should make the effort to go at least once in a lifetime. With the warm weather come the jellyfish! Despite the deployment of a number of small boats tasked with scooping up these little darlings, some are still getting through (I know, I was stung just a couple of weeks ago). In the event of being stung, you should wash the area with salt water (not fresh water as this just encourages the stings to release more venom) and some experts recommend vinegar although there is some disagreement over this. Urinating on the stung area does no good at all and may attract disapproving looks from your fellow beachgoers! Goodbye until next month Gary Beaumont Editor

Expressing yourself through Drumming When you think about drumming there is no better person to help you express yourself than Peter Shaw. No matter what age you are, this is something that can be enjoyed. Peter only began to drum at the age of 50, he went along to a class with a friend, just to see what is was about and instantly became hooked: after several weeks he felt that he could hear the drums “singing”, and soon purchased his first drum. After realising that frequencies in drumming opened up the mind to other things he signed up to study therapeutic drumming at a college in Nottingham and went on to gain qualifications in order to help people from all walks of life. Through experience, and with the

Derby City Hospital Peter began to assist pre and post operative cancer patients but this was just the beginning. People from all walks of life suffer. Those who had suffered abuse at the hands of others found a way of expressing their feelings at a time when they were not able to speak about their feelings, this is all done in a supported environment without the need for anybody to verbally hear their story: You come away from an expressive drumming circle with a feeling of wellbeing and elation. This in turn, helps create new communities and help can be found for sufferers of strokes, dementia, cancer and even parkinson’s as it allows people to be able to focus.

Peter successfully ran drumming circles in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for around 10 years prior to his move to the Manilva and Casares area. After realising how uplifting and inspiring the drumming was Peter felt it was a natural progression to incorporate other forms of healing, he has since studied various forms of sound healing but admits that in this field he is learning continually. He frequently holds talks and meetings at his home Currently, Peter runs a drumming circle within the area, at this time of year he chooses the setting of the open air with stunning views along the coast. He loves to teach and would like to work with health authorities where he feelings this is most beneficial in assisting others to express themselves. Expressive drumming, due to its nature has no language barriers. Also a trained nurse, from the age of 17 and a foot health care practitioner; Peter had his own practice for 30 years in the UK and has just started practising again in Spain. 44º Certamen International de Arte de Gibraltar 2017 El Servicio Cultural de Gibraltar (Gibraltar Cultural Services), en representación del Ministerio de Cultura, invita a participar en el 44º Certamen Internacional de Arte de Gibraltar (Gibraltar International Art Competition). Las obras inscritas serán expuestas en la Galería Gustavo Bacarisas entre el 8 y el 18 de noviembre de 2017. El certamen está abierto a cualquier persona mayor de 16 años a partir del 6 de noviembre de 2017. Cada artista podrá presentar un máximo de dos pinturas y dos esculturas. Los trabajos deberán ser originales y no haber sido presentados anteriormente a otra competición. Casares subvenciona con los Premios Blas Infante 6 proyecto de cooperación internacional y 2 educación al desarrollo Emotiva ceremonia en Casares Blas Infante Awards provide para celebrar la fiesta de la solidaridad, en un día de gran imgrants for 8 projects portancia en el municipio, por ser el aniversario del nacimiento de Blas Infante y celebrarse la 15 edición de los premios solidarios que llevan su nombre. sis (prostitutas de los templos) en India; 5.000 euros para un pozo de agua potable en la escuela básica de “Laura Vicuña” de Venezuela; otros 5.000 euros para la VII Campaña de Cirugía en Ghana; el cuarto Accésit de 3.000 euros para apoyar el Orfanato La Pouponniere de Dakar (Senegal); y un último Accésit dotado con 3.000 euros también para la construcción de dos tanques de agua en escuelas de Kenia. In an emotive ceremony Casares celebrated the 15th Blas Infante Awards, on the anniversary of the birth in Casares of the man who bears the awards’ name. Espeleólogos de GES Casares revelan graves actos vandálicos en la Cueva Hedionda 1 de la Sierra de la Utrera Se trata de estropicios sobre bienes de un gran valor que son irrecuperables y afectan a varias salas de la Cueva Hedionda 1 de la Sierra de la Utrera. Con la destrucción de gran cantidad de estalactitas y formaciones calcáreas que han tardado miles de años en formarse, así como pintadas de grandes dimensiones con espray negro en las paredes de la cavidades y grabados con un objeto metálico. Los actos vandálicos fueron descubiertos el pasado sábado por espeleólogos de GES Casares que se encontraban realizando el levantamiento topográfico de la cavidad con los nuevos sistemas de topografía en 3 dimensiones. Unos hechos indignantes que han causado gran consternación entre aficionados a la espeleología y en el Ayuntamiento de Casares, y que han sido denunciados ante el SEPRONA de la Guardia Civil.

Asimismo, desde GES Casares y la Concejalía de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Casares se ha acordado controlar los accesos a la cavidad con la colocación de un cierre de seguridad, y se ha va a enviar un escrito a la delegación territorial de la Consejería de Cultura de la Junta de Andalucía para la puesta en marcha de medidas de protección

adecuadas. No es la primera vez que ocurren actos vandálicos en cavidades de la Sierra de la Utrera, y el Ayuntamiento de Casares puso en marcha en 2015 una normativa para regular la práctica de la espeleología y proteger el patrimonio con la instalación de cierres y la necesidad de solicitar permisos para ser visitadas.

Caving experts from GES Casares discover serious vandalism at Hedionda Cave No 1 in the Sierra de la Utrera Vandals have broken structures of great value that are irrecoverable and affect several caverns in Cave Hedionda 1 of the Sierra de la Utrera. With the destruction of large numbers of stalactites and calcareous formations that have taken thousands of years to form, as well as large pieces of graffiti painted with black spray on the walls and others engraved with a metallic object. The vandalism was discovered earlier this month by speleologists

from GES Casares who were carrying out the topographic survey of the cave with new 3D topography systems. These outrageous acts have caused great consternation among caving enthusiasts and the Town Hall of Casares, and the vandalism has been reported to the Guardia Civil’s SEPRONA environmental division. GES Casares and the Casares Cultural Department have agreed to control access to the cave, and

have sent a letter to the Junta de Andalucia’s Ministry of Culture asking for the implementation of adequate protection measures. This is not the first time that vandalism has occurred in caves in the Sierra de la Utrera, and the Casares Town Council passed a regulation in 2015 to regulate the practice of caving and protect the heritage with the installation of gates and the need to request permits to enter the caves.

Avanza la puesta a punto del Polígono de Casares Los trabajos que lleva a cabo el Ayuntamiento para la puesta en marcha del Polígono Industrial de Los Pedregales han tomado un gran impulso en los últimos meses. Una vez finalizadas las obras de abastecimiento de agua y saneamiento en el polígono industrial de Casares que se reanudaron el pasado mes de mayo, así como la reposición de la tubería afectada por el temporal de diciembre, el alcalde Pepe Carrasco firmó ayer un proyecto de obras complementarias con la empresa Seranco S.A. que va a consistir en el hormigonado de los caminos paralelos a la tuberías de agua y saneamiento. Estas obras, explica el concejal de Infraestructura y Desarrollo Local, Guzman Ahumada, son imprescindibles para el mantenimiento de ambas redes de infraestructuras, como ya se ha comprobado tras periodos de lluvias.

Guzmán Ahumada ha explicado que estos trabajos está previsto que se extiendan durante un mes , tras lo cual desde el Ayuntamiento se van a poner a punto todas los servicios internos de la zona industrial como instalaciones eléctricas, la red de agua potable, y el alumbrado público. Con lo que se podrán dar por finalizada la promoción y se puedan poner en marcha la actividad económica para la que fue construida esta zona industrial. Recordamos a pesar de que el Polígono Industrial de Casares es un proyecto privado el Ayuntamiento tuvo que hacerse cargo del mismo al no haber finalizado su urbanización la promotora. El concejal de Desarrollo Local ha matizado que con la finalización del proyecto se da oportunidad a los propietarios de las parcelas de iniciar sus negocios, lo que también influirá en la reactivación económica del municipio.

Ya se puede consultar el estado de las playas de Casares a través de la APP Infomedusa Los vecinos y bañistas que hacen uso habitual de nuestras playas, ya cuentan con un nuevo servicio que les permite saber de forma inmediata si hay presencia de medusas en la playa. El servicio de socorrismo de Casares se encarga de actualizar constantemente esta información local. InfoMedusa es la aplicación móvil, desarrollada tanto en iOS como en Android, que nos indica la actividad de medusas en las playas malagueñas, un proyecto del Aula del Mar. El incremento de medusas que se ha producido en los últimos años en las playas de la provincia de Málaga sigue preocupando tanto a los bañistas como a los empresarios del sector turístico. El objetivo es informar y prevenir, avisando a los ciudadanos de la presencia de estos invertebrados, además de la cantidad, variedad y peligrosidad, para poder evitar así las molestas picaduras. Los interesados sólo deben descargar en sus dispositivos la APP “Infomedusa” y escribir en el buscador “Playa Ancha”, para obtener de manera actualizada toda la información detallada.

El Ayuntamiento pinta 50 fachadas de edificios con obras de arte para crea un museo al aire libre El jurado del I Concurso Internacional de Murales de Estepona, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Estepona en colaboración con la Obra Social “la Caixa” ha premiado la obra realizada por Zosen y Mina Hamada con el primer premio y la obra realizada por Efrén Calderón con el segundo premio de este certamen. Los ganadores recibirán 10.000 y 5.000 euros, respectivamente. Esta iniciativa ha permitido ejecutar diez obras artísticas de forma simultánea, en fachadas de edificios de la ciudad, situando a la localidad esteponera a la vanguardia del arte urbano, tras sumar casi medio centenar de murales artísticos.

Zosen y Mina Hamada son dos artistas visuales provenientes uno de Argentina y otra de Japón. Su repertorio artístico abarca murales, pinturas sobre tela, ilustración, instalaciones, serigrafía y edición de libros. Sus trabajos conjuntos se pueden encontrar en varias ciudades de Europa, América del Norte y del Sur y Japón. Efrén Calderón lleva años en el mundo del graffiti, alternando sus piezas de calle con otros proyectos de estudio. Ha participado en Maus Málaga, La Térmica, Espacio Cienfuegos, Málaga Crea en el CAC Málaga, MAD Antequera, Programa Iniciarte, Art Truck Project, entre otros.

Entre los proyectos ejecutados destaca también el primer mural braille de España, conformado por piezas cerámicas. Francisco Redondo, artista asturiano que ha elaborado esta obra y que recibió un premio durante la II Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño Gráfico por un libro ilustrado para invidentes, es el creador de un sistema que combina el braille y los pictogramas para que las personas con problemas visuales puedan disfrutar del arte. El mural tiene una superficie de 7 metros de longitud y dos metros de altura. El artista ha optado por representar a varios delfines en el mar como símbolo de la Estepona marinera.

Zosen and Mina Hamada are two visual artists from Argentina and Japan. Their joint work can be found in several cities in Europe, North and South America and Japan. Efrén Calderón has spent years in the world of graffiti, alternating his street pieces with other projects. Among the other murals in the contest, is the first Braille mural in Spain, made up of ceramic pieces. Francisco Redondo, an Asturian artist who has made this work and who received an award during

the II Ibero-American Biennial of Graphic Design for an illustrated book for the blind, is the creator of a system that combines braille and pictograms so that people with visual problems can enjoy the art. The mural measures 7 metres in length and two metres in height. The artist has chosen to represent several dolphins in the sea as a symbol of Estepona’s seafaring tradition.

El alcalde valora la inversión de 15 millones de euros para construir el primer hotel en el casco antiguo de Estepona El alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, y el promotor Richard Eller han asistido al acto de colocación de la primera piedra de las obras del futuro hotel Maravilla Palace, que se ubicará en la plaza de Las Flores y que se convertirá en el primero en el casco antiguo de la ciudad. El proyecto, que supone una inversión de 15 millones de euros, tiene un plazo de ejecución de 18 meses, por lo que las instalaciones entrarán en funcionamiento durante la primavera de 2019. El regidor ha valorado esta iniciativa porque satisfacerá “una demanda histórica” que venían haciendo tanto los vecinos como turistas. “Estepona cuenta con una estupenda planta hotelera pero no tenía ningún establecimiento de estas características en su centro urbano”, ha subrayado el primer edil. A ese respecto, ha indicado que, además del Maravilla Palace, en los próximos dos años el centro urbano dispondrá de otros siete

establecimientos hoteleros, lo que generará más empleo y dinamización del sector turístico en la ciudad. El alcalde ha explicado que el acto de hoy supone “un reconocimiento al esfuerzo que ha hecho la ciudad durante los últimos cinco años por transformar su casco antiguo”. “Ahora, el centro de Estepona tiene la capacidad de atraer a inversores dispuestos a desarrollar proyectos turísticos de primera categoría, como será este hotel Maravilla Palace”, ha continuado García Urbano. En cuanto al hotel que se ha presentado, uno de sus arquitectos, Luis Escarcena, ha explicado que se construirá sobre una parcela de unos 800 metros cuadrados y tendrá un total de 50 habitaciones con todos los servicios necesarios para cumplir la categoría de cuatro estrellas. Habrá restaurantes, cafetería, sala de celebraciones, y terrazas chill-out en la cubierta con piscina, siguiendo un proyecto que mezcla modernidad con tradición.

El IV Certamen Mundial de Jamón ‘Ciudad de Estepona’ reunirá a 70 firmas del sector La diputada provincial y concejala del Ayuntamiento de Estepona, Pilar FernándezFígares, el cortador de jamón José María Téllez ‘Popi’, y la cantante malagueña Nuria Fergó han presentado el ‘IV Certamen Mundial de Jamón Ciudad de Estepona’, que tendrá lugar del 10 al 15 de agosto en el paseo marítimo y que espera recibir más de 150.0000 visitantes. En esta IV edición se reunirá a un total de 70 empresas relacionadas con la producción de jamón y embutidos de diversas zonas geográficas y denominaciones de origen del país. El Certamen Mundial de Jamón ‘Popi’ Ciudad de Estepona pretende poner en valor la alta variedad y calidad de los productos ibéricos españoles y las excelencias gastronómicas de la tierra derivadas del cerdo ibérico, así como rendir homenaje a la figura del cortador de jamón. Los visitantes podrán presenciar en directo el trabajo de estos profesionales, que prepararán

platos de degustación que se pondrán a la venta a un precio de 5 euros. La diputada ha recordado que la marca ‘Sabor a Málaga’ ha apoyado este evento desde sus inicios, ya que no solo sirve para promocionar los productos ibéricos de la provincia y posicionarlos entre las firmas más reconocidas del país, sino que, además, contribuye a dinamizar el turismo gastronómico en la localidad de Estepona, que con motivo de este certamen recibe cada año a numerosos visitantes. Las actuaciones musicales son uno de los principales atractivos del evento, que ofrecerá cada noche un concierto en directo. Nuria Fergó será la encargada de inaugurar el certamen la noche del 10 de agosto. Calle Salvador, Las Seventies, Salvador Beltrán y Rocío Cortés amenizarán las veladas de los días 11, 12, 13 y 14, y el broche final, la noche del martes 15, lo pondrá el concierto de José Manuel Soto.

IV World ‘Jamon’ Contest returns to Estepona, with 70 companies promoting their products Once again Estepona’s Paseo Maritimo becomes the ham centre of the world when, from the 10th to the 15th of August the town hosts the IV World ‘Jamon’ Contest, giving visitors the opportunity to taste the best Jamon and other Iberian pork products. This year the thousands of visitors will be treated to some new activities as well as a programme of concerts including: singer Nuria Fergó who kicks off the music on Thursday the 10th August. Friday the 11th it is the turn of the band Calle Salvador. Pop due Lola and Blanca, better known as Las Seventies are in charge of entertainment on Saturday the 12th. Singer guitarrist Salvador Beltrán is in concert on Sunday the 13th, with Rocio Cortés taking to the stage on Monday the 14th. Rounding off the cycle of concerts is Jose Manuel Soto on Tuesday the 15th of August.

The event, which is organised by Estepona Town Hall in collaboration with local professional ham cutter José María Téllez affectionately known as ‘Popi’, and with the support of the Malaga provincial government’s ‘Sabor de Malaga’ initiative, will see more than 70 of Spain’s top companies in the

En concreto, la noche del sábado 12, a partir de las 22:00 horas, todas las personas que lo deseen podrán observar Las Perseidas a simple vista o con cámara fotográfica, en el punto kilométrico 2,6 de la carretera MA-8301, de acceso a Peñas Blancas, donde estarán disponibles de cuatro a seis telescopios para la observación astronómica. Las Escuelas Deportivas Municipales ofertan más de 2.000 plazas en 18 actividades para el curso 2017/2018 El Ayuntamiento de Estepona, a través del Área Sociocultural y Servicios, informa de que las Escuelas Deportivas Municipales (EDM) ofertan 2.014 plazas deportivas en las 18 actividades programadas para la temporada 2017/18 y dirigidas por técnicos deportivos titulados. Las clases comenzarán el 18 de septiembre y se prolongarán hasta finales de junio Del total de plazas, 764 son para

actividades dirigidas a Adultos (Actividad Física para Mayores, Bádminton, Deporte Adaptado, Gimn. El equipo de gobierno incorpora a los ediles del Partido Popular El Alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, ha anunciado la incorporación de dos nuevos ediles, del grupo municipal Popular al Equipo de Gobierno, Francisco Miguel Álvarez Gil, que ostentaría las Delegaciones de Relaciones Institucionales con otras Administraciones, Medios de Comunicación e Innovación y Administración Electrónica, y Juana Ortiz Vargas que dirigirá las Áreas de Sanidad, Salud y Pesca. La citada incorporación se produce como resultado, tras el anuncio realizado en rueda de prensa varios meses atrás en el que se animaba a los Concejales de la oposición a la colaboración en tareas de gobierno, con el objeto de que participasen en la gestión diaria y en la elaboración de documentos fundamentales

para el futuro de Manilva, como podrían ser la revisión del PGOU, el Plan Municipal de la vivienda y la construcción de un espigón transversal y puerto de abrigo en el Castillo de la Duquesa entre otros. Según Mario Jiménez, con ambas incorporaciones se pretende lograr un mayor consenso en actuaciones que se pueden calificar como trascendentales para el futuro de Manilva, y fortalecer la posición de nuestra Corporación en el ámbito provincial, autonómica y nacional. Para lograrlo se ha determinado un calendario de actuaciones que deberán realizarse en un futuro inmediato y que revertirán en mejorar nuestra posición y la mejora de las condiciones de vida de nuestros vecinos.

La Oficina de Turismo amplía sus horarios

El concejal de Turismo, Diego Urieta, ha informado que la oficina de turismo ubicada en el Puerto de la Duquesa ampliará sus horarios en los meses de verano. Durante agosto y septiembre también contará con horario vespertino. Por ello, además del habitual horario anual, de 8.00h a 15.00h, también abrirá los fines de semana y tardes con el siguiente horario: miércoles, jueves y viernes de 17.00h a 21.00h y sábados y domingos de 10.00h a 13.30h.

Esta ampliación de servicio, además de estar programado por el aumento de población en la época estival, se puede llevar a cabo gracias al apoyo de la bolsa de trabajo de los estudiantes universitarios que el Ayuntamiento abrió antes del verano. Según comentaba Urieta: "estos jóvenes nos ayudarán a ampliar y mejorar el servicio a la ciudadanía a la vez que aprenden a desenvolverse en la oficina de turismo y en la atención a la ciudadanía que requiera cualquier tipo de información", apuntó.

To achieve this, a calendar of actions has been determined that will have to be carried out in the immediate future and that will improve the standard of living for all of Manilva’s population.

Tourist office extends its opening hours Councilor for Tourism, Diego Urieta, has reported that the tourist office located in Puerto de la Duquesa will expand its opening hours in the summer months. During August and September the office will also open in the evening. Therefore, in addition to the usual annual schedule, from 8 am to 3 pm, it will also open on weekends and afternoons with the following opening times: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 1.30 pm.

Los trabajos de dragado se suspenderán en las principales horas de descanso de los vecinos

Continuando con las gestiones que está llevando a cabo el alcalde de Manilva, Mario Jiménez, para evitar que los vecinos se vean afectados por el ruido que provoca los trabajos de dragado en la bocana del puerto, se han dado pasos positivos entre Ayuntamiento y Marina del Mediterráneo en pro de la ciudadanía. Según la autorización de Costas remitida el 7 de julio, el dragado debe hacerse antes del 15 de agosto ya que a partir de esa fecha comienza el período reproductivo de la lapa, molusco protegido, y el dragado podría afectarle. La denominada Patella refuginia, de las que hay once ejemplares en el Puerto de la Duquesa, está en el grado más alto de protección, equivalente al lince ibérico. El Dragado consiste en extraer la arena de la entrada del puerto,

Vendimia de Manilva 2017 Cada año, durante el primer fin de

semana de septiembre, Manilva celebra su vendimia anual. El festival fue fundado en los años 60 y se ha convertido en una parte importante de la agenda local, atrayendo a visitantes de toda la región. Este año el festival cae en el fin de semana del 2 y 3 de septiembre.

Viernes, 1 de septiembre XXXVIII Festival Flamenco en el Colegio Pablo Picasso de Manilva. Todos los amantes del flamenco, podrán disfrutar de una noche flamenca con cantaores de primer orden, entre otros muchos grupos y sorpresas. La fiesta durará hasta alta horas de la madrugada.

Sábado, 2 de septiembre 19:00 h Santa Misa en honor de Ntra. Sra. de los Dolore, cantada por la “Coral Santa Ana de Manilva”, en la Iglesia Parroquial. Tras la celebración de la misa, la Virgen saldrá en procesión por la calle Iglesia hacia

la calle Mar, acompañada de la “Banda de Música de Manilva”, donde tendrá lugar la ofrenda de uva. Seguidamente, como cada año, se realizará el concurso al racimo de mayor peso. 22:00 h Música y baile en la calle Mar, a cargo de la orquestas “Nuevas Ilusiones” y Trio “Venecia”.

Domingo, 3 de septiembre El día más grande de la Vendimia o conocido también como “Domingo Rociero”, donde a mediodía habrá degustación tanto del vino como de la uva de nuestro tierra. También se obsequian a los visitantes y asistentes con detalles típicos. 13:00 h Inauguración de la feria de día en la calle Mar. 14:00 h A partir de esta hora, habrá música y baile en toda la calle Mar, a cargo de la orquesta “Nuevas Ilusiones” y Trio “Venecia”.

Vendimia - Manilva’s Grape Harvest Festival Every year, on the first weekend in September, Manilva celebrates its annual grape harvest. This festival was founded in the early '60s and has become an important part of the local calendar, drawing in visitors from across the region. Most of the events and activities take place in and around Manilva’s main street, Calle Mar, The Wine Centre, and the Plaza de la Vendimia square.

the Virgen will be borne from the church to the stage in Calle Mar where she will be presented with an offering of grapes, after which the competition for the best bunch of grapes takes place. 10.00 pm Music and dancing into the early hours in Manilva’s Calle Mar with the bands “Nuevas Ilusiones” and Trio “Venecia”.

Friday 1st September

1 pm - Inauguration of the Day Feria with music, dancing and plenty of food and drink throughout the afternoon and evening. Later in the afternoon at around 5 pm there is a procession of riders through the streets, followed at around 7 pm by the ceremonial first treading of the grapes and a chance to sample the first 'mosto' grape juice of the season. 9 pm - Concert by the band “Mr Proper” who will perform some of the greatest hits from the Golden Age of Spanish Pop.

The weekend kicks off with the XXXVIII Vendimia Flamenco Festival from 10 pm at the Pablo Picasso primary school.

Saturday, 2nd September In the afternoon from 7 pm there will be a Mass in honour of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and a performance by the church choir in the Iglesia Santa Ana. Afterwards

¿CÓMO TRIBUTAN LAS PENSIONES DEL EXTRANJERO? Todos aquellos contribuyentes extranjeros que actualmente están recibiendo una pensión por los servicios prestados (ya sea una pensión pública o privada) de sus países de origine, deberán de tributar por este ingreso como rendimientos del trabajo en su Declaración de la Renta, siempre que estén obligados a presentar la declaración de la renta. Es importante resaltar que todos los residentes fiscales en España deben declarar sus ingresos por su renta mundial, independientemente de la procedencia de sus ingresos. Normalmente las pensiones del extranjero no figuran en los borradores enviados por Hacienda pero debemos de tener en cuenta que las pensiones del extranjero tributan como rendimientos del trabajo y es nuestra obligación incluirlo en nuestra Declaración de la Renta. Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta los correspondientes Convenios de Doble Imposición, que prevalecen sobre la Ley

española. En la mayor parte de los Convenios para evitar la Doble Imposición suscritos por España con otros Estados se establecen las siguientes reglas con respecto a las pensiones: • Como regla general NO se pagan impuestos en España por las PENSIONES PÚBLICAS, cobradas por ejemplo por haber sido funcionario en el extranjero, y deben tributar en el Estado desde el que se pagan. En España quedarían exentas aunque hay Convenios (por ej. con Alemania o Reino Unido) que establecen que esas pensiones públicas deben tenerse en cuenta en el IRPF español para calcular y aplicar un tipo mayor al resto de rentas. • SÍ deben declararse en España las PENSIONES PRIVADAS, cobradas por razón de un empleo privado anterior, pagadas por ejemplo por la seguridad social de otro Estado. La mayoría de los Convenios establecen que sólo deben

tributar en el Estado de residencia. Lo que está claro es que la Hacienda española recibe cada vez más y mejor información sobre pensiones procedentes de otros Estados cobradas por residentes en España, por lo que no tiene sentido omitirlas en las declaraciones del Impuesto sobre la Renta, cuando corresponda declararlas. Esto se debe a las mejoras en los procedimientos de intercambio de información con otros países y administraciones públicas, especialmente con aquellos de Europa. Esto permite a la Agencia Tributaria disponer de información fiscal de la que antes no se podía acceder, y por ello, se podrá reclamar a los contribuyentes la deuda por la no tributación de las pensiones del extranjero con carácter retroactivo desde el año 2012. Además, sería conveniente que todos aquellos pensionistas que sean residentes fiscales en España facilitaran a las Autoridades Fiscales de sus países de origen certificado de residencia fiscal en España para evitar el pago de impuestos en estos países y hacerlo así de forma íntegra en nuestro país. HOW IS A FOREIGN PENSION TREATED FOR TAX PURPOSES IN SPAIN? All foreigners residing in Spain who are currently receiving a pension for services rendered, (whether a public or private pension), from their countries of origin, should declare this income in their tax declaration form in the monetary compensation section under income from work, only of course when they are obliged to file an income tax return form. It is important to note that all tax residents in Spain must declare their total personal global income for taxation, irrespective of the source of that income. Normally foreign pensions are not included in the drafts sent by the Treasury, but you must bear in mind that foreign pensions are taxed in the monetary compensation section, and are considered as income from work. Therefore, it is an obligation to include your pension/s in the annual declaration. However, it is necessary to take into account the corresponding Double Taxation Agreements, which prevail over Spanish Law. Most of the agreements to prevent Double Taxation which Spain signed with other countries establish the following rules with respect to pensions:-

Generally, no tax is paid in Spain for PUBLIC PENSIONS received, for example, for having worked as an official abroad. These should be taxed in the country in which they are paid. They should be exempt from tax in Spain, however, there are exceptions. Agreements for example with Germany and the United Kingdom establish that these public pensions should be taken into account in the Spanish Income Tax Declaration which means that by this inclusion, the tax rate applied to the total income would be higher. ALL PRIVATE PENSIONS from private employment, even when paid by the social security department of another country, must be declared in Spain, Most of the Agreements signed stipulate that they should only be taxed in the country of residence.

What is clear is that the Spanish Tax Office is receiving consistently more and more comprehensive information on pensions paid by other countries to residents in Spain, so it does not make sense to omit them in your income tax return, when officially they should be declared. This improvement in procedures for exchanging information with other countries and public administrations, especially with those in Europe, allows the Tax Office to acquire tax information that could not be accessed before, and for this reason, the tax office could claim outstanding debts due to non-taxation when foreign pensions have not been declared, and these debts could be backdated to 2012. In addition, it would be appropriate for all foreign pensioners who are tax residents in Spain to provide the Tax Authorities of their countries of origin with a Tax Residence Certificate from the Spanish Tax Offices thus avoiding the necessity of paying taxes in that country and only paying your taxes in one place, your country of residence, Spain. With the only lighting coming from 25,000 candles Arabo-Andalucian-Sephardic music

from five centuries ago takes to the streets and squares of this town. In the main square of the medieval souk, lit only with candles, artisans dressed in Moorish costume offer their wares from dusk until dawn. Es verano, es el momento de disfrutar de los chiringuitos Nada es más típico del verano español en la Costa del Sol que una visita a uno de los muchos chiringuitos que llenan la cista. Las playas de Manilva cuentan con gran cantidad de estos establecimientos tan tradicionales, desde el más rústico a los más elegantes. No hay nada igual a sentarse en la terraza, observando las preciosas arenas y el brillo del Mediterráneo, escuchando música en vivo o simplemente el sonido de las olas rompiendo en la orilla, con el olor de la maravillosa comida fresca que sale de la barbacoa, y una bebida bien fría. Muchos puristas se han opuesto a los recientes edictos del Ministerio de Costas que requieren que todos los chiringuitos se muevan al borde de las playas, y las anteriores

construcciones tipo choza han sido demolidas para crear estructuras más permanentes, perdiendo así parte de su carácter tradicional.

El lado positivo es que muchos chiringuitos permanecen abiertos durante más tiempo, incluso todo el año.

Nothing typifies the Spanish summer on the Costa del Sol more than a visit to one of the many beach bar/restaurants, chiringuitos, to be found along the coast. Manilva’s beaches have no shortage of these traditional hostelries, ranging from the distinctly rustic to the more upmarket and everything in between. There is nothing quite like sitting on the terrace gazing across the beautiful sands to the shimmering Mediterranean listening to live music or just the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, with the smell of wonderful fresh seafood wafting from the barbecue, and a nice cold drink to set it all off. Many purists have objected to the Coastal Ministry’s recent edicts requiring all chiringuitos be moved to the edge of the beaches and the previous ramshackle constructions

have been demolished to make way for new, more permanent structures, with a loss of some of the traditional character. The

upside to this though is that many chiringuitos have extended their opening season, with some remaining open all-year-round.

The Rock from Bottom to Top by Nick Nutter

‘The Rock from Bottom to Top’ is the story of Gibraltar written from the perspective of the visitor. It explains how Gibraltar came to be, ‘Probably the most fought over and most densely fortified place in Europe, and probably, therefore, in the world’ (Field Marshal Sir John Chapple (Governor of Gibraltar 1993 – 1995)). It looks at the very beginning when Gibraltar was a peak overlooking a desiccated basin that became the Mediterranean Sea and the first human inhabitants, the Neanderthals. The visible signs of succeeding peoples, Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Spanish and British are examined in a tour of ‘The Rock’. All the major attractions that make Gibraltar a tourist destination are covered together with some of the less famous sites, all placed in their historical, social or geographical context for the benefit of the curious traveller that wants to know just a little bit more. On 26 August, classic rock returns to the Estepona Bullring for the first time in several years. Not since Deep Purple rocked the same venue in 2008 has Estepona seen a concert of this size. The Pink Purple Zep Fest is a celebration of the music of three of the biggest names in rock, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. The music will be performed by three of the leading tribute bands from the UK - Think Floyd, Deeper Purple and Whole Lotta Led.

Whilst it would have been great to have the real bands performing, sadly it is no longer possible to see the real Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin play live and even the real Deep Purple don't perform a lot of the classic songs from their heyday in the 70's, so The Pink Purple Zep Fest is effectively the next best thing for fans of classic rock. When asked why they choose to play someone else's music, a member of Deeper Purple said "first and foremost we are fans of Deep Pur-

ple and love the music". As such, anyone attending the concert can expect all of the bands to perform the music with the passion and energy one might have experienced had they been fortunate (and old) enough to see the original bands in the 60's and 70's. Age Concern Charity Shop Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, receives no financial support from the Council and relies solely on the generosity of people and organisations who donate items we can sell, or money, to enable us to give older people the help they need. Our shop in Calle Zaragoza, Estepona acts as the focal point

for the charity as well as raising much needed funds. In spite of the building works progressing along side us where an underground car park is being excavated (known by us as the swimming pool with mud slide) we are open for business five days a week from 10 am. to 1.30 pm. Volunteers to run the shop are always needed and we

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain weekly surgery The Duquesa Charitable Society of St George is hosting a weekly surgery by Citizens Advice Bureau Spain every Wednesday morning from 10.30 am to 1 pm. The surgery will be held at the St George Charity’s new shop in Calle Aurora de Albornoz, Punta Almina, Sabinillas, and is part of the Charity’s community support programme.

If you would like to see one of CAB Spain’s advisers then pop along to the shop on Wednesday morning, although it is advisable to book an appointment as it can sometimes be busy. Food Bank The Saint George Charity is launching a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet. We shall be rolling this scheme out over the coming weeks and months, and are inviting people to donate non-perishable goods, such as long life milk, pasta, rice, biscuits, tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, cleaning products and toiletries, etc. The

charity will supplement these items with fresh produce, and will distribute on a weekly basis to a number of individuals and families that have been identified as being in urgent need of this service. Items can be donated at the St George Charity Shop in Calle Aurora Albornoz, Sabinillas, from 10 am to 1.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

2. Try to locate the owner or the police. 3. If you do not get any results from the above steps, take a photo of the animal locked inside - if you are able, include the license plate - to have proof, then break the window of the vehicle and remove the

animal. 4. Wait with the animal until the police arrive. Failure to take these steps would be viewed as an infraction against private property and you could be sentenced with 1 - 3 years in prison.

Si sus planes de vacaciones este verano incluyen a sus animales entonces hay otras consideraciones a tener en cuenta y más para las caminatas en el campo o los paseos por la playa. Todo lo que brilla no es de oro, y con este calor hay que estar al tanto de las amenazas de los ectoparásitos - pulgas, garrapatas, mosquitos y moscas - como se ha mencionado en artículos anteriores. Los perros y los gatos no transpiran a través de su piel, como los seres humanos y los caballos. Cortando todo el pelo de nuestro perro en el verano porque está jadeando no necesariamente va hacerle más fresco. Ese abrigo de piel podría estar ayudando a protegerle contra insectos picadores y a su vez aislarle un poco del sol y las quemaduras. Un perro o gato jadea cuando hace calor como una forma de controlar la temperatura corporal, del mismo modo, no siempre significa que tienen sed. Hay muchos tipos de malas hierbas y semillas de plantas secas que se pegan al pelo y a la piel que pueden causar todo tipo de problemas entre los dedos de los pies, la nariz, en las orejas y oídos, o en el ojo. Si un chapuzón en el mar o la piscina es bueno para refrescar, es importante recordar que para nosotros enjuagarnos después del agua salada o del cloro con agua clara, será lógico que los animales reciban el mismo tratamiento. Esto puede ayudar a reducir los hot spots (puntos calientes) o eczemas de verano que son demasiado frecuentes. Demasiado uso de champú, incluso con el más suave de los champús medicados pueden causar problemas de la piel en lugar de resolverlos. Incluso dejando las ventanas parcialmente abiertas no puede proporcionar suficientes propiedades de enfriamiento como se muestra en el triste caso de los dos perros de la policía en Inglaterra, que murieron hace poco aunque sólo se dejaba desatendido durante unos pocos minutos. Si está preocupado de que su perro está sufriendo un sobrecalentamiento, o sea un golpe de calor o se muestra signos de angustia, debemos tomar medidas inmediatas para ayudarlo. En primer lugar, enfrie sus pies mojonándolos o colocándolos en un recipiente con agua fría y así como una ligera ducha con agua fría, y en segundo lugar busque asesoramiento profesional por un golpe de calor que puede tener un desenlace fatal. Los Perros sudan o hacen la termorregulación (como ya decimos) a través de sus pies y jadeando, por lo que enfriando los pies es una de las maneras más rápida de aliviar su angustia del calor. También es importante tener en cuenta el calor irradiado de asfalto, cemento, caminos de tierra o arena de la playa. Si no puede caminar cómodamente descalzo sobre estas superficies es probablemente demasiado caliente para pasear a su mascota. También pueden salir ampollas o sufrir quemaduras en los pies/patas/ garras/pezuñas. Manteniendo estos consejos en mente debería proporcionar unas vacaciones más sanas y relajadas para todos. En caso de duda consulte a un profesional.

If your holiday plans include your animals this summer then there are other considerations to be aware of for those hikes in the countryside or jaunts on the beach. All that glitters is not gold and with this heat be aware of the threats from ectoparasites – fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and biting flies – as mentioned in previous articles. Dogs and cats do not perspire through their skin as humans and horses do, cutting all the fur down on our dog in the summertime because they are panting may not necessarily make them cooler. That fur coat could be helping to protect against biting insects and insulating somewhat against the sun and protecting against sunburn. A dog or cat pants when it is hot as a means of controlling body temperature, likewise it does not always mean that they are thirsty. There are many types of weeds and dry plant seeds that stick to fur and can cause all sorts of problems between the toes, up the nose, down the ear, or in the eye. If a dip in the sea or the pool is in order remember that we rinse the salt water or chlorine off afterwards, it follows then that our animals get the same treatment. This may help in reducing the all too frequent hot spots or summer eczemas. Over shampooing, even with the mildest of medicated shampoos may cause skin problems rather than resolving them. Make sure in the heat that they have abundant fresh water available and a shady spot to take refuge in. If the water isn’t fit for us to drink we ought to be giving our animals the same bottled water that we use. They should be in a well ventilated area. Remember, if travelling with your dog and having to leave him in the car for a short while, think twice. Even leaving the windows partially open may not provide sufficient cooling properties as shown in the sad case of the two police dogs in England that died, although they had only been left

unattended for just a few minutes. Should you be concerned that your dog or pet is overheating or showing signs of distress, immediate action must be taken to help them. Firstly, cool their feet by hosing him down or placing his feet in a bowl of cold water and secondly, seek professional advice because heat stroke can be fatal. As mentioned above dogs “sweat” or thermoregulate (as we say in the trade) through their feet and by panting and therefore cooling the feet is one of the fastest ways of alleviating their heat distress. It is also important to be aware of the heat irradiated from tarmac, cement, dirt tracks, or beach sand. If you cannot walk comfortably bare-footed over these surfaces it is probably too hot to walk your pet. They can also get burns or blisters on their feet/ paws/hooves. Keeping these few things in mind should make for a more relaxed vacation for all concerned. When in doubt consult a professional.

¡Bonito trasero! A menudo me preguntan qué ejercicio es mejor para cambiar la forma de tu trasero y piernas. Para mi personalmente, siempre serán las estocadas. Sus beneficios son casi infinitos: refuerzan los músculos de las piernas, fortalecen tu médula, mejoran tu equilibrio, movilidad y flexibilidad, e incluso ayudan a estabilizar los músculos. Mejoran la concienciación espacial y corporal, y ayudan a estirar tus caderas. Sin embargo a algunos no les gustan las estocadas, e incluso hay gente que piensan que son malas para tus rodillas ¡en serio! Esto por supuesto no puede estar más lejos de la realidad, a menos que tengas una lesión de rodilla, prótesis o artritis. Pero para la mayoría, las estocadas son beneficiosas para mantener tus rodillas saludables. Los errores más comunes a la hora de realizar este ejercicio son los culpables de los posibles daños a las rodillas y hoy vamos a intentar resolver algunos de ellos, para que puedas realizar estocadas perfectas. Para los principiantes no se necesita equipamiento, y a medida que progresas puedes añadir pesas para trabajar todo el cuerpo. Recomiendo usar un espejo para poder ver la posición de tu cuerpo, o hacer que alguien te grabe para que puedas comprobar tu técnica. Tómate tu tiempo, permanece estable y evita tambalearte sobre tus rodillas. Debes intentar conseguir un ángulo de 90 grados en ambas piernas, manteniendo tu tronco recto y tus abdominales tensados (no relajados), los hombros hacia atrás. Intenta que tus caderas no se adelanten. Los pies deberían estar separados a

la altura de tu cadera, intenta dar una zancada, no demasiada larga para que tu pierna trasera esté recta ni demasiado corta de froma que tu rodilla adelantada supere los dedos de tus pies. Recomendaría estocadas estáticas para empezar, desde una posición básica, baja tu rodilla trasera solo para “besar el suelo” y luego vuelve a ponerte de pie, y repite. Empujar desde tus talones (intenta mover los dedos de los pies) ayuda a activar los glúteos. Intenta hacer 12 con cada pierna, luego descansa y repite dos veces.

Una vez que domines las estocadas estáticas, prueba otras alternativas: la pierna izquierda adelantada, usando el talón para empujar hacia atrás, recuerda no inclinarte y mantener tu torso recto, luego cambia de pierna. De nuevo, repite doce veces x 3 rondas. Sugiero añadir las estocadas a tu entrenamiento, dos veces a la semana. Una vez que seas eficiente con ellas, hay muchas alternativas, como estocadas con pesas, estocadas hacia atrás, sobre la cabeza, cada una con una dinámica y desafío diferente. Siempre realiza un calentamiento y enfriamiento, y consulta con tu médico antes de iniciar un nuevo régimen de ejercicios.

Nice Ass! People often ask me, what exercise do you think is best for changing the shape of your butt and legs? For me personally it would always be lunges. The benefits of lunges are almost infinite. They strengthen all muscles throughout the legs, strengthen your core, improve your balance, mobility, and flexibility, and even help in muscle stabilization. They improve spacial and body awareness, and help stretch out tight hips. However, there are still people out there that don’t like lunges and even those that believe lunges are bad for your knees, gasp! This, of course, couldn’t be farther from the truth, unless you have a knee injury, replacements, or arthritis. But for most of us, lunges are actually beneficial for keeping our knees healthy. Common lunge mistakes are almost always to blame for discomfort in the knees, and today we are going to go over some of the most common mistakes and how to fix

them, so that you can perform pain-free and perfect lunges. For beginners no equipment is needed, as you progress and you become more stable and stronger, then adding weight increases the demands on the whole of the body not just the lower half. I would recommend using a mirror so that you can view your body position, or get someone to film you so that you can check your technique.take your time, stay stable and avoid ‘wobbling’ at the knees. You are aiming for 90 degree angle on both legs, keeping your trunk upright and your abs braced (not relaxed), shoulders back.try not to ‘push’ your hips forward . Feet should be approx hip width apart, aim to take a stride, not too long do that so your back leg is straight and not too short that your front knee pushes over your front toes. I would recommend static lunges to start with, from a basic position, bring your back knee down to just ‘ kiss the floor’ then return to standing, repeat. Pushing through your

heels (try wiggling the toes) really helps engage the butt. Try 12 each leg, then rest and repeat for 2 more rounds. Once you have mastered static lunges, try alternative stride lunges, left leg forward, using the front heel to push back, remember not to lean and keep your torso upright and tight, then change legs. Again, 12 reps each leg x 3 rounds. I would suggest adding lunges to your workout- aiming to do them twice a week. Once you’re efficient with them, there are lots of alternatives, such as weighted lunges,

backward lunges, overhead ones, each has a slightly different dynamic and challenge. Always warm up and cool down, consult with your GP before starting any new exercise regime. Abierto el plazo de inscripción para la primera edición del Duatlón Cross “Ciudad de Estepona” El recorrido de la prueba “Trofeo Montes Torres-Achedosol” transcurrirá casi en su totalidad por caminos rurales y urbanos, y se celebrará el 10 de septiembre a las 10:00 horas, con salida desde la Plaza San Fernando El Ayuntamiento de Estepona, a través del Área Sociocultural y Servicios, informa que el próximo 10 de septiembre, a partir de las 10:00 horas, se celebrará el I Duatlón Cros Ciudad de Estepona “Trofeo Montes Torres-Achedosol”. La competición está organizada conjuntamente por el Ayuntamiento y el Club Triatlón Tiburones-Achedosol, uno de los clubs pioneros en la práctica del Triatlón en Andalucía, en torno a 1988, y seguirá el reglamento establecido por la Federación Española de Triatlón para pruebas de Duatlón Cross en 2017. En esta primera edición, la prueba tendrá un recorrido de 5,8 km por zonas de asfalto, pista y senderos, con un desnivel de 287 metros positivo; la distancia en BTT es de 17 km, con un tramo de desnivel de 695 metros positivo, y recorre una vuelta de 14 km de subidas conocidas de la localidad como Juan Benitez, La Pantoja y Campo de Tiro, y un último sector de carrera a pie totalmente urbano, con una distancia de 2,6 km. Las inscripciones se pueden realizar a través de la Plataforma de la Federación Andaluza de Triatlón: inscripciones@ triatlonandalucia.org – 639616571. El precio será de 15 € para Federados, y 22 €

arios componentes del Club de Esgrima “AndaluZía” que tiene su sala de armas en el Castillo de La Duquesa han podido conocer y disfrutar de la compañía del actor Antonio Banderas en un homenaje que tuvo lugar en el Teatro Cervantes de Málaga. Este acto fue organizado por la Escuela Superior de Artes Escénicas de Málaga que en su gala anual entregó un premio a la trayectoria profesional del gran actor internacional. Antonio Banderas practicó el noble arte de la esgrima para su famoso personaje “El Zorro” y compartió maestros y enseñanzas con el responsable de esgrima del club Alberto Zerrada. Los alumnos de esgrima del municipio presentaron sus respetos y compartieron

experiencias en una tarde inolvidable. Antonio Banderas con una espada en la mano les contó sus vivencias en la esgrima y recalcó sus valores a la vez que agradecía la presencia de los alumnos de la comarca en este emotivo reconocimiento. El gran actor tuvo a bien autografiar y dedicar una réplica de la espada utilizada en su famosa película “La máscara del Zorro” como regalo al maestro Zerrada para ser expuesta de forma permanente en el museo de esgrima del Castillo de la Duquesa. El Club le regaló así mismo un libro dedicado al personaje del Zorro escrito por el maestro Zerrada y editado por el departamento de Cultura de Mnailva. Para conmemorar este acontecimiento esperamos la

visita de todos los interesados y se mostrarán objetos del personaje del Zorro en una exposición temporal del museo que seguro harán las delicias de niños y mayores. El Museo de Esgrima de Manilva es el primer y único museo a nivel internacional dedicado a esta materia donde se pueden ver armas, vestuario, grabados, objetos antiguos y tratados relacionados con la historia del desarrollo de las armas, duelos y la evolución de la esgrima hasta el deporte que hoy conocemos. Several members of the Fencing Club "AndaluZía" which has its weapons room in the Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa were fortunate enough to meet and enjoy the company of the actor Antonio Banderas in a tribute that took place at the Cervantes Theatre in Malaga. This event was organized by the Superior School of Performing Arts of Malaga, which in its annual gala presented an award to the career of the great international actor. Antonio Banderas practiced the noble art of fencing for his famous character "El Zorro" and shared his experiences with the manager of the fencing club, Alberto Zerrada. The students of the club presented their respects and shared experiences in an unforgettable afternoon.
